1) SPL
1a) To flash a rom from htc, just follow htc's instructions for installing the rom
1b) To flash a custom rom, you must use a custom SPL (or bootloader) which bypasses htc's built-in security check and allows for custom rom flashing.
1b1) USPL - This is a temporary spl which doesn't stay with the device. Find it here
1b2) HSPL - This is a permanent solution and allows for flashing custom roms many times and doesn't go away after flashing or hard resetting. Find it here
*Note: Please remember to use the donate button to show your appreciation to the software authors for allowing you this functionality
2) Custom ROMs
2a) List of custom roms here. Which cooked rom you use is up to you. On other devices, different cooked roms can offer different functionality and looks. On the HD however, I'm seeing cooked roms simply keeping up with new releases of WinMo and performance enhancements. I use Dutty's rom simply because he's an experienced rom cook and I've used his things on other devices, but you should read what each rom offers and decide for yourself.
Most importantly, HAVE FUN!!

Roms???

Ok so after extensive search on this wonderful site ive found more then enough helpful hints/tricks and not to mention cab files and programs that are just incredible for my Wing...attached is a screen shot...ok so the only issue i have is of course speed, i have been endlessly searching for a stable rom without any bugs and a sharp look (like the touchit lg menu one) and on top of that i have read to 'how tos' on flashing a new rom and still have no clue how to do it....its obvious the original tmobile rom is the slowest and lags...is there anyone who can recommend a rom and help with the step by step preocess??? what is the first step and when i do flash to the new rom will i lose everything i currently have on the device now...? i know newbie questions, sorry...thanks for the help in advance
I reccommend you use one of ITJE's Touch IT roms. The latest touch it Rom is 4.4, but it isn't 100% compatible with the Wing, so I'd reccommend you try the Touch IT 2.3
touchIt roms don't always flash right for people. Use opentouch or pdaviet rom.

Asking people to give you an opinion on the best ROMs is against forum rules. Not to be a stickler, but as it is peoples opinions, there are likely to be many different views as to which ROM is best. The best thing is to read this thread to be sure you have set up your phone correctly. You have 2 choices, either going the USPL or the HSPL route. You will see the pros and cons of each route in the thread.
I would also suggest reading the ROM threads in this forum where you will get a sense of how well the ROM is working ie any major bugs (or not) and then try a few of them yourself and see which one suits your needs best.
i still do not understand why opinionated posts are forbidden but anyway. until this thread gets closed, here is my opinion:
check out miri's rom because it has been very stable for a long time and a day after a new build is available you will get an updated rom.
just make sure that you also flash the latest radio rom.
prior to flashing make sure that you install hspl on your device.
for everything you need (hspl, radio, wm6.5 rom) there is a link in my signature.
Fast becoming a one-to-one Q&A thread

HTC Official ROM - No FM Radio

I have just installed the new HTC ROM (1.19.401.1) over my original Vodafone ROM, but have noticed that for some reason I no longer have an FM Radio. I used to use it quite a bit on the Vodafone ROM, so any ideas why its missing on the official HTC ROM and more importantly, how do I get it back?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521356
or install EnergyRom Genesis (see my sig), the ROM is much better than stock and the radio app is already installed. The standard version is extremely stable, with the added bonus of WinMo 6.5, you won't look back!
Just a note of caution. You would have to install Hard SPL on your phone to install/flash any custom ROM. Which would void the warranty of your device.
Almost all Custom ROMs that are released here on XDA have FM Radio installed in them. So you can try any ROM.
But you are someone who is not aware of how ROM Flashing works... please take time to read through the stickys first before going ahead with it.
Its DEFINITELY not like installing a CAB.
Good luck.
Thanks for that. You are correct that I am new to flashing ROM's - although I have been using HTC devices for sometime now - but seeing as Vodafone have been so unco-operative when it comes to updating their ROM and also insisting on their horrible Red theme, then I figured I'd give it a shot.
I suppose worse can scenario would be if the phone ever needed to go back for repair, I could also ensure that the latest version of their ROM was installed.
Question answered.
Please search and read the sticky posts before starting a new thread. You'll find most common questions are answered somewhere .

Rhodium: education in flashing for newbie

hi guys,
i recently got a tp2 t7373. this is my 1st winmo phone. i was googling for apps and i came across this forum. i think that you do very good work at developing and fixing what microsoft can't.
i leave in Greece (Europe). My device has the 6.1 rom with greek language.
i want to flash a new 6.5 rom with english.
I 've search a lot about the tp2 (hspl, flashing, custum roms, etc..), but i found very little info on the device i got (t7373).
So my questions are:
- should i wait and see if htc Greece release a 6.5 rom so i don't void my warranty, yet.
- witch version of HardSPL should i install?
- can i relock my device in order not to void my warranty, in case of hardware problems in the future? if yes, how?
- is there another codename for my phone, witch i'm not aware of?
- i want to flash a stable, reliable and fast rom of 6.5 winmo. witch roms do i look for my phone?
- can i install separately the version of tf3d of my choice? does this need a new sort of flashing?
- can i flash, after i hspl my phone, roms witch are ment for other devices?
- is there any chance of bricking my phone after hspl by flashing?
- witch is the safest way to flash?
- is there anything else, in your opinion, i should know before flashing?
thanx in advance.
alex
- should i wait and see if htc Greece release a 6.5 rom so i don't void my warranty, yet.
you might wait a LONG time...
- witch version of HardSPL should i install?
the latest, if your device is supported. there are different TP2 models... look at this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131
- can i relock my device in order not to void my warranty, in case of hardware problems in the future? if yes, how?
yes, provided a stock ROM is made available. refer to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131
- is there another codename for my phone, witch i'm not aware of?
depends on where and from whom you purchased it.
- i want to flash a stable, reliable and fast rom of 6.5 winmo. witch roms do i look for my phone?
there's a database thread, search and have a look. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tBctimfdK9NM5awAG-Xnwpw&single=true&gid=0&output=html
- can i install separately the version of tf3d of my choice? does this need a new sort of flashing?
too much of a n00b to know.
- can i flash, after i hspl my phone, roms witch are ment for other devices?
sometimes, but i'd flash for YOUR device versus risking it.
- is there any chance of bricking my phone after hspl by flashing?
always. it's slight, but the answer is yes.
- witch is the safest way to flash?
there's a thread about flashing for n00bs. look at that. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
- is there anything else, in your opinion, i should know before flashing?
yes, read all the threads about HardSPL, SIM unlocking (pay for it, it's worth it) and CAREFULLY review the cook's instructions before flashing the ROM of your preference.
also, use the search. http://tinyurl.com/yko3w26
tGo
If you are worried about warranty, then you shouldnt flash! And yes if you dont have stock ROM handy dont flash.

How i can update wm 6.5 on diamond?

How i can do it adn waht in need to download?
Hi,
you will need to flash a new , 6.5-based custom ROM to your device. To do that you will need HardSPL, the Rom and some patience.
At first you should read the How-to on flashing the Diamond.
Hope this helps
Max
I would recommend you thoroughly read this thread many times before you attempt anything, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211
I would pick a custom WM 6.5 ROM from the Diamond ROM Development forum section that you like the look of, such as usability, aesthetics or performance. Would recommend any of these http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=563245
