[APP PACK] XDA APP PACK v1.4 (LEGIT) - G1 Apps and Games

Sorry bout the last one. This one is good now
Hello all,
I've thrown together an app-pack that includes apps that i see are necessary and important to have on my phone. I was getting very frustrated with constantly having to reinstall my apps after flashing a new rom on. So i decided to create a batch file that will allow you to install back all your apps very easily.
I know there are things such as ADB file explorer, but i think that this is a much simpler way of doing it. Its also very easy for me to add apps that you guys feel needs to be included.
Let me know what you guys think.
App list
1. Root booter
2. Set cpu
3. Move cache for root users
4. Swapper
5. WiFi teather
6. Google places
7. Tmo visual voicemail
8. Shop savvy
9. Shazamm
10. Movies
11. Free dictionary
12. Ad free
13. App Manager
14. Taskiller
15. aTrackdog
16. Biz Card Reader
17. Keep Screen Lite
18. Pure Calander Lite
Change log:
v1.1
-added ability to remove apps that you don't want installed on the phone
v1.2
-corrected app pack to follow xda rules
v1.3
-added 3 new apps
v1.4
-added bizcardreader, keep screen lite and pure calander lite
-replaced apps with new updated versions from market
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WKFMZH1Y

Can you post or PM me with the list of apps?

I just want to take this time to point out that apks are not tamper-proof. While I doubt mgorman went and modified any of the apps included in this pack, I wouldn't get in the habit of installing apps from unsafe sources. The only sources that should be considered safe are official Android Markets or the official website of an app.

How can they be tampered with? Like.turning them into a virus?
And what about the apks that devs include in their roms? Are you referring to them as well?

Everyone has to decide what their comfort level is in terms of accepting who they will trust an apk from, particularly root-enabled apps. These apps have the potential to do anything they please to the filesystem.
Google Experience Android phones are great because one can install apks from any source. That is one of the core requirements for open innovation, but its also a double edged sword. It's the user's burden to decide what is a safe source for apks. You wouldn't eat candy from a stranger, afterall, would you?

I see what you mean and I can assure anyone that is going to try this that I didn't mess with the apks and they're downloaded straight from the market

I just want to reiterate that in no way did I mean to imply that the linked zip file contains malware (but neither can I guarantee that it doesn't). Instead I was stating that it is bad security to install executable/interpreted code from unverified sources. Especially when one can just as easily grab the aforementioned apps themselves.

I would just like to point out that root booter is not recomended for any cyanogen rom. He has built a safer reboot and shutdown into his rom.
FYI the easiest way to reboot into recovery is to 'hold power' 'select reboot' 'hold in the home button until it reboots' There is no need to turn the phone all the way off and hold both buttons.

Thats why I made an option to remove apps from being installed.

Watch out for an update to the app-pack coming later tonight....
Want to add an application to the pack? Send me a PM and I'll put it in there

Just a thought
Is there a way this can be done so we can we can add the app(s) of our choice to customize the way we want it?

Yes you can. Any apps that you want installed you can place in the wanted-apps folder and when you run the batch any apk in the wanted-apps folder will be installed to your phone.
I will be adding some more options to the menu such as rebooting into recovery, rebooting into fastboot, etc. as well as more apps.

[Q] Just rooted my phone! adivce? cool apps?

Ok, first off i'll say i don't have much android knowledge. I did successfully root it following a video. I now have one click lag fix installed. Now, someone please answer these for me
1. Now that its already rooted successfully, is bricking still possible? or is that only something that happens during trying to root.
2. What is a good way to backup everything on my phone? and where do i find it?
3. What are cool apps or widgets to have that can only be used on a rooted phone?
4. Lastly, will someone point me in the direction of a manual or instructions on how to install custom roms and how to get froyo.
Thanks!!
i'd like to know that too...

