Hi guys iv been trying out most of the ROMs on here on my new rhodium and i cant seem to find one that fits my needs, i just want a stock ROM such as the signed one with everything stripped out of it and no viual mods but something that will allow me to add custom clocks, taskbars and such things as in a cooked ROM, i know this isnt a possibility as everyone is out to try and prove themselves so i came to the conclusion that making my own from the stock signed or vodafone roms i have,
I have done some basic programming before albeit in visual studio which does write the code for you but i understand the basics of coding and debugging
I would like to ask for the most basic of basic tutorials or links that will get me started, i.e: You will need Visual Kitchen V3...... [Link] and you will need to have [this] rom and such
As im pretty sure i have most of the resources i just have no idea where to start, I'd really appreciate any help!
I'v been checking out the forum for quite a while and have learned a lot, love the work you guys are doing!
Thanks again!
EDIT:
Im only trying to create a 6.1 ROM not interested in 6.5 due to the speed issues it has
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550028 may help, also Search is your friend

Give me a day or two and my PRO Super D-Lite (just thought of name for my new lite ROM) will be out and you will love the speed of it even with 6.5. I have an early test build in my older thread if you want to try it but the final is coming very soon.
I felt the same way as you with 6.5 but this ROM has me loving 6.5 now
Cheers Gordon,
And thanks Atom ill keep an eye out for it man!
And that thread Gordon linked to is great just what i was looking for, i did search but to no avail multiple times )=
Just keep reading and searching, all the info is on this forum or the wiki pages somewhere...

Are there any ROM Kitchens for the SX66 like the old LumpiStefan's kitchen?
His kitchen lets you pick and choose from a list the ROM's and programs to install, then it creates a flashable .exe file? That was the greatest site for the XDAI. Here is the link for reference:
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
Most of what you are looking for is on wiki.
The new tool that will let you create a nbf out of cabs to flash your device with the upgrade tool is im alpha stage. It can open both Type I (oldtool) and Type II roms, extract and inport cabs out of a nbf. Also you can save all type II roms as type I. Needless to say you can perform the same funtions as the old tool as well as extract the splash screens out of the ndf.
Before anybody asks the answere is NO as it wouod gerate to many questions and hinder the programmer, he has a day job
Edit Got d and b mixed up in nbf, changed text.

Thanks for getting back to me.
I'm not a programmer but have done rom upgrades for older devices like XDAI. I was looking for a non programmers version of a ROM kitchen like the link I posted. This one made it simple for
Do you know of one for the SX66?
Thanks, Joe
I agree its a cool site for non programers!
Wiki is all that I know of.
MDAIIIUser
Yes, as a non programmer this site was incredible for the XDAI.
Even for a programmer, imagine checking the box for each component you
wanted to load into ROM. These ROMs are very stable and packed with features.
If you or any other members want to create the ULTIMATE kitchen for the Blue Angel devices, this would be a great format.
Ayway, thanks for your posts, help and advice. It is greatly appreciated.
Building the tool is not that hard...but maintaining it...could be a day task (including helping people etc).
You need to regularly upgrade the page with the latest versions, and people always want stuff that is not on there...lots of work.
I am not sure if anyone around here has that amount of time and interest in doing so...
Hello all.
Since English is not my native language and I'm some sort of new and not familiar here, I may need your help.
Bought X1 last week, after trying some nice guys' rom in xda, I'm wondering if I could able to cook my own rom, I mean to customize my system. I was wondering if I could ripped those things come along with offcial rom but not need, and those things I needed but some really good guys' roms don't have.
So, I am thinking of cooking a rom for what I need, can modify system file it self, such like, rip out "Block Recognizer" and replace it with "PlumSIP" (A really nice Chinese input method), just for example.
And in 2003Se I know some external softwares can be customize installed by extrom, I found out WM6.1 seemed used a special way, like build into a single image file...
Well, generally speaking, I am hoping someone could help me, to show me some tutorial to read and do myself.
Thanks a lot.
PS:Have downloaded kitchen pack, but don't know what all of those soft. would do... For now, I just know how to decomplie an offcial rom in to nb files..
I would also like some info on cooking. I have searched and read a lot on this site but I'm no closer to getting anywhere. I tried to follow the instructions to backup my ROM as they are very easy to follow, but it didnt work.
Does anyone cook with Vista?
What kitchen programs are out there?
Do you have to have a specific kitchen program for each model of phone?
I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448809&highlight=kitchens but its outdated

