Ok, I have the GMAIL app configured to send/receive Google mail and well as mail from my ISP account. Is there a way I can configure the app on the myTouch so it is easier to tell each provider appart?
thanks

Just go into your GMail account and create labels and filters and you will be able to tell as they come in.
Yup just create a filter and a corresponding label.
That's how I do it.
will check it out...thanks guys

Are you saying that the Gmail app can be used to access a second email account, in addition to the main Gmail account for syncing? If so, how? Thanks.

You have to forward your second email account to your gmail account.

No, a better solution is to go into your GMail settings and have it fetch your emails from the secondary acct via POP3.

Hello,
I've got a gmail account, that I can use for push email.
In gmail i've set up 3 more pop email addresses to be received in gmail too.
My problem is, when I receive a mail using one the pop addresses and I reply, the from address is my gmail address.
Is there a way to change this to the email address the mail was sent to?
Thx in advance!

So far I've seen it on all roms.
When I push the reply, in the from field there is always "(Outlook E-mail)".
Well if your recieving your emails with gmail, even with other accounts, its still in your gmail inbox. So its gonna reply with gmail.

No, the phone and gmail app are tied to one account. However, you could always access additional gmail accounts through the phones web browser.
To sign in to another gmail account; you would have to wipe your phone to factory defaults and when prompted, enter the new gmail address.
You cannot have two Gmail accounts on the phone, mainly because it'll cause conflicts with the Market application and also when syncing.
Doesn't gmail on 2.1 allow you to have more than one account?

I stand corrected. Thanks guys.
I have a question about the gmail app vs the preinstalled email app.
I know the official gmail app recieves gmail instantly when they come, but can i just unistall the gmail app itself, an use the gmail setting in the standard email app, an still get emails instantly?
The gmail app pushes notifications to your phone. The email app pulls them to your phone.
The benefits of push are 1.faster notifications 2.better battery life because google's servers are doing most of the work.
when i hade my iphone 4 non of the emails were push but i had my gmail setup as a microsoft exchange and changed some setting and i was getting my gmail pushed dont know if this is the same as htc mail app

Yes it is if you download Gmail Unread Count from the Market.
Is there anyway to set this up to where gmail will push emails to the htc app rather than the stock gmail app? Id like to just use the htc email app instead of having my gmail sent to a seperate app.

Thanks! but upon reading the reviews, a lot of complaints about it draining the battery though.

You can add gmail as the mail provider but I don't think it will push though. You can setup when it should sync though.

I have my yahoo an hotmail setup that way, but my other 2 gmail accounts is through the gmail app. It would be nice to be able to remove the gmail app an have it push straight to the htc app though.
I know it is a late reply but i stumble on this one through google search, so maybe others are too.
Solution to get push mail in your htc mail app, is to add gmail account through exchange/active sync. Then you can set it to push as the refresh interval. You don't need the gmail-app anymore.

this may be confusing but i will try to type this out the best i can .
info: i have 2 email acouts on my phone lets call them
[email protected] <-set to never check for mail
[email protected]<-set to check every 30 min
reason i have them setup this way is so i can still create and have mail sent from [email protected] and not always have mail sent from me [email protected]
in my [email protected] web client server i forward all email to my [email protected] account
i always have my [email protected] set to send from this account by default
i also have the [email protected] account set as priority
the problem:
i open my gmail app and i have no mail in there
if i open the "email" icon i can see both my email acocunts then i can click on gmail ([email protected]) and i see all my emails , but i dont like the interface of this.
i like to use the gmail icon , how can i get all the email to show up when i click on the gmail icon ?
also , in the notification bar when i get mail i click on it and it opends up the view from the "mail" view , and not the "gmail" view.
as when you open mail and gmail icons they ahve different views , 1 you can deleate them by clicking the box by each email , which is the view i want to use.
arug so hard to try and type out whats happening , hoping somone can follow this mess.

worked like a charm , thank you so much sir!!!!
When using a POP3 account with the stock email app I checked "Delete From Server? NEVER" and it deletes the message from my server anyway.
Works fine from all my other phones. Anyone else having the same problem?
Mike
Same problem here
I am in the same boat. It appears that it does not do it immediately, but shortly after deleting. I have double checked my settings and all account say to never delete from server. This is troubling. It appears that the email app on the turbo is very different from all previous droid email apps. Messages saved from previous email apps cannot be opened by the trubo email app.
Anyone have insights on this?
Use New GMAIL App
The new GMAIL app can handle your gmail account plus any other POP / IMAP and even exchange I believe. I have my Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail and Icloud all setup in the new updated app. Much better than the stock moto email app. Deletion works too. Just a thought:highfive:

Gmail update showed up for me today. Immediately switched out of the Email app. Not sure it will fix what ails ya but, it's a legit contender to make it happen.
still the same in gmail and moto email

I tried the new gmail in both pop3 and imap configuration. When setting it up to never delete from server, it still deltes from server in both gmail and moto email in both pop3 and imap.
Over on turbo moto forum, it seems that moto is now looking into this issue.
Be aware.
Yup, the new Gmail app deletes them too.
Looks like this has been a problem with Google based email since kitkat. Sure glad Google is worried about it... /s
