udK's Rom without Manilaand Tom's Rom did have a working zoom bar, but now udK's Rom WITH manila doesn't have the working zoom bar anymore. Apparently none of the Roms with WM6.5 and Manila does have a working zoom bar anymore? Did anybody find a solution yet on this?
Actually Shadowline's WM6.5 ROM with Manila works. Zoombar works in Album, aswell in Opera.. maybe he know's the solution.
I think it's just a registry tweak that we need to enable...
Must have looked over it: udK has got a fix for his WM6.5 rom with manila in the first post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524224
Don't know if this is working for other Roms too.
Actually..
Actually, it works in both my roms and in l3v5y's. What it is, is TouchFlo (the scrolling, not the plugin) isn't 6.5 ready, but is required for the zoom bar to work. But a edited biotouch.dll fixes that along with disabling touchflo.

In the official WM6.5 Topaz ROMs (2.01, 2.02 and whatever the next one will be) there is an updated biotouch.dll which provides only the ZoomBar, and not the finger scrolling. This means you lose fingerscrolling in applications that don't support the native WM6.5 scrolling, but you also lose all the weird bugs with TouchFlo messing things up...
For those like me that could be confused about the latest builds when searching for a new ROM, I’d like to share what I found after a long search.
There are several different branches of development. Higher number doesn't mean a newer version.
6.5 Builds:
These builds have the 'Start' and 'Ok' buttons on top.
a) 219xx = COM2, WM 6.5.0
The latest build is the 21916.
These builds don't include finger friendly buttons, but it's the most stable, less memory demanding, fast and the one which is giving no problems with WM6.1 software. All programs I works perfect (activesync, Tomtom, games, etc.) including those for older WM versions.
The development of the WM 6.5 is finished.
6.5.x builds:
These builds have big Start and Ok buttons at the bottom of screen, and much more finger friendly.
Main programs works work ok but some old programs have position problems.
b) 230xx = COM3, WM 6.5.3
The latest build I found is the 23153.
This is branch used by the 'official' 6.5.3 devices.
These builds include finger friendly buttons, start button at the bottom and eye candy appearance.
I'm using (cooking) these builds for everyday use and they are stable and showing very good performance.
Last build was just released by DFT.
c) 290xx,
New branch.
The latest build I found is the 29022
It has good Ram management, it's stable and quite fast.
IE has flash support.
I've been using this branch for a few weeks with good results.
This branch is the only one active recently.
d) 216xx
The latest build I found was 21690
HTC branch development.
Good Ram management, stable and very snappy.
e) 236xx
The latest build I found is the 23699.
It seems to be very fast and stable.
f) 282xx
Latest build found was 28245
Apparently the latest builds are very stable and faster than other 6.5.x builds.
g) 24xxx
Latest build found is the 24635.
Seems to be fast, stable & visually appealing. Battery consumption seems very good as well.
Possible HTC branch
h) 235xx = COM5 [Discontinued]
The latest ROM I found is the 23569.
This is a development branch, finger friendly with new Outlook Interface and threaded email. It's not as stable as the COM2/3 builds.
The development on this branch seems to be finished.
i) other branches 6.5.x:
I found the 22047, 25028
Manila 2.5 builds (HTC Sense):
The latest one found is the build 2.5.2021 with manila home 2022.
Sense 2.5 is really great, even if it consume a lot of resuorces from your phone.
When selecting a ROM you will find:
- LEO Manila 2.5: It include all tabs (ereader, docs, footprints), but it's very slow on the blackstone.
- Rodhium Manila 2.5: this one is optimized for our old (slow) processor, it works on landscape mode, but it does not include eReader, docs and Footrint tab and some of the animations have been removed (music and pictures tabs on landscape). (note: you will find some hybrid versions based on the Rodhium manila with the missing tabs added. E.G: NRGZ28)
For the differences between Manila 2.1 and 2.5 check this post.
Manila 2.1 builds (HTC Sense):
The latest one found is the build 2.1.38411.0
Not as nice as the 2.5, but it's much faster and uses less memory.
HTC Packages:
From LEO: 3.14 (From TMUS HD2 including Manila 2.5.2018) .
From Rhodium: 2.10 (From ATT Tilt 2 including Manila 2.5.2013) .
From Oboe (Com3): 1.18 including Manila 2021
From Huasan (com3): 1.27
Pls feel free to comment about your experiencies on the different branches, and we will update the post.
Also I had a few questions/answers:
a) Does anyone know which is the WM6.5 build that is included on the devices which appear on the 6-oct? and which is the one found in the latest LEO?
Reply post #8: in Austria Samsung OMNIA II with WM 6.5 build 21856.5.0.65
b) Seen a lot of discussion about ‘page pool’. Is it something that normal users have to know, or is it just for cookers?
Reply post #8: Yes, you can improve the speed of the rom you're about to flash, but it will reduce the program memory
c) Why Manila (HTC TouchFlo/ Sense) can not be found as a Cab?
There are some developers which have created some instalable CABs, but as a general rule if you want to update your manila you need to flash a new ROM with the Manila version you want.

