5 hours.. geez did you have everything on..
my NRG Rom lasted about 8plus hours with BT, 3G, and a lil Google maps action...
or maybe it's cuz i just got a new battery a few days ago, lol
5 & 8 hours???
Holy cow, my battery on vodafone uk standard rom lasts 3-4 days.
Daily usage is approx - 30 texts sent & the same recieved, 60 mins on the phone and a little bit of wifi updating weather, and maybe 20 mins a day browsing.
I have a couple of cooked rom's downloaded, but never seem to get the time to flash them.

LOL, i completely forgot about e-mail. mine is set to auto download (push) between 8:30am and 5:30pm, after that i'll pick it up on the laptop at home.
Luckily i don't get that much e-mail on the handset as i have 2 different work e-mail addresses and only my colleagues and clients have my main e-mail address.
e.g.
[email protected] is my main account and [email protected] is my public e-mail address that is listed on the company website, given out to people that call up, etc. (the j stands for junk)

Battery use is not soley determined by ROM. Radio has a bigger part and the rilphone.dll should match your radio.
On friday I had 100% battery when I left home. When I geto back Sunday I had about 11% left with a good amount of use. I charged it back up, played with different radios to see which gave me best GPS performance. Had 50% charge when started testing and went down to 0 really fast.

Did you change the brightness setting? All energyROMS come with brightness set to max on battery.
Mine is at about 60% with one and a half days - mostly idle - email push this morning from 8 to now (4) and 30-40 minutes of phone calls, some weather checking (i am using manilla 2.5 so keep checking the weather - soooo pwetty!)

Disable push mail (set it to intervals of 30 minutes or so)
Enable the Auto-Backlight (or decrease the backlight as low as you can)
Use the phone for 3 days or so, and then your phone will be at optimal battery
Disable 3G, if you want even more battery
And probably more things.
As for which ROM gets best battery life...that can't be answered. Everyone will have their own favorite. I really don't find a difference between the ROM's. Of course, Manila 2.5 ROM's will use more power, since they have those flashy weather animations, etc. But nothing very noticable.
I was using the HTC Test WM6.5 ROM for a while with Push email and a bit of WiFi and stuff, and was getting just over a day.
I decided to go back to the Official ROM because of that reason. I now get 2 and a half days out of it. If I turn off push email it lasts a lot longer, of course.
Although ROM has a few input to battery performance, predominantly it is based on what radio you have and what you use your ur phone for.

If anyone can help, I just need to know one thing before I get one of these.
How long does the battery last with direct mail on all the time using a 3G connection.
My Touch keeps it going for 2 days (at a push) on GPRS.
I dont think it can last that long.
I took off from the power source at 9.00 saturday morning and used couple of times for 3G internet browsing, trying configurations, browsing again. And was turned off during saturday evening.
When I back at home, Sunday 19:00, it was 9% left.
Btw, I dont use push mail and not always connected to 3G.
If you dont have GPS/constant GPRS connections active, then I'm fairly sure the life will be respectable once the battery is conditioned.
Currently, under heavy use mine lasts from 9am to about 11pm. The battery has only had three days of charging though, and wont be optimal just yet.
I think thats where the problem is going to be, if direct push keeps the data connection going all the time its going to last about 3 hours, maybe more with the screen off.
Anyone doing this on a daily basis? Its a shame 3G uses so much power, as I said GPRS/direct push can go almost 2 days on my Touch/Elf.
Might have to give this a miss then, which is a shame.
mattpark,
Interesting ... How to make it optimal then?
By fully charging it several times?
Or by connecting it to a power source all the time?
Thanks

