Problem - Restore aust dream, stuck on register screen - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, my problem is that i am stuck on the google account registration screen after trying to unlock my phone through wifi instructions. After realizing i didnt have USB debuging on in the settings menu i am trying to go back to the original settings.
I had to use the goldcard method, so would i have to format my SD card, and flash a stock RC file to my phone? im so confused and just want to give it all up until i have the patience to try again.
Any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Dysengaged.

HELP PLEASE - before i get so angry with my G1

When I first got my g1 I loved it. Then the cupcake update happened. Everyone was overjoyed - except me. My phone went much slower and juddery, and loads of little errors happened. Now these are the 2 problems i need help with:
Rotating. The phone stays in either portrait or landscape mode and won't rotate to the correct mode with the keyboard sliding in or out.
And
Messaging. Whenever I send an sms message i get a force error as soon as the text is sent through.
PLEASE HELP ME :'( :'( before i go to t-mobile and cancel my phone - it has got that bad ((((((((((((((((((((((
If you need anymore info just ask thanks,
Ross.
You might want to try re-flashing the cupcake update, if your phone is rooted then you can search around and find out how to do it easily. If not you need to find the official tmobile cupcake update, I dont have any link for it but I am sure if you search here or google you will find it. You then need to plug your g1 into the usb on your pc and mount the sd card, if it is a .nbh file name it DREAMIMG.nbh, if its a .zip name it update.zip and copy it over. Then reboot into spl by holding camera+power and follow onscreen instructions. Good luck.
Try doing a wipe and see if that fixes your problems.
If wiping doesnt fix your problem id hit t mobile up for a replacement

Problem - first start login g1! Pls help

Hi,
first sorry for my bad english I'm german...
Today I became a new G1 without any contract.
When I turn it the Phone ON, it want me to Log In with my Google Acc via UMTS/GPRS, but I haven't any such roaming connection, only W-Lan/WiFi..
Now I want to know if their is a chance to avoid that with a W-Lan connection or a pc with internet connection or or or...
Later I think i would anyway root the phone and put an other fw/rom on the phone (cyanogen,mlign,....)...
But I would test the normal System first for comparing...
And I haven't an microSD adapter, yet, so i can't root or is their a possibility???
I hope someone can help me, because i want to use this lovely G1!
THANKS for Help!!!
ScorqYoN
PS: I already have set up a ADB, but it doesn't make sense because I have to downgrade or???
Has the downgrade any influence on the original rom, for example an older original rom or something???

first root your g1 so you can downgrade it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480
a card reader helps so you can place the proper files on your sdcard since you can't get passed the login screen yet on your phone.
then use the instructions here to get passed the login screen:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452316
good luck!
Don't you have an option to skip the setup process? It may be apart of the custom Rom i'm using though. If you go ahead and root it and you flash on the Cyanogen Rom you should have the option of skipping the logging in.
Yes, so for passing login screen with WiFi,
I have to downgrade anyway or, because I have to use ADB and the hidden console to activate or???
Other Question:
What Android Ver. uses the official T-Mobile G1 Release on retail phones???
Is the Cyanogen and other Roms in all ways better???
Because then I think i would instantly root and flash an other Rom...
But for that I need also a microSD Adapter to SD, so I have still to wait.
Or is their any possibility without microSD Cardreader???

Asop 2.2 rom to work without simcard!!! Plz help!

ok so I flashed the new mytouch froyo to my G1 and now that its booted up I need a sim card to get in can someone give me instructions to where I can somehow get in thanks! I can do anything involving the recovery terminal because I can not use fastboot. PLEASE HELP THANKS!
Why do you need fast boot? All you need is ADB. If you don't have it installed/don't know now to use it - you shouldn't be messing with Android phone at all.
Here is the info on now to skip registration or register with no SIM card. It's written for RC30 but should be very similar for later ROMS.
Good luck

You can do this: - lock bootloader
- power on device
- enable adb debugging on device
- make sure you have adb and fasboot working corectly
- connect device via usb to PC
- run RUU with administrator rights
- and from there on just follow the instructions given by software
- http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Golf
you really need the 2-4 lines i mentioned up for this to work
Well I managed to lock my bootloader and that, but when i tried to install the RUU it gave me a error. I think it might be an older version.
I think I'm going to need the 2.00.771.3 version :S
I think my phone is useless now. A bit of info, I tried factory resetting my phone (I have rooted my phone prior to this and stupidly thought that factory reset would get rid of the root) but when I reset my phone after the inital setup had gone through all menus it said setup has stopped working. Then my phone wouldn't work no apps or home screen, I could recieve calls and then go onto my settings at the top but nothing more then that, I'm not sure how I can get my phone working again now lol

[Q] Can't access Recovery when trying to load twrp

Hi Everyone,
First off I am a total novice and I put my hands up to say I should not have tried to root my phone. I merely wanted to root so that I could actually use the space on my SD card, which the HTC Desire doens't.
I did try to do this manually by reading a few guide and walkthroughs with no success. So then I used the sunshine app to unlock my bootloader and then WinDriod to load TWRP recovery and then hopefully root the phone. It does say ***unloacked*** on the fastboot menu. However, I sort of messed up my phone.
I cannot load into recovery mode - it goes to a HTC load screen then right back to fastboot usb menu.
I cannot factory restore the phone either.
Can anyone advise me how to return my phone to its normal state or advise on how to fix this problem?
Appreciate any help anyone can give me!

Hello,
Since you asked for help with returning the phone to it's normal state I have some questions. Does the phone work normally? Can you make calls, text, and do other things when you simply power your phone on or is the OS deleted? Are you just referring to obtaining stock recovery or do you still want to get TWRP? It sounds like some error happened when you tried to flash TWRP and now you have no recovery. Here is a great guide that shows you how to flash TWRP. You can use that same guide to flash the stock recovery. That channel also has videos with an alternate method to unlock your bootloader and how to root the phone.
My phone works fine, makes calls, texts etc, I just can't boot into recovery. I tried several methods, following online videos etc to no avail, but ill give this one a go this evening. I mentioned returning it to its original state so I could start over with the flashing process as nothing seems to allow me to load into twrp, so i wondered if there was a corrupt file or something preventing me from doing so. The phone's bootloader is unlocked I believe as it says so on the hboot screen.
Thanks for the suggestion, ill let you know how it goes.

The method in that video should work perfect. I doubt there was a corrupt file, but we'll find out soon enough. I have a love/dislike relationship with WinDroid. I love it, because of how easy it is to use and it requires little to no knowledge of what you are actually doing and it is just a beautiful looking program. I dislike the fact that you pretty much learn nothing when you use it, as it does all of the work. Also, if you use the adb drivers it provides and you already have adb drivers, you will receive an error that the adb server is out of date.
