Ok well i don't know exactly what to call this but i was hoping that there was an app out their that is like the iphone so that when i answer a call it shows me the normal end call and what not but when i put my face against the speaker (or more so the light sensor) that the screen would lock. I think that this would a great app because so many people end calls with their cheek that it is a bit annoying. but any way thanks for any help in advanced.

^^^^Try that, works a treat
thank you im downloading now =]
Ok well this works for the time being but now i was thinking someone could make an app that would turn off the screen when the light value gets below a certain point. (i would try but unfortunately i only know a little c++ and vb) so any one with the expertise if you could make it i would be highly appreciative. Thank you.
Is there an app that can automatically turn on the speakerphone when the phone is placed face down? I think this would be a pretty cool addition. Any thoughts?
Gyrator can detect when you are using the phone and turn it face down and run a keypress for you. No idea if that could be used to turn on the speakerphone though.
Neat idea until your laying on your bed talking to your gf when your wife walks in!!!
[Note]Not that I would ever do that[/Note]
Would be a neat feature though, as long as you could disable it.

Im not married, so no worries there! I just thought it would be convenient if I had to put the phone down for something then it would automatically switch to speaker.

Ok, if you like the TD2's speakerphone on flip stunt, then here's a cool tip for you...
Using Gyrator:
- Add a new "Rotation" event.
- Set application to Phone on the "Application" tab.
- On the "Orientation" tab check on "Portrait", "Face-down", and "Face-up".
- On the "Actions" tab check on "Simulate Keypress".
- Goto "Advanced" tab and select key "F16,127" which triggers the windows-native "Speakerphone Toggle event".
Done.
Now, starting NOT on speakerphone, whenever you put your phone on a level surface --facing up or down-- during a call, the speakerphone will toggle ON -> Moreover, if you pick it up it should toggle OFF. Good enough?
Cheers
P.S. You can also do the same for a "Stylus Out" event to fire when "Phone" application is focused, thereby simultaneously toggling on the speakerphone and starting up a new Note (default behaviour) whenever you take the stylus out during a call. Aren't we the lazziest lot..

Fascinating stuff. All of this customization is one of the things keeping the Fuze in my pocket still. Once in a while the bulk and weight drag me down, then I fall back in love the the ability to tinker the thing to exactly how I like it.
Directly related to this. I'd be curious to know how well the speakerphone works on a technical level when face down. I believe the speakerphone microphone is still on the front of the Fuze which I assume will negatively affect the overall performance.
I've tried this but I cant get it to work on a call out. Maybe I just put it in wrong. Let me know if you guys were able to get it to work.

I thought the microphone was at the bottom side ofthe phone. just above the USB port? Am I wrong? Thats what it looks like on my fuze.... otherwise I have no idea what that little hole is!

Yes, that is where the microphone is at. I usually turn my phone face down anyway while on speakerphone since the speaker is on the back and makes it easier to hear.

I was certain this feature was included out of the box and I had just lost it when I flashed new ROMs.
My Touch Incall Screen Tweak can perform this function - just search for it on here - its normally on the first page of this sub-forum. (not in a position to find the link, sorry).
Cheers,
Steve

Mate, stop reading outdated stuff! Find & use "Touch-InCall-Screen-Tweak" program, it is SUPER cool; its like magic...auto speakerphone whenever the device is not on your ear, very customizable too.
Cheers
Im sure a fair number of you will have experienced the same thing where you press a key once and you get like 3 of that letter and sometimes for me the Fn key doesnt work too well either
i've tried like swirling the keys around to move dust etc but it didnt help
maybe i should just send it back? becuase its really annoying
I also have this problem sometimes. Thought it might be a software problem or so, but maybe you are right and particles are collecting there.
Did someone try that on X1?
Well, if there was such a solution I wouldn't have to send my X1 to the service centre. And just delaying it as much as possible, but given that my warranty ends next week, I'd probably have to go down soon. And anyway, it's not just repeats that I'm facing. Sometimes it's the other way round, as in the keyboard not responding unless I press the key down real hard.

