Well, i got Netcounter for traffic and it's great ..
I got 1GB of Traffic, 150 free sms and 50 free minutes a month. Is there a application that can held track of all of them?

The T-Mobile app doesn't work for you? If you haven't heard of it, it's called "My Account".

Here in germany you can buy the g1 offocially without a tmobile contract

Well afaik there is no port of it for android... seems to be wimo only... allready searched market for sms, mimutes, counter etc

I'm getting my G1 this week (I hope), I can try to implement that next week.
I did an app to count outgoing minutes + outgoing SMS in windows mobile, but it's not finished and I'm switching to Android.
I will try to do something and will keep you guys updated.

Make sure that the sms counter doesn't just count incoming and outgoing but rather characters per message since T-mobile allows 164. I had some one run into problem where it was one message with more than 164 characters that caused overages. Good luck.

hey sorry if this has been asked before but i have searched here n havent gotten a clear answer. is there any app that reads out loud sms or email? im not trying to get another ticket (got my 6th today) because i text while driving so is there an app that reads outloud your sms?
EDIT: i have seen drive safe but thats $13 a year. anything else thats a little cheaper?

I am also very interested in this. I did a bit of research, and came across the DriveSafe.ly app. I downloaded it, and have played with it a little bit. It actually works pretty well! You have the ability to turn it on and off, and it has some really cool options like syncing with your bluetooth. Not bad for a free download from the android market.
u could just try the voice command..which gives option to read a sms or email wen it s received...
You can just look in the Market. There is "SayMyName", for example.

yea but if u want it to read a longer message, u have to pay $13 annually. i tried the app and yea its good but thats a little too much. if anything thats my last resort
Im having problems with Google Talk on my phone.
Normally, if u start a chat. and the other person is talking back, u should see the txt under your own txt. But i only see it as a balloon in my top-tray of the phone and do not see the txt written by the other person in the chat overview.
Anyone knows how to solve this?

My gf and I also have Galaxy S phones. Her device is running on I9000XXJFB firmware, mine is on I9000XWJM2. Shes having kinda like the same problem with GTalk: the screen is splitted to 2 sides (top&bottom), instead of how mine works (the good old conversation-look, when A-B-A-B persons messages follow each other).
Maybe its firmware-dependent? I did not find any option to change the layout in the settings menu.
Firmware is probably a good bet. If you want to hold off, have you tested to see what happens if you turn the setting balloon top-tray setting off? Would you see nothing at all? Or would it populate the message how it should.
You probably want the best of both worlds, it's worth a quick test if you have any reason to delay upgrading firmware.
disabling the notification button in the toptray would be a bummer anyway because then i wouldnt be notified if somebody is messaging me.
i downloaded a beta version of Hi GTalk from the market. which is working as it should work so i guess my problem isnt solved with Talk it self, but with installing an alternative app.
i think you'd still receive the sound notification. As long as you are going an alternative app route, i'd. consider uninstalling and reinstalling GTalk, it might just be corrupted.

[edit] hehe i cant uninstall it. its "in the factoryrom" so i see. i dont see it at the installed programs list..?

Change time zone to the right location unbelievable, but it works !!! layout is dependent on internal time zone.

On my Captivate when I recieve a message it's never in order.
For example, I send a test text to a friend at 7:41. When he sends it back one minute later the text ends up behind mine (not in order) and the time recieved says 2:41am.
Is there something wrong that I'm missing? How can I fix this?

Yeah, that did not work at all. Messed things up even more.
Any other ideas?
Use Handcent, it's free, totally customizable and works.

don't use auto time/date update
if you use the stock messaging app, try using handcent or chomp and see if it still does it.

Already did that, I have the APK and it installed fine. My problem is that my access code is never sent to me, hence I can't verify my account.

It might take up to a week, but you should eventually receive the email and use it freely.

I registered even before december last year and didnt get a beta invite yet... so probably its still too early to get really excited, as there are thousands of people that registered later... especially over the last time.
Makes only sense of course if they send out the codes in the order as people registered.
EDIT:
I have to correct myself. i never got an invite email from viber, but using the email i used back then to subscribe i could register here http://www.viber.com/android-beta/ without any problems. i just had to try some email addresses as i didnt know anymore which one i used back then. I didnt recive a sms but the activation call worked without any problems.
So yeah, even if you didnt get an invitation mail it might work. And YES, i checked my spamfolder before!

Why do I see the Viber logo in the notification. Isn't there any possibility to turn it off?
I thought you receive your calls and messages through push notification?

I think thats kinda annoying too. if every running service would show an icon, there would be no space left...
As the service is always running in the background anyway, there is simply no need to show the symbol all the time.

Well i think we need that icon to see if the Viber Server in ONLINE or OFFLINE i like it !
I found a problem VIBER , when someone calls me when i try to Accept the call i have to touch the Accept button and wait a little then swipe it to right side, if i swipe immediately the call is Rejected and doesnt inform the other side (the caller) that i Rejected his call.

Thats kinda redundant, as you should safely assume that you are connected to viber as long as you have an online connection... if its usual that you cant connect to viber while having an online connection, it basically means the service isn't very reliable.
Just applied for both me and the missus. Hope we get in.

For me, the WhatsApp solution is way better. Even if I quit the app with ATK, I get my mails pushed. I don't even see Viber in ATK.
That's quite unacceptable for me.
Zhe rest of the app is fine for me.

if you quit the WhatsApp client, the WhatsApp service is still running... i dont get your point. Whats the problem with services running in the background anyway? As long as they are not eating up your battery which shouldn't be the case if they are properly programmed.
i mean as long as they dont eat up space in the notification bar

Homez, I know that Viber is not really draining my battery, I just don't want to see the logo in the notification bar. The application can run in the background, it can even run besides me if it wants. I just want my notification bar clean ;-)

And i got an invitation mail to the beta today... a little bit late regarding i am using the beta already since last week. And it works really good for me... besides not deactivating the screen while calling (proximity sensor) but im sure they will fix this soon.