1. No
2. Titanium Backup from the market
3. I don't know but I don't care much for widgets.
4. Check sticky posts here and the dev board of galaxy s
try SetCPU for conserving/overclocking your device,
Titanium Backup is godsend! well worth the price
Try rom manager from the market, it will assist in making a more comprohensive backup
Most custom roms should have a good install guide with them and aslong as you read it first, download everything first, and not get scared off by the reference to all the diferent csc files its qctually fairly easy. In the event that it does go wrong it probably was a user error but easily fixed by going over the steps again (i myself only just flashed my first android last weekend, and the improvement is worth the time and small hassle of learning to do it your self).
Some good apps are ShootMe (screenshot app), rescan media root (controls the media scanner function), cache cleaner, and there are some wifi transfer app that need root to work (still fairly new/beta/buggy). Not root but the xda forum app aswell
Hope that helps a bit

Root Explorer is the best file manager i've come across, works great and well worth the price.
Best apps (I know these dont all require root) I've come across are
"App 2 SD" - This moves your installed apps (that are compatible) to your external memory card to save phone memory
"Titanium backup" (root) - As mentioned above, its a great backup tool for your apps and settings
"CacheMate" (root) - clears your apps cache, helps speed things up
"MixGet" - increase headphone volume, very useful if you find output it quiet, be careful not to deafen yourself
"PhoneMyPC" - Connect via wifi to your computer and control, useful if you want to be lazy and sit back to move the mouse
Best thing to do is goto market and search "root", that will return the majority of them
"Handcent SMS" - Very customisable sms app, much better than stock samsung one
Good games:
Angry Birds - This is free but includes ad's (turn off internet on phone so they dont display)
Talking Tom cat - repeats everything you say in a funny voice
Need for speed Shift - Excellent graphics, really good racing game
Asphalt 5 - (can get this free from samsung apps)
Widgets I use:
Accuweather - self explanatory, great for the days weather, includes a clock (find this on samsung apps on F.W JPM) available in market
Facebook - Facebook Status updates
If I think of any others I'll let you know

[ROM] Superuser, Keep it Simple (froyo added)

Hey guys this rom is nothing fancy but I do think a lot of people would find it useful. Basically all I've done is rooted the most up to date WWE Legend rom. I figured some people, including me, don't want things to be too complicated and well hey, the stock rom isn't all that bad is it? I personally like the look of it as well as other features.
Anyways yeah so basically its the plain old stock rom, the most updated one to be exact, BUT its rooted hence you've got superuser abilities which come in handy for those apps that require it. I've also added busybox because this feature is pretty much a necessity for a lot of apps that require root and well it provides better functionality in general. Basically if you want to be in 100% control of your phone, but still have everything the way it looks normally, functions normally etc etc then this is the rom for you.
NOTE: Yes, you have to be rooted to apply this rom.
QUESTIONS:
-What is BusyBox?
Quote from http://www.busybox.net/about.html
BusyBox combines tiny versions of many common UNIX utilities into a single small executable. It provides replacements for most of the utilities you usually find in GNU fileutils, shellutils, etc. The utilities in BusyBox generally have fewer options than their full-featured GNU cousins; however, the options that are included provide the expected functionality and behave very much like their GNU counterparts. BusyBox provides a fairly complete environment for any small or embedded system.
BusyBox has been written with size-optimization and limited resources in mind. It is also extremely modular so you can easily include or exclude commands (or features) at compile time. This makes it easy to customize your embedded systems. To create a working system, just add some device nodes in /dev, a few configuration files in /etc, and a Linux kernel.
-What is the Task Killer Tweak?
From what I've been told the Android platform has its own task killing mechanism by default and all the tweak does is adjust the timings before this task killing feature ends idle processes/services hence freeing up ram quicker and thus making the phone a little speedier.
-Why a file manager app?
I'm sure there's a lot of reasons.. personally I've never had a need for it.
-Why disable the boot sound?
I guess some people prefer not to hear their phone making a noise when it turns on.
-How do I apply overclocks/mods?
Just by using the Rom Manger app you can "Install ROM from SD Card" in which you select which mod you want to install and it will do the rest.
I can make versions with different mods/combinations/suggestions so feel free to ask and if I can do it I will.

NOTE: I did not make the Super Circle Battery MOD (see source here) AND all these overclock kernel/mods ^^^ are from dumfuq (see here). I didn't make them or have anything to do with them so don't give me credit. Also don't use them if you don't know what you're doing okay? Do a bit of research first preferably using this thread (courtesy of TheGrammarFreak).
WARNING: Don't use the above mods ^^^ for the froyo rom below as they will NOT work.