just tried, and seems to work! thanks
settings-personal-buttons-up/down control
delay before first repeat set to long
repeat rate 3 from fast
works good!
I'd say it works about 80-90%. It does save the X1 from the trash piles, so kudos to the friendly guy who dug up the solution, and no kudos to SE and/or MS who can't think of fine-tuning the keyboard settings before they ship a product that was $800-900 unlocked at launch.
Caveat and an inappropriate rant: I remember doing so much research, and everyone across so many different forums said a hardware keyboard is the way to go if you do a lot of texting. Not true. I find that hardware keyboards require a lot of efforts to press compared to a virtual keyboard, even worse if it's not spaciously laid out, and even worse if, unlike the X1, the positioning of the keys relative to each other is off.
Truth is I type even faster on an iPhone/ipod touch than an X1, without feeling like an RSI is coming on, and it's not because of predictive text entry. It's because my thumbs can use a lot less force on the keys. I believe most people still press way too hard on a touch screen trying to be control freaks.
So the keyboard may be 80-90% improved, but I've got my budget ready for an iPhone. And no more listening, no more being open to suggestions!

Well, I don't want to live without h/w keyboard anymore. And I did a fast typing challenge against an iPhone and won. The guy who wrote on that iPhone was a real freak, had an iPhone since it came out and types really fast...but I love the h/w keyboard on the xperia. If it would not have this double-letter error I would love it even more...Now I'm going to fix it with the solution mentioned above. Thanks!
I just want to add one thing...
The reason I say the fix is 80-90%, is because I think CPU speed and/or power settings might contribute somewhat to the keyboard issue. Once last week, I had the phone plugged into AC, and the keyboard suddenly became free of issues, and responded properly to my typical typing efforts.
Using nueCPL-ClockSpeed v1.3 in an unscientific test, the keyboard produces more mistakes on a lower speed (384MHz), but its Max Performance setting didn't exactly reproduce the AC power remedy.
This is not a very stringent observation at all, but since I am stuck with the X1 for a while, I'll keep on trying I'm betting that the next iPhone will be a significant update, so I have to hold off the purchase for now... and kiss NRGZ28's toes for his rom's.

Hey!
If you guys really really want the MOD, let's do something about it. AND I NEED ALL SUPPORT FROM EVERYONE.
Read Carefully.
I'm not sure if you've heard of PSX emulator or not. The author, zodttd, has started the project because he saw
there was a petition ( Here ) to have me bring PSX, N64, and the VLC media player to the Android platform. With over 1800 signatures I started work on PSX a few days ago.

So what I am thinking is, we should do the same thing too!
I have begun a petition. Now all I need is you guys to sign it. It's a really simple process.
Once we have enough signatures, we can show it to mods from other communities.
Petition
Thanks,
Clay
have you sent any emails to app developers or anything like that before you post a petition? I think you may be jumping the ball a little bit here... go ask a few developers first.. Im pretty sure someone might have the time (or knowledge to help you learn how to implement your idea...
doesnt seem like it should be that hard to link the led notification and a button backlight... they have done it with trackballs...
As soon as I get my vibrant I shall start work on this.. Someone will probably get it working before me but I shall give it a shot..
Petition is a nice idea, but no need for it. Im pretty sure once the vibrant (galaxy s) gains more popularity, the programs an mods will start to come.
wow making the button backlight as notifications is actually a really good idea.

Thirded. Great idea.
This would be fantastic. Good idea.
can't wait to see progress.. also, is there a charging light? if not can there be a mod to have one of the buttons (i rather see the search icon as a charging LED)
Thinking about getting a Vibrant, and this mod would make the purchase that much easier.
All for it!!!
Make it happen
Im still on the fence if i should buy this phone because im so used to my g1's hardware keyboard and the lack of an led notification is kind of turning me away from this awesome beast. i spent maybe half an hour playing with one today at t-mobile...if this gets done maybe ill get a vibrant and overcome my attachment to hardware keyboards lol.
a cool idea would be to have someone make the backlight for the buttons light up sequentially left to right!

