I've checked out couple of software (PocketClock Pro, Worldmate etc) and i find it strange that many of the world clocks do not have AM and PM information visible. Is this some sort of a bug that iam expereincing or common for others as well? Please help...
AM and PM (or the 12 hour click) were once popular in Northern Europe, but now they are used only in the former british colonies - USA, Canada, etc.
That's from memory lol, but gives you the general idea. You might hear it in other parts of the world, but officialy it is not used anywhere else.
Well i always thought it didn't make any sense not to provide AM and PM option since most of the world uses the 12hr format for time. Anyways it took me an hour fiddling with different WM6.1 settings to find out where this option was lurking. For some odd and illogical reason (to my mind atleast) the time format is available in "Regional settings" instead of time and clock settings in WM6.1. This regional setting is also used by other time related software hence i wasn't getting the AM and PM available for world time in PocketClock and Worldmate.... which obviously is necessary if one is using the 12hr format.

USA fortunately still is not "most of the world" even if most Americans think so.
The 12/24h settings were in Regional Settings from the start. This is nothing new. And (3rd party) software should respect the regional settings as much as possible. FYI: date format and currency symbol are also regional settings and not mm/dd/yy and $ per default .....
And beleive it or not: most of the world uses SI, so speed is measured in km/h and not miles/h and volume is measured in litres and not fl.oz or gallons.
Most of the world? HAHAHHAHAHAHA! Didn't you read what I wrote? MOST OF THE WORLD USES 24HR...
It is in regional, because those preferences apple only to certain regionns and other parts of the world don't use them....
Most of the world uses the 12hr clock for daily life and 24hr clocks are only used for official and formal puposes to avoid any confusion.... Have you ever seen a watch with a 24 hour dial in US and Euorpe?!?!?

Yes, I own one. A normal Swatch.
I agree that almost all "analog" watches have an 12 hr dial and the "spoken" time is mostly in 12 hr format, but there is a substantial part of the world that uses the 24 hr digital time format for normal everyday use (and not only for military or official use).

I'm pretty sure you are trolling after this post, but I'll bite.
You are mixing up two very distinct things.
1 - The habit of people to pronounce this "15.30" as this "three thirty".
2 - Using AM and PM to distinguish between night and day time.
Those are two separate things. Yes, most people in Europe have 24hr clocks. Probably 99%, the other 1% are children, yes, only children use 12 clocks here.
In spoken language there is no need of a separation between night and day, because everyone knows what part of the day it is - NO ONE USES AM AND PM WHILE SPEAKING except USA, Canada.
24hr are used in written language EVERYWHERE. No one uses AM and PM in writing anywhere except USA, Canada, etc. NO ONE USES AM AND PM WHILE WRITING.
I'll repeat it again. MOST OF THE WORLD USES 24hr clocks and MOST OF THE WORLD USES 24hr time all the time in their normal live, not for official purposes only.
Next time ,when you don't know something, do your research or ask before you make ignorant comments.
where I live we never used am or pm (can't even recall if am is after midnight or after midday not easy to remember because pm could be past midnight / midday)
sure old analogue clocks are 12h but here they don't include pm/am
and all digital clocks use 24h format (even very unofficial and informal ones )
and nobody here ever ref'd to 24hour time as military time
but do believe that UK still use am or pm at times but don't think it ever hit mainland Europe
not sure about asia and africa

I'm just kinda confused on the usability of this thing.
Ok the 5day outlook thing seems ok (if it was ever accurate), but why do you need to know what the weather is like at the present time? You can just look out of the window.
Also the last week it's been saying partly sunny nearly every day & it's been cloudy/overcast all the time.
It would be great if it showed what the weather would be like in say 5 hours or later in the day etc...
Is there any way to mod the weather feature to make it a worthwhile feature?
At the moment it just seems like something they stuck on as an extra to show the TF3D off.

this a smart question for collectors! thank you for bringing this matter to our attention
have you thought (before you started a new thread) that maybe some ppl are traveling and want to know how the weather is going to be at their destination 2 or 4 hours from now, 200 or 3000 km away from their windows?
it is just a gimmick. And not only that, a rubbish one to be honest: Yesterday here at Heathrow it was cloudy yet it said on my phone sunny!
If you want a proper weather app can I suggest SPB Weather, sadly though it will not plug-in to TF3D.
edit: just checked it today as well, same! "Sunny" according to my phone but its not, its very grey outside!