In case anyone wants some pictures..
CURRENT IDEAS TO ADD:
-Battery Icon Mod (similar to super circle)
-Lockscreen & NavBar Mod
-Overclock 768MHz
-Overclock 787MHz
NOTE: Those two overclock kernel/mods ^^^ are from BlaY0 (see here). I didn't make them or have anything to do with them so don't give me credit. Also, once again I did not make the battery icon mod listed above (see source here, although I think he/she's taken it down for repairs. Don't worry the above ^^^ version seems to work fine on this rom ). I did not make the lockscreen and navbar mod either (see source here). Do NOT give me credit, please.
Any ideas for more versions? Let me know!
PS: If theres anything wrong with anything in this thread let me know, cheers.
Finally One thing that such ROMs need - file manager. Just put one in (not in system - with uninstall option).
It's annoying that you will need to setup wifi, setup google acc, than install file manager, and after that you can install ti backup - and restore wifi settings/aps, google account and so on instead only of start fm and install ti backup
And this ROM has full access to the system like in CM or just root/Superuserapp? Asking if compability issues appear?
And ye! Second thing is - disable boot sound!
A rom like this is already found some other place in this forum..

Yeah I know there is one "like" this one. However, there are a number of "almost stock" or "based on this stock rom version blah blah" roms. The difference in mine is I haven't gone and added any other kind of modification to the rom, just simply superuser rights. It annoyed me seeing those other roms with all this stuff they'd done to it making it bloody complicated when all I wanted was the default Legend interface, but to be able to use any app. Like I said in my title, I've kept it simple.

Oh, sorry, forgot to mention it - I'm using Advanced. DroidWall is starting with no problem (no FC at all), but when you hit the Apply rules, error code appears. In DW changelogs is said that app has busybox and iptables binaries inside, so my first thought was that problem is ROM related...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ok cool. That leads me to think perhaps I should add busybox to the rom
I'll fix that up as soon as I can, thanks for the feedback.
Good job Curto.
The "advanced" Superuser app is by far better, I personally wouldn't bother with the other one. It looks nicer if nothing else.
The only other things I'd do are add busybox stuff, and maybe the task killer tweak. But then, of course, we are deviating from the whole concept of keep it simple. Oh, and a file manager would be superb, the one thing I always miss about a new ROM. (Add it to data/app, I'm sure you'll work it out. PM me if you need to)
But, my advice. Keep it simple, don't start adding everything that people request, because that defeats the point. You can even ignore what I said above.
Good luck, and be blessed!

No ROM 'as full access to the system. S-OFF in the bootloader takes care of that. This ROM is rooted in the same way that CM is: an unsecured boot.img and a superuser app.

I pretty much had that in mind about releasing the rom with the "advanced" superuser app anyways. To be honest I don't really get the difference anyways seeing how one sorta just runs in the background, where as the other you can see what's allowed and what's not and.. I dunno what else other than that. Haven't really needed to play around with it all that much.

Yeah, that's pretty much my point. I am however thinking of making a list of separate stock roms that have for example:
Standard Superuser
Advanced Superuser
Standard Superuser + Busybox
Advanced Superuser + Busybox
Standard Superuser + Busybox + File Manager
Advanced Superuser + Busybox + File Manager
Standard Superuser + Busybox + File Manager + Disable Boot Sound
Advanced Superuser + Busybox + File Manager + Disable Boot Sound
etc
From my experience "astro file manager" is the best, however that other one "file manager" seems to be pretty popular too according to the market.
So the to do list is to add busybox to fix those root apps that require it, disable boot sound for whoever wants that, and add a file manager. Correct? Let me know what other changes anyone wants. If I can make a list like above, it would still be keeping it simple because I've clearly listed what changes have been made, and you have the option of picking which rom you want.
1 vote for OpenIntents File Manager. Simple small file manager. Just for installing Titanium Backup only
Thanks, I like your idea for this rom.

My suggestion is to leave the file manager aside, most people know how to get it, it's easy to do, and I don't like Astro. And people may not like what file manager I'm using. etc.
Advanced Superuser + Busybox + Disable Boot Sound ?
curto
The point is simple, for such ROM you need:
- full root compability (su+busybox+whatever-the-root-functionality-needs);
- file manager - ANY free file manager installed in /data/app so anyone can uninstall it after installing favorite fm or whatever;
In addition by options:
- you may vary SU apps (if you want, but Advanced version will be installed anyway/anyhow by most users)
- disable boot sound
This four conditions is enough for your idea keeps it simple, and gives a start to user with official but rooted ROM.
Yeah.. I use Estrongs file manager.. I find it better than astro.. Besides.. my rev4 Rom is stock except Superuser and blaYos system overlay kernel

