Radio updates & jf superuser

Just a quick question, I have a phone that I just recently rooted and put the latest jf firmware on. I didn't however do the radio update.
I'm just wondering if it's ok to do the radio update now, I only ask because the adb/fastboot/nandroid guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719 says you should do radio updates before updating the SPL. (I already have hardSPL on the device)
Also for whatever reason the superuser app has stopped doing anything, it comes up with a black screen, but just hangs with no buttons or text and needs to be force closed. It's not a really big deal, I'm probably going to wipe my current firmware and go to the latest cyanogen, but if anyone knows about this issue it'd be helpful.
You should update the radio otherwise you might experience some problems. When you were reading about updating radio before spl they are talking about the new "danger" spl that you need for hero, so your fine. As far as your other problem, just wipe and update cyanogens rom. JF roms are out of date.

Going from ebi1 to ebi0

hey guys, I don't need to remain ebi1 because I don't use data.
I was wondering if anyone has a link to a page describing how to get from ebi1 to ebi0.
I did a google and forum search but only found threads going from ebi0 to ebi1.
Also, if this even possible if I have flashed my spl to danger?
nm got it.
I'd be interested to hear if you see any changes in reception, whether you have more/fewer bars...
wow, I am now getting MORE bars, in my home I normally get 1-2 and rarely 3 bars.
Right now I have 4 bars.
I'd like to know as well, how to go from EBI1 back to EBI0. I'm on US AT&T network and don't care about Roger's mandatory update. The phone is rooted with the latest Cyanogen EBI1 mod, but I'm experience exact symptoms as desribed in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=632115&highlight=EBI1
Massive data drops I never seen before and "no service" in the morning.
follow :
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_Rogers_Dream_EBI1_to_CyanogenMod
skip the parts you have already done (like maybe the spl part) when it says to flash the ebi1 radio 3.x, instead use the ebi0 one 2.x
and when it says to flash the R version of the recovery, flash the non R version
Remember this is highly dangerous and must be done in fastboot mode! DO NOT reboot untill BOTH the radio and recovery have been changed, rebooting while only one has WILL cause a BRICK.
I take no responsibility for what YOU do!
Should I reflash system image and/or Rom, or just radio and recovery?
You are going to do this
1)fastboot the radio
2)fastboot the recovery
3) flash in recovery what ever rom you want (obviously without the ebi1 kernel)

Ebi1 --> ebi0
ok so i have a rogers Dream aka G1. It HAD the 3.xx.xx radio, the EBI1 radio. I wanted to be able to use more roms so i downgraded it to the EBI0 radio. But now I can't seem to access data plan services? Any ideas on this? do i need to have the EBI1 radio in order to access Rogers data services?

No, robbers is criminally blocking your services for being smarter than them.
You need to find the "opt out" button where you can get your data service reactivated.

Froyo update radio

I updated my phone to froyo and have been testing out previous radios to see if there is any difference in reception at my home. Normally I would just reflash the froyo rom to get the new update radio, but I have bought some gameloft games. I would not be able to reinstall the games after a wipe. Anyway, does anyone just have the new updated radio, without the rom? Or does anyone just have link to the newest radio? I searched and could not find one.
Thanks,
Just extract it from the rom with a radio.
Better question is why you can't reinstall games you bought...
How would I install the radio if it is not a signed zip file?
Because gameloft does not allow you to redownload the extra files you need to play there games. I could back it all up and reinstall, but I am hearing from other users that there is problems getting them to play correctly after a wipe and reinstall. There games are not yet available from the marketplace, and I do not want to have to pay the games more than once. I do not want to have to pirate the games. Better off to support the devs.
You can flash it via fastboot.

