Do you know how to get a logcat? if so, post it here or on pastebin
no i dont sorry. but i think it might have had something to do with the size of the them.. and also possibly because it has some htc elements in it. though the htc stuff has worked before so i think it was the size. what i really wanna know is is all this my fault or is it just a faulty theme? lol
anyway thanks for trying to help
try this, wipe your phone, reflash the original cyan mod then flash in the theme again, tell me if that works.
tried that already didnt work

it may be a problem with the size, but usually it would have been caught be the themer. Try sending him a pm or posting in his thread
ok i will
thanks guys!
i think it is a size problem because there were apps in system that could have been placed in data. i tried moving them around and it is being tested now hopefully (i would test but i have the "danger" spl)

ive flashed several different roms from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349375
and what mainly happens is my camera doesnt work, and my sound doesnt work. hm...so i flash some more, and then my sound finally works, but then the camera doesnt work. i keep getting different combinations like this, and cant get it to work. Now here's what's strange, i go back to the radio that came with my flashed rom (dutty's april 29th rom) and it STILL doesnt work.
im gonna feel really stupid if it is some noob mistake i made, but so far I've tried what has worked before, and it isnt working.
I have experienced this issue once before. What I did was to flash one of the shipped roms, hard reset, flash custom rom w/ radio combination, hard reset and everything worked. Good Luck.
thanks for the reply. i was really trying to avoid hard reseting. i hope this isnt the only option.
well, if i create a backup in resco do you think it will somehow save my non-working sound settings?
many people recomend that you do a hard reset after flashing a new ROM:
1-why?
2-does it really improve anything are there any people who think that this is a myth? ive even seen people claming that this solved their battery drange problem
3- whats the difference between a freshly flashed rom and a hard reset device?
4-when exactly is the best time: after the flash directly or after the first reboot when the phone finishes installing stuff from extended memory?
I'm wondering the same thing...
Me too
but i've heard that there can be some "rests" of the old rom after flashing a new.
And the hard reset clears the whole memory, so the system is "clean".
If I'm wrong tell me how it is right.
Personally, I don't believe this. I never did and never have a problem.
the argument is that a rom image (that you flash) doesn't always fill the entire memory space so there's a chance that some of the arrays could contain old data as the RUU doesn't clear the space first.
It doesn't hurt to hard reset whether this scenario happens or not, just hold the hardkeys down during first boot after it comes out of bootloader ..

the plot thickens
even the cooks thinks its not worthwhile
ill do it anyway (even if its a myth) since there is no need to wait for the rom to boot for the first time and no extra time is needed as fards says
From my experience, you really need to hard reset itje's touchit roms. I'm not sure why, but when I didn't hard reset, the device felt really really slow. This is very noticeable. After the hard reset, everything will be fast again.
I'm using jack's lite rom now, but I don't find that you need to hard reset on this rom.
i also never hard reset my device after a rom upgrade. never had problems.
ive tested my self acouple times tryin a rom for a day then hard reseting and see no difference in file structure, (backups) or registry (reg dump and compare)
so i do not hard reset my device after a hard reset

ummmm!!!... ok
i had tons of strange problems when i didnt do a hardreset after the flash.
software didnt work, icons were missing, phone didnt worked at all and so son. all problems were usualy fixed after a hardreset.
+1 for the not really worth it but do it anyway on the xperia (even in itje roms)
if this poll was on the wizard forum, im sure everybody will say its a MUST. so far only %30 here think its worth doing
yeah its a bit weird that only %30 think its worthwhile considering the number of people who do it when you read the itje ROM thread

many people use and think hard reset is equal to push the stylus into the soft reset hole...
I recommend hard-reset after flash...
It happens so many times that when ppl flashing my roms, and get bugs that I dont have, or many others dont have..
And what has been the sollution for many??? Hard-reset...suddenly they report back that it fixed their issue??
And how can ya'll "non-hard-spls-belivers" explain that?
But no matter what..
If you feel it helps, so do it
If you think it wont help...then dont
ah, and one thing more...
If you flash only the same build, basicly same roms, just with minor updates, then hard-reset after flash might not be needed cause the conflicting residue in nand might not conflict with the new flash...
perhaps just speculations and sci-fi....
But I will recommend hard-spl for any new flash, untill someone can hardcore prove the opposite...
but as said before...ya'll do what you want

I always recomend hard-spl for flashing new firmware, but thats off topic
I'll do everytime after flashed a new rom. 宁可信其有,不可信其无,believe it just cost you press some keys together, lol

After flashing, during the first boot, there already IS something that looks like a hard reset. Something like "auto-hard-reset". Therefore allow me to ask you 3 questions please:
1. Is this "auto-hard-reset" similar to the manual hard reset(when we push simultaneously left, right and soft reset key, or via Start>Settings>System>Clear Storage)?
2. What exactly did you mean in your quote(its part that I've marked bold)? I've never heard anything about holding any keys DURING the first boot. Everywhere is written: "Make hard reset AFTER you flash." Or maybe I missed something?
3. What if NOT to wait for this "auto-hard-reset", and just manually, BEFORE it happens, make an HR(pushing simultaneously left, right and soft reset key) in time when firmware splash screen is showed? It would save the time... but is it harmless?
Thank you very much for your answers!