Even in stock form you will not regret the purchase of this device I love this device
Agreed. This thing is amazing. Came from a G1 and the lack of hw keyboard isn't a big deal for me (and I used the hw kb constantly!). No led notification is odd, but if we can do this button backlight mod....
What about AMOLED?
I don't get it-
Why are we looking for workarounds like lighting the menu buttons when there's a Super AMOLED screen to play with? Since there's no backlight to lose precious mWh's from the battery every time you want to show a light pixel, shouldn't a simple white text/pattern/indicator drawn on the screen with the rest of it black/off work as needed? Make it flash, make it off most of the time like a normal indicator, make sure that notification is bright, perhaps make it customizable, and bingo!
It might even be more efficient than some silly LED somewhere...

thanks i think ima go for it!
and whoever mentioned the screen idea, its deff not bad either imo but idk how thatd compare to the backlight idea battery-wise...i mean maybe youre right it might take less battery to flash the screen rather than the menu buttons

that doesn't sound bad at all, something like the battery icon that the screen shows when the phone is powered off but is charging. have a notification icon show on the screen and have it blink at certain values
yes sir. i'm all for it as well!
That sounds like a great idea. And different buttons could be set for different notifications. Like say the Menu button could light up if you have a new text, the Home button if you have a new E-mail, and so on.
I used to do a lot of Java coding, but am pretty rusty. Tomorrow I'm going to start looking into implementing any of the ideas mentioned here. Already installed the android sdk, just need to learn how to write android applications
Hi guys! All new to this site. I just got a z3c and everything is really great, but for 2 things:
The screen response is so poor, that if it can't be fixed, I'm returning it. Deal breaker.
Whenever I tap something, the screen responses in about 1 second. That is too long. Way too long.
Any of you tried the "Don't tap the white tile" app? (it's a game, where you have to be fast on your fingers) If you have (or you think, that your phone is NOT slow, please give it a go)
The swiping seems to be ok, it's the tapping that's delayed!
I'm hoping that it's just my phone and it can be replaced, 'cause otherwise I will have no choice, but to find another one.
Also is it not possible for me, to decide wether or not an app can have acces to internet? On iPhones you can manually dissable every app from using the internet, both wifi and regular. This can also prove to be a deal breaker for me.
I hope you can help me to find out if I should keep this, apart from that stuff, really wonderful phone or if I have to go back to iPhone, which I don't want to actually.
Regards Kokinos, Denmark
"Whenever I tap something, the screen responses in about 1 second." - that is definitely not normal. I am playing Wordz and screen response is instant.
There are many apps to control permission (e.g. Internet) for individual apps, but it requires root - APP OPS is the best. But you might try this, which works without root: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netspark.firewall&hl=en or this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.permissionmanager&hl=en

Thanks a lot, Dave! I'm so pleased to hear that, I will take it to the store and ask for a replacement then
-funny thing is, if I tap really hard, as in so hard the pixels round my finger turn black and I'm holding on to the phone with the other hand so tight, that it's on the verge of breaking, it IS possible to get the phone to react a, almost, once.
But swipe seems to work alright. I can't understand that. I actually thougt it was a software flaw and not a hardware one. But maybe I'm wrong.
I'll read into your links. My boyfriend might be able to understand a little more of it, so he'll help me
Nobody, that have noticed a delay on tapping, but not swiping?
Anybody I can convince to try the "Don't tap the white tile" game? It's free. I can play it fine on a iPhone, but on my Z3c the screen doesn't react fast enough. Unless I tap so hard, the pixels around my finger turn black and that can't be healthy for the phone.
It's not, that this game is important, it's just, that it shows very accurate, wether your sceen has delay or not.
That white tile game is the piano kind of game from Cheetah game studios? In case I just tried it and no issues with the screen response while tapping. It's more likely that you have a faulty device :/

Thanks for your not so helpfull comment. I would certainly NOT have pressed that hard, if it weren't for the fact, that I either would return it or have a replacement. Luckily I'm located in Denmark. We have excellent consumer rights. Otherwise I would be stupid to have done so.