[SCRIPT] MIUI Revamped Bloatware Removal

Hey everyone, I'm not sure why all of the 3rd party apps on MIUI Revamped are installed as system apps and we can't remove, so I made a little script to remove all those. Here's how:
Download my script attached and remove the .txt ending so it ends in .sh
- Download Gscript Lite from the market.
- Start Gscript, leave it to take Superuser access, and close it
- a new folder called "gscript" was created on your internal sdcard;
- Copy my script in gscript folder on internal sdcard:
/sdcard/gscript
- Start Gscript and then press:
Code:
Menu --> Add script --> Load file
select the script, and check 'Need SU' if not already clicked, then save;
- A new script is added!
- Press on the script you want and it will run thru and remove those apps!
**If you want to customize which apps get removed**
Open the script with a text editor and remove lines from there or add more.
To find the name of the app, you can open the MIUI Revamped ROM download and go into the System/app folder and look at the app names.
HAVE FUN!!!
I appreciate your effort but sounds like using adb or rootexplorer would be easier. If this causes problems with my rom it will be removed. Download revamped for what it is.if you don't like what's in revamped then run stock. You really should have asked before having peopl altering my rom. If you uaw this and encounter problems DO NOT REPORT IN ReVaMpED thread.

You are entirely too offended by this. We all use your rom because we love how it runs, but all the live wallpapers and extra apps, A LOT of people don't use. And until now I have been removing them via adb or other root uninstallers. It takes too long since you update your rom every friday. Quick question, why put all these 3rd party apps in the system/app folder? You completely missed the point of my post. It could very well have something to do with how you build your rom, I don't know I'm not a developer. Again, I'm not sure why you are so offended. If I was tweaking the hell out of your rom or something I could understand but its just removing some apps. Why the hostility?

[Script] Safe bloat removal script (50+ apps) [UPDATED 9/1/2011]

There's been a lot of speculation on what can and can't be removed as well as how to remove them without causing force-closes, boot loops, and other headaches. So I wrote this script that will let you disable all of the bloat with none of the hassle.
After a few prompts to find out if there's anything you want to keep that can't be replaced in the market, it will do its magic -- renaming files to a .bak extension so they are no longer recognized by Android. This will cause some system services to fail and force-close loop until you reboot (and the script reboots for you). Also included is a script that will undo all of this.
If you select every option, including the default launcher and text messaging apps (which are confirmed safe to remove without losing SMS or MMS ability or push notifications), then here's the list of apps removed:
AdService.apk, android-syncservice-app.apk, ArcVideoEditorLite.apk, BackupAssistanceClient.apk, Blockbuster.apk, BlurHome2.apk, BlurSNMessagingEngine.apk, BlurTasks.apk, BlurUpdater_VZW.apk, BooksPhone.apk, CitrixReceiver.apk, CityID.apk, Conversations.apk, DLNA.apk, DlnaSystemService.apk, FriendFeed.apk, gotomeeting-stub-1.0.74.apk, GuidedTours.apk, HelpCenter.apk, IMPresence.apk, IndexingService.apk, Kindle.apk, MessagesWidget.apk, Messaging.apk, MOTOPRINT.apk, MSExchangeService.apk, MyVerizon.apk, NewBayVault_4.2.99.36.Market.apk, NFLMobile.apk, OnlineAlbum.apk, PhotoEditor.apk, PortalStandAlone.apk, Preloaded.apk, RichLocationVzW.apk, SkypeBourbon.apk, Slackerradio.apk, SocialMessaging.apk, SocialShare.apk, StatusWidget.apk, SuggestionsProvider.apk, SuggestionsRuleCheckerCore.apk, SuggestionsServiceScheduler.apk, Swype.apk, ToggleWidgets.apk, UniversalInbox.apk, Upgrader.apk, VCAST_TONES_4_5_7.apk, VCASTMusic.apk, VCASTVideo.apk, VSuiteApp.apk, vzw_vnav_DROID3_rel_PROD_signed.apk, VZWIM.apk, VZWInstaller.apk, WeatherWidget.apk, ZumoCast_1.0.17.apk
Make sure you run these scripts using Script Manager or a comparable app and be sure to enable it to run as root or it won't have permission to make changes to /system/app.
This is version 1 of the scripts -- if any of the apps removed wind up causing problems or more are found, I'll add it to the list. I've tested the scripts back and forth myself and have tested it as much as I can without finding any issues. Also, some apps are removed without asking, such as ZumoCast or VCAST or NFL Mobile. You can find these apps in the market, so there's no point keeping them locked down in system.
Enjoy! Comments are welcome.
UPDATE 9/1/2011: fixed a typo in one of the variables (thanks everyone who reported this), added more options to keep (Swype and Car Dock Voice Commands), split into two versions -- one for the stock 5.5.959 build and 5.6.890 update (late August OTA), added a warning about removing the home screen without a launcher and that it removes the Calendar widget.
Great, but maybe it would be nice to make a y/n option for each .apk where it asks you if you want to delete that apk

