I'm trying to factory reset my HTC Desire C has it was feely slow, but I'm having trouble un-rooting the phone, Does anyone know of any way I could do this with my model please?
I've tried Quick Root but that just seems to get stuck removing the perm-root.
Thanks in advance.
I've attached the info of my phone, thank you.

You can do this: - lock bootloader
- power on device
- enable adb debugging on device
- make sure you have adb and fasboot working corectly
- connect device via usb to PC
- run RUU with administrator rights
- and from there on just follow the instructions given by software
- http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Golf
you really need the 2-4 lines i mentioned up for this to work
Well I managed to lock my bootloader and that, but when i tried to install the RUU it gave me a error. I think it might be an older version.
I think I'm going to need the 2.00.771.3 version :S
I think my phone is useless now. A bit of info, I tried factory resetting my phone (I have rooted my phone prior to this and stupidly thought that factory reset would get rid of the root) but when I reset my phone after the inital setup had gone through all menus it said setup has stopped working. Then my phone wouldn't work no apps or home screen, I could recieve calls and then go onto my settings at the top but nothing more then that, I'm not sure how I can get my phone working again now lol

Hello,
A friend of mines recently gave me her HTC Legend because it was stuck on some loading screen.
It's isn't rooted.
She tried the OTA update for her device and since she did so, when the phone start, it doesn't ask for her pin code or what so ever, sense boot up, and then it keeps getting stuck on the loading screen when sense should appears.
Then after a few secondes it says : com.android.phone couldn't boot. Do you want to wait, force close, or send report.
I can handle my HTC hero but her legend seems different.. + without custom recovery I don't even now how to wipe or anything.
Anyway, could you FIRST tell me if there is a way, to try to re-apply the update (OTA not possible anymore since sense doesn t boot..).. or is there any chance not to wipe the phone ( cause she hasn t saved her contacts, messages etc)..
And if not.. how can I hard reset her phone (step by step please)
Thanks in advance guys!!
Use a search in the forums for the appropriate RUU.
Also, do not post questions in the development section.

Oups sorry, can a moderator move the thread?
Once i have the official RUU.. how can i flash it without a custom recovery?
I get exactly the same thing pull your sim car out start the phone up and complete all of the set up screens once you are into android turn phone off put sim back in it should work fine, but you will get a message about the sim being chanmged press clear if you press to change settings you will get another error and dont go into the apn settings or things get a little bit messy
To flash your carriers RUU, you may need a "goldcard" but turn off your phone and press the back button and power on the phone,to get to the fastboot screen, connect the phone to your pc and run the RUU.

If she recently updated to 2.2, then that's the problem. Plenty of people (me included) had this issue. No need to re-apply the OTA update or (re-)flash a ROM, just sync her contacts/calendar/mail to Google and backup apps via Astro.
Then do a factory reset and re-sync/install from backup. That's all it takes. Works like a charm after! ;-)
Hi, I have a rooted HTC One running the Google Play Edition ROM (first rooted device) but I stupidly hit the 4.3 OTA update when I got the notification. Apparently this is a big no-no, but I didn't know any better and now my phone can't get past HTC's splash screen. I can still enter bootloader and recovery (CWM 6.0.3.2) but that's about it.
I don't have a ROM on the internal memory, so can't just revert to the previous 4.2.2 and because I can't enter the phone's settings to turn on USB Debugging. The phone does not show up in Windows Explorer, nor in 'adb devices' when I do the usual thing on Command Prompt. The phone shows up in Device Manager under Android USB Devices as 'My HTC' but again, no device will appear in Command Prompt, otherwise I'd adb push a new ROM onto the phone.
I've tried clearing cache, dalvik and so on with zero luck. It's causing me all sorts of grief and I've been pulling out my hair since yesterday. I've heard that an OTG micro-USB cable might help by loading a ROM onto a flash card, but I'm looking at a few days delivery (at least) and would like to get this problem sorted ASAP. If you can help, I'll name my firstborn after you.

I think an RUU for your carrier will do the trick. There are a lot of RUU's posted in the HTC One forums in the various sections, search and find the one for your phone/carrier. Pretty sure that will do the trick!

Hi, I've read up on this option but apparently it unroots my phone and basically returns it to factory settings. This will be my last choice. Thankfully all my photos from a recent trip have been backed up to Dropbox/Drive, but I'd need to root again and jump through all the hoops. I simply want a way to get a new ROM onto the phone to flash it, but neither of my computers are recognising the phone in recovery, with USB debugging off.

Dude, have you a phone that won't get past the splash screen, and you're worried about losing data? If you could get a computer to see the phone, you could push a rom to it in ADB and then sideload it in recovery. If you can't, I think you're left with an RUU I'm afraid.