lol! never let me down. here it is always sunny and when i travel it was precise enough to help me pick the right clothing. maybe the meteorological service/site used by SPB is more accurate than the one used by HTC. maybe.
also the weather tab can be disabled. i hate to think at the complains if the diamond has not add this tab.
it seems pretty accurate to me, maybe you don't have any weather monitoring devices locally and it's using one further away
Possible but VERY unlikely, I live in London.
SPB Weather is far more accurate - runs with data from some Russian site.
ABSOLUTELY!
There's a reason; ALL these international weather feeds come from russian and chinese servers, running unregistered unified-model software, and running at resolutions of around 50km with no local topography accounted for. Local met offices run at 4km with detailed knowledge of the topographical issues (mountain, lake, sea, etc). They then claim a degree of cred by pirating the weather station HISTORICAL feeds to show accurate current temps on a specific station, leading you to believe the forecasting is credible too.
I am always facinated by the effort ppl go to on their weather apps (skins, icons, 1m res geo position) for something that if not even accurate at 50km!! It's SO daft.
In short, rather use software that allows you to specify your own URL's to image maps then get them from your local met office web site. This works for radar images (Storm tracking), forecasts, traffic cams, etc etc. Hell, or just set up IE bookmarks...
now you've nicely cleared that up, thanks!, I wonder if there is a reg entry or similar that we can change to point to a local feed?
p.s. anyone know where we can get a list of local feeds? For example, London ... maybe BBC.co.uk? Can't find it though and I doubt its RSS as this would have loads of "text" thats not required.

Thankyou for this enlightenment, but I thought of this already, that's why I said it should maybe tell you the weather in 5 hours or later in the day.
Unless you travel by instatrain or instaplane etc.. I still can't see the use of it telling the weather at present time.
Being a helicopter pilot, I use Metar's TAFs and briefing charts from the met office website to make decisions on whether it is safe to fly or not.
I totally agree with nin0. If I want to know the instantaneous weather conditions I get up and look out the window not pay for a data connection on my phone and get a semi accurate result. (That's just lazy)
If KukurikU can go 200km (let alone 3000km) without the weather changing then I'd love to know how???? In my experience the weather can change extremely quickly forcing you to land in a field until it's safe.
I'm going to try the mort script available here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=289197&page=86 (post #858) No swanky graphics but should give all the information you could possibly need.
for me it's useless and so disabled to

about quick changes of the weather...nobody can predict...complain to god the sudden changes of weather are not so common.
the main screen is not the weather "now". the main screen is for weather "today" and of course is not a promisse.
so, if i intend to make a trip of 200 km from town A to town B it might be useful to know that even if in my town (A) now is sunny, in my destination town is raining. that's even more useful if i am living for a trip abroad today at 7am (let's say to pay u a visit) and i want to know how is the weather in yr hometown 3000 km from my country/hometown. in both cases the "weather from the window" method is not helping me but the whether tab (even if not so exact) can help .

If you'd have believed it where I live, you would have got here and been very underwhelmed, unimpressed, wearing sunglases and t-shirt (and looking an idiot) and on the cold side yesterday.
Not much better today - although the sun is starting to poke through the clouds.... shame the days are getting shorter.
Think I'll stick to weather.com or bbc.co.uk for my long distance and future forecasts.
edit: just checked again - weather app has downgraded london from Sunny to Sunny with clouds .... shame the clouds are lifting hahaha...

it tells you the weather for 5-8 hours in the day. it is a forecast for today (all day). who told you is instant????
maybe they are updating it a few times a day but certainly it is not for "right now". so "instaplane" or not, before i start packing for a 3000 km flight i look in the weather tab at the country/town of destination and know if i have to take the raincoat or not.
weather is only a forecast...not precise.