The first...
Make sure you always charge the battery completely full (ie till the light comes on green) the first 5 to 10 times...
FULL means charging it double the time it takes for the light to become green. Green light means 90% (although indicators show 100%), and the last 10% takes the double the time to 'squeeze' in there
A battery has to 'set'.... So be sure you to follow this guide
Mt 8525 would last *most* of the day with direct push.
If I spoke on the phone more than a couple hours the batter would be dead or at least turning its self off by 5pm.
I'm wondering if the 8925 will be the same?
I purchased an extended battery which lets me use the phone all day.. but for a 3600 batter that's huge and requires a custom back it only lasts 2 days at best so far. I've been testing 2 weeks.
I may not get an extended battery because this huge backing is anoying and ruins the look of the phone. I love how the kaiser looks and would hate to ruin that. I would get an extended if it fit into the case itself.
Bottom line though I think an extended battery of some sort of absolutely required if you use push mail.. the only question is how long it will last.
Oh balls, Ive just bought one - So thats nokia e65, tytn1, htcs710, htc touch and tytn2 all inside 5 months!!
If you're concerned w/push email and less with web surfing, you can change the band the phone uses to plain GSM (EDGE) and that would allow you to use it for days at a time.
Using 3G/HSDPA, mine lasts from around 7AM to about 3PM with push constantly running and at least 2 hours of web surfing and about 1/2 hour of phone usage.
Hope that helps.
is it possible to disable 3g under configuration settings?, It is not really needed most of the time!
Disabling 3G
Go to Phone, settings, select band, i think choose GSM only, that should do it. There are some apps too that can do this for you on the TYTN.
your battery will go from 8-12 hrs to 24+, and thats w/ push email, i really couldn't care if a 16k email comes in 6 seconds or 2???
do you?
Battery life so far has been okay (only been using for about 2 days). I have direct PUSH activated but I am only using edge. I take a couple of calls per day + 10 min internet browsing. Battery is about 10-15% at 10 pm at night. My day starts around 9 am.
PS- just a reminder to uncheck the "receive incoming beams" in Settings menu if you don't use that function to save some battery life.

There's no infrared support on this device, so I'm not sure if that option does anything. Strange that they kept the .cpl though (had assumed it was accidentally left in the as-yet-unfinished AT&T roms).

If you don't want your data connection open all the time, try installing GBSoft's GPRS & Audio Tweak program. Get it here: http://www.gb-soft.cz/XDAII/product_gprs_tweak_wm5pe_en.htm
You can set it to turn off your GPRS connection every x minutes.

For the first week I was playing with the phone a lot, so battery was draining quickly. But last two days I've got easier, so after ~25 hours since disconnecting charger, I still have 57% battery left.
Generally, I think battery life would be more or less like Hermes' - ~2 days with 3G, and ~3 days with 2G-only.

Can I charge the battery using my old HTC Magician charger?
It has the same input and output (at least from what I read).
The reason that I want to use the HTC Magician charger because I live in NL (charger has 2 legs) and I bought the Kaiser from UK (charger has 3 legs).
Hi.
I don't seem to last a day without recharging my battery (either by USB or Outlet).
I have some useful programs but I'm afraid to use them sometimes because my phone wont last the day.
On a regular day, without extreme program usage (WiFi, GPS, games etc), just regular phone calls (GSM not 3G), my battery power lasts maybe 18 hours.
If i used 1/4 of my installed programs moderetely, my battery power lasts for about 10-12 hours.
I would like your professional advise to better by battery life.
1. Would changing my ROM to a better modified one solve my issue?
2. Is there a backround process (that is not detected my my task manager) working that I should know about?
3. Are there any tweaks (non registry) that I can do to better the life?
4. Are there any registry fixes that can be done to better the life?
5. Do third party cabs (SPB etc.) drain the battery life even if they are idle?
6. Does letting my battery fully drain and then fully charging it over and over really help the overall battery life?
FYI: I have the OEM ROM, my phone had never been Hard reseted before
I have tried all sorts of things, but I cannot manage to get my phone to last more than a day.
I would really appreciate your advise.
Thanks.
P.S please dont tell me that you people go 2-3 days without charging (that would hurt my feelings )
my kaiser lasts about 10 hours if heavily used, I mean 3G internet always on, browsing with opera mini all while listening to MP3s..
With normal usage and 3G coverage (but classic talks, not video ones) it last al least 2 days..
that's strange
Hi,
i managed to have good power after alot of research and tweaks on this forum.
-disable 3g service
-make sure no application auto-enable wifi, make sure its off.

