overclocking our Diamonds (MSM72XXX) to 768 MHz

"Touch Pro running at 800MHZ???

I swear it’s working, really, see screen shot attached… Short story – I knew that the number of clocks on MSM devices are limited (Actually, that’s a pretty relative term – the MSM has a LOT of clocks for a single chip), the main problem is that there isn’t that much resolution with the clocks, and that there aren’t that many high clocks to choose from – in fact if you look at the clocks available on MSM devices, we have:
TCXO: 19.2 MHz (for CDMA clock)
GlobalPLL: 800MHz
BackPLL0: ? MHz
BackPLL1: 1.056GHz
PLLTest: ? MHz
USB: 48MHz
Sleep: ? MHz
So the standard frequencies for the MSM are obtained by BackPLL1 / 2= 528MHz or GlobalPLL / 2 = 400 (384) MHz.
But just a few minutes ago, a lightbulb lit up in my head, why not just TRY setting GlobalPLL / 1 for the applications ARM? … And to my surprise, the device didn’t freeze.. it worked just fine actually. And there is a noticeable improvement in speed ( ~ 330 integer @ 528 MHz , ~456 integer @ 768 MHz).

I guess this’ll be finalized into a tool for some sort. Guess overclocking this thing was possible =p.
Note: Before I get a bunch of stuff about 1.056 GHz, no, it didn’t work on my Touch Pro, it locked up!"

I think the operation speed of the HTC S730 is not a disaster, but just annoying. Basic things like opening the contacts or the Commanager etc. take FAR too long. I always use FreeRAM and other tools, keeping the free RAM at a maximum. But still... the speed is really annoying.
Are there any tweaks for a general faster reacting HTC S730? I mean it got 400MHZ!!!IT's supposed to be faster than that. I mean even opnening the slider needs like 3 seconds to adjust the screen. How is this possible with a Smartphone of 400MHZ. My stupid (old) Samsung slider reacts in 0.3 seconds after opening the slider, it got 15MHZ.
I MEAN PEOPLE, WTF
Please help
mm
I think it performs ok. This is my first device running any form of mobile windows so i dont have much to compare to. But all over im happy with it.
The one thing that does anoy me is the quality of the camera. I really thought the 2mp camera would be better. If you sneeze while taking a picture its all one big blur. People have to stand 100% still. Thank fook i didnt get it for the camera, hehehe
Waiting 3 seconds to adjust the screen after opening qwerty keyboard is ok. Have you ever had any other smartphone? On the Vox (S710) it take much longer (it's depending on what programs are running but basically it's slower).
I have used Vox for some time and the processor was really slow... rendering pages in IE, painting system graphics on lanscape was slow... I really think the 400 MHz makes Wings way faster.
BTW: Here's my little comparison benchmark.

i did the benchmark on mine:

why is my htc slower than urs?
I killed all running programs and processes before banchmarking. (And maybe switched to airplane mode but Im not sure)
okay, this is it then.
thx
btw i added u on msn, accept.

i was searching a tool for set the speed control of msm7200 cpus for underclock my kaiser but really i can find anything that sound me "compatible" for my kaiser, any one can suggest me one? regards!
>>> nueClockControl <<<
>>> nueDynamicClock <<<

Click to collapse
And neither of which work on a Kaiser.
Overclocking on a mobile device is dumb anyway. And who would want to underclock a Kaiser.
i want undeclock my kaiser, i try both nue dynamic works but dont show the speed and i am not sure if is secure, recently the program add support for this cpu, and nue clock... dont even open! regards!!!
PD: any comercial apps there that suppor this device?
in my Kayser ( WM 6.1 - T.I.R.v12K ) they works perfectly.
For nueDynamicClock, probably, you must manually start the service :
"nueDynamicClock(NDC0)"

If nueDynamicClock don't open, you can try to link directly the .cpl :
32#"\Windows\nueCPL-ClockSpeed.cpl"
Regards.
ok i thinks i gonna be glad if i can make work NueControl (not dynamic) to get work, so i install the cab, go to the start menu open the program and nothing happend, i should start some other thing? regards!
Oh, cool! Last I viewed either of those two projects it was not supported on the Kaiser! The way he has it set up makes good sense, and I've just started testing it but you can't tell it's underclocked if you set the Default speed to be normal, then drop it down on idle, backlight, suspend. Only problem is, he has it defaulted to 192mhz in the profiles, so you have to edit the profile or everything is dog slow, but the other settings you won't notice the difference because you're not actually using the phone when it's happening.
Stability will be the question, I saw several posts about phone calls causing problems, etc, so we'll see. Also concerned about TrackMe and some things like that which I run in the background sometimes, so we'll just have to see!
@wolframio74:
... sorry, i don't remember the necessity of some workaround for nueClockControl,
I have just installed it, and all was OK .

