I'm sure many of u are familiar with the Dopod Rom on CHina mobiles Magic phone.
http://www.androidauthority.com/ind...-gets-htc-magicdopod-g2-with-iphone-ui-style/
I know that rom has been released and some devs have it (drizzy). Just wanna know if anyone will be releasing a version for G1 or Magic 32b.
yea drizzy saisd he would release it 3 weeks ago. I quit following
Looks pretty nice.
that rom looks sick...I need that in my life!!
whats up with drizzy?? I been waiting for him to release that new hero rom for almost 2 weeks now, and now I hear he has been slackin on this too? whatver happened to drizzy having a direct connection with HTC to optimize hero to the G1/magic??? when are we gonna see anything come out of that? In the meantime someone really needs to port this over to the G1/magic...from what I read china mobile officially released the magic with this UI in May, its September now, and I think its about time we all got our hands on this goodness...
yeah thats true, we need that dopod on the g1
bumppppp
anyone have more info on this?
So...I went with a friend of mine to pick up his Droid. I must say, I was pretty impressed. While I was at the verizon store I also noticed the had a "Droid ERIS" for sale. It had the Rosie UI. Just to check it out, I wanted to see the firmware, and there it was plain as day "1.6".
Now I've heard that all of the Hero roms are running 1.5 firmware. I'm just wondering if we procured a dump for this if we could have the Hero roms running 1.6???
no, htc is making a 2.0 no time to waste on 1.6.
That isnt ture. i have bought a htc eirs and its running FW 1.5 >.<
It is actually true...at least in the store I went into today. It was the display model. It said 1.6. Either way though, with 2.0 coming out soon. I guess it would be pretty pointless to make a rom from 1.6.
i cant wait for the upgrade to 2.0 i hope its soon
The HTC Hero on Sprint and the Eris on VZW are the same phone right?
If the Eris gets 2.1 before the Hero does, can it's kernel source be used to make the already awesome 2.1ROMS we have even better?
I'm asking because it looks like the Eris may get Eclair even sooner than the Hero will.
Thanks

Umm..not really. While the phones do share the same basic hardware, there are enough differences that the kernel won't work without major tweaking. Not that it can't be done, but it's not an easy undertaking.
Also on the kernel source: HTC doesn't necessarily release the kernel source as soon as the ROM update comes out. For the 1.5 kernels it took like..umm...I want to say 3 months of complaining to them before they released it.
Thanks for clearing that up
As for the Kernel source, I plan on pushing them hard and maybe even sending EFF.org after them
Works for me. Legally they can't delay the release of the kernel source once the application goes live.
So now that Google has release the SDK for 2.2 do you think we will start seeing it ported over to our heros?
engadget link: http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/20/android-2-2-sdk-goes-live-developers-likely-unable-to-crash-goo/
yeah, is this even a possibility at all? I'm guessing no since you needed a link from Sprint to get 2.1 on there. Am i right?
Lol would be awesome to see 2.2 on the hero though. now we just need another 3 years for the "Official"[Official]{Official} release of it from sprint lol
I am just waiting for the Evo
yes i think we should see it ported, we have some of the brightest devs here, if people stop insulting them lol i could see the port real soon, believe or not this cdma section has some talent.
Yes you will
will 2.2 work on older devices? i know google said it will work on all new 2010 android phones but i'm curious if it'll work on the hero, moment, g1, etc. i'd say yes.

We will see it ported????!?!?!?
Wow, we have had "official" 2.1 for 1 day and already asking for 2.2. Not like it wasnt forseen but it is still funny.
I just want to make a note here:
The 2.2 SDK is not the 2.2 OS Software.
***INSERTING FOOT IN MOUTH*** QuietCB has shut me up about the OS rant that was here.
posted this is gen discussion but thought it was funny enough to post here.
just ask engadget for a 2.2 leak. lol. oops, learn2blur
with the emphasis on Google's wanting to stop the fragmentation of builds out there, i think that our brilliant devs will do it, probably very AOSP-y
I just hope HTC releases a phone with 2.2 soon so we can not only have 2.2, we can have it with Sense.
I want JIT and Sense working together
Im about to switch to T-Mobile however i am not going to be able to get a smartphone package so im trying to get a smartphone and ill just put in a non-smartphone SIM card. Anyway, I have a 1v1 trade in process for a G1 and my ZUne HD. Should i get a G1? i would like to know if the Gingerbread roms here are speedy and work well. Also, if the devs are likely to get Ice Cream roms going. And finally, If the new Google Music works on the G1 with a Gingerbread rom
If you can get a better phone, then do it cuz the G1 is really old and sorta slow. Gingerbread performance is decent enough for me with overclock to 576 and the new radio.
The G1 is too slow now!
The Gingerbred Roms (COS-DS, Superginger...) works ok with the "new" radio and hboot
and overclocking. Froyo works better!
Music app?? Do you mean Music 3.0??It worked for me on COD-DS.
It also has ony abour 90mb internal mem. and with the new radio and hboot (2.22.27.08 radio and 1.33.0013d hboot)
Go and get another phone not the G1 its to slow!I was using it for an half year but it was too slow so I bought the HTC HD2
I was going to get a HD2, but the keyboard was terrible(didn't have android then ) and the screen seem really flimsy(telstra version)

Hmm yes WM6.5 is laggy
But after updating official HTC Rom / updating radio, flashing hspl 2.08, flashing MADLGR 1.13, flashing CWM 3.0.2.5, partition sdcard, flash a Rom, you finally get Android on the HD2 and its incredible fast and has (almost*) no laggs!
Im running an incredible Rom: imilka's Incredible Sense
*laggs only in Sense 3.0 and Gingerbread + Sense
Yea, but I went and got a lappy + a dream instead . Oh well
if you are looking for a decent g1, head to swappa here http://swappa.com/devices/all and look for g1. the lowest price available now is 75 USD, which is a bargain
but just a heads up, g1 have a really small ram, even with 2708+ and cc turned on.
keep the zune HD, better to have both of them.