Thanks
Thanks for the info!
Thanks for info. Also looking for answers to your questions.
nice work
I wouldn't call those ugly fat buttons in the later versions "eye candy" though, seems people are split over how helpful they actually are, having tried them myself I found them to be unnecessarily large and wrecked the look of Manila. But each to his own I suppose, looks like that is the direction they are going with Windows 7
oh I believe the rtm version and the one on leo are the 218xx builds, they are far more stable and work well with Manila, you won't see any of the later fat button builds until next year at least.

Hmm... although the buttons at the bottom often don't look very nice - if they're skinned the right way, the do look great. And using MaxTTM to make the top and bottom bars transparent, it looks even better! And I just love that I no longer have to stretch my small hands all the way across the screen just to open the start menu or tap X ...
Interesting info, should shed some light for noobs and junior members alike.

c) 230xx = COM3, continuing development of 6.5.0.60
The latest one I found is the 23064.
These builds include finger friendly buttons, start button at the bottom and eye candy appearance, but seems that the Roms cooked with this build still have bugs.
We can find a few Roms form PhamQuang of on this branch and also Miri has posted some test versions. Hellonasty too: Maryone V0.01, V0.02 and V0.03 (coming soon with "Manila 1920xx" according to his last post edit)

I skinned the buttons too, (or just use the htc black theme) but still think they are needlessly too big and push the rest of the screen up, and having start at the bottom just doesn't look as smart and spoils the symmetry, it's seems tacky and clumsy in my opinion since it was designed with Titanium in mind and not htc sense .
Personally I think they should put an option to have the large buttons in the "accessibility" or "ease of access" section in settings along with the large font size and text to speech options....
Just an update (if you want to insert it in the firt post): Manila 2.5 1920 is out.

K
thanks...useful info in a single post...
pls keep it updated if you can
23016 and previous were not finger friendly ...
Nominated for a sticky if you ask me.
thanks for this info - its cleared a lot of confusion for me!!

Hey!
The way the buttons look is part of the WM-theme you choose. The one I use is called "htc black theme" (someone else here already mentioned that theme). With it, the buttons are no longer buttons but only the symbols - which already looks alot better to me.
And for the background including the bars you have to use MaxTTM (search for it in the theme section). It has a WM 6.5 option to get the background image to stretch behind the top and bottom bars as well: You have to open MaxTTM, head to the WM 6.5 tab and check a few boxes there. Since my HD is broken, I can't check the correct settings atm, but I'm sure someone else can help you with that! Also, there is a manual for MaxTTM which should include some useful information!
Thank you very much for your info. It is very useful for the junior like me.
Just some info to update the first post with: The screenshot attached is taken from Hellonasty's MaryOne v0.03 (which is bloody excellent by the way).
Good idea this thread. Hopefully, the OP will keep it updated.
Hello! I am searching for 2 days now and I believe is moment to ask. I want to know what is the latest build of wm 6.5 has the menus like 6.5.1. I want the normal taskbars because the bigger one from 6.5.1 is over bottom part of programs.
Cheers!
21884 is standard toolbars + finger friendly popup menus

