I have had my Vario III for almost a year now (used to have a Vario II before this), and I've never had this problem before.
All of a sudden yesterday, my phone screen just went dim. I didn't install anything new and it didn't fall or anything. Since then, I cant use the power button on the side to switch the screen off, and the phone simple wont charge. I've tried doing a soft reset many times.
While the phone is restarting, the screen starts off bright as usual, but while in the loading process (10 secs after it starting rebooting), the brightness goes down approx 60-70%.
If I keep the power button down for a while, I get the option if I want to switch my phone off. If I say yes, the loader keeps spinning and the phone doesn't switch off, regardless how long I wait.
The phone is still usable and all the programs still work.... but its not charging and screen wont turn off. What should I do?
By the way, I haven't changed the ROM. I still use the original ROM that came with T-Mobile.
... And you didn't drop it right? Sounds like there was a hardware failure for sure...
Any Ideas?
My phone ran out of battery now. Still not charging. Its my only phone and its annoying me. I don't know if its the ROM thats gone buggy. If I need to change the ROM on it, I HAVE to get the battery fully charged right?
I cant think of any other possibilities. Any ideas would be great.

No, I didn't drop it. I was just using it normally and it just decided to do that. I wasn't connected to the internet at that time either.
Well the ROM on the phone wouldn't cause it not to charge. The ROM is obviously not even taken into consideration when the device is off and charging (or in your case, not charging).
Have you tried different cables to see if it is working, i.e. USB vs wall-charger?

Yup... tried different chargers and different wall sockets.
The problem I explained earlier did happen before, about a month ago, and it had same symptoms. And even then it happenned for no particular reason. But after soft resetting it a few times, it sorted itself out. This time, nothing seems to work.
Man that stinks. I hate to say it but it definitely sounds like a hardware failure

Well... Good thing I sync'd my phone last night and transferred all data onto the memory card.
I'll just keep working on it, see if I can figure something out. If I do, I'll post the solution here for future reference. Till then, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Thanx
I have my Kaiser upgraded from Abusalza ROM v7 to v10.
It works like a charm and I'm loving it so far until now.
The battery is dead and when I plugged in either usb charger or power charger, the notification led lit up solid orange/amber like it supposed to and then it blinks.
I checked and later found my phone isn't charging at all. Is this related to bad battery or is it because of incompatible radio?
Oh, and when I tried to switch on the device it just hang. Perhaps it doesn't have enough juice to boot up.
Anyone got same problem with me? Please advice how to fix this.
Thanks.
If you have already cleaned the battery terminals, I would suppose it is new battery time.
Well, I was sort of having a problem similar to this running the same ROM series. For me though, the notification LED would blink, even if it wasn't plugged in and there were no notifications. I would also get it when plugged in at times. This was intermittent, since it would randomly happen for some unknown reason. To fix it, I just killed all running programs, and reset the phone once or twice and it went away.
For you, if the ROM worked fine before, but isn't working now, a bad radio would not cause your problem. An incompatible radio would have caused you boot up problems and such from the moment you flashed, not later on. Don't know exactly what to tell you, except try a new battery. Get back to us after, and if it doesn't work, we can figure something else out. Hope your problem gets resolved by the battery.

Keep in mind that my phone is currently out of juice i.e. dead.
So, supposedly by plugging in the charger I can restore the battery but in this case that didn't happen.
I guess I would better off go to the shop where I bought the battery and ask a replacement. The battery was new and not even 1 months old.
I will keep you posted. Thanks for the advice guys.
Does the LED light up still, even with the battery dead? If so, wait about 20 min for it to recharge, even though I am assuming you have already done this. If it is completely drained, it most likely won't power back until it has enough power to do so on it's own, even with the charger connected.

At first it blinking and then I pulled out the battery and reinsert it into the phone. Now it lit amber light and then in few minutes turned green. Tried to switch it on and the screen loading fine until at one time it show loading icon and then shutdown.
You assumed it right though, I've been letting the phone connected to the charger since last night and still no juice pumped into the battery I presume as I can't turn it on.
I agree with WillardZ

There's a technical term for items which fail very early on called infant mortality - this may be whats happened. See how it goes with a battery swapped in the shop. If you can get it to work by putting in a fully charged, known good battery but the recharging function doesn't work (or you get a flashing red light after a few minutes again), also try cleaning the spring terminals with IPA or contact cleaner applied using cotton buds. If that still doesn't work but you can boot the device into windows (with the shop borrowed battery), perform a hard reset before the battery goes flat/below 50 % and test again.
okay, I found my other battery which is I know work fine and put it in the device.
I charge it to full and now turning the device on.
While loading the touchflo, the loading icon just hang and I can't do anything.
Nothing works except sleep button.
Can you advice me how to reset this thing?
I know that battery isn't the problem here and I can't seems to do anything since it hung on me.
Oh, I tried turning the phone on without SIM and memory card and still hung.

