Tracing a mobile number! - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Im in need of some assistance here, i have a nuisance caller txtin me all the time with silly things to say. Im a Team Leader in a Security Company and its my job to keep people on and let people go. Theres been lots of different people who have left due to my decision for management. Now im getting nuisance txt messages from a number which i would like to trace.
Ive looked at different types of websites, followus, trackme and all these need confirmation before the tracking process can begin. Is there anything out there that can help me in my quest for justice? Is it possible for someone to create a little app for the kaiser to get me some details regarding this fool who has not stopped stressing me out? Im a single dad with 2 kids to look after and im not getting any sleep due to this.
Any help would be grateful!
Before you ask
- I cant just turn my phone on silent as i am on call 24/7 also my mum is critically ill in hospital and i cant afford to miss calls.
- I dont want to block the number as i would like to know who this person is.
- Ive called my service provider and they have a 'all or nothing' policy
- I dont want to change my number because that means this person wins and i lose my number which i have had for 10years

Not sure if this is of any help.

Im gonna give this a shot, but im really looking for something that will give the senders location away. Also im not really getting much calls, most of them are txted messages.
But thank you anyway for your suggestion

Dont know if this will help but get a blacklist program for winmo and add his name to it. I can remember the names of some but there are a lot that work well, you add the phone number, and nothing more from this person.

Private Numbers Calling Me

Is there a way to find out whose calling my phone on private? Is it true that on your monthly statement private numbers are not shown but instead show the actually number?
regarding monthly bills, I don't know if you get charged for recieving calls (we don't over here), but it will be VERY unliekly the number will pop up on the bill... Something against privacy, I guess.
It would also be unlikely that you can get the private number to show on your phone, because these the number is broadcasted from the phoner's side, and if they don't broadcat it, then you won't get it!
Hope that clears things up

To my knowledge the following is true - even if you BLOCK your caller ID it is still broadcast - however - there must be two levels at the receiving end - here are my thoughts as to why this must be true -
In the states if you call 911 (even with your callerid blocked) they still have your phone number - TRUST ME - callerID displays at the emergency end even with it blocked. SO -
CALLERID blocking does not really BLOCK the sending of this number - it merely puts a code on it (or something like that) so that the receiving phone says - AHHHH - PRIVATE.
Now - as has already been said - it is obvious that if you do not want your phone number known and PAY to have it blocked - why on earth would you let someone on the other end see it?
Bill
You're correct that there is just a flag set to not display the number (as opposed to it not being sent at all, and yes, that is why 911 operators still see the number). But the phone company here in the USA would need a court order to NOT observe those flags, so they are not going to violate the law and give you the number just because you want it.
There is also equipment to capture and see the number despite the block flag, but I know they are illegal to use by private citizens or corporations, and it may even be illegal to buy them.
can someone explain to me how it is possible to have fake numbers show up? shouldn’t that be illegal too? i had partial numbers, or things that are just not possible... i heard this is spam/ads and or done somehow with the internet...

It is getting less and less true - but there are carriers in some areas of the country that have not implemented callerid yet - frequently SPAMMERS and other less reputable people specifically use these carriers so that they can get an unblocked number that does not pass on their number - if you get my meaning.
Sometimes 800 numbers (toll free) will not pass on their number correctly but not block it - since people can now pay to BLOCK callers with specifically BLOCKED phone numbers having a number that is not blocked but does not pass on their number can be worth its weight in gold. (At least they THINK so. What ever possesses someone to think that someone who BLOCKS blocked numbers would appreciate THEM getting through and actually purchase what they are selling is beyond me.
Bill
I was only going by what someone told me. They told me that if someone calls you private take a note of time and date and look on your statement. The number will display on your bill. I'm asking because I have these girls calling my number from a private number. They always call me saying that I'm ****ing hot, sexy, blah blah blah. They know my name too. Just wanted to see who it was. Curiosity always killed the cat.
There are certain sites that will let you do this (for a monthly fee of course). It will let you call and it'll appear whatever the caller wants it to appear.

Hey drutort, are you a 60 year old bald, fat, perv from Seattle or a hot 16yr old farmgirl with big ------- from Nebraska or a 30 something tech geek who is into gadgets from Arizona ? No one here knows. You can be whomever you want these days and we will never find out. ( at least without a court order)
I remind my teenagers of this constantly, everytime they " step " into a chat room.
I think this video somes up my feelings on this issue... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uu1RP34FLXU

no sorry i dont i still have my p800 i can look see if its still on there but i doubt it
lol I had something similar on my PC... wish I still had this program.
Bluetooth
The only way I've ever known how to send message from someone else is through bluetooth hacking as far as over the net that would be awsome and if you figure it out let me know lol I could def freak some people out!
BT Spammer does this, but again its via bluetooth only(so u have to be nearby the potential victim)
With smartSMS I believe you can mask your number. In addition, there definitely used to be an application where you could enter any random number and send a sms thru data but I cannot for the life of me remember either. Finally, provider websites used to provide sms over the internet where you could enter any random "sender" number as long as the receiver's cell number was listed with that service provider.
edit: nvm smartsms doesn't do it but I know there used to be an app as well.
Am I the only one who finds this absolutely scary/horrible? I'm sure you're wanting this just to mess around with someone, but think of how mean this could be. You could send a message to a guy you hate from his wife's ex-boyfriend telling him how much he enjoyed her company the other night... you could send a message to your coworker from his boss telling him he's been fired and to clear out his desk...
I could see people's lives being ruined if they react to such a message in the heat of the moment.

