For the past couple of weeks, everytime I restart my Tilt, I lose a bunch of text messages. Any ideas? Still running winmo 6.1 I Think its time to upgrade to 6.5
I have expierinced this lately, sadly the only way i found to remedy it is to hard reset the phone and initalize the memory.
I believe it has something to do with a corrupted SMS, but i had too many to pinpoint an exact one, or even know if deleting that one would solve the problem.
I had that problem when I had too many SMS's in memory, so I had to delete hundreds of them from 6 months earlier.

This is really weird, but reinstalled the PDAVIET rom the other day, and now I've noticed that whenever I soft reset the phone, and I go into my messaging ... I've lost messages.
Even my gmail account that's setup via pop3 on the phone loses like the last couple messages, and then re-downloads them and they show up as new.
With SMS or MMS, it seems the last couple of txts or mms I received dissappear... it's really strange and that's never happened to me before
Anyone have any ideas as to why and how to fix that?
dD
Me too.
Yeah, I've noticed the same thing when I reboot. But it's usually the unread messages. Is it the same with you?

no, the ones for me were read and replied to ... it's really weird.
The only thing I have done differently is I did a hard reset on the phone with the pdaviet rom on there ... i don't know if that would make a difference.
Hmm...strange. It's almost as if it's not writing it to storage and keeping it in memory. Don't have a clue. Anyone else?

im still getting this... and it happens on the stock tmobile rom ... bc I was flashing the new 2.3 beta touch it ... and a message came in right after I flashed the RUU and the phone came on. So I put the phone on flight mode, and installed ASERG policies and soft reset ... when the phone came back from soft reset, the text was gone.... so it happens with the stock TMO Rom too.
I upgraded to 6.1 about a month ago and everything was working fine at first. Then a couple of weeks ago it started to freeze up when I attempted to open e-mail or sms. It doesn't happen when using any other function or program on the phone, but once it starts I have to soft-reset.
It doesn't do it every time. Sometimes I can send and receive twenty text messages before I have a problem. Other times it happens the first message after resetting. And other times, it just doesn't show me the letters I'm typing but moves the cursor forward.
Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have any advice on how to solve it? I'm not really fond of having to do a soft reset half a dozen times a day.
About a week ago I hit delete and let it do its work over night since it was going to take forever.
First off, my Tilt only deleted the messages in the inbox, not the outbox. Then a few days later I reset my phone to check something, then ALL my text messages were back, and all of the texts that I've sent/gotten in between were gone.
Is there a certain way I'm suppose to delete this stuff?
I don't know how that happened, and I cannot think of any kind of special procedure to deleting SMS messages. What happens if you just delete like 10 at a time? Does that work?
Dave
Well the thing about that, I have over 20,000 text messages stored on my phone hah.. So doing 10 at a time would just take wayyy too long.
Whenever I hit my soft reset button, all my text messages from that day to a couple days before are gone. It's kinda weird and I don't quite understand it. But yeah, I'm just trying to figure out a way where I can delete them all to where they won't come back hah. Who ever thought it'd be so hard.
Has anyone else ever had this problem?
I can't view MMS messages now because it tells me to clear more space. I've deleted several large size mms messages off of my phone, on top of a grip of text messages to clear space, but it hasn't cleared anything. How can I fix this?
Hard-Reset
I had the same problem on my T-Mobile MDA...never did figure it out. But whenever I deleted them, they always came back. I haven't tried deleting all my texts on the Tilt yet.

I think unpredictable things start to happen when you have upwards of 20000 messages.
The other week my phone crashed and i had to hard reset it because it was carrying 47000 SMS messages, i think the problem i had was the SMS datbase corrupted when i as attempting to delete my biggest thread, with well over 6 months of messages in it.
So yeah, backup your messages if you want them and hard reset, and id try to not let messages get higer than 15000, just so the phone has space to breathe
I have the same problem with msgs that return mysteriously on my ATT tilt running the factory (att) default rom. The first time I tried it I had around 5000 msgs and I ended up having to hard reset. Right now I have around 15,000 msgs and still have the same problem (obviously haha). I'm probably gonna upgrade my rom anyway, but I just figured I'd let you know you're not the only one (and not crazy haha).

Guys, I have searched and searched for the answer to this question and I've gotten close, but haven't found an answer. There has to be a way, I just know it.
So, I know that this phone (HTC Touch Diamond) has the ability to save SMS messages, because there are still some there when I turn on the phone. Great! BUT, sometimes when I reboot the phone (either just turning it on and off or having to do a soft reset after a freeze) recent messages (both SMS and Email) are missing. The span of time often varies.
WHY? And how can I prevent this?
I've seen several solutions that mention saving them to my PC, but I'm so often away from it when this happens. And I can't predict when it's going to freeze.
Is there any way to increase the time interval for when it "permanently" saves/commits these messages to memory? I feel certain from what I read that it has to do with RAM and ROM but I'm just so tired from searching that I can't even see straight anymore...
PLEASE HELP! It frustrates me to no end...
Thanks!
Bump? Bueller? Bueller?
Nothin? Has no one else had this problem? Should I just get a new phone?
Hi, I don't know if we have the same problem, but I recently am also losing my text messages after soft resetting my diamond. I tried backing up to my PC and also Microsoft My phone, but I still want to find out what's wrong with my device... I thought it's supposed to be virtually unlimited memory for SMS
It's not a problem of memory, WM doesn't save the messages instantly when you receive, the only trick i can provide to you it's to open your inbox (SMS Tab > All messages), and wait a few seconds (5-10), and Soft-reset.
Only do it if you have received a SMS 5min ago max, of course.
i had the same problem, deleted all my messages (also concepts) and this solved the problem
been texting a lot lately and just recently ran into a problem running. i was running into issues with the signal dropping completly and then coming back. my friends experienced the same problem so i figured it was just the area we were in. i got a sms notification for 1 unread message the other day and this is where the sms problem started.
upon trying to open the unread message the phone would hang with the 'thinking' circle. the message would open but only after almost 8 minutes. the home screen will say no new messages but when i opening the messaging program it still shows as unread. the phone will hang and become unresponsive if i try to do anything to that unread message.
i cannot send out messages either. i can write them perfectly but the phone will hang once i try to send or save as draft.
lastly, i cannot recieve messages. not sure why. none of my settings have changed. i did a soft reset and deleted the inbox.xxxxx folder on my sd card with no success.
i'd like to see if anyone has a solution to this problem before i try to hard reset. i have a non-modded att tilt running, stock wm6.1 w/o bloatware. radio had never been changed from the wm6.1 upgrade.
cliffs:
cant recieve/send sms
phone is not responsive when sending new message
backed up PIM data and did a hard reset. sms/mms was still not working after the initial reset so I reset it again restored PIM. sms/mms is working again.