X1 got its kitchen app pak, check this:
ftp://x1:[email protected]/XperiaX1/TOOLs/KovskyKitchen.zip
for now I am trying to figue out each module's really would do....
Try jerpleas kitchen in the sticky at the top to start out with. It'll give you the basic kitchen with which you can build a working rom (and simple customization)
Then search for ervius multilang gui for bepes tools (i've linked to it a few times now in this forum).
That's the best I've seen so far, you can dump a stock rom using it and start adding from there.
Cheers dude, i appreciate that :thumbs up:

that may help, thanks. but i'm still looking for tutorials for how to modify dumped rom files to fulfill my own needed.
The only advice i can give is to search search search... There was a large area of trial and error when i cooked my first rom. Some tutorials worked some didn't and its like a combo of everything that will get u going.
IMHO; ervius has the better kitchen, but not for beginners
I agree with Fards: your best bet is to start with the sticky posted one and get used to the basic cooking process on a first place
i think so too. use sticky.
to get feeling for cooking its not needed to read the "X1-TUTORIAL".
check tutorials for diamond, ralphi, hermes and kaiser ... than you will get some aha-effects and you will see some identical rules for syntax and how-tos for cooking with this sticky kitchen.
normaly its not realy possible to make a tutorial for every pda-type cause ...
i dont know why but its o.k., if i look to me i see me dont like reading but more not writing anything ...

good idea, you've pointed me a way.
but i wonder if that is something different from x1 to those diamond, kaiser, raphel blah blah blah...
if you need more petrol for starting i can say only "begin now".
its not realy the same but its realy realy realy near the same.
Hi all,
i am looking for some headway ...
how can I get my hands on winmo 6.5 with nothing but the bare minimum.?
I have a official 6.5 rom, could i use that to strip out everything right down to the bare os and then build up from there ?
then how can i get my hands on Manila 2.5/6 and cook that into the rom? that is correct right? since the HTC Sense is a new thing not yet released/available??
i have been playing with ervius visual kitchen trying to have a look at the custom roms but i see that you cannot extract them so that is a no go ...
my ultimate goal is to build up a rom that has and fits only what i want from my phone.
thank you.
Should do some reading first. THIS is a great kitchen to start with!

hi, thanx for the above, will give it a read ... looks great ...
i have read quite a few posts but they explain how to dump the roms and stuff but not great with details ... hence why i thought i could dump custom rom and see how it looks but that does not work...
I had a bash at PPC Kitchen but that does not seem to work either.
Thank you again.
Visual Kitchen can do some more stuff. There is a clear post in the Rhodium section where the user explains how to dump an original ROM. Don't have the URL but it's there
Good luck! And post your ROM on XDA of course
Still testing my WM6.1 ROM atm... ...hope it's good enough to release in about a week or so...

i think i have read that one ...
ROM Modding Guide to Visual Kitchen
and
Visual Kitchen
my biggest confusion is how i can get my hands on the individual components... like having a clean stock rom and loading the tf3d/manila/sense on top of that with the rest of its programs.
did a quick search and came up with 2 nice ones.:
ready to cook kitchen
and then this one:
[REF|TUT] My first Rhodium ROM - Completed

