I'm new of the forum... I read all the posts but this is the first time I write!
I've a W7 RTM (7600.16385) ULTIMATE that seems like the last edition ready for the market.
In order to the activation I've the 7LOADER by Orbit30 which enable the keys if you have a known kind of pc (ASUS, MSI,HP, LENOVO....).
I read many posts about problems with W7 RC: WiFi,touchscreen, wlan....
Did anyone try the new W7 RTM installation???
Founded problems???
Do I need to install all the drives like with W7 RC???

Don't install the RTM is you need the touchscreen!
I tried everything without any success with the touchscreen.

Everything works fine on my end. I did do a clean install burning win7 img to a DVD. I installed each driver in order (via HTC support page for the Shift).
a. VISTA_INTEL Chipset Driver v8[1].3.0.1014
b. Intel VGA driver(7[1].14.10.1461)
c. VistaECDrvV1[1].0.1.10
d. TouchScreen(1[1].1.0.2)
e. Synaptics MicroPad(10[1].0.11.1)
f. Realtek Audio Driver R197(6[1].0.1.5653)
g. Vitakey _AC5023_Fingerprint AP v5[1].0.2.0 and Driver v7.10.1.0 *
h. Extension Kit USBLanDriver(3[1].8.3.7)
i. Shagctrl_1[1].2.6.122-control center
j. Marvell WiFi driver(8[1].114.123.139)
Since I lost my usb hub/ethernet, I didn't install driver h. Nor did I install Vitakey (g) because I don't like how it lags up the Shift on start up. I didn't install driver f either because the driver is provided by win7.
GPRS connection works.
The only problem I had is with the WiFi driver (htc provided), it would work on some routers and it wouldn't even locate ssid on other routers (dlink wpa) but windows update fixed the problem with providing an optional Marvell Wifi Driver and windows update also provided an optional fingerprint driver which I installed even though I don't use it.
As we all know we can't use aero past 800x600. We all use the classic theme and I'm able to change resolutions to 800x600, 1024x600, 1024x768 and 1154x864.
You don't need to apologize about asking too many questions, I believe we don't ask enough questions =).
What can I say.... Thank you very much!!!
Now I can start to work.....

My friend activated W7 on his home pc with the program 7loader and all is ok.
The program, working with the bios, ask you to set the brand (there are many brands:acer, asus, intel, msi, hp, lenovo.....) before apply the activation.
Of course there's not the HTC, so what I have to set???
For your installation, how did you active the keys to remove the 30 days trial???

I believe there are three (no! four) options:
1)- You buy a licence
2)- You get one from work
3)- You steal a licence.(sorry, but it is true)
4)- You get it as a gift from someone that bought the licence for you! (this is the best!)

I had only one problem with the touchscreen...
I solved it simply change the order of driver!!!
Not this:

BUT THIS:

Don't worry about branding it, just activate it using the 7loader you have. I'm glad to hear you got it all working!

I just installed the Touch It 4.4 ROM on my T-Mobile Wing, installation went smooth, even with the HardSPL.
Everything is running fine on my phone but theirs one problem it doesnt sync!
Whenever I connect it to my computer my phone shows that its charging but does not come up with the sync box.
Even on my computer when I open Windows Mobile Device Center, it says "Not Connected" as if the phone was not even plugged in.
I tried the Vista RUU fix at Modacos site but no luck.
Here are my computer Specs:
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 32-Bit
CPU: Intel Quad Core 2.4Ghz Q6600 G0 Stepping
GPU: XFX Nvidia 8800 GTX 768 MB
RAM: OCZ 4GB DDR2 800Mhz SLI
PSU: OCZ 600Watt SLI
HD: 320GB Western Digital 7200RPM
Motherboard: EVGA 680i SLI
Is their a fix for this?