i might be wrong...it happened that the forecast (not for my country) changed during the day. btw, because of the "raining" animation i keep London on the weather tab all the time hahaha. when i feel hot i look at it to cool down a little...when u feel too cold you can also try to warm up by looking at yr weather tab for israel/ashdod or rishon leziyyon (i am in between) now is 8.30 pm and still 27 celsius
i see no fight here. i am enjoying very much our "conversation".
i was amused by the "why not look at the window". once again, ppl have to understand that this is only a forecast and if you travel and if you want to know the weather at yr destination you can not go out and see it for yourself (unless yr destination is yr neighbor's backyard).
as i said, here, in my country 90% of the time i got the same "sunny" and temperature from 25-40 celsius but i am using the weather tab when i travel to Europa and i found it to be very useful.
Hi all
I've been a member of XDA for a while (have a hero and been on the villanrom builds since they began). But I am a developer full time and so I have decided to start in Windows Phone 7. I know silverlight, I know .NET so why not.
I have started the company 'Infinite Monkey Theorem' and this is a showing of the first application.
auto-mate. This app allows you to record your cars stats at each fuel up and service to allow you to view statistics about your cars. This app will also allow you to setup service types (months or miles) and the app will schedule them for you taking into account your mileage per year. MOT and Tax renewals are stored and show when they are close.
The reason for this app is this: I drive 24,000 miles / year which means that I need to maintain the car more than just a yearly service, this app will tell me when I need to change my oil or have a minor/major service based upon the miles I drive per year and the miles I'm doing recently allowing me to budget for it accordingly.
This app syncs to the cloud so you can look over all the cars you are monitoring from your office and export the information or book a service.
This app is in beta at the moment, it is not feature complete as I need you to be able to say you have done your MOT or Tax but its almost there. Of course with it syncing to the cloud there is a cost, that I MUST pass on somehow. I looked into Ads but Microsoft in thier wisdom only allow thier ad framework in america so Im out (UK). But I'm thinking of a free version that has ads (in future) and does not sync to cloud. Thoughts on what you would/might pay for this app would be greatly appreciated.
The future of the app?
Well I am planning a pro version which is for business mileage and will export from the web site allowing business travellers to fill out expense forms. But there are lots to add to this app as well.
Take a look at the vid and let me know what you think.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tyw_ivcygk
Njoy.
id add light comercial vans upto 3.5tonnes as many courier use wm devices so many will upgrade to wp7
Love it and it looks superb. I dont know what you can and cannot do in regards to apps interacting with other features of the phone. But the option to put a reminder in the calendar or a pop up one month before the tax is due or service is due etc I think would be really beneficial (liked I said not sure if MS will let you do that though)
The only other thing I can think of is a field it enter a monetary value for the top up. So you put 44.66 litres in and it cost £70 for instance. You could maybe track this in the same way the MPG are, but as a Pence, or cent etc per mile.
In regards to price, there are alot of apps/games I have seen for say £2.99 that I refuse to pay for (bejwelled for one) but this I would pay for. Im not sure what price you were expecting but Id happily pay £2.99 for it which seems the average.
I know you have spoke about the cloud but is it possible to export the information to PDF or excel etc and then have the users email this to themselves, this would cut your costs but again I dont know whats allowed
Good Luck and I look forward to this being released.
4 or 5 euro isn't a bad prize .
if you could put in lpg and diesel blend (trucks that run on diesel and lpg ) then this app would be the hammer .
it would also be nice if you could ad your own car/truck .
lets say I have a scania R420 and I am driving on diesel and lpg , I would want to know if I am saving money .
normally a truck uses 32 litre of diesel every 100 KM
now it uses 22 litre of diesel and 10 litre of LPG
Diesel: costs 1 Euro
LPG: costs 0.50 Euro
it would be nice if your app could calculate my savings per 100 KM .
if you could make that happen you would have a winner .
Greetings Cees.
looks great! i would be willing to pay $5-7 for it without adds. I would also be willing to beta test for you as i am picking up a samsung focus on monday.
Keep up the good work, hopefully we will see this app in the market soon!
App showing in other games on my phone
I bought the app yesterday and couldn't find it. Today I noticed in other games. Should I uninstall and resync? I pinned to start for now.
thanks for what looks like a good app. Have another question. I have a csv file exported from a program I was using on my iphone. Any way of exporting or manually entering almost two years of data online vs the phone? You also mention website. Was is the url so I can check it out.
Thanks,

Looks like a decent app but it also shows up in other gas for me
Thanks for comments
Hi all
Thanks for the comments, aint been on here in a while. Dont know why its showing in the games section, I've downloaded the trial and it shows in the normal menu, have purchase it and try it that way.
Answers:
1) Cost of fueling up will be coming in an update (not long)
2) Putting final touches to website then its live. it will be at www.infinitemonkeytheorem.co.uk You will be able to do everything you can do on the phone but see more information and view multiple car details over each other
3) Had to do some changes to the app to see the charts better, this is coming real soon.
4) will be adding fuel type soon.