i am still quite a end away from posting my own roms ... like i said there is stuff that i want and stuff i do not want ... so it will mostly be custom to my needs ... besides there are a good few great chefs, my personal favourite is Ark_N with his cooked roms.
Hello everyone in the Blackstone thread.
Since I bought my Touch HD I always wanted the defice to perform as best as possible. During the last year I have tried many many ROMs and I have to say - none was bugfree (found one almost perfect - for me . Some bugs could be easily left forgotten as these weren't anyhow cruical.
But some were just heavily noticeable. These were from the WM6.5 world - generally.
After starting to look on the stability and performace, I have realized WM6.1 is still the best system for Touch HD - very fast, no unneeded options, great response.
I am looking right now for the latest WM6.1 ROM with latest HTC Sense 2.1. Or preferably for someone who is still cooking in WM6.1 world for Touch HD. Unfortunately I cannot find one (Dutty's v4.3 FINAL is a little bit outdated, and that's the latest one I have found ;/ ).
Anyone knows about such person?
If not I am going to try my best to cook such ROM, so I would appreciate any comments if there would be anyone interested and/or anyone willing to help me to reach the point. I am avaliable to spend as much time as possible to get this done.
Please leave a comment if you find this interesting for you.
G
i know raptordin is doing that
w6.1 whit sense2.1
he said he is almost finished
so wait a little more he will post his rom
Look at the Topix thread, Kwbr has been cooking 6.1 roms for quite some time. His 3.1.2 rom is supposedly bugfree!
I'm not sure if he's gonna update it anytime soon though.
I have to agree after months of rom flashing with manila 2.5. wm6.5 and 6.5.1...I did an official rom flash and had a play with the old 6.1 and wow it was fast and highly responsive.
so yes I would also be interested in a 6.1 kitchen with manila 2.1
where do we find one
btw almost forgot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547278
it is discontineud and dont know where it is to the things from now but its 6.1 whit sense2.5
its sayd its usable for every day you could always test till the 6.1 whit 2.1 is out
Sorry, don't want Sense 2.5 (very slow on HD), only 2.1 - it's enough for me.
But thanks for recommendation
i think the final version of topix wm6.1 is what youre looking for.

Sorry but KWBR will not be updating his 6.1 version anymore he has moved to 6.5 and has sold his HD.
I constantly keep coming back to this KWBR 3.1.2 rom
So fast, so reliable and so much more suited to our Touch HD's
I can simply use my device as it was intended, quickly take a picture, quickly review it, phone works, sms sends, review ballistically fast, all software just runs, soft reset is extremely fast, wifi connects without fail, background all tabs is simple, loads of themes....
But occasionally I miss the glossy Manila 2.5 with all its fluffy weather animations, but not a lot
If I could find a Kitchen for the latest 6.1 I would start learning to chef myself
here is a kitchen with WM 6.1 and Sense 2.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561056
unfortunately (for you) it's in ITA
Look on my signature...
Which kitchen?
OK, it seems I am going to build my own ROM. I would like to try to use some cooked ROMs as the base and continue from this point. Anyone knows how to proceed?
I have downloaded few kitchens already (jCEspi's, Ervius, osKitchen, PPCkitchen...) but having problems to use them properly. I haven't found any detailed howto yet, only some basics from the thread or attached readme files. So far "try-fail" style doesn't get me anywhere.
I would appreciate any help with some good howtos.
Thanks,
Gabriel
This might help

It maybe of help in getting started. Not sure if it contains a 6.1 Kitchen but Kwbr has compiled what would appear to be a great tutorial on how to cook.
kwbr tutorial isn't needed.
Basically all that is needed to cook - decompile ROM and compile it back (imgfstools, search in dev&hhack).
Kitchens is sometimes more pain than help for novice cook.
Cool, will get through these, thanks.
Since two days I'm finally a custom-ROM-user. I've tried different 6.5er and 6.1er ROMs...but nothing fit to my needs. So I decided starting to cook my own ROM...but I couldn't find a working doanload for kitchen nor a tutorial for creating ROMs. Hope, anybody could help me
I'm looking for one too :/
For a long time.
I'm interested on this too.
Lechux has shared his kitchen but i don't know how to use it. What tutorial i should read??
You don't have to learn cooking to modify & recompile any ROM if you have a working kitchen made by any chef. Special knowledge is required if you want to deeply understand how everything works, but you'll get it with cooking experience.
So the advice is to go to chef central and read stickies.
Thanks mate!
I've only been searching the x1-board. I'm going to read the stickies right now

Not only read, but also try to build rom using kitchen you have. Practice is the best for education (for example, I've made my first ROM after 2 days of reading & investigating)
I gave it a shoot. But there are a lot of things I couldn't find information about.
Cleaning my stock ROM with osKitchen Zero 1.33.5 was easy. But I couldn't built-in different CABs I'd like to have installed after hard-reset.
And I even don't know how/what to change to get a well prepared start-menu after installing my new ROM.
So do you have some links which explain that stuff to me?
I want:
-Different CABs being installed after installing ROM
-do some Registry-Changes & Change startmenu
good to hear, keep trying!

Learn how to make EXT packages, then you will be able to convert cabs to EXTs and include this new package into your rom. Also all registry changes are usually made in EXT packages. Good luck!
