I've poked around the forums and got to playing with the various taskbar replacements and they look really nice. Although everyone I have installed doesn't replace the start button icon, and [not sure if it's called this] the signal strength icon. All of the other icons get changed out no problem. The various packs i've downloaded, all QVGA compatible, too many to name here... I would make sure by checking the thumbnails that those particular icons are changed in whatever pack I download.
I have gone through the posts to see if there's any fixes for this and some have suggested installing "sdkcerts.cab" and a couple other ones all to no avail. Any ideas on this one, I really dislike the M$ logo for reasons that I don't want to into now but any suggestions on how to fix this minor issue would help satisfy my aesthetic tastes.
By the way I am using a T-Mobile Wing running the Aft3rShaved rom. Sorry Rim1flex, your rom is cool but I'll stick with the earlier 6.5 build for now... side issue though. To add this matter has prevailed on all other roms I've used. It's not a matter of life and death to resolve the matter but it is a curiosoty thing.
Thanks to all the cooks who have the time to do what I wish I could do
Just to change the windows logo on the start bar? Well the only thing I can think of is a program called Icon Demarrer. Google it or search the forums, you should find it. It changes only the start icon and the wait animation.
it's just the windows start logo and the signal icon that aren't changing that one cab u suggested was another one of the cabs I have tried but to no avail.

I have been recently messing about flashing various WM6 ROM's to see which one I might settle on, however I have come across one issue which annoys me so much that I would choose not to go down the WM6 route.
On the phone dialler I now have a bar going across the screen which displays two lines of my contacts. I don't want this. I want the usual phone layout that I have used for the past dozen ROM upgrades.
Is there a way to remove this? I have tried all the settings on the phone but to no avail. Will it dissapear if I re-skin the phone with something from Eten?
What surprises me is that I have not seen anyone else mentioning it on any of the WM6 threads - Does everyone like this new layout?
Vista Dialer
I also found this annoying. I downloaded the following
Jimm98y_vista_dialer.zip
in the development/hacking section. I think it is much better than the old WM5
dialer skin. You can see the screen shots there.
You will probably also need to edit smartskey.ini to allow the dpad to function in the Phone app. With the Underground ROM that was a pain if I remember correctly as it is a system and RO file. I ended up making a cab that created a \Program Files\Smartskeyand copied my smartskey files to that folder. Then stopping smartskey, deleting the shortcut in \Startup and then running Smartskey from the \Program Files folder.
What a PIA! Another reason I went back to the Orwell ROM (after I took the green comm manager with me..)

Thanks Tony. Just done it and it worked a beaut.
I've installed xplode's kitchen, just his own with all but terminal services checked, and it gave me a very strange glitch, where on the initial setup screen, there was no background -- only text and buttons. So I had to imagine where I need to paste that 11 o'clock. Then it did setup, but the today screen had all-white background, with no text in sections but only small icons between the lines. And the bummer was that the phone had the same white square where the keypad and number used to be! Nothing except top and bottom bars. After a couple reinstalls it became just very slow... Even on the initial attempt it didn't install at first so I had to run the installer the second time.
Fortunately, I needed to do a reinstall anyways to get rid of ExtROM, so I downgraded to 2003SE, removed ExtROM, and then installed Helmi's. It gave me the setup screen right away, and I was really happy! So I forgot to insert the SD card with ExtROM right away -- just did it afterwards and ran Autorun manually, then clicked on all three CABs. Is that OK? Looks like it differs from wiki, doesn't it -- no Middle Eastern CAB, etc.?
In any case, under Helmi's, I have a normal Today screen and a good-looking Phone. Why did their backgrounds disappear under xplode's?
Obviously, helmi's at 5.04, while xplode is at 5.35. xplode's has newer office mobile parts. I'd appreciate people's comparisons, and xplode's suggestions on how to fix the background issue!
because in mine the default checked things fill the rom space almost completely but if you check more, the rom in the most of the time is unbootable, in your case it boots to some state ... keep an eye of the free spacee left at the end of buildong of the rom.
The version of my rom is like that because i modified it, the drivers are the same as AKU2.3, in helmi the drivers are modified
Side Note, the title of this thread is misleading, and sounds stupid, for more info on both roms you can read the proper threads
xplode, thanks for the explanation -- I did read many threads, still that's a lot of data to parse. So how do I make sure, after running CreateROM batch, that the ROM will fit -- what exactly do I check?
Also, the comparison is not stupid at all -- when someone sees two ROMs, the first question is, how exactly are they different? Which one is newer and, well, better, right? Nothing wrong with that. Obviously there were reasons for you guys to come up with two different versions -- hence the questions. Reasonable?
I just got the Kaiser and noticed that the 3G icon looks awful. It's like it's stretched both vertically and horizontally or something. I have a Hermes 200 with one of the latest cooked ROMs on which the icon looked good. If I could move that over from one to the other, would be perfect!
do a search for "clean 3g icon"
I did that and found one thread that was for the Hermes at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315047
I was hesitant because it's not for this unit. At the end I installed it and now it looks better, but also replaced all the icons in the call history for incoming and outgoing calls which I am not a big fan of. The original ones were much better.
Can anyone post their phcanOverbmp.dll from a cooked rom like Sleuth's which has the updated 3G icon? That would probably work the best.

