Anyone know where can i found working esmertec java for xperia?
(im not talking about jbed, but esmertec java like in X1 stock rom)
I tried v20080912.5.1a but java apps interface was very small and sharpen (see attachment)
Try this one
Interface is not sharpen anymore, but still small.
Try build 20080912.5.1
It is WVGA optimized and installs itself and all the apps/games on the storage card, so you can save all that precious main storage space lol. Best build so far + it has a certain feature coded that makes it perfect for gaming .
Thank you, its working like a charm!
Another problem. After entering any text into java application with esmertec text entry part, bottom of java app interface will "sink" and it will be cut off.

Hi guys,
I'm very pleased by my Kaiser (bougth from HTC). great features, feels great also, GPS great, communication tools great... The only problem I've run into is JAVA. On my kaiser the java midlets don't run...
I've noticed that once I've downloaded the Mini Opera 4 and tried to run it. The instalation worked as it should but when I've tried to run it all I get is the gif image with the running man (I guess is the midlet loading notification) but after that the application is closing (including the JAVA manager). I've tried other java applications and all are installed ok but I wasn't being able to run them (the same behavior).
I've thought that maybe it's becasue of the JAVA manager so I've installed first the Esmertec Jbed java manager and after that the MIDlet Manager (TAO Intent) but with no better luck... On Esmertec Jbed I get the same behavior as with the default java manager and with MIDlet manager I cannot even install any java midlet.
1) Did anyone had this kind of behaviour or anybody knows what should I do in order to get the JAVA midlets running?
2) becasue the Midlet Manager didn't let me to install any midlets and I've read also on the wiki Midlet Bible that it's worse than Esmertec Jbed I've uninstalled it from "Remove programs" (and it's not there anymore) but it still appears on my Programs list (and if I click on it it opens).
Do you know how can I remove it completly from my kaiser?
Thank you for your time,
Emil

1, welcome to XDA-Devs
2, the reason it doesn't run is also stated in the Bible: you're using a non-Western regional settings.
There're two fixes for your problem:
a, set your reg settings to ANY Western region (including Eastern countries otherwise only using Western alphabet; for example, Estonia)
b, install the just-reviewed 2.1 version of Jbed (it's at the bottom of the MIDlet Bible), it doesn't have this problem (but doesn't support sound). See the UPDATE (11/23/2007).
Thank you Menneisyys.
Yes the encoding was the problem... Now it works
Again thank you.
Regarding the complete removal of the Midlet Manager? It's not on the "Remove program" list anymore but it appears on the Program list and if I click on it it opens.. So it's still installed. Do you know how can I remove it?
Anyway, thank you again for your great help
Ok I've managed to remove the MIDlet Manager for good
I've removed it from \Windows\Startup\Programs, deleted the \Storage\Programs\TAO folder and also I've deleted all the entries in the registry that contains the "tao" word (which was the special word that I didn't know until I've looked again over what MIDlet Manager is).
OK, great forums and great community. Glad to be part of it.
All the best,
Emil
Glad to be able of help
Hi guys,
I made some more tests on my HTC Touch Diamond. This time I benchmarked several java virtual machines: Tao Intent JTWI (v11.1.7.1036, 20070320), Aplix JBlend (v3.3.5, 20080515.1.1) and Esmertec JBed (20080428.2.1).
As you can see below, the results are very different and this fact raises one big question mark: how can these differences be explained? Why is one virtual machine more that 10 times betters that another?
GrinderMark:
- Tao Intent - 13862
- Aplix JBlend - 2271
- Esmertec JBed - 24582
Note:
- GrinderMark(TM) is score (bigger is better) resulted after running the GrinderBench, an industry standard benchmark used for evaluating Java Virtual Machines.
Regards,
Horia

I'm not sure if you want me to post a .cab file or the results obtained with the latest Esmertec JBed, but from my knowledge the JVM I used IS the last Esmertec JBed and I think the .cab file you're looking for is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402918
Does anyone use this program on their att fuze? I always have used it on my 8525 then my tilt and loved it as my default web browser. I just bought myself an att fuze today and love it so dang much! After setting up my phone with a custom rom i then downloaded the .jar file from opera mini via opera 9 that comes with the phone. When running Opera Mini 4.2 i notice all the font is microscopic and so dang hard to read.
I know this is a vga device but anyone know of a simple fix for this? Is there a special vga .jar for opera mini 4.2 or a special java app to run the .jar file in to make it work and look like on a qvga device like the 8525 or the tilt? Thanks!
Only way is to use another Java emulator, that the built-in(or I didn't found another solution).
Look for Java_JBed_VGA.CAB. Well,it has some disadvantages, but I can live with them(no fullscreen,no smooth scrolling).
Anyway,now is very useful.
i don't know if this helps... but i have the opera mini, i set the font on extra large and i think it works fine for me even though i use opera mobile as my defult
It is working good. My font is cca 5mm high. I am using it. I want to post a screenshot as well, but from Raphael I cannot directly. I need to start my laptop. I will post it asap.
Edited> Screenshot uploaded into my first reaction post.
Well,I found another thingie in my Rafi...
Jbed_20080912_5_1_Raphael_OEM.zip
Unfortunately,I don't know exactly,which installation was solved these problems,but I am sure,one of these 2.
You can see then a file jeodek.exe in Windows folder, which icon is a big e(as esmertec),but yellow color.
From 90% it is the first cab.
This installation doesn't affect the standart one,so you can create 2 start shortcuts for different resolutions.
One is like this: jbed.exe -run sX_
2nd is like this: jeodek.exe -run sX_
while X is the suite number of your Opera mini in Winsows\Appdb folder
Here you go...
I'm using VGA Esmertec Jbed 20080912.5.1.cab for I while and that's OK for the VGA res.

I cannot get this to install. Do I need to delete my former Java program? In my programs is shows Java 1 (which is the one above) and Java 2 which is my current Opera Mini 4.1 version.

This java is ghetto as hell, already tried this one since it was the only one i could find. Only lets u type like 200 characters which is barely a paragraph in a text field. Its also very outdated and not worth all the drawbacks just for a more suitable font imo. Thanks though.

Yes, is the j2me manager for X1, I would know where I can find and install this package
Sorry for late response, but you should get jbed, there are a few different versions on xda, each with pros and cons.
You could try intent or jeodek, but jbed is, in my opinion, the best. You just gotta get a VGA version or regedit the text size.
If I am not mistaken the eJava you refer to is Esmertec Jbed, which is what I am referring to.
Do a search for jbed or jbed VGA and you should find a version you like. If you don't like the one you have you should be able to simply install a diferent version and it will keep all of your listed programs and whatnot.

Thats actually what I want
thx
I think esmertec is better than Jbed. On esmertec i can use approx. 80% java applications, but with Jbed there are rare apps that works.
I'll just throw my random request in here. I have been looking for a WVGA esemertec jbed that installs on the SD. If anyone happens to have one, feel free to share lolz.

Now that I have MoDaCo 1.1 on my Hero I have jBed Java (ta Paul!!) and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for Java games and apps I can now use on my Hero?
I tried out one from my WinMo collection, but it didn't like touchscreen and seemed to want keypad controls - also too small for the screen.
Dayzee
i don't have jbed installed but i've read in the dream forums about www.getjar.com. There is a mobile version too.
I don't have jbed, too.
Bun on the Market there is an app, with it you can convert jar to apk and use ist as an normal application. Search vor j2me on the market. I think the name is "j2me runner".