I can but it'll encourage others to ask without searching first and given there's already a wiki here that covers Kaiser Resets perfectly well (and the Kaiser users manual that comes with the device - let me guess, you don't have that), you'll need to read the wiki and help yourself.

Not to sound rude but I did said that I 'found' my other battery which is previously misplaced whereas I said earlier I'm going to get a replacement for the dead battery.

There is an instruction of how to reset the kaiser but is there a way to reset it while it is OFF or HANG?
I honestly apologies if I sound like I asked question without searching first but I honestly did not found what I'm looking for. The pda is still hang no matter how many times I restart it and I'm out of idea.

duuuuudddeee....the page you linked to above describes a way to do a HARD RESET for your EXACT requirement...read it again.
also, if it is OFF to begin with, then powering it up (even if it hangs ultimately) is equivalent to a SOFT RESET. if it doesn't complete startup and always hangs, then a HARD RESET is the way to go.

and if by "reset it", you mean "flash a new ROM", you can search for that also and you'll find plenty of guides and tutorials and FAQs...but go one step at a time and do a hard reset first (remember, you will lose all data and non-default programs after the hard reset).

You've found the right section but just the hard reset section will be applicable. You don't need the bootscreen (which is what that button combination is all about), just a hard reset (making sure the battery has a decent charge of at least 50% before starting).
Thank you for all the help.
I've managed to reset my phone back to OEM and then flash 3.34 hardspl and radio and abusalza v10. Looks like it back functioning.
Will monitor it to see what could be wrong in these few days.
Ok, so I have encountered something NONE of us EVER want to encounter. My phone has died. It will NOT boot up on battery power and is now cycling in the tri-color screen over and over again. It does this when plugged into USB port and wall outlet. I have the HTC Euro stock ROM on the SD card in the phone, trying to get it to reflash. It gets to the screen : "loading" and "checking" ....but then boots down again and cycles all over again.
I flashed the NRG 10/11 Photon ROM. I have the first HRDSPL from Olinex. My phone is the Euro version, unlocked, unbranded. I use TMobile in the US. .
Please, there has GOT to be someone out there that can help me. You guys are really sharp!! Please ....I need my phone!
I cannot even do a hard reset either. I push the power, send and end button all at the same time. I get no response.
What are my options here? Thanks in advance.

1: So if when you pull out your battery it goes off. And on reinsert, when you try to turn on or hardreset ie: hold the TALK/SEND, END and POWER buttons until you see this message on the screen.
"This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel."
At that point you release the buttons and press Volume up to perform.
It doesnt do anything?
2: As soon you do the AC adapter in or USB power, it starts cycling on his own? If not, try to hardreset then.
3: If you wait like 30 minutes, with cycling on USB on PC, can it hardreset out hisself? Ive readed another guy who had issues and somehow it fixed itself.

Now I get to the point where I see where it recognizes my .nbh file and has a splash screen. BUT......it will not go any further past that now. I press the power button to continue, but it just cycles again and the whole process starts over. I see a reallllllllllllly quick sliver of the update bar, but it disappears fast b/c of the recycling process.
Please dont give up on me. Thanks.

I do not have the SIM card in there. I never have flashed with a SIM card in there. Always read to take that out when you do that.
The SD has to be in there b/c it is the only thing that has a shot of getting the ROM to the phone. Active Sync wont connect b/c phone keeps powering on/off with its cycling issue. So the SD card must be present with the .nbh file on it. I am just in hopes that it will read it somehow. I am sooooo tired of pressing the power button for it to continue, only to have it turn right back off.
ps, reset button does nothing either.
ugh.

Hey, it's ok. I didnt take it as harsh. I have contacted cmonex. I am in hopes she can help me out. I need to put an APB out on ALL GURUS!!
Actually, that is why I posted here.
I've noticed during the flashing process it doesn't take power from USB. What is the status of the battery? It occured to me that it might be power cycling because it's going to a part of the process that only takes power from battery and there isn't enough to do what it wants to do. (+50% ?)
Just a thought ... good luck dude I hope you get it sorted.