You shouldn't delete them -- we don't have an SPF yet. Someone posted the complete /system/app contents and you could restore, technically, manually, but it's a bad idea. Renaming to a .bak is completely effective.

You'll want to use Script Manager -- unzip the two scripts to your SD card (internal or external), launch Script Manager (free version is fine), find the script and click it, then tick on 'root' and then run the script. Follow the prompts from there.

There's Y/N for anything you'd want to keep. About 6-7 questions in total. Anything that you can't find in the market that isn't definitely bloat has a prompt.
script
script manager that you use?
I use script manager and asked me if I want to remove each apk or not.
There is a script manager that does everything automatically?
thanks for the answer

Please read the thread thoroughly -- I'm going to ignore obvious questions like these.

Then answer 'Y' to the prompts asking if you want to keep 'DLNA' or 'social messaging'. There are plenty of photo editors in the market, so there's no prompt on that (although if you were so inclined, you could just rename the .BAK's back to their original files). I feel you haven't actually looked at the script or read my post.

I've tested the scripts back and forth myself and have tested it as much as I can without finding any issues. Also, some apps are removed without asking, such as ZumoCast or VCAST or NFL Mobile.

I think the ultimate test is to do factory reset and see how device will go through initialization stage. It can be surprises which are not noticeable during normal use. Without this it is kind of premature to say what is safe to delete and what is not.

Ehh I agree with you to a point, because i made the very noobish mistake of uninstalling bloat that i knew would not effect daily use; however, I did a factory reset to test a theory for krazy and learned that something I uninstalled makes the setup process FC and wont let you get to the blur launcher, luckily other launchers work and I was able to batch install via adb.
Thing is though is if the phone reboots when this stuff is renamed then it will survive a factory reset, though it may do the same thing mine has done. If it does its no big deal to load up adb and rename the files back so that you can complete the setup.
You forgot the World Clock widget in your removal script; the only clock that thinks it needs a permanently-resident service, regardless of whether it's running or not.

That messes with the dock though, so I don't consider it bloat.
I know its a lot to ask... but can someone either create a comprehensive list of what each one actually does... or point us in a direction to where there already is one?

Open the script in a text editor and read my comments -- it gives each one a title.
@psouza4 - nice work, it's about time someone took a more organised approach to figuring out what apks are safe to remove.
I tried to get a similar effort going here :-

but the way people behave on this forum, it's like trying to herd cats.

Thanks!
Couple of notes, too:
It was asked in IRC why I'm removing 'android-syncservice-app.apk'. This service is the extra backup stuff that Verizon added on (as evidenced inside the package in /assets/system.properties you'll find several references to verizon servers for sync, like sm_connection_url=http://syncba.myvzw.com/syncml). This service doesn't do anything beneficial for you unless you really have a hard-on for Verizon's sync stuff. I've had it disabled since we achieved root and it has no affect on account sync services (contacts, gmail, calendar, reader, etc.) nor SMS/MMS push notifications, etc.
Also, a fellow PM'd me saying he got errors that variable names were invalid -- turns out he had edited the script in Windows, saved it, and that broke the UNIX-style line endings. If you're going to modify the script, use Notepad++, UltraEdit, or something that will maintain the correct line endings. Or just use an editor on the phone, such as in Root Explorer.
Thanks a bunch man, works great. About to run a benchmark to see the results!