I've searched around a bit, and found some people with this problem, and some talk on how to fix it, but I couldn't find a definitive thread or post about what to do to fix it, could anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!
Also, one more little question, I tried to flash new SPL on my G1, wiped, etc. and when I rebooted when I tried to sign in during set up, it said something about not having data services, I was wondering if that had something to do with this force close ( which I got when I booted then as well ) or am I an idiot, and I have to re-do all the steps in the root process to get a new hard SPL?
Thanks for any help!
Edit: Also, could someone point me in the direction of a good SPL to use? Or whichever one first comes to mind when you hear SPL for the G1? Thanks

to fix the FC you could try wiping the regular stuff and if it still doesnt work wipe your ext* partition ... also for the SPLs use either HardSPL or the 'Danger' SPL ... be extremely careful with the Danger SPL as there are certain prerequisites so you don't get bricked
Thanks for the reply, what are the prerequisites for the danger SPL, and is it any better than the hard SPL?
Edit: Wiped everything, same force close on startup, but this time it logged in/setup just fine
Also; looking into haykuru's SPL ( For that fancy lookin' jestur blur ROM ), and from the things I'm reading it's very risky ( I have the 26I radio and what not ) is there any forum that has a nice tutorial? Such as the one for rooting? If so, a link would be greatly appreciated, I've been fishing around for about an hour, best I can come up with is what I think is haykuru's SPL, but I really don't even know, haha, sorry I'm being such a nuisance
I have the same fc problem and have done the same wipe so if anyone else can help us please do
I pretty much fixed it, unfortunately I moved from cyanogen to a Hero ROM, after flashing haykuro's SPL, wiping, and re-doing my entire SD card, no force closes, and a nice hero running at full speed.
For you steve, just try re-doing your ext partiton on your SD card, wiping, and re-flashing cyanogens mod, and that pretty much worked for me the first time.
Hope I helped someone
Nice one cheers mate I will give it a try. Is the hero better than cyan then?
Right so I have tried everything from wipe ext 2, to formatting memory card and reinstalling cyan, I believe I have tried everything please help!!!!!
Ok first off I am really sorry for the stupidity and should have paid more attention. I was flashing the NBH on my Tilt 8925 and I got the wrong one! it was the KAISIMG-PANEL1-428.NBH that I downloaded and now the text is hard to read and it wont install and I cant change it. Right after I did that I found the forum that told you witch one to use. I wanted to cry!!! So what I'm asking is my phone done for? or is there a way to fix this? like through the andboot folder somehow?
Thank you for any help at all!!!
you learn from your mistakes though, I'm sure I wont do that again
Fixed it! :d
After I gave up I remembered someone said to hold the camera and the power button and reset buttons. I did that just to see what it would do and the colored screen came up with usb at the bottom. so I triad the right file and ran it again and it worked! Now I'll have to give it another go!
so this can be deleted now Thanks!
Just for future reference.
If you flash the wrong nbh with android, you should be able to flash the correct one using either the SD method, or the USB method.
Above all, do not panic, panic bricks more devices than bad flashes ever did
Since this is the Android area, I must say we are extremely lucky, since we are able to flash a new nbh without losing anything at all as far as the OS is concerned, your data and system files will remain intact, flashing an android nbh only replaces the zImage and the android bootloader files, unlike WM where you flash the whole OS and lose everything
Android
That's good to know because I thought I lost the phone for good. I didn't have any data on it that I needed, I was trying to install android to nand and just got the wrong NBH.
The only thing now that would keep me with WM 6.5 is cant get the wifi to work right. It connects to the router but the internet cuts out very bad, like it will work for 10 seconds then cant get it to work at all for 20min then it will load a web page then doesn't work again!
I did the same thing to my Tilt. I downloaded the Kaiser for Super Eclair and flashed it and did not not know I did not flashed the HardSPL.nbh.
I finally figured it out and flashed the HardSPL.nbh. It is at 3.29 right now. But I the phone keep getting error after the penguin screen with scrolling text. It said something about unable to read data. How do I fix this problem?

Jesus... the last post is more the 1year old.
I know you must search, but if the last post is that old, the probability that everything in it is outdated, is near 100%.
Well, that is the what I found. I hate digging up old post especially when it's that old.
I received a G1 from a friend, this isn't actually the first G1 i've rooted. I have one of my own, and I have done about 3 others without any problems what so ever.
I'm not exactly sure what went wrong. I had flashed the recovery, following the cyanogen wiki, and when I got to the flashing the Hard SPL part, i flashed it, (and the radio) and i restarted, and thats it. It just stays at the G1 screen.
No combination of keys work. Home + Power. Camera + Power. Nada.
From most of the threads I've found, I can almost say its a brick, but I just wanted to double check that theres nothing I can do (ADB?).
Thanks!

Now it just hangs on the HTC Dream splash screen.

sent it back to the SP with a story of how during the flash the computer crashed. here's to hoping.
got the phone back after being charged about $25 to repair.
anyway this time i read the instructions properly. left the radio on 3.22.20.17 and then installed the one click root and flashrec apps. I then rooted the phone, download Anon-RA's recovery image with flashrec. I then followed the cyanogen wiki and froyo is now running on it.

It definitely sounds like you have a hard brick. I think the only way to fix your phone is to JTAG JTAG it. Which I have no idea how that works or how to reload the software on your phone.
Go to this thread, this explains all:
