Not sure I want to touch winmo 6.5 until it is officially released...

I tried a couple of 6.1 ROMs here but they seems only porting the themes of 6.1 device, appearing like 6.1 ROM but don't have 6.1 applications such as new Office Mobile, OWA mail sync, New MSN messenger etc. Even control panel applets are copied from WM2003 ROM.
I am looking for a ROM support most of 6.1 features such as OWA and new MSN messenger.
If the Flash ROM of XDAII is too small, can we install them on storage card or RAM Disk?
well first of all these are not just themes..its a fruit of all the Developers and cooks...If you want a real WM 6.1..then i suggest you buy Htc Diamond..it has every thing ( no offence )
I have to say sorry for my words that sound offensive to ROM chefs. I just tried c_shekhar's ROM it does have new Office Mobile and supporting OWA. However mail and poutlook use PPC2003 style UI and MSN messenger looks quite old (it couldn't connect for some reason).
I do have WM6.1 devices (even used HTC diamond for a few weeks) so I know differences.
Thanks for developers great works to give rebirth to this old but classic device.
By looking at other WM5 devices that using customized WM6.x ROMs such as XDA mini, I wonder there might be a XDA2 ROM does as good as them.
Well, these are true WM6.1 ROMs, but they're cut down, as Himalaya is running off its ROM space, and a whole WM6.1 wouldn't fit into it...
Official HTC TaskManager 2.1.34320.1 (CAB, in attachcment)
It works with some of the newest cooked roms that does not have a task manager build in on the home screen. (like Garmin DK2 Final)
Improved interface.
Very useful, thought I'd share.
Does anyone have a clean WM 6.1 ROM for the Rhodium? Something that has no HTC enhancements.
Like this 6.5.1 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=551282&highlight=clean
What I actually looking for is a completely clean ROM with only QuickGPS, USB connection popup & HTC Keyboard. No other extras. Anything like that out there?
I did a lot of searching but found nothing. Ill even cook if Im forced to. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!
There are some "LITE" roms out. But I do not think they are that stripped out (only Quickgps, USB Connection & keyboard).
Try contacting At0mang. He might be able to customize a ROM for you.
Or you can try one of his LITE roms (Fusion V5.5 Lite CHome HTC Dialer)
clean rom with Touchflo is what im looking for, either wm6.1 or 6.5.
if anyone has a link, plz be nice post them..
May not be exactly what you're looking for, but it is a very clean, lightweight, reliable 6.1 ROM. Here's the link:

This rom does not support anything else but the stock hardware keyboard layout, also its based on a Raphael ROM.
Yes thing is the best alternative for WM6.1 a.t.m and its what I am using. But it has lots for things which I dont use and they just take up space. Like : RSS, Worldcard, Streaming media, Touch Off etc, and it doesnt have HTC Keyboard. On a clean start the ROM has 350MB storage space. But the WM 6.5.1 one that I linked above has 385MB (and it already has HTC Keyboard and USB popup).
Ive pmed At0mang, lets see what he says.
Please update the thread with your findings. I'm in the same boat as you. Looking for the Cleanest, Latest and most Stable build with just enough programs and cabs installed to make all the TP2 features functional with Manila 2.1.
I don't get it. I used to have a Hermes (64MB TOTAL RAM) with duttythroy's SUPA DUPA LITE (WM6.1) and after boot it would ahve 30MB Free RAM. I can't find beyond 145MB free RAM on the cleanest of the cleanest and the lightest of the lightest Rhodium ROMS, a device with 288 MB RAM (This is ofcourse with no Manila)
Do the drivers really take up that much space?

From what I know is that 288MB is not the total amount of usable RAM either. Some of it is video RAM, but how much I dont know. On the Diamond for example the RAM was 192MB. 64MB Video memory and 128MB RAM.
As for the ROM (512MB) most of it gets wasted on things I dont use. The max Ive found free in a ROM was 385MB. That was the link I posted above. Its a WM 6.5.1 ROM but as such not very stable.
I am making a list of things I want removed and others that I want kept, I will post them here as soon as Im done.
So far thanks for everyone's support.
Edit : Here is what I would like the ROM to be like
Based on WM 6.1
All HTC things removed (even thier 3G icons & Commanager, I will install my own) execpt for USB connection popup, G-sensor calibrator, Kinetic scrolling, The new bluetooth stack, HTC End key, HTC Large start menu & Camera.
Some Microsoft things that should be removed : Calculator (if nothing depends on it), Office Mobile, Windows Live & Messenger, Games, extra themes (leave only one, the default one), Ringtones (leave only one, the default one), All the non essential stuff in "My Documents" folder, like Pictures, Wallpapers, Templates for camera & MMS.
Things in the settings folder that I want removed : Encryption, Clear Storage & Connection Setup (the thing that sets-up carrier setting. These I can do myself).
Based on WM 6.5
All the above plus remove IE6 (not PIE) because most of the web plugins dont work with it and I use Opera anyway. Only reason to keep PIE is because I need it for LogMeIn. Also remove honey-comb start menu and use the default WM one.
One thing to keep in mind is that I have a Swedish Touch Pro 2. So I would like to keep the files require to do swedish input via the hardware keyboard.
I dont really think anything else could be removed without causing harm to the basic functions. Although Im open for suggestions.
So any ROM developer up for it ?
Edit 2 : Some other things that can be removed : Error Reporting, Help, Remote Desktop & Search.

