bluetooth stopped working - cant get it back again - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi,
I flashed my phone with this rom V-LITE 4.3 COBALT and my bluetooth has stopped working ie not icons or picking up any devices like my cars bluetooth.
I have done the following so far:
1) hard reset the device
2) reinstalled the above rom
3) reinstalled another Jack's lite 4.3 rom
4) checked the windows directory for BtSdKCE30.dll & BtCoreIF.dl but could not find the files.
even when there is no software installed still the same issue, any help or guidance will be appreciated.
edit:
i have tried few other roms now and two seem to the generic ra3 one and also energyrom (my guess is that these are full roms while the ones i was trying were lite one so missing a lot of drivers)
I have installed the v-lite 4.3 as its the one i really like but keep getting the following for bluetooth.
"Problem with bluetooth hardware" error does anyone know how i can fix this? does it need updated drivers or something?

update,
I have got the bluetooth to work by renaming the following file to
Windows\BTHCI.dll.old
the restart the phone and it will recreate it again
but it still does not pick up my car bluetooth but picks up other phones without any problems.
there so many BT files within Windows folder but not which one to change or rename

hi,
if anyone gets this issue, on the following link the is a cab installer which has now fixed my issue with icons and picking up my hands free car kit.

I got the "Problem with bluetooth hardware" error when I try to add new bluetooth device.
I try to rename the "Windows\BTHCI.dll" file using total commander, but the file could not be renamed nor deleted.
Is there anything else I need to look out for?

MS Voice Command with new I-Mate ROM- is it working for you?

I really like having the MS Voice Command app, but I'm having problems installing it and getting it working with the new I-Mate ROM.
Is any one else seeing issues?
Thanks
I was having the same problem. What fixed mine is removing the 1.5 Voice Command update from my desktop only and then trying to reinstall.
If all else fails, try this:
1. Remove Voice Command from both desktop and phone.
2. Install old VC (1.0) to desktop and phone.
3. Remove 1.0 from just the phone and soft reset it.
4. Install 1.5 update to both desktop and phone.
Hopefully that should do it. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

@cliffai Already have a post about this...check link below:

A few people seem to be having similar issues with the K-JAM AKU2 ROM. I used the process i have used on the older ROM's and it went fine for me.
1. Begin installation of VC 1.0 on the PC however when the installation on the device asks where you want to install, i pressed cancel.
2. Start setup of VC 1.5 on the PC and also do not let the install continue on the device.
3. Browse to x:\program files\microsoft activesync and locate the voice command 1.5 folder that was created in step 2 and copy the installation cab file to the device and execute using the inbuilt file manager / total commander etc. At this point, the installation should continue fine.
The Microsoft documentation states that the original VC should be installed to the PC (so ActiveSync can see the files) but removed from the device. As it was written for WM2003 etc i thought i would test the install without the original VC having ever been installed to the device and it works great. I really dont like installing non WM5 compatible apps on the K-JAM even if uninstalling straight away so i was way pleased this worked for me.
NOTE: In fact i have since realised that if installing VC 1.5 using the cab file instead of PC ActiveSync setup you do not even need to use the VC 1.0 setup at all as its only the PC ActiveSync setup that looks for the older version.
Chris
I loaded the base 1.5 install on the new SHIPPING version of the Imate Rom - no problems. Went right in without a peep and works fine.
Thanks Guys - going with the direct 1.5 cab method seems the easiest and worked
Ms VC 1.5 is working like a Charm...I use Cabs to instal and then fix to complete the installation...sound quality and clarity is much better I wud say best as compared to XDA2/2s/Uni (WM5 only)