Default ROM sucks. The registry is setup completely ineffecient (like all M$ software) so eats capacity and battery.
Best thing to do is check the 'Kaiser upgrading' thread and compare the radio version you have with what's posted there and see if you could improver performance. I'm still on the original radio that it cam with, but trying multiple Rom's dramatically improved battery life. That and speed and performance. Their is much to gain, my friend.
I advise you read the articles about CID and SIM unlocking before attemting to flash anything.
Upgrade your radio to 1.27.12.17/32, turn off 3G and flash some clean ROM (like Q-Mobile - see in my signature )
My phone can survive now more than 3 days on normal usage. Before it could live 2-3 days max.

Just got my Kaiser yesterday. Left it to charge all night and removed it by 7:30 am. At 16:00, battery shows 14% left?!?!?!?
What the heck?
Did all the power tweaks from KaiserTweak.
Lets see how it goes without 3G and with the tweaks I did today.
ROM: 1.81.415.4 WWE
Radio 1.27.15.32
Protocol: 22.51.88.13H
it can't be stated enough how quickly your battery will die if you have your mailboxes checking for new mail 'as they come in' or 'every 5 minutes', etc. if you have important emails your expecting then turn it to those settings, but if you don't care if you get your mail only every hour then go that route - it makes a big difference in the battery life.. also make sure you have the disconnect option in kaiser tweak set on - i have mine set at disconnect after 2 minutes.. and finally, if you can get away with using edge then have your phone always set to edge and only set to 3g for web surfing - pulling down your text based email in edge and not 3g is usually a pretty negligible difference.
on a side note, i bought a 3000mAH battery for about $70.. it improves the battery life a decent amount, but the reality is is that if you use the GPS for 2-3 hours without having it plugged in while using the GPS then you can always expect the battery to be dead by the end of the day (or sooner).. if your going to use it as a GPS then have it plugged in..
its all about wifi...turn it off if not needed.
This has been discussed in many previous threads.
All the above are applicable and also get rid of any fancy today plugins that show data state (WiFi-phone) and battery condition as they are constantly running and polling the relevant devices.
You will see a VAST difference when you do that.
Hi all,
just after I had my new Kaiser month agao I was collecting all kind of
software to fit my needs. And short after that I realized - my Kaiser sucks
the battery within hours
A battery tool that shows the temperature and the current showed me:
250 to 350 mA all the time. For a 1300mA/h battery this means 4 to 5 hours
or less.
The other day I removed all installed goodies - and surprise! Sometimes the
current drain was down to 10mA.
To make the story short: remove all timer software. They eat up your battery!
I had installed two of them! One to alert if park-tickets are expired and one
timer to remind me for meetings! Those little bastards apparently run in tight
loops, check the time constantly and use up the most power.
Power consumption is now low as 15mA in idle times.
good luck with your Kaiser / Tilt

so this would also apply to alarms set in Outlook for meetings? My meetings are often same time, same people every week, so better to not use alarms for those....

No, I think you'll find he's only referring to third party apps not Windows Mobile functions themselves.
He has a good point. people in other threads have found many fancy Today screen apps (always running) that show memory usage, comms, and battery status are polling the equipment on a regular basis also using lots of battery power.
Thanks Farsquidge!
I will leave my Outlook as it is then !
I think my screen is quite simple as compared with some in the post your today screen thread !

What alarm application did you use? I'll test it with mine the following days and let you know the result.
I had my office outlook active sync basically "always on". I just switched it to every 10 min during peak and every 30 min off peak. We'll see how much better that goes.
I've definitely noticed that keeping the wifi turned off until necessary helps a lot. I'm using Tmobile here in the US, so no 3G yet. I've been told that 3G sucks battery as well.
3G consumes more power. Use GSM network only.

FYI, I had to return my Tytn2 yesterday. It lost 100% battery power within 4-5 hours. It was warm to the touch and when charging would become very hot. I put Batterystatus on and it read a draw of 300-400mA when idle. This was also after a Hard reset to check that nothing else I had added to the unit was causing it.
My replacement draws between 20-80mA when idle and 220-250mA when under load i.e. using Wi-Fi, browsing web etc. Battery went from 54% when I got it (1pm) to 26% by the time I went to bed at midnight last night
It sounds like you have a similar problem?
I've set 2 alarm applications to run last night: the alarm in Mortplayer and Pocket Wakeup.
I charged the battery to 100% before I went to sleep. In the morning, after about 6 hours of sleep, my battery meter showed 94%.
This gives an easy calculation of about 1% per hour (with those 2 alarms active).
I don't know if it makes a difference to uninstall the applications or just not using them in terms of battery usage. Anyone an idea?