WM6.1_21048_M2.1 Jackos Oldschool ROM v1.1
it's good
Hm, the last recommended thread just says 'nothing here' in all posts
Did you ever get one?
I really want a blank WM 6.1 with just the enablers for the various hardware features (GSM, UMTS/HSPA, GPS, aGPS, WLAN, camera, hardware keyboard, etc). No HTC keyboard, thank you very much
Dear HTC hd touch users.
As the title says what ROM are you guys using and why are you using it?
Maybe u can say some good and bad stuffs with that ROM. Also which ROM are you recommending and why are u recommending it?
Thanks for answer
Kind Regards
I vote for 3:
- Original HTC ROM. It works, it's light. Of course no Manilla 2.5, Opera is only 9.5, Office Mobile is old version. But it works pretty fine.
- Topix 3.5 WM6.1 Manila 2.1. This is light and fast and everything works fine. It's missing lastest Office and Opera tough.
- millski rom[21897]
I'm running this one now. It's not heavy for a WM 6.5 ROM. Has all the basics and no extra unneeded programs. It feels slower than WM 6.1 of course, but it's usable. Has Office 2010 and Opera 10 integrated. All WM 6.1 programs I usually install work here (in other WM 6.5 builds you can find incompatibilities)
Thanks for the answer!
I thought that updating ur ROM from 6.1 to 6.5 would make ur phone faster and more stabile but u are saying that it feels slower? explain please'
Thanks in advance!
WM 6.5 is heavier than WM 6.1. The only thing I saw going faster is installing some programs. Manilla 2.5 is heavier than Manilla 2.1. Manilla 2.5 with all tabs is heavier than it with footprints, facebook or e-reader tabs removed.
You must think of that when choosing a ROM.
A WM 6.1 ROM has more much RAM free than a 6.5 (130 MB vs 90 MB for example). This is important if you launch applications like Opera 10. Touch HD2, with 1 GHz snapdragon and 512 MB od RAM, can handle WM 6.5 better. Touch HD is not designed for WM 6.5.
If Kwbr or someone else decides to update the WM 6.1 ROM with IE6, Office 2010 and Opera 10, I'm flashing that. Right now you can use a light WM 6.5 (48% RAM used on boot).
I just love Energy ROM...they are the best in term of full pack features (all the latest) and if you are in for a beauty (eye candy) stuff. Currently I am using the Energy ROM 23554 with GTX theme (truly AWESOME!)

I would recommend Cloudy 1.6 or Topix 3.5.10, both wm6.5 roms, close to stock, low ram useage, ive had no problems with either of these roms.
Don't use wm 6.5, its stable when you don't install apps but If you install your apps, your hd will run slowy and unstable. I prefer kwbr 3.1.2 its is wm6.5 with manilia SENSE 2.1, I updated microsoft office to 2010 and opera to 10 final. All my apps are intalled, about 60 apps and it stil runs smooth, stable and fast. I've tried all the recent roms, and I always flash back to kwbr 3.1.2!! KWBR 3.5 wm6.1 sense 2.1 is in my opinion not beter than 3.1.2
If the point of this thread is to find out which roms people use & why so you can decide which to try.....my best advice would be to try a few yourself. You're never going to know which build is for you unless you try it.
Yes wm6.1 is quicker than wm6.5, but you may prefer the latest builds in wm6.5 over wm6.1
Its a matter of personal taste and everyone has his/her own likes & dislikes
Threads similar to this have been opened countless times before and closed for the very reason that its opinionated which creates endless long threads as each user will have a different opinion
For the same reasons I am closing this thread
Is there a Kitchen available that is wm6.5 with manila 2.5. I tried to port it but I keep getting errors in the rom,(all I get is the todayscreen with no other tabs and no soft buttons)( or manila 2.5 doesn't load at all) I dont know how to fix this so I am asking if anyone has a kitchen or knows where I can get one with wm 6.5 not 6.5.x with manila 2.5
I am confused by your request - if am not misunderstanding you, then just download OsKitchenZero by airextreme, import the stock 2.07 Rhodium Rom, and you have your kitchen with manile 2.5 and normal 6.5. Thats how I started but have imported a 6.5.x build and rebased to that. Very happy.

Dosen't the Rhodium 2.07 have manila 2.1, I am trying to get the manila from hd2
Nope, it came with Manila build 2012. (Which is 2.5 as far as I know)
I have found that all the later ones from the HD2 that have the extended tabs use up a lot of memory when run with Cookie Home Tab. (if that is what you are after then that is a later build of 2.5 and I do not think it exists natively on the Rhodium - obviously it can and has been cooked in Rhodium ROMS, but was not meant for it.)
I have found that running Manila 2012, with Cookie Home Tab 1.6.1 and disabling tabs I do not use (music, internet, stocks,Photos - I mean I just run Opera or S2P from the quicklinks - dont need a tab) gives a faster and more reliable system. I have found the memory management on 23569 when combined with manila to be excellent. My phone idles at around 30-35% free and regains memory when you close apps.
I have also inserted the HTC messaging 1.8 (from build 2015) in the mix as well, works fine).
WOW I feel like the guy who just wlaked out of the stall with a string of tolit paper stuck to the bottem of his shoe:S

sorry - not my intention. justt trying to share what little experience i have.
i could never get all the roms with all the nice eye candy to work consistently enough and be stable over say 3 to 4 days for me to be happy.i would still recomend air extremes kitchen, then follow his link for the latest leo packages, and upgrade to the manila you want that way.

crazyC, There are some excellent ROMS out there but they just aren't quite my flavor so I've decided it's time to cook my own. I just ran into this post (i know a little late) but i was hoping you'd answer the following since you have exactly what i wanted to build.
1. The most stable stock Rom i found for my phone is the ASIA 6.5, is this the same one you started your Kitchen from?
2. When you added the 1.8 HTC messaging client did you have to upgrade some of the other Sense packages too or just the client.
Thanks...
