I bought a black HTC Dream,it`s from Movistar (Spain) provider,it is unlocked.
I tried all the steps on this forum, i tried to downgrade to rc29,but when i press the camera+power button, appears a white background (with some android skaters down), and when it reads the Dreamimg.nbh , it says model id incorrect.
I tried to do the cupcake update(that is what i want to do) and when i go into the bootloader with home+power, hit alt+l and alt+s, an error cannot verify package.
If someone has this kind of problems and solved it,i would be very gratefull if u can help me.Thanks in advance.
In the camera+power it says:
Dream PVT 32B SHIP S-ON

Hi, I was checking my phone versions using fastboot. In the description after PVT 32B, it says S-ON for one phone and S-OFF for another phone. Does anyone know what the S stands for?

Where they purchased far apart from each other, timewise?
I believe it has something to do with the signature check when trying to flash something like an SPL that it has to verify. The S-OFF i believe that was the one that was able to be flashed by Hykuros spl for the phone and the one that said S-ON wouldnt flash .. until the goldcard came out
Just figured it out. One of your phones is the Google Ion, the other is the G1. Same "brand", different "model".
maybe its the security lock ?
sim lock or something like that ?
* S-ON : Security On (does NOT write directly boot from NAND)
* S-OFF : Security Off (writes directly boot from NAND)

an intelligent first post. finally a first post that doesn't begin with and I tried one click root. thanks for the answer something i have pondered.
Thanks Dave, I only translated this stuff from one of my web pages.
I just recently got a HTC Dream with the following details:
DREAM PVT 32B SHIP S-ON d
HBOOT-1.33.0010 (DREA20000)
CPLD-4
RADIO-3.22.20.17
Jun 2 2009,21:33:16
Firmware: 1.5
Baseband: 62.525.20.18U_3.22.20.17
Kernel: 2.6.27-9af60ed4 [email protected]
Build: 1.87.421.1 146733 CL#47295 release-keys
I noticed that the Dream is not able to use WPA Enterprise and in order to gain access to wpa_supplicant.conf I need to root the phone. I have tried several approaches and have not succeeded:
- Tried 1-click and am unable to get into recovery mode (device hangs on "HTC Dream" logo after Home+Power)
- Tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480. The downgrade fails with "Invalid model ID". (Tried both RC29 and RC7)
Can someone confirm that the phone with the above FW-version is rootable and please point me in the right direction. I have gone through the forum last night as well as Google, but as a complete noob there is so much information, and I want to make sure, I do the right thing.
I also noticed that when booting into recovery mode, I get the triangle-logo, but no recovery options (I assume that this might have gotten messed up in my attempts to root the phone) - any advise on this?
try cyans rom i think he fixed this with somehing he took out of dohnut

I tried cyan's recovery image from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3915123 (i.e. via 1-click). For anything else I would need to have the phone rooted, which I am not able to do.
A friend got a Dream Rogers:
DREAM PVT 32B SHIP S-ON d
HBOOT-1.33.0010 (DREA21000)

RADIO-3.22.26.17

Kernel: 2.6.27-d5acf552
Build: 1.89.631.1 CL#94714 release-keys
When I boot into recovery, i see:
"Android system recovery utility", and the options to reboot, wipe and flash update.zip.
So it looks this can NOT be rooted, i'm correct? (i thought anything can be rooted with a gold card)
Even if not rooted, can i update the firmware to 1.6 or 2.1 custom roms?
Thanks.
Nothing you can do at the moment, unless you're a master of JTAG

So not any way to at least update to an official 1.6?
There is no official 1.6 for Rogers dream and will never be. Google on it.

Maybe you are using a different DREAIMG.nbh file which is not for your phone, try the different DREAIMG.nbh file. Hope that will help you.
Hi everyone, I bought a used HTC One about 5 months ago.
It works great but it's not updating to 4.3. It says it's up to date.
I read that Rogers updated the phone about a month ago.
I started reading around and found that if you have an unlocked bootloader, it will not update.
Is this true? I'm pretty stupid when it comes to phones, and I don't even have a clue what a bootloader is,lol.
But I read that I should hold down the power and volume down button.
This is what it says:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** UNLOCKED ***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT - 1.44.0000
RADIO - 4a.14.3250.13
OpenDSP - v26.120.274.0202
eMMc - boot
Mar 16 2013 16:14:20:-1
Does that mean the bootloader is unlocked and will not update OTA?
How can I update, if possible?
Thanks very much for your help in advance!
is the phone running a custom rom? Go into settings --> about ---> software information. What does it say there?
The unlocked bootloader isn't actually a problem. However if there is a custom recovery installed it becomes a little messy to upgrade the firmware.
Thanks for replying, here is what it says:
Android version = 4.1.2
HTC Sense = 5.0
Software number = 1.29.401.13
HTC SDK API level = 5.12
Under "More" it says
Kernel version =
3.4.10-g9502c1
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT
Baseband version =
4A.14.3250.13_10.33.1150.01L
Build number =
1.29.401.13 CL177101 release-keys
Browser version =
WebKit/534.30
Can anyone please give me a hand and tell me what I need to do to update?
Thanks very much

Thanks for the links, I went to the page, found my version, installed exactly like the video and it installed fine.
All the info I have above is exactly the same. When I go to update, it still says I am up to date.
Any other ideas?
Thanks for the help so far, I appreciate it.