You can just root/unlock/s-off it after, you've come this far already so you should be familiar with the short process

Cheers for the info guys. I think I'll wait till Monday to buy an OTG cable, fingers crossed this will work. In hindsight, I should have kept some ROM on the phone memory or left debugging on. At least now I'll know not to do an OTA update on a rooted phone.
Hi Everyone
I humbly approach you today with a HTC One issue, that needs solving as I have no phone as a result.
So to put it simply I Unlocked and Rooted my device through this guide .
/watch?v=kJYAS2KN17Y
Following that I proceeded to gain S-OFF, or at least I believe I did. Checked the Bootloader after and it said S-ON :S Through this guide.
/watch?v=NeFwsqU4YL4
All seemed well up to this point, so then I followed to this guide to install 4.4 KitKat on my HTC One (I am based in the UK, and the network my phone runs in is O2).
/watch?v=AySbx90YB-s
However as it turns out, my phone will now turn on, I will reach the default Android Language Selection menu, and my phone reboots automatically before I can even press anything. I have tried to re-install the "bigxie_Reset_M7_3.62.401.1.zip" several times, and nothing has come from it.
So I attempted to restore my stock HTC rom, using the "RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_A4.13.3231.27_10.31.11131.05_release_310878_signed.exe" and it fails every time, and it also detects no image when I run it, it simply shows what image it will install.
Additionally I tried all possible USB ports on my computer to check for a faulty USB port with RUU, I have tried to push "Guru_Reset_M7_3.62.401.1.zip" through CMD (I am running windows of course) and naturally it hasn't worked (the push). Having not made a Backup because I blindly followed the tutorials, I have nothing to go back to.
I think the problem is that S-ON is enabled and I can't seem to find how to solve it, or enable S-OFF using the AIO Toolkit and pushing Revone. Anything that could help me get my phone working, and hopefully with stock Android will be greatly valued. Thank you for taking the time to read this .

I am not so good at android but.......a way to S-OFF HTC One would be using this video - /watch?v=MCMJkVbIiIg
It basically uses rumrunner to do so and for me it worked flawlessly
Hope you can fix your One soon.
FIXED!

Thank you for replying guys!
I actually managed to fix it by pushing TWRP instead of CWR and then installed Android_Revolution_HD-One_31.6.zip got my OS back and now trying to enable S-OFF.

Gratioz!!!!! Good luck for getting S-OFF.
I used rummrunner to get S-off. Works like a charm. Takes a bit of time to do it though, don't close it whilst it's doing it's thing!
I was/am rooted/unlocked, I flashed an unlocker for the hotspot, then the message for com.android.phone began popping up continuously. Tried accessing the bootloader, but for whatever reason, it won't let me get to it. It also appears that my Airplane Mode icon in Settings keeps rapidly blinking on and off.
I managed to turn on Debugging, but it doesn't seem that ADB can see the phone. I've tried to ADB into the bootloader and it won't work.
Windows DOES see the phone in Computer, so I know it does at least see it to access the drives on it.
Please, please tell me that there is still some way to make my phone work again.
Found my way into Recovery. Did a Factory Reset, but the issue is still there. Is there something I can flash that would fix the issue?
I don't care if I go back to stock, locked, unrooted. I just want my phone back. ^^;

Wow im just going down the list in Q&A and you keep popping up, lol. You are having way too many problems with a brand new phone, i would READ this thread and RUU.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
And if you do RUU and first thing you should do is a nandroid backup in recovery. Also depending on what firmware you have i would S-off(then again with your track record maybe not) If something stops working after you just did something(like flash a mod or app) you can always go into recovery and restore a nand backup.
Hi Everyone,
First off I am a total novice and I put my hands up to say I should not have tried to root my phone. I merely wanted to root so that I could actually use the space on my SD card, which the HTC Desire doens't.
I did try to do this manually by reading a few guide and walkthroughs with no success. So then I used the sunshine app to unlock my bootloader and then WinDriod to load TWRP recovery and then hopefully root the phone. It does say ***unloacked*** on the fastboot menu. However, I sort of messed up my phone.
I cannot load into recovery mode - it goes to a HTC load screen then right back to fastboot usb menu.
I cannot factory restore the phone either.
Can anyone advise me how to return my phone to its normal state or advise on how to fix this problem?
Appreciate any help anyone can give me!

Hello,
Since you asked for help with returning the phone to it's normal state I have some questions. Does the phone work normally? Can you make calls, text, and do other things when you simply power your phone on or is the OS deleted? Are you just referring to obtaining stock recovery or do you still want to get TWRP? It sounds like some error happened when you tried to flash TWRP and now you have no recovery. Here is a great guide that shows you how to flash TWRP. You can use that same guide to flash the stock recovery. That channel also has videos with an alternate method to unlock your bootloader and how to root the phone.
My phone works fine, makes calls, texts etc, I just can't boot into recovery. I tried several methods, following online videos etc to no avail, but ill give this one a go this evening. I mentioned returning it to its original state so I could start over with the flashing process as nothing seems to allow me to load into twrp, so i wondered if there was a corrupt file or something preventing me from doing so. The phone's bootloader is unlocked I believe as it says so on the hboot screen.
Thanks for the suggestion, ill let you know how it goes.

The method in that video should work perfect. I doubt there was a corrupt file, but we'll find out soon enough. I have a love/dislike relationship with WinDroid. I love it, because of how easy it is to use and it requires little to no knowledge of what you are actually doing and it is just a beautiful looking program. I dislike the fact that you pretty much learn nothing when you use it, as it does all of the work. Also, if you use the adb drivers it provides and you already have adb drivers, you will receive an error that the adb server is out of date.
