Hi,
Anyone know what the 'resource' source is when selecting where it finds wallpapers to switch?
Also why does a wallpaper I have deleted still show up? (I suspect this is related to my first question!)
Thanks
Phil
It should lie in /system/customize/resource/
It may lie in another folder as well, but that's at least where I found them. How did you delete a wallpaper? (And what kind of wallpaper was that? A custom you had stored on the sd-card or one of the stock ones?)
I meant deleted one of my own from the SD card.
Can see few images used by the default Hero screens, wonder why is there an MP3 in the resource folder? TTMN_MP3_30_SEC.mp3
Don't recall anything using that yet!
Curious
I believe it's the startup tune..
It's strange that a wallpaper you have used is still listed...

Hello everybody,
this is my first post in this forum and my english is very bad, because i am an bavarian noob I take my german text to the google-translator an this is the result:
I have tried to change my startup screens what has failed miserably. I have the original files with the trail version of Ulead Gif Animator processed and pushed to the Hero. The results you can see here. I have the orig. and modifed attached files. Can anyone of you tell what went wrong?
Thx,
the bavarian opallabtb
I noticed whilst browsing the Hero file system (in root somewhere) that there are a number of config files for boot and on my Orange Hero, an Orange startup animation.
No idea how you do it (rooted & text editor maybe), but you will probably have to edit these
thank you joemax for your quick answer.
There is only one xml file in the folder /system/media. It calls boot_animation.xml
I didnt touch this file. The names of the modifed files are the same as the original ones. Is it possible that the Ulead gif animator change anything in the gif file (transparent background, etc)?
greets
Sorry, I have no idea then. My depth of knowledge at this point is very poor
Can the Hero actually play the gig animation you copied across ?
I use ASTRO to browse my Hero, it plays and views images, video and gif files. Try to see if its actually playable 1st.
Sorry but thats all I can think could be causing it.
I bet you crapped yourself when you first saw that messed up boot screen
I've had a look at the gif files you're using and they differ from the originals. The ones you made, each frame has different background properties. If you look at each frame in the original, they're all 320*480 with a background colour index of 199; they all have a black (transparent) background of 320*480.
But the modified gifs have frames which don't have the same sized and colour index backgrounds, and this is the only thing I can see that would cause the problem. When you view them in windows picture viewer, they show up fine; I think it's something to do with the transparency and the fact that the first frame IS the right size and colour but the rest are not.
In fact now that I look at your video again I'm certain this is the case. I know how to fix this, what program did you use to modify the frames?
Edit: Okay maybe I should read posts better, you used Ulead Gif Animator. If you can send me the individual images of each frame I could put this together for you in a way I'm sure will work
Hi,
thank you for your support!

Can you take the Frames/Pics or whatever you want from the "modifed.zip" package?
Thank you!
I'm confused on this one. Today I went to change my ringtone for my text messages and to my surprise I have 2 ringtones for each type. They both work and are both the exact same as the other with its name. Recently I flashed a new bootscreen and the only thing I could think of is this contained media files which flashed as well. But then I am confused why they didn't simply overwrite. I went into my file explorer and navigated to system/media to see if potentially I had two ringtone folders in there, or maybe even just duplicates of each one, but no dice. Its not a huge issue, as I'm sure even if they are doubled up in my memory it can't take up that much space, however knowing they are there is bothering me and I dont wanna start over just because of this lol
I am debating trying to delete the system/media/ringtones folder through adb and seeing what happens. Is there another place a second copy of these bad boys might be hiding out? Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks
EDIT: I just double checked my bootscreen which I flashed and it doesn't contain any of those files. (Didn't think it would, but I'm outta ideas)
EDIT2: Ah HA! Thought I would post that I have found a solution for anyone else who might be interested.. I simply pulled all the notifications/ringtones.. deleted them off the phone.. rebooted.. repushed.. bingo.
Like the title says. I put them in a couple places already. But still can't get them to work. Last i tryed I put them in, ADWLauncher>res>mdpi
Thanks
would also be interested in this... i like the wallpaper gallery for choosing the ... choices.
I suppose if i knew what folder contained them I could just move them?
well to get ringtones on the phone you put them in media/audio/ringtones. So the wallpaper gallery might go into /media/pictures/wallpaper(s) or /media/wallpaper(s). That would be my guess
that would be great, if those folders existed, but they dont.
I know there must be some place the WPs that came with this ROM are stored, not on the SD card... the wallpaper gallery is accessing something... somewhere...
but i'll be ****ed if I can find it.
probably total obvious n00b mistake, i'm sure, but I am stumped.
I had to make the media folder for the ringtones. Search how to put custom ringtones on android. My guess is the wallpaper gallery would be done in the same fashion
Sorry to tell you guys you are wrong. I know for a fact it has to be in the Launcher.apk (or what ever launcher you are useing.
If you put it in there and rename the image to one of the other images in there it will work. kinda a work around.
I just recently got myself a G1 and really happy with it.
I rooted and installed Cyanogen 6 RC3 which appears to be working good - had it running for a few days now.
Personally i dont like the default ringtones and would like to use my own MP3 ringtones.
Secondly, i would like to change the font, have seen screenshots from other users who have done this.
Question is how do you add ringtones and change the fonts?
Thanks for the help.
I would suggest that you update to Cyanogen 6 stable.
For ring tones the easiest way is to just and them on your sd card.
Make a folder called media\audio\ringtones, media\audio\alarms, media\audio\notifications.
Just put your ring tones etc. in the appropriate folders.
As for the font I don't know.
Thanks for your help on the ringtones.
Dont suppose you know easiest method to put music onto the sd card as well?
add a folder called music or what ever....
Can't remember if a reboot will re-scan or if it is in the music app to rescan.
I think a reboot will scan and find it automagically.

I know how to make regular icons transparent b/c I've already done that, but I can't seem to get the Folder one to work. I tried w/ Desktop Visualizer, but I haven't been able to use it to make a folder to put mulitple stuff in unless I'm just missing it. Can somebody help please?
Check out the app Folder Organizer. You can use custom icons for them along with a whole slew of other things. Great app. Check out my post alittle further down entitled Justice League icons to see how I used it.
Thanks man. I have that app on my SD card actually, but never got around to installing it, lol. I'll check it out now.
Is their any way to change the font on the folders? I mean to make the background of the font clear?