One idea I have going is that as the data is stored online, I should be able to send a message to the phone when a service / mot /tax is due and the pic will go amber and show a 1.
The thing i'm working on right now is auto-mate (offline edition). The basic functionality of keeping track of your vehicle, store when your tax/mot is, and it will schedule the services for you, but all offline. becuase of the zero cost to me, it will be priced low. thinking £0.75...
Hope to have that out in a week.
Just checked and microsoft has put it under games, when I specifically said Tools and it was under tools originally.???
Nice one microsoft.
I could e-mail microsoft to change this but I'll just do an update which will fix it. Sorry for it being in the wrong place, not my fault.
Glad to hear. I just tried uninstall and reinstall and it didn't work. I hope I can enter my 2 years of data easily on the website. Can't see doing that on the phone. I could just get a new car and start over Those new 5.0 mustangs are nice. Add sync and I would be a happy camper
Prepare to be one happy camper, now im not saying now, im not saying in 1 week but excel import/export is always a step in the process
Just to let you know, an update was sent to microsoft over the weekend. This update will put the app back in the apps list. Include better charting, bug fixes. And ability to send error reports on some errors if they happen
Thanks for the update. Finally moved from under Games. When will the web site be up? I still haven't entered my previous data. Have been hoping to do it online and sync to phone.
Its in alpha now.... Beta next then live.
I just realized after putting in my second entry that I can't enter how much per tank or price per gallon. Any chance you will be adding this?
Yes, this is coming in an update.
Clicking on the historical button for miles/week shows the graph for MPG?
Also, whenever I enable the live tile, save the settings. The marker always goes back to disabled?
I’m proud to present the new version of my weather statistics app for windows phone 7 – “Weather Stats”. Even though I had a terrible experience publishing it (for some inexplicable reason this innocent weather app got banned from China marketplace for “political reasons” and by inexplicable I literally mean inexplicable, i.e. both certification and policy team failed to give me any explanation for that failure even after a month wasted on support tickets), I’m still proud to present this new version, just released today. Many people here helped me make this app what it is now. If you had a beta version installed – it is time to uninstall it, head to marketplace and install the real final version (1.1). If you had version 1.0 installed, you will hopefully get update notification real soon. If you have not tried “Weather Stats” before – why not try it now? It is absolutely free and contains no ads!
Weather Stats is a unique app that shows weather averages across more than 26800 locations around the globe! A lot of valuable information is available for each such location. Position on the map, Wikipedia link, high and low temperatures, precipitation and now, only in this newly released update – local time, time zone, sunrise/sunset and even a length of day chart for the year! If you ever wonder about the climatological statistics for your current location or just want to know what is the best time of year to visit the city of Arctic Bay (Nunavut, Canada) - this app is for you. And honestly who doesn’t wonder about when is the best time to visit the city of Arctic Bay? Well, now you can be sure. It is terribly cold there. And it is terribly dark during winter there too.
There are other nifty features that, I hope, would be appreciated by some of you. GPS integration, quick search, offline SQL CE database and app connect integration. There is even a map with Voronoi tessellations used to interactively show the closest weather stations to your location and areas where their data would be most accurate. As always, I will appreciate if you download the app and leave some marketplace comments for it. So please head over to:
http://windowsphone.com/s?appid=00918e7e-6b8b-4976-8782-5760ced74cc4
and grab “Weather Stats” while it is hot. Or cold. It really depends on what the weather is like.
As for weather stats, I strongly recommend you to take a look to the latest WeatherLive app (it's my favorite weather app at all). In latest version author added very useful weather statistics. Comparing with yours "average" this app can tell me exact information what I'm looking for: historical min and max temperatures comparing with the current, so I can tell, for example, today was a hottest March day in Boston for (nn - this is missing) years.

No, as I said before, I'm not complaining and not criticizing your app. But you may reflect WeatherLive app or capture http requests to see how WeatherLive got statistical data and use the same data source (if it's free of course)

Yeah, I checked that out too! "WeatherLive" is using API from "weather underground". They actually do have a program for non-commercial developers but terms are not disclosed. I might try and contact them and see what they say for my case.
Commercial apps build using their API cost developers from 520 to 5750 USD per month, depending on your number of users.

Yes its not yet got all the structure yet but its a step in right direction, as per my forum request the UB and UB2 are very different.
I can't seem to subscribe to it.

I see they havent even created a normal forum. i mean when you click on all forums, you see all the devices that has independent forums. Yet when you use the find function in chrome or firefox to type urbane, it just appear urbane and not the urbane 2nd edition . So... for the time being, it is recommended to save it as a bookmark for fast accessing.