this is a issue that has been covered so many times I wish I had a dollar for each time....
Its NOT rom related
Its activesync related
try following;
1. Delete older profiles
2. or unistall activesync, and reinstall (Covered also in Activesync HELP)
Sorry if it has been covered but I looked for hours and could not find an answer.
I have no older profiles installed I deleted them all.
I will try to uninstall Windows Mobile Center and reinstall it.
I had the same problem...my fix was to do a window's update with the phone connected. There is a specific update for usb sync pda/phones. I have no problems now.
my wing also does not sync,I can browse my phone and active sync shows it's connected but when I try to sync nothing happens. im running 4.10 pdaviet's rom. this has been the best rom for me so far so I would feally like to find a fix for it. need help please !!! I really like this rom but I can't find a fix !.

go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...roductID=7C1FA894-B2C5-41BE-8D97-E145DD2A883B and download either activesync 4.5 for XP users or the latest MobileCenter for Vista users
then install it (be sure your device is NOT connected to your computer while installing new version) then connect your device, follow instructions (hopefully your drivers will be updated and so on)

But I've experienced this problem more than once and the fix for Vista is to let the phone download the driver initially and then do a windows update while the phone is STILL plugged in...there is another driver that Vista has to install. I'm pretty confident on this one.
He is running vista
The specific update that will pop up in windows update will be Microsoft Corporation - Networking - Smartphone USB Sync. Window's update WILL NOT detect this update unless the device is plugged up.

if it works, it works. Had this problem myself a few times, and I just present the sollution that works for me, if there is other ways that is "better"...great

itje any other ideas? Not a big deal is I cant get it to sync. I never used it anyways. Im still getting a connection and a charge. Active sync is just not showing any connection. Anyone know where to get a Hard SPL OEM ROM? I love the new touch, no mem leaks, plenty of storage, Doubt that Ill be changing till itje comes out with his next project.

since a couple of days, my XDA II doesn't sync any more. It has still worked finefor a long time, since I have updated to WM6.
With my Orbit 1 async is always working fine.
When I connect it to the PC, the PC is always looking for a USB Driver.
Configuration:
Win XP; Async 4.5
XDAII WM6 by Shekhar 70C40CS
What I've tried: - changing USB-Connection and cable
- hard and Softreset
- changing USB to PC advanced network
- reinstalled async
- trying another PC
- reinstalling WM6 - no way, cause there is no USB driver
Maybe, that it is a hardware problem; but I doubt it, cause everytime, when I connect it to the PC, the PC ist trying to install a driver. So I think, there might be a software problem into the Himalaya.
Any ideas?
Sync problem - missing Driver.
Same problem with me on my notebook. Ask for help in another thread a few week ago, and got the advice to swith to active sync 4.5. I did so on my desctop and it worked wonderfull. On my notebook I stayed on as 3.8 because of my xda II and my old mda I. After I upgraded all my three xda to German WM6 i switched to as 4.5 german. I was verry suprised to get that fault window about the missing driver for that prototype thing and changing the vendor.
Not a mess I still have the desktop to install .exe and then copy the .cab files I need to my sd-cards. It´s not the known problem with the firewall (zone alarm), but it is a good question why as an the desctop works and the notebook doesn´t. Next I try to install the copied as-file from the desktop. Don´t know if it helps, I post if it does.
Hi, I had exactly the same problem, but I solved it in seconds because of Your last thread, thanx.
I had configured my windows firewall with "no exceptions".
I reactivated /checked the firewall-exceptions for ActiveSync on the PC and activated the extended networkfunctions under usb to pc on the xda and immediately everything worked fine.

I got rid of that dammned thing about the missing driver for Prototype.

Insert in /windows with the name changed, rename it afterwards.
No question, why this is possible without the massage that it is impossible, as you get it, when you try to replace directly, but it works!!
Then soft reset and change /settings/connections Advanced Network Funtionality to disable/unchequed.
The funny thing with me is, that on my Dektop-PC both works.
Advanced Network Funktionality enabled the driver is for the Prototype.
This funktion disabled finds a WinCe Device.
Both works fine. No freesed PPC when disabled any more.
On my own notebook I can connect to the PC only in disabled Mode. When enabled this prototype driver problem is still there.
On the notebook of my beloved wife as4.0 recognizes the PPC an a WinCE Device but has a problem code 10. Think it´s normal as it is 4.0 and 4.5 installs new usbdriver while upgrading.
I tryed to upgrade to 4.5 and the windows installer crashed. I love it, really nice. I don´t want to fix this, I think, for me it is OK to ignore this.
This funny behavior, as i discribed it above, all my upgraded XDA/Qtek (all three of them) do.
PS. I use the German Rom of Teijalk with HTC Home and SCLPC++ Cube and I love it. Works perfekt and really fast and stable even with lots of proggis on RamDisk and few RAMStorage left, still really fast with my Pluscom WLan Card.