Hello world
I really enjoyed the idea of putting accelerometr (and another such great stuff) into the smartphone.
Just add software and it becomes live! So, I decided to write my own apllication, which will make use of it.
"Gapple" is a small time-killer game.
The objective is very simple - score hitting positive bubbles and play as long as you can!
I'm going to develop more features (If I won't get bored with it )
I hope you will enjoy this!
Waiting for your feedback! It should work on diamond to!
gapple.comlu.com
Pozdrawiam!
Requirements:
.NET CF 3.5
WM 6.x
Change log
Update 19-09-2009
+ new bubbles added!
+ changed rules: limited number of pointers ("lives") + bombs
+ device sleep disabled
+ improved graphics
Note
Before installing the new version, please remove the old one (Start->Settings->System->Remove Programs) and delete file: gapple.ini from the root directory. It is highly recommended to make soft reset too.
Update 10-09-2009
+ Backlight always on
+ Improved stability
Hey thats not bad, quite addictive!
It is fun I was playing for a while (got a lot of time bonuses) and then it locked up on me. I've attached the screens so you can see the log. Also, the game does not prevent screen dimming - it should override the standard WM direction and prevent the device from going dark.
Hope that helps - I like where it's heading!
Thanks for testing!
@bugsykoosh - nice bug
I'll investigate it.
it's difficult to find the right sensitivity (I'm using 14), but an interesting game
consider disabling backlight time out if possible, as i have to tap on the screen every minute
by the way, my highest score is 308 (272 pts and 180 seconds)
Recently I noticed that all CPU cores will suddenly boost to the highest frequency for a few moments every time while opening/ closing/ switching apps in the RR-OS (as well as in Lineage OS), and then it will gradually go back to lower frequency.

(This is the moment when I lauch the Settings app and press the Muiti-tasking button. All CPU cores boost to the highest freq regardless which CPU Governor I set.)
This issue consumes a lot of battery (up to 1130mA). However, this will never happen in the stock MIUI ROM. I have tried using different CPU Governors but this still happens.
So, is there any method to disable this CPU boosting feature to conserve the battery life?
Thanks!
(Logcat attached here when I press the Muiti-task button)

Even though if what you say is true the mix still has a very good battery life and what I would want to be able to tweak is, as you say to have a better CPU management when it comes to light or heavy work loads, the use of a single CPU on light tasks and full throttle on heavy tasks, I would also like to be able to over clock my CPU's to 2.5ghz if possible.
As far as i know, both OP and Over clocking is about the kernel. In my opinion thats why cpu boosting that the OP mentioned is making the RR so smooth, which is very familiar to me from Exynos kernels on Samsung. One of the greatest kernel developers @UpInTheAir who built a lot of great, overclocked, optimizable kernels which let you play with governor tunables and select which frequencies the cpu can be boosted and so on. So if there are proper kernel sources and @pappschlumpf would dive into the kernel job; there would be a good kernel. Hopefully in the future..

Hi,
does anyone tried to optimize the gpu of the SD888 Soc via KonaBess?
i found a post with a list of changes a user made. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-root-and-konabess-app.4275089/#post-85555809
So i used the same settings to maybe save some battery.
I'm not a phone-gamer at all, but i tried to OC the gpu a bit. Not because i need it, but i wanted to see what's possible.
850mhz is working fine. If I set 860mhz even with higher voltage level (LEVEL_TURBO_L2) the phone won't boot. So i stay with 850mhz.

If youre interested, i exported my settings (150mhz added, UV, OC to 850mhz), which can imported in the konabess app.
Via app you can import/export settings and save your vendor.img. If the boot fails, flash your backuped vendor.img via twrp and the phone will boot again.
Maybe we can gain some more perfomance or better batterylife via undervolting.

I have lowered the voltage on my 11T Pro using KonaBess.
If the voltage on the high frequency side was reduced too much, the drawing of the 3D bench collapsed or could not be started.
Also, if I reduced the voltage too much on the low frequency side
The home screen would freeze or collapse after startup.
Therefore, it seems that the GPU voltage is actually being changed.
In the default state and after lowering the voltage
Wild Life Extreme Stress Test, respectively.
the score for the lower voltage was
all exceeded the default score, suggesting that the lower voltage
throttling is suppressed.
We have been using the system for several weeks in the low voltage state.
The operation is extremely stable.
Of course, there are individual differences in margins, whether for OC or lower voltages.
@cyphone
Sounds great. Nice that you tested more then me. Did you noticed some improvement in batterylife or does the phone feels cooler?
Why did you used the app at all? Just out of interest or did you aimed for something special?
Can you share your stable settings and/or list your changes, to let me and others try the same settings?
EDIT: Okay, seems like he won't respond. Sad.