Corrupt zip files when downloading via Pocket IE

First of all, let me say this is a great forum -- keep up the good work!
Now for the question - It seems that whenever I try to download a zip file using my Tilt, it always comes back as corrupt, even though the download appears to complete successfully. Opening the file with the built in zip program gives an error message similar to "central directory was not found". Copying the file to my PC also yields a similar 'corrupt' error. If I download the file using my computer, there doesn't appear to be any issue.
I've noticed this on multiple download attempts from different locations, but I had chalked it up as just a problem with the zip file itself on the site.
Is there some cache tweak or something I'm missing here? I'm using KaiserTweak now with recommended settings, though this is a recent addition...I didn't install it until after I noticed these issues.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jaceson
I noticed this problem starting a few weeks back while I was using my 8525. It was also giving my an error for zip files using WinRar as well. When I tried downloading the same file on my PC everything worked fine.
I thought maybe you just couldn't unzip files with .Cabs in them on a PPC??? But it could be an issue with PIE.
Coincidence?
I wonder if it's a coincidence that we're both in Dallas. Dallas is a big place though...that couldn't possibly be what's going on here. Right?
Just thought I'd check in on this thread again. Any ideas guys?
If you have WinRaR installed go to Winrar settings and make sure that you have .zip files associated to the WinRAR application. This fixed my problem.
You can also go to Dutty's Cab collection sticky and download the MS Office cab collection I believe this has WinZip included.
I have the same problem on my kaiser no problems for a month then all of a sudden I can't download zips!?! the only thing I can think of is that I switched to att when I was with tmobile I had no problems. I don't have winzip but I do have pocketrar and changing the settings haven't helped me
im on att with medianet my email wasn't working either. I changed a few settings and now everything works fine so let me know if ur still having problems
i was having the same problem also. i thought it was an issue with the zip software on the tilt. so i downloaded pocketrar and use that now. everything works and i can download and extract zips no problem. i'd recommend pocketrar over the tilt zip program anyway, so give it a try.
Any solutions found
All, I have this very problem. Winrar doesn't make a diference either. The odd thing is that this only happens with zip files, cab files install fine. Furthermore the zips work fine if downloaded by Opera.

Hi,
I think you can try to recover the corrupt file, you may try Advanced Zip Repair at http://www.datanumen.com/azr/ This tool is rather useful in salvaging damaged Zip files. Hope this is useful.
Alan
I have the same problem, and have narrowed it down a bit. Same zip file from the same website will work if I'm connect through WiFi, but not a cell link (3G). No other changes made but the connection type (didn't even close pie). Still trying to get ahold of tech support at AT&T.
Just got off the phone with Tech support. They told me I can't download zip files with a cell link (edge or 3g) because of file size, It has to be done by WiFi.
I'm thinking that's bs.. I've downloaded uncompressed files bigger than that. trying to get ahold of someone else in Tech support.

VOIPWM6 and GPS

I've been trying to install Internet calling on my diamond, while I managed to get the VOIP working using the WM6VOIP (ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/WMXL_Support_Files/WM6VoIP.CAB) cab file and SIP Config, another problem showed up. I have tried even the last WMVOIP+SipConfig CAB package with the same results
The moment I install the WM6VOIP cab, the internal GPS function goes dead - it does not work anymore. Soft reset will not fix the problem.
It took me 3 hard resets to figure what exactly was causing the trouble
I guess the WM6VOIP cab overwrites some system files and/or registry settings vital to the GPS Receiver
Is there anyone who had the same problem or anyone who tried to enable Internet Calling on HTC DIAMOND. Any solution to this?
Same here
I had the same problem. Hard reset to fix it.
Something in the VOIP installation makes the GPS invisible to any app which tries to use it. Even the QuickGPS app would not work.
Too bad...I would love to have the VOIP option..but not over GPS.
same problem here
So THAT'S why my GPS stopped working! Jeez! I think we need a new CAB of VoIP software from WM 6.1.
EDIT: Has anyone tried this one?

Nevermind. That one breaks GPS too and can't be uninstalled. *sigh*
same here... did you installed it manually or by a pack (containing sip config tool, gsm codec, bass fix and internet calling) ?
I installed the pack... and my gps died... but not on my HTC trinity.
Someone should install all the packages manually, one by one , and see how it goes.
Please post your findings.
Unfortunately I'm in the same boat :-(

But I found solution:
Rename in windows directory following files:
\Windows\dnsapi.dll
\Windows\ipdialplan.xml
\Windows\rtcdll.dll
\Windows\voipphonecanvas.dll
\Windows\ringback.wma
Delete all registry changes made by instalation which is described by author in post #66 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401608&page=7, reset diamond and if you want you can delete now files which was renamed in previus step.
After that go to settings->System->External GPS->Access and remove tick from "Manage GPS automatically". After that confirm with OK and go one more time in the same place and turn it on "Manage GPS automatically". I'm not sure that this change are nessesary, but now I have working GPS whitout hard reset.