Thank you!
I believe that is the theme that makes the finger friendly pop-up menus.
I've found this build: 21925 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhiYQwCIVdI
This is something that I need. But I can't find a list with all WM 6.5 builds and the differences between them.
Cheers!
Hi. I am looking for something like this
Code:
bit.ly/1882VA
UI transform, which is able to show the OK and the start button on the bottom of the screen, like on the pictures at the link below.
The ROM is unfortunately for Omnia only, so I was curious if is there any ROM for Xperia X1 or any transformation pack or something which can add this feature to my current rom (gtrab's Barebone SEX1 WM 6.5 ROM).
Many thanks for all ideas.
Regardless of the ROM and chef that built it, whats your favourite and why...is it the speed, looks or stability.
like the button design very easy to use
6.1 Nice and fast with zero problems. I don't use too many apps so the finger friendliness of 6.5 isn't much of an attraction to me and I don't like the 'Start' menu layout of it.
6.1 - fast, stable, supports drag&drop (in Total Commander/CE), has start menu with recent programs, it's easier to select items in listboxes (item is highlighted when you tap&hold on it so you know what are you selecting, this is overrided by scrolling in 6.5), has moveable msgbox windows (still can be dismissed like in 6.5 by tapping on the window content, you don't have to aim for OK/X), unlike 6.5.5 it is possible to run Wisbar Advance on 6.1 (and 6.5) to have icons of running programs right on taskbar, 6.5.5 doesn't support programs with toolbars (I had problems with Total Commander/CE - no start/close visible, icons too big so they didn't fit).
And yes - I like Total Commander/CE
24006 - 6.5.3 - no manila and htc stuff - titanium only. best battery-life, relatively good speed
28232 - 6.5.5 - no manila and htc stuff - titanium only. good battery-life, god speed
6.1 + Manila 2.1 - best combo for manila roms... relatively fast, but compared to win-only device... you think that it freezed sometimes when you are waiting for manila contacts, which are worse and unglier than win 6.5.* by default.
Depends on your needs... if you like social network engine, take manila one but choose faster and older sys. If you want to work and run programs mostly on your phone, then i recommend win-only rom. The best (and nearly only) way how to obtain it is to cook it. Try the Ervius kitchen here, it is ok - after 2-3 evenings you have your own baby-rom
is it good to set up another poll for UI shell choices for reference for chefs? like manila 2.1, sense 2.1, sense 2.5, titanium, clean (for spb mobile shell)...
Have tried a lot of ROMs of all flavors, but I somehow always end with some variant of 6.1
I still might choose some 6.5.x variant (currently have an eye on Miniterror's Ravage and Wajk's blackSTONEhenge)
I use 6.5.5.24001 titanium.
Pros: Very stable, fast, no memory management problems, very good battery life, polished graphics, finger friendly.
Cons: Some programs have problems with bottom toolbar, but such is life!
By the way, here is a good tip for handling the non-visible ok/close button: Just map it to the tap and hold function of the call button! This way, when you have an app that won't display properly, simply tap and hold the call button until the app is closed/minimized!
Bottom Line: 24001 is really rock solid in terms of memory management, thus I prefer this over a more compatible/conventional OS that has to be restarted every two days due to memory leaks!
Enjoy!
It's either WM6.1 & Sense 2.5 or WM6.5.5 & Sense 2.1 for me.

What wm6.1 and sense 2.5 rom are you using?
I like to use 6.5 with sense 2.5, as the windows 6.5 is stable and sense 2.5 has now got quicker on roms
i like windows 6.1 more bug free than 6.5.5
but 6.5.5 have nice bottom toolbar... more fingger friendly i think

+1 .
Stupid things in 6.5 & 6.5.x
Despite some minor improvement in 6.5 and 6.5.x in compare with 6.1, it’s so strange to me why Microsoft always forget some basic assumptions and doing very stupid modifications?! For example I cannot understand why in 6.5 and 6.5.x drop down start menu which is contained recent opened application is missed, while it was so useful!
Another Foolishness thing is the new lock screen! Why instead of locking the home screen or today screen which is contained user required information, a new lock screen created? And then due to the shortage of information in lock screen many developers are working to make it as complete as possible!? Also why there is a lock button just in Start menu page? If it’s useful to be available, why it does not exist in other pages?
Anyway, it’s always been fault of Microsoft! Day after day creating new things, but loosing basic concepts like ease of usage and simplicity. You can see this matter from moving from XP to Vista and then to W7!
I wish somebody were exists in Microsoft to listen to the customers carefully and check their ideas by himself.
it isn't very hard to figure out why they changed the lockscreen *whisperes something about Apple and the iPhone*