Hi i have a diamond with the official Htc Extended Battery Pack .... and the thing give me only juice for 3/4 of a day ....with moderate use .... Is it my ROM and radio ??

SPL(Original)
Radio:1.00.25.05 (Official)
As you can see i have not flashed the deivce .... but in order to improve my battery liife , I am willing to take that step.
I dont think it makes much of a difference. The Diamond has a powerful processor and the battery doesnt suite the phone except that it makes it thin. If you dont mind a little thickness, buy a larger battery.
I think thats the only way to go.
I think he is saying that he already has a 1350mAh Battery Extension attached, and with this battery he gets only 3/4 of a day.
That seems to short for me. Since 900mAh almost lasts 2 days....
Anyone else can give his opinion about BP270 1350mAh?
I think it matters whether you are using push email or not. Or, even just checking mail automatically on a regular basis. Signal is also an issue. If you don't check mail and have a strong signal, you'll get good battery life. If you're like me and check 2 accounts and work in a basement, better have the charger at your desk

To turn off 3G

After flashing the new 2.03 ROM I noticed, that my battery drained really quickly (compared to older ROMs).
After running Advanced Config, I noticed, that all the power saving features are disabled. Before enabling them the phone used to go from 100% charge in the evening to ~80% in the morning (without any usage, of course).
After applying the power saving features it only loses ~5% during the night.
With moderate usage I get about 3-4 days without charging. Without these settings I used to get only get ~2 days...
ROM version 2.03
Radio 1.00.25.08
2 different devices
I think we face two situations ! The duration of over 2 days and those lasting less than a day! Why?
In my case for example as any in the home do not fall below 100 mA. When Kaiser was consuming only 14 mA
Rom 1.93.831.1
Radio 1.00.25.08
And my battery survive only 12 hours.
i tried a lot of radio version but no luck...do i have the right ROM????
Moderate
I think we should define what "moderate usage" means lol
Mine last 2 days
I don't think 1 hour a day of talk is moderate.
I have found that it seems that some softwares are very power hungry. For exemple klaxon from this forum works perfect but when I use g-clock from this forum too for the same usage, it doesn't work because my battery is empty the next morning lol. Coreplayer is suprisingly low power hungry but allreader+ ask a lot from the battery.
I don't use push mail but 3g and I only enable wifi when needed. I have seen here some softwares that keep gps alive too and this must be power consimming too.
Anyone who's seen me in Rom threads probably knows that I usually ask the question about battery life, its like one of my obsessions... I want a phone that does a lot, but gets the most battery life too, probably not a winning combination, but it all helps!
I read on one thread that someone was using a radio version 1.10 and found it gave them better battery life then the new 1.13 with no loss of signal / gps.
Anyone got any thoughts?
1.13 radio
i just upgraded the radio in my hd to the new 1.13 from 1.09 and feel that the battery is a little better than before. i also currently running kwbr topix 1.0.1 wm6.1 rom. today will be the first full with that combo. i'll get back to you tomorrom on how the consumption is.
Have been using 1.13 since release and found no issues at all.
I am using Duttys 2.9 ROM and am getting 2.5 - 3 days of reasonably heavy use. Before i was getting 2 max before
Battery life sucks for me.....
2-3 days of battery life with heavy use.... i cannot even imagine getting that on my phone.
I dunno whats wrong with my phone .
I just updated to the new rom and radio from htc website.
Also, have disabled, wifi, data connections, active sync... all the stuff that take the juice out.
Also i am in NA, so also disabled 3g.
My setting are set manually for backlight and it is at the third point from the left.
I also have screen turn-off in 1min as well as switch off in 4 min.
In terms of program, i have pocket shield and incall touch lock program.
No after charging the battery to full.
This is wat i get,
Talk time- 30-45 min.
Music - 120 min. (S2P2 player)
Wifi - 10 min.
Now after almost 30 hrs.
battery is showing jst one bar.
==================================
Am sure what usage i mentioned above is definitely cannot be termed as heavy.
Let me know, if someone can help me to improve my battery life.