[ROM] Debloated BNH5 ported from TMobile, rooted, deodexed, no knox, Download Booster

** DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A DEVELOPER. I DO THIS AS A HOBBY AND SHARE MY FINDINGS IN CASE SOMEONE ELSE FINDS THEM USEFUL. **
** THIS WORKED ON MY DEVICE BUT IT MAY NOT WORK ON YOURS. APPLY AT YOUR OWN RISK **
This is a de-bloated version of the latest KitKat 4.4.2 Rom from T-mobile, i.e. G900TUVU1BNH5. I ported it to ATT and stripped it down to basics. Here is what you will find in this ROM:
Calculator, Calendar, Camera,Clock, Ctontacts, Email, Gallery, Google search and voice, stock browser, Google maps, Memo, Phone and SMS, Music player, My Files, Play Store,Video, Voice recorder, and Youtube.
Everything else has been removed. The zip file size is just under 700MB.
Other features:
1- Pre-rooted and deodexed.
2- Knox, security apps, and updater disabled (your phone will no longer update itself without your knowledge)
3- Call recording enabled.
4- SDcard write restrictions removed.
5- Tethering restrictions removed.
6- Download Bosoter functional on AT&T network.
Requirements:
1- Safestrap or custom recovery.
2- To begin with, you should be on ATT NCE4 rom or a variant of that. It has been reported that this is incompatible with NG3
Download link:
Mega https://mega.co.nz/#!tlcnwBJb!tqGDImZ-HOVKVi_ykMGzNG20qgEOXfS7cxMLdQCtsp0 (version 3)
Instructions:
This is a flashable zip. Boot to recovery to flash it. I strongly recommend a clean wipe before flashing a new Rom.
After reboot, leave the phone alone for 10 minutes before you use it. After the first reboot the data connection takes a while to be recognized. If it does not connect after 10 min, enable and disable airplane mode and it should be fine after that.
There are a few more megs that can be squeezes out of this still so I will update this to a version 2 in the next few days.
A Word about Debloating
There is a misconception that if the size of a ROM is smaller it leaves more usable space on the phone. That is not true. For example, in Galaxy S5, around 2.5GB is earmarked for the system rom, whether it is filled or not. So if you make a very small ROM the space you save is still earmarked for the system and will not show up as free space on your SDcard or whatnot, unless you repartition your /system (bad idea) or manually open some storage space in /system and use it (poor idea). Therefore, in debloating this ROM I mostly removed the elements that constantly run in the background and make the system slow and left a lot of what is not actively used intact, even if they were big in size.

Screenshots
Applications that come with the rom.
V1: Initial release
V2: Baby crying detector and Samsung Dictionary removed
V3: Removed: T-mobile boot up and power off insignia, non-essential media files, non-US-English VODB and sipdb files. non-essential libraries. Fixed a potentially fatal typo in the update script.
Okay, kind of confused here... This is V1 and your other NH5 thread is V2. Whats the difference between this and the other? More "debloated"?

The rom on the other thread is not de-bloated. The file in that thread has every single file that came with the stock ROM. The knox and updater and security files are all in there and just disabled, in case someone just decides to go back to full stock.
In this thread I have removed a long list of apps and directories and libraries. That is why the file here is half the size of the one on the other thread.
I tested this on ANCE base. No FC or hangup. Smooth as butter.
Loving what you're doing here. No-frills, simple rom.
Keep up the good work. I like that the things that normally run in the background are removed, it's great
Edit: Chrome says the file is Malware when I download from MEGA. You probably didn't upload malware but that's what it's telling me. Just letting you know

Chrome is trying to be cautious here because it sees an install script and a file marked as executable inside a zip file and freaks out. Or it could be because MEGA has been associated in the past with malware download. Whatever the reason, this conservative approach results in false alarms which is known for Chrome. See for example: https://torrentfreak.com/chrome-blocks-utorrent-as-malicious-and-harmful-software-140716/
I suggest that you either ignore the chrome warning, click on "show all downloads" and locate the file and recover it, or download it with Firefox. In either case, after you are done downloading, scan it with a reputable virus scanner of your choice. I just downloaded it myself, scanned it with McAfee Enterprise Edition and it is clean.

If you are not using safestrap make sure you have the latest TWRP or CWM installed. If you use safestrap please describe what kind of error you get. You can use the log utility to save the output of the install script on the SD card to see later what the error is.
I don't seem to be able to sync my contacts. The contact option is not listed under the google account. Calendar is not there either and the calendar won't sync.

That is because the sync functions are removed. Use the not-debloated version if you need this feature.

Any chance you can give a location to just this apk? I really like the ROM but need Google Contact Sync.

Alright. Download the non-debloated version from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...-g900tuvu1bnh5-ported-tmobile-rooted-t2900780
Unzip it and and look under system/app and system/priv-app. All the apks are there. Pick and choose whatever you want.