Install the Sdkcets.cab first then install the other one.
That's it! Great, thanks.
Just out of curiosity, is there one where the battery icon shows the percentage like this one, but it's still white? I think the green icon draws too much attention when there is no need for it. What would have made the most sense to me is for the battery icon to be white until it hits around 25%, change to yellow and at 10% change to red. Wishful thinking LOL.
Thanks again for the file.
hmm...while on this subject...id like to replace the "E" icon with the 3G icon....possible?
Hi, you can get the battery icons with white colour here:

Sweet!! No-one here has anything to do Sat night? lol I haven't gotten as many replies since I posted this thread than in the past 3 hours , all of them great too!

It's an international forum. We're busy during the day on Saturdays, but its night time for others, sitting at home one XDA before an hour before bed. Enjoy XDA.
But hey, hesitation stops you from enjoying wonders of the world. For XDA's theres always a hard reset.
I use a version of the battery icons created by Schen, as I prefer the slightly larger numbers to the one used by most people. What I want to know is if anyone has modified these since the Hermes days, as we can now get battery %ages in individual steps rather than blocks of 10%.
The one I use at the moment shows 100% until I get to 90, then 90% until I get down to 80 and so on.
If this has not been done - is it possible?
you all will probably think im crazy. but, does anyone have a cab for the "ugly" 3G icon everyone seems to dislike. i like it better, but i have found that every rom i flash has this "updated", better icon it would be greatly appreciated. i have a network settings cab that does it for me. but, it changes my connection settings which i dont like. if someone could extract just the icon change and make it a cab, it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! THANKS!!
Ive had this phone since february and im lost on how to change the display options on my phone. i found a great website for theme and a gr8 program for making themes also but i want to change the appearance the main display i tried installing but got lost in the middle of the process. Can anyone help me?
We can try but this is the forum for the HTC s730 "Wings" the T-Mobile Wing is a different phone and has its own forum.
What do you mean by display? You want a new theme? Different resolution? What appearance are you talking about? Button / Icon location color and such?
Need more info!

I mean as as far as different fonts and changing the way the menu and time look on my phone & im sorry I thought I clicked on the htc tmobile wing threads
Oh I dont mind if you post here, but you wont get a lot of full responses since we dont have the hardware
I am not fully sure of how your homescreen looks, if you have WM6 default home screens than you can edit the home page file and enlarge the clock, or download different home page files and run those (like you mentioned) There are also other programs that will install different clocks (dont remember any but have seen threads in here where people have used other programs).
The menu can be tweeked via the regestry, first get yourself a registry program and if its the same as our phone (should be since its window's driving this bit) find your way to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Shell you can modefy some of the registry files there to change the layout of the start menu, you can also accomplish this with some third party programs I believe but I have not used them.
Well basically ive just got my new HTC diamond today and was looking at installing a few apps, programs and themes ect.
But after spending 2 hours browsing the forum im just getting more and more confused by the minute about what you actually have to do
Can anyone link me or tell me how i go about getting programs themes and app's on to my diamond?? im mainly wanting to change the home screen (customize it)
Help Much Appreciated.
Jack
Right after further searching i found i need "TouchFlo 3D" i downloaded this and put it in the program files folder then go to install it on my phone and nothing happens, asif i dont even click it .. please can someone help!!
Jack,
Ur diamond out of the box already has TF3D, go to start>settings>today and choose on the second tab ('items') TF3D, click the X in the upper right corner and then your homescreen will change to the one with the nice flip clock on it.
But why don't u start with the manual that came with your diamond?
Get to know the device a little more, use it for awhile and then decide what you want to change to let it better suit your needs.
For tons of information and good applications you're absolutely in the right place here, though it can be a bit overwhelming at first, but you'll figure it out i'm sure (cuz i did to and i'm not a whizkid whatsoever..lol...)
Have fun with your diamond, it's a great device with lotsa possibilities

Well its not actually out of the box i meant new as in ive just got it
Got it off my dad as hes just upgraded, anyways after searching even more i decided to have a little play.
i followed this guide :
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211
And used this rom :
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=607860
But im getting numerous problems, at first it worked spot on with no problems then after about an hour i went to see if i had a message and it had froze .. now it just keeps turning itself on and off all the time and basically hard resetting itself as every time it turns off i have to do the stylus alignment and date ect.
What am i doing wrong?!
You're doing nothing wrong, but you skipped a step that's crucial when flashing a Diamond:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540290&highlight=mtty
If you perform mtty before you flash a new rom it will most probably solve all the weird errors such as you describe.
Hi, i tryed that but i dont have windows 7 just XP so its not compatable
sure it is compatible, it's even easier to use with XP cuz you don't have to change the drivers.
Be sure to read the first post of the thread carefully, lol, look at the big sentence in red:
NOTE: WORKS WITHOUT DRIVER INSTALL ON XP
Your right its working perfect now, but the tom only came with one keyboard option, and its not "qwerty" can i get an add on or something so i can get the other option's on my device (qwerty, compact, phone keypad)
Thanks for all your help Nirak
Just tryed two other ROM's and there both the same it shows in the screen shots that you can change between the different ones but i keep getting the same keyboard layout no matter what ROM i use, like it wont let me change it to qwerty or phone keypad
Could someone please help me, as its getting quite frustrating now.
Thanks Jack