What is the difference between... [SOLVED]

Hi,
I have a question. Does anyone know the difference between the 2.22.23.02 and 2.22.19.26I radio? I think the xx.02 is USA and xx.26I is non-US? Is that true? Can the xx.26I radio be installed on a USA T-Mobile G1? Or would that result in a brick? I would like to know the difference between these two radio's and their advantage/disadvantages, if there are any. I think everyone refers to the xx.26I as the "new radio"?
I currently have the 2.22.23.02 radio on my device.
2.22.23.02 is referred to as the new radio. However, there is an even newer radio that is out (2.22.27.08), that gives you 14MB of extra RAM, but is only really compatible with certain ROMs. All of these radios can be flashed on the T-Mobile G1. If the radio shows up in the Android Development section for the G1, it is safe to use.
I think that the 2.22.19.26I radio has been reported to work better in countries that are outside of the USA, but since you live in the USA, I think that the 2.22.23.02 radio is the better one. I think that people who flashed the 2.22.23.02 radio have reported better battery life. But I'm not sure if that is true or not. But, if you want the newest thing, try out 2.22.27.08. I flashed the 2.22.27.08 radio and the SPL that went along with it yesterday, and it's been working great so far.
Just as a warning, you have to be really careful when flashing radios/SPLs. If you flash the SPL before the radio, you will probably brick your phone.
Well, I'm using this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811620&page=126
and I think that is compatible with the 2.22.27.08 radio. I'm not sure yet if I'd want to flash it though. I think I would need HBOOT-1.33.0013d, right?
Most likely won't flash lol, 14MB additional RAM is only like... such a very small difference?

19.26, 23.02, 27.08, and 28.25 are just improvements on the radio. It tells the phone how to poll the towers and can increase signal, but more frequent polling cost power. Depending on your carrier and area, you may see an improvement, but it's not guaranteed. I gained a full bar with the 27.08 radio. I got the same plus better 3g with 28.25. But my battery only last 2 days on standby, and about 3 hrs of heavy use. That's what car charters are for.
There is an older radio that came with rc29, that can brick your phone when flashed with hboot 1.xx.xxxx or higher. 19.26 was the old "new" radio that was needed to avoid a brick. Just make sure you flash radio before hboot and you'll be fine.
Yes, you need 0013d to use the 2 newest radios, and its well worth it. 14mb of system RAM causes a significant performance boost. It's better than the old RAM hack from 1.6 and doesn't affect the gpu. There is a kernel patch that allows it to work with almost any Rom.

Okay thanks for the additional information. I tried flashing the recovery, but I get this error:
error: cannot load 'recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0-cyan.img'
What did I do wrong? The .img file is on the root of my SD and is named exactly what I input into my terminal. Is this error because I already have the amon-ra-recovery V1.7.0? But this filename has the "cyan" in it.
Oh btw I forgot to mention that my current SPL is 1.33.2005, so I should be able to flash via fastboot.
Okay never mind I got it working. New recovery, baseband, and SPL ^_^ thanks for helping guys.

[Q] better radio than 3.22.26.17 for post 911 dream?

I'm having a TON of issues with the current radio. I flashed the updated radio during the whole 911 patch fiasco and ever since the phone will just randomly not be able to send/receive text messages or phone calls. I've read that some of the newer radios (6.xx) and the older radios are compatible.
Current Specs:
Rom: CM 6.1.0 with patched kernel
Radio: 3.22.26.17
Model: HTC Dream 32B
You should update to the ezterry's newest radio and spl.
They also come with an extra 14MB RAM!

seems cool, but I was hoping for something simpler... Ah well if it gives me back the use of my phone...
It will, trust me if you need a guide, on how to flash it, go to the g1 development forum, its either on the first or second page

Absolutely under no circumstances *EVER* flash via recovery a 2.22.* radio when you have a 3.22.* radio it *WILL* brick your phone
on a similar note:
Absolutely under no circumstances *EVER* flash via recovery a 3.22.* radio when you have a 2.22.* radio it *WILL* brick your phone
And on that note another few reasons why we recommend using fastboot
If you have a 1.22.* radio and install Danger SPL or 1.33.0013/0013d SPLs via recovery you will also brick your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139 is safe for ALL dream users, always use that fastboot method for installing 1.33.0013d or ask ldrifta to pay for your replacement phone.. anyway those other instructions are for downgrading a t-mobile dream.. while 60% of the time it may work.. downgrading to out of region firmwares causes headaches when an NBH fails to apply the first time.. since you can't simply re-flash and move on.
(anyway the rooting guide for the e911 dreams already expects the users to install fastboot/adb so it ought to be easy to fastboot the radio+SPL.. the only real problem with my thread is some people feel overwhelmed with the full operation guide of the new phone the Radio/SPL transforms the phone into)