Is not an exact forum but it is way better than having all on the 1st edition urbane forum. So yeah. Cheers lol. Nevertheless, my watch will arrive in 3 days however, i see there is no root for it. Although, i dont think that rooting a smartwatch is actually necessary, and even less if one uses android pay (since android pay requires an unrooted device)

now I look further its actually a step sideways, there's a thread which is useful to Huawei watch owners of ported watchfaces from the UB2 so a UB2 owner wouldnt be interested. So the tag is misleading.

when you are creating a new thread, you are always given the function to tag . its usually found on the lower left corner somewhere.

Google said late April to late May
"Watches that will receive Android Wear 2.0 end of April/late May - OTA starts end of April/beginning of May for some manufacturers throughout multiple weeks. Timelines differ per watch and manufacturer."

From my experiementation with AW2 DP on UB2, I'd say the later the better, its buggy and battery drain, so let the "lucky" earlier AW devices shake out bugs I'd say. I downloaded the current AW1.5 just in case I upgraded too early so I can go back. In my case AW2 DP rendered the UB2 unusable at times, so later = fewer bugs + optimized.
This is silly, the Apple Watch is wiping the floor with AW, app support is better, battery life is better, Google it looking more of a joke each year with those expensive Pixel phones. Some people who really want a wearable are so prefering Apple Watch it making them switch to iphone, Yep google, you made a product so bad it drives people to your competitor, way to go google, way to go....

So I've had my UB2 now for a few weeks, and I deliberately tried to push its limits, so I then know its limits and now work within its limits.
The fundamental problem is battery life, if you use it tethered to the phone, in BT distance mostly or the odd fallback to Wifi, then battery is good, I see a slow drain say 2%/hour for just notification filtering. If you try to use the UB2 AW2 capability to be a truly standalone mini-phone on your wrist, then battery life stinks, I was get 25%/hour. I played with the likes of the onscreen keyboard, the Play Store, but there were very few apps built for AW2, even the claimed Uber app had disappeared. Using it as a phone for talking, about 50%/hour battery drain and in my case it overheated and hung up the call!
The FAQ and the "support" from Google is terrible, you see they basically suggest resetting the watch as an answer to a problem and there are plenty of users complaining and its not even rolled out to that many yet.
The Apple Watch and the Samsung Gear S3 proves you get a decent product, just Google hasn't yet.
I've owned AW now for over 2 years, I have the Sony SmartWatch 3, it was doing good when I got it, then they did updates which enabled Wifi and it was really buggy battery draining for a couple of updates, now it is very good. So I'm thinking let the masses be suffered by AW2 and version 2.02 (whatever it is called) is the time to jump.
I bought my UB2 because its going to get AW2 and its only $180 or so, and so half the price of the LG Watch Sport which on paper looks extremely similar specs to the UB2.

But which version gave you the best battery life?
I'm not sure I could conclude, when on AW2 I was experimenting.
I’m not really sure the date glitch in clicker heroes still works. For those of you who don’t know, earlier you could just change your date and time and end up gaining so many gold coins. Tried it after years but didn’t work. Do you guys know about any such working glitch or trick in the game to progress faster?

My man!! Ik about the glitch, it didn't last for long but I had so much fun with it. I even told all my friends about it and all of them went ham. I used to just set a date for like 1 month later and doing this ended up making me a lot of money. I remember I once set a date for sometime in 2030 and the game crashed lol. I think there must be some upper limit to what date can be set.

haha, same thing happened with me when I tried to set a 2050 date xD The maximum it worked for me was 2 years. Anything over that crashed the game for me. But any other glitch that you tried recently and worked for you?

I see, I don’t know about any similar glitches though but used a trick to progress very quickly. I basically used an auto clicker that just automates the clicks (based on what delay and frequency you set for the clicks). It was really helpful, especially in the start when I didn’t have any heroes and upgrades as such.

Auto clicker? Isn’t it supposed to be one of the upgrades in the game? I don’t think they’re even worth the rubies you pay for. I just bought two and after that the price kept increasing so I didn't think buying more would be worth it.

No no, I’m not talking about the in-game auto clicker. I used a third party tool, and the best part is you neither have to spend your rubies nor your real money for it, it's totally free. Also with the game by automating the buying with this tool I made 4x progress just by one smart loop created. And please, don’t even compare it with the in-game ones, it can provide a CPS of 200+

2000+ CPS? Are you serious? The in-game ones just provide 10-20 lol. Can I get the download link of the tool you used? Will it work on my windows laptop? I don’t have high-end specs, just an i3 8GB.

Ya, the specs are way more than enough to handle it, don’t worry about that. This is the tool I used.