Problems installing TomTom 5 with WM6.5

Hi
I posted this in another board but didn't get an answer so I'll try again here (with more details).
I've tried to install TT5 on my Himilaya with esfane's German version WM6.5. After finally finding threads from people with the same problem I tried the solutions there but with no luck. What I've tried so far:
If I try to install the app using the .cab file it gets all the way to the end but then says installtion failed. I still get the today plug-in but it only beeps at me. The Navigator folder is empty.
I extracted the .cab on my PC, renamed the files according to the .ini and copied them to the folder on my PPC - no luck. The .exe just gives an error messge "failed to start". I'm assuming all of the registry entries are missing.
That brings me to the end of what I can do. I know the .cab install works with WM6.1, which is the solution in the wiki but it doesn't work on my device.
I don't want to upgrade because that means buying the software again.
HELP!!!!
Thanks in advance.

Wiimote Support!

So I somewhat got Wiiremote support on the Vivid. I extracted the Bluetooth.apk from a Cyanogenmod rom.
1.) you need to have a odexed rom (I used rumraider b3)
2.) install the attached file by putting it in /System/app (i put it on my sd card and used root explorer)
3.) install Bluez IME and the HID addon (google it )
4.) follow the IME's instuctions and select Wiimote (HID) for the device.
known problems:
lights continue to blink, it's connected and won't turn off but the lights blink instead of show the 1
use at your own risk, this worked for me, no one else has tested it. Let me know how it works for you
Sry if this is off topic ,will this work for ps3axis controller

i'm not sure you can try? i don't see why it wouldn't.
The HTC Sense bluetooth apk is the "roadblock" for pairing the remotes. swapping it out should solve problems for all the pairing problems.
You know, I never would have thought of trying this on my own. I've got a bluetooth device that won't sync properly with anything stock on the vivid but I had GB ROM that I think used the telstra bluetooth stack that worked perfectly. Since going to ICS it had stopped working again but after reading this post I decided to pull the Bluetooth.apk off that old ROM and it works perfectly again.
Thanks for the tip.
Is this possible on the new stock ATT ICS rom? How can I backup or get the original installer for bluetooth on this rom? Thank you.

You can use a file browsing app like Root Explorer.
The Bluetooth.apk will be in system/apps. Mount system to R/W
move the original file to your sdcard somewhere.
And take the one posted in op's post up above.
And paste and install it in system/apps.
You need root permissions to do this though. Good luck.

It looked like I was able to just open the apk file posted and install it. Do you think this is possible? I didn't want to screw up my phone if I didn't have the original to replace it. Thanks.

it has to be put in the system apps folder because that's where the phone looks for the bluetooth support. also it needs some elevated permissions and isn't made to comply with superuser.
you can make a backup just in case
Had it sync fine the first time I tried it, and then my dad called and my screen off profile was too low so my phone restarted lol. Now I can't get it to sync again! When I Activate Bluetooth with Bluez IME selected I get a "pairing request," and if I choose it from the notification menu it says to enter a PIN on the phone and device (which I can't because you can't enter a PIN on the wiimote, plus the IME isn't touch input anymore).
My steps:
Activate Bluetooth
Scan for devices - Nintendo RVL-CNT-01
Select Device Driver - Wiimote (HID)
Select IME - Bluez IME
Anddd the wiimote just times out. Any insight?
try uninstalling the apk that you installed via installer (not dropping in system/app) if you haven't already
then maybe try reinstalling bluez IME?
i wish i could be more help!
Keep getting a "Disconnected: Software Interference" Are there limitations on a per-app basis as far as functionality is concerned?