Unknown Caller App

I have an unknown number calling me and I want to know who it is, I answer they hang up. The only way that I know of that will unhide the number is through trap call. I don't know how many of you are familiar with trap call but pretty much you get an unknown number calling you, reject it, then it comes back to you with their real number. I have it on my spare phone and it works but I don't want to out it on my main line, because it messes up your voice mail. I can foward calls to my spare phone from my main phone but I don't want to be doing that 24/7
So does anyone know if there is any sort of app that I can install to my xperia that will unhide unknown numbers? I figured since many of the people in these forums are a lot more knowledgeable than maybe someone knew of such an app. It would be pretty handy Thanks
I'm looking for exactly the same kind of util. We don't have trap call available here. If someone can explain how the caller ID process work, does the number even get transmitted to your phone? but not showing due to some setting in the data of the acctual call?
The other side of the coin then, can you witheld your ID on a SMS?

???my phone is calling my phone???

Ok guys.....I can't be the only one this has happened to. For the last week I have been getting somewhat random calls and caller id shows its my number. There are times when I happens right around a phone call but the phone has had root for 6 months...multiple roms flashed and never an issue till now. Running crc1 with cyan 4.0.4 build...themed with community hero. This is the second post about this....does someone know what's happening or how to fix it...thanks
its called someone is spoofing you with a spoof app of some sort heres a website about what its about.
basically youre being pranked
Here's the website
I appeciate the insight but I have that app and as far as I am aware you can't call a number with the same number.....it won't allow it. So I'm pretty sure that's not it.
Umm i dont think you understand completely.
Ok ....now I know its the phone ....noticed a pattern...it seems to do it right after someone calls but only rings a couple of times. And I'm not sure what it is I don't understand.

Say Dave doesn't like Jay and wants to prank call him.
He uses SpoofApp or the equivilant service to call him.
To use this service all you need to do is enter the number you would like to call and the number that you would like to show up on the recievers callerID.
Jay recieves a call from the number that Dave put in.
It could be just about any number and the only way that I know of for sure to tell who it is that's calling you is TrapCall.
Hope that clears it up.
Ya I hear you on that and I have used it......I'm not stupid. This is a phone issue. The calls are comming after a voicemail is left. What could the problem be. I'm not trying to be a jerk but the obivious solution is not allways the right one. Could someone give me an idea.
I agree with you oneyoungjay I have that app to and you can't put the number to call and the number to display at the same time. It will not allow it. I use the app pretty often.
My iPhone used to do this to me on t-mobile a few months ago, just like voicemails sticking, i solved it by leaving myself a voicemail. (and its actually a carrier issue, i believe)
try changing voicemail client to phonefusion for example. If its a carrier issue that should bypass it if not sorry...
Thanks .....ill try that a let you know if it worked.

[Q] Need Ideas for Google Voice Greeting for Resilient Telemarketers

So, I have a really annoying telemarketing company who is calling me on a semi-regular basis. I've already asked them to stop calling me, twice. I'm not really the kind of person to be stirring the pot and reporting them (too much work)...instead I would rather screw with them.
Since Google Voice allows me to have custom greetings for certain phone numbers, I would like seriously mess with whoever is calling me.
Does anyone have any ideas for what my greeting should say/be for my pests?
Inform them that they have lost the game, and proceed with a rick roll
Tell them that they've inherited £12,000,000 and you're a Nigerian prince that only needs their name, address and bank account details to send it to them.
Sent from my GT-I9100
Play a recording of a previous conversation with them?
I ran across this one which sounds good.
"Another good one is to start your answering machine message with the phone company phone number error/disconnected tones and then continue the message. It tricks the computer doing those auto-dial/automated message calls to delete your number from the list and stop calling you."
"Hello, you have reached the Transgender hotline. We're sorry we're not able to take your call at this time, but one of our agents will call you back on this number as soon as they are available. We see that you are a regular customer so you will be given priority over other callers. In the meantime you are welcome to browse our gallery of escorts at www.transgenderplaythings.com where we guarantee you will find a 'friend' who can meet all your needs!
Thank you for calling, goodbye."
Let them explain that to their boss when it comes up in a routine review of their recorded calls.
As I have no sense of humour tonight I'm going to suggest that next time they call, demand a supervisor/manager and then tell them, very politely that they are ++++'s and you have no interest in their piss poor service. If they don't stop calling you despite your numerous requests then you will be left with no option but to take matters further.
Did I ruin the mood?
Good.
Carry on.....

You guys are genius!
Seriously, there are some good ideas in here. Keep them coming! Maybe I will put each of the messages on rotation and switch them out every once in awhile.
I am curious about the trick with playing the message of "this number has been disconnected...etc," I will use that one after I have tried out some of the others in case that one actually does the trick!
"Hello, 911 emergency, which service do you need?"
"errr, sorry i think i have the wrong number.."
"Sir, are you aware that it is a federal offence to misuse the emergency service line? Do you have an emergency to declare...?"
"..****, so sorry...i think i misdialled...bye.."