The info above is wrong.
Only on my Qtek this solved my problem. Both of my XDA can´t deaktivate RDNIS for serial connection, when I try to uncheque Advanced Net Funktionality.
Don´t know why, I did the same on the other device without an error.
(Now I examined, that I used Port 8 twice. Once for serial to USB connection and second for external GPS connection, so it wasn´t able to deactivate this funktion anymore. I changed Port and everything is fine again.)
Final problem solved
totoche330 got the solution to my XDA sync problem in the thread above.
After Hard reset (No,Yes,Yes) inserting and renaming the dll. Soft reset and deactivating adv net funktionality. Works.
Don´t know why it didn´t work as it worked with my Qtek with all the programs installed, but dosn´t matter.
The problem of my notebook might have some reason:
The missing driver is called a Remote Network Driver Interface Specification to USB (RNDIS).
I think, I disabled everything to remote, because of one up to 25 trojan attacks.
I cured my xp, but i didn´t do a new setup. On the other hand it´s the only XP-Pro SP2. Desktop and other notebook are Home Edition SP2, but this is not important anymore. All PPC sync and that´s what it was about.
Two or three hours work and all the progs are back again. I hope, you can solve your problems too. Good Luck.

Sometimes after soft reset you have to cheque and uncheque adv net funktionality inorder to get synced!!

I have a problem with the Manager Comm :
when I push the button, the program runs(ShagCtrl) but when I push the buttons to activate/deactivate the wireless/bluetooth interface, seems that there is no comunication with the hardware side.
The icon says that the interface is activated but it's not!
On Linux the wifi/BT periferals work perfectly (Thanks again Pof!)
Anyone knows the reason for this problem?

I seem to have the same problem as you. Vista SP1 totaly distroys your connections and I had to reinstall vista. FN+F3+F4 allows you to do this.

Guys, maybe it's SP1 also causing problem but mine WLAN and BT became suddenly unavailable still with no SP1 installed and having all automatic updates OFF. I just hard reset Vista, gone thru all the installations and had WLAN and BT running fine for 2-3 weeks. It simply stopped working one day (recent HTC drivers were not installed anyway).
Afterwards I've installed all hot fixes from automatic updates, all HTC new drivers dated October 2008 but didn't help. MArvell WLAN drivers are installed fine but device cannot start with error code 10 in Device Manager.
Now installing SP1, will see...
One more thing, ShagCtr freezes when I try do enable either WLAN or BT and must be forced shut down.

I've had my Shift for a few weeks now, and have tried a few of the methods described here and in other forums to update from the HTC supplied Windows Vista to Windows 7.
I've consistently hit the problem that Shift Control Center (ShagCtrl.exe) crashes once I upgrade beyond a certain point, no matter which upgrade route I choose. I really want to have ShagCtrl to have control of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB etc. But I also really want to have Windows 7!
I've tried starting with an absolutely standard Vista as supplied by HTC. This is a pretty nice implementation of Vista, (as far as Vista can be nice!) and everything works as expected, with ShagCtrl available and working.
I've also tried taking a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate onto a freshly formatted disk and installing all the drivers and programs as described.
Going the update route, everything (and in particular ShagCtrl) works until I apply the Vista SP1 update. At this point, ShagCtrl crashes with the message "ShagCtrl.exe has stopped responding. Click OK to search for a solution or...".Of course, no solution is offered!
If I go the fresh install of Windows 7 route, something similar happens. As soon as I install ShagCtrl and restart, ShagCtrl crashes in exactly the same way. I've tried running ShagCtrl.exe in Vista compatibility mode – still no go.
From comments here, it seems that some folks have a working Windows 7 with a working Shift Control Center. Can someone please give me a point-by-point description of what they did to achieve this? I really don't want to be stuck with an old version of Vista!