Yes, I thought of that as well. But I had it plugged in all night...but I have no idea if it charged b/c I cant see the screen that gives the battery's status. ?? So, I dont know how to get around this part of it. I KNOW for a fact that my battery was low when the phone died. I dont know how to get it charged back up to do this type of diagnostic test.....??
Maybe it's not getting a proper charge if all it's doing is looping ... I figured you wouldn't be able to get battery status after I posted haha ... But it is interesting you said the battery was low when this all happened.
Do you know anyone near you that can lend you a fully charged battery? Does it boot up immediately if you take SD card out, put battery back in and plug in USB power? If you can't get it to where the phone is off and charging with orange light then a spare battery could be worth a try.
Don't worry dude I'm sure cmonex or olipro will have far more useful advice but no harm trying in the meantime
Hello Mates!
Yesterday, i did some experiments with my hd...
I security unlocked it and tried to install a modified(by myself) Topaz-Radio.
Now the device is DEAD.
It stucks in the "Smart mobility"-screen.
I can NOT GOT TO BOOTLOADER anymore. When i Press VolDn + Power, it does absolutely nothing. Trying to Hard-Reset the Hd results in Vibrating three times and nothing more.
Just turning it in or soft reset, results in the "Smart Mobility Screen Stuck"
I think i have to send it to HTC and hope they fix it for free ;-)
Any other ideas anyone? I think i really made it to brick my Hd...

Of course i did, but i even cant get into bootloader. the phone doesn´t even start with volDn + Power/reset.
And the PC doesnt recognize anithing, so o can´t flash via USB.
i think i killed the bootloader somehow?! ;-)
Greets, Tommy
what about BLACDIAG
Blacdiag also doesn´t work, because i cannot acces bootloader!
BUT: its possible to hardreset now(i just didn´t push the volDn hard enough before!!) when i perform a hardreset(VolUP+VOLDN+Reset or Power) i can see the bootloader for a second, the i can hardreset. hardresetting takes about 10 seconds, then after restart(volUP) its again stuck in "smart mobility"-screen.
pressing volDn+power or reset doesnt have any effect, the mobile still does NOTHING-no vibrating, no turning on-nothing...and after that, i have to take out the battery to start it again(power only or Hrardreset)
the bootloader is still here(olinex 1.56), i just can access it.
IST THERE A POSSIBILITY TO GET FROM THE HARDRESET-CONFIRMATION-SCREEN BACK TO BOOTLOADER WITHOUT A RESTART?
i ithink it hates me for getting flashed nearly three times a day
thanks to all, Tommy
If you can hard reset, right when it asks for reboot, the screen goes blank, quickly hold the volume down button only... hopefully it will get you into the bootloader...
Good luck...
you said that the plastic has gone on the vol dn button, what does it look like where the plastic used to be , is it orange plastic looking of can u just see a metal contact?
when your device hangs when booting or cannot even get into bootloader just send in your device to service center

Have you tried to return device to orginal stock rom, i.e. rom which was on device when you bought it.
You don't need to be in bootloader or have phone sync'ed to flash this rom. It doesn't even need to say 'usb' in bootloader. Only works with original rom though
yes also tried original rom, the problem is, that my computer doesn´t recognize the device.

i doubt the phone is unfixable had mine in some bad states before so fingers crossed everything works for you
ok with how you have it at the moment you have to be really specific with pressing the Vol down button make sure you press in the centre where the black dot is, you should be able to feel the difference between bein pressed and not pressed, should still feel like a button.
My button is one step worse then yours i dont even have the orange bit there for the button, just the metal contact underneath and i can still get to bootloader . just have to use a bit of chewing gum wrapper to make the contact on the volume button
someone always makes a bad mistake.
Do NOT hold the power key for long, just one single press.

many, many thanks for your hints and tips. unfortunatetly none of them worked, because i can´t acces bootloader(tried nearly 200 times). also my pc doesn´t recognize the device(win7 or XP), tried lots of cables and alternative drivers.

is there any other ways guys??help please...i'm bored without using my tytn..
I've had a problem lately too where my screen will go white, while apps still seem to continue running.
Sometimes, just turning off the screen, then sliding it open will fix it. Other times I have to pull the battery.
As of yesterday, I can also no longer read any memory card in the phone. I think its time for a new phone. I just passed that 2 year expiration date.
man...still no answer yet..i have no idea what is going on with this phne..warranty also expired..any help guys???please....

I think the problem are the 2 screen connectors. You must open the screen part of the cover and tighten the conectors.
Good luck.