What do you class as heavy use?

I'd do this too, its best to start with a rom, see battery life first without installing anything, then add bits one by one and you can usually eliminate the culprit!
Re: Barety life
What?
I have HTC Touch HD half year and batery never last more then 30 hrs with oficial ROM and clever use!
With my wifi on all the time... i never cross 24hrs

i use the music player for about 2 hour's a day and use the phone for about 1-2 hours and i am nearly always on the net with it as well.
edit: @drgopoos, WiFi eats battery like you wouldn't believe so no wonder you dont get more than 24hrs. I once had WiFi on and plugged the phone in to sync with my PC and the battery still went down. What happens if you dont use WiFi. Surely you dont need it 24/7?
I too am in the same boat, can't really stretch much past half a day with a bit of music, websurfing and the occasional email. No WiFi, only 3G. I've loaded a few apps (TomTom, CorePlayer and PHM Regedit) and don't have Exchange or anything active. Running Dutty V3.6 XT and radio 1.14.25.24.
Watch your power settings! My sat-nav program turned off the "turn off device after xxx mins" option in there. I could hardly reach 24 hours with one charge since the device never really turned off. This was really annoying e.g. when a reminder popped up at night, or when the phone was out of my reach.
After I realized that and set my option properly (screen 30 secs/power off after 1 min) my device lasts at least 2 days with normal use and even 3-4 days at light use.
I use radio 1.14.25.24 on Duttys 3.4 XT

A-ha. I am getting 2 weeks with extremely heavy use.
Brightness is set to 100%, Wi-Fi and BT are always on. And I talk 24 hours a day also.
mine always have some strange consumption of power when I leave it through the night
before I go to bed it would be around 50% but when I wake up (5 hours later without running any programs of course) it drop to Battery very low
I'm using Radio 1.14, when I was on 1.13 I'm not experience that problem
I got the feeling that the newer radios use more battery. I've just downgraded to version 1.09.25.14, which I think was the original one that came with the phone. I will let you know my experience with that.

Even with stock rom I would get no where near this, and I doubt anyone else would. I've used all Throys roms and yes it may be possible to get battery usage to maybe 2 - 2.5 days when left on standby but with heavy use!!! Extremely doubtful.......what do you classify as heavy use? Leaving it alone on standby locked in the cellar so no one can touch it!!
god, i'm happy when i make it through the day, meaning 12-16h without recharging, little to no music, hour or 2 msn, some net, normal call/sms, few weather updates....best i got was about 36h on Lost In Asia v5, generally Titanium seems to drain less then Manila :/
i could see getting 3 days if i buy 2 more batteries....or never unplug it from my laptop/socket :/

only two weeks ??? Your battery is probably broke !
Lil feedback with Lost in asia V5 and radio 1.14.25.24
around 36 h with heavy use
around 48 h with normal use
But i noticed that 4 things eat a lot my battey:
-when i check my mail and when the connection is bad ...
-when my HD is connected to my pc by usb
-when i'am in subway because sometimes it's edge, sometimes HSDPA etc...
- Wifi of course !
By the way, manila eat more battery than titanium...

never had these benefits...
perhaps you have a battery plus, or a special hd
I have suffered with battery life as well... Can never get past a day to be honest & I have tried almost every ROM from here including WM6.1 & 6.5. I use my phone mostly for music, little bit of gaming and web surfing. It is connected to net all the time though, because I have unlimited data plan. I normally leave home at 8:30 in the morning & till then the phone stays plugged in with the charger over night.
On the way to work and back I listen to music with normal 3.5mm headphone & sometimes play xtract or watch movie. The journey time is around 40 mins each way. I actively surf internet for around 15mins during break, not every day though. My emails get automatically downloaded after every 2 hours from 4 different providers. AND THAT'S ABOUT IT.
By the time I get home at around 6 in the evening the battery level is generally at around 65% and I consider this as light use.
Is there any chance to improve it?! I don't wanna buy those huge batteries which shatters the sexyness of the device.