I have just installed on my notebook windows 7 beta and i can't connect my htc diamond! The sistem don't have the driver and in device manager it appear as "generic rndis"... Nobody else???

I got a Win 7 too. and to me It connects ok, but the Windows Mobile Device Center its the one that crashes. So I haven't synced the Diamond since I installed the beta :/

Have you installed ActiveSync?
Some people on the touch pro sub forums have reported similar difficulty, seems to be luck of the draw at this stage

maybe you need to change in settings in mobile that it need to connect via activesync

Try both the Windows Vista and Windows 7 versions of WMDC. For some people, only the Vista build works...

Slightly off-topic, but is it me, or does Windows 7 look pretty much the same as Vista? I don't know what I was expecting, but I was quite disappointed when I first installed it. When I first saw Vista, aftyer using XP for five years, I thought 'Wow', but not so with Win7!!

Just (re)install WMDC 6.1 and it will work in windows 7. When updating windows 7 to a higher version you should reinstall WMDC

So has anyone got any further suggestions I can't believe its this hard every one else has no probs what might I be doing wrong (I think the fact the device is a Generic Serial not a Diamond might be a hint but I can't prove it)

I love HD2 and WP7, but I need tethering for my mobile working. I do search all google and XDA but no luck, then I decide to make it one. Lucky is in HTC Mozart have HTC Test tool, after 2 days code and fix driver tethering run well on my HD2 WP7. Then I want to share for you all, use your own risk.
1. Download XAP file in attach
2. Download HTC Sync for Android from HTC for USB Modem driver
3. Deploy XAP file to your phone
4. Turn of your Data conection in your phone.
5. Run DFRouter and click on "HTC Modem"
6. Open your device manager, it will show 2 unknown device, choise device have ID is : USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0EFF&REV_0000&MI_01, update your driver with HtcUsbMdm and you got HTC USB Modem.
7. Make a dial up call from your computer and set it work like other WP7 tethering from samsung or LG.
8. Click "Zune Mode" to come back with Zune Sync.
For dial up make a call *99# with mi_01 id modem. Mi_00 is diag port, maybe have some qualcomm unlock here. Don't forget add +CGDCONT=1,"IP","your apn" in your advance property of modem.
For modem disconnect error let turn of your data connection in your phone, crazy but it work. Not sure it charge or not from your provider.
Wifi have native code too, but need more time to to.
Will update version soon!
Important note: Don't unistall dfrouter before you back to Zun Mode.
I did test it work on my HTC HD2 WP7 and HTC Mozart and my Windows 7 x64, WinXP x32.

for the key you need to call them because it is maybe related to your live id.
for example i had to ask another key for my other live ID.

NO, it's not a stupid question, I can see where the confusion arises: DFRouter ~ Wireless
and YES, it's only USB tethering (for now)

does this work on other htc phones? if so why not put under generic wp7 development? Is there tethering on other wp7 device?

Like many, Wi Fi or USB tethering is an essential functionality of the HD2. Indeed I am using a NAND Android based ROM because I need this functionality to write this reply.
I really want to toy around with WM7 (I have flashed it once and loved it but re-flashed a NAND Android ROM because of the lack of tethering in WM7) so it would good to get some independent feedback on this fix kindly provided by OP.

My Windows Vista machine, does indeed install all the drivers... Doesnt crash either .... however as mentioned in the explanation it installs a modem, which requires a dial up no.
Unless i'm missing something can it use my 3G connection?

Hardware Error
Hi,
I am getting a hardware error when trying to connect (Error 692). The Device Manager lists the modem as functional. Windows 7 Pro 64.
Any suggestions?

I get this error too (HD7 + Windows 7 64Bit)... can someone confirm that it works with 64bit windows? Perhaps thats the problem. Or can anyone confirm that it works with hd7?
Don't forget add "+cgdcont=1,IP,yourapn" in your modem advance property.

I've tried every combination (with quotes, without quotes, dial *99#***1#, dial *99#, with dataconnection disconnected and connected end so on), but nothing works.
Can anyone confirm that this works with t-mobile in germany? Or can anyone even confirm that it works with hd7?
