Hi,
I have recently flashed my X1i with some ROM I found on these forums, and whenever I use my FN key, it inputs the wrong symbol. I have been trying to find an answer, so I went into the registry using CeRegistryEditor and tryed changing the "CurLang" registry key, but it made no difference whatsoever. I even tried to change it to "Farsi" to see if it made any difference between now and then, but no.
Also, I bought these phone pre-unlocked, so there i'm not too sure what region it is from, so could someone please help me find out? I have tried the US, UK and AUS CurLang values with no luck.
What am I doing wrong?
Oh, if it helps, it had a generic UK ROM which worked fine before the new flashed ROM.
Flash another ROM, if the problems is still there, flash another. Then flash a Generic ROM. If there is a problem after that, it is hardware related, if not, it is ROM related.
Pretty simple and effective .
Thanks orelsi.
I tried flashing it with another ROM, and the keyboard worked fine. I would still like to use Touch-IT Xperience 14.2.1. I took a screenshot of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HARDWARE/DEVICEMAP/KEYBD and all the values are exactly the same between the two ROMS. So I think it could be some software causing the FN key not to work. Does anyone know what software could cause this? I havent installed anything else other than the ROM.
Did any software come pre-installed with the ROM? A keyboard or AEButton plus or another mapping app?
Hi,
Just fixed it. The problem was I needed to change 2 registry values. One of them which I didnt change was this:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\IME\KeyboardLayouFiles]
And now it doesn't work again.... Could this possibly be a hardware problem?

Dears,
anyone able to enable the hidden GPS, edit HTC homeplug, add disconnect button, etc working on the new rom ?
After I edit it, it seems to reset back to original state after soft reset.
can anyone give me some advise.
TIA
Registry tweaks work perfect with latest DOPOD D810 ROM,
but only if you wait about 30 seconds after changing the values - before Softreset. The OS need a little time to write the registry back to the device.
Seems to be a common WM5 issue.

Or, alternatively, just keep the power button depressed and answer Yes to the question. This will make sure everything is flushed back to the flash ROM, as has also been pointed out in my related article.
Thanks all, it's working as it said.
BTW, anyone here in Hong Kong using 3 3G ?
It seems the old mod to able to access mobile.three.com.hk is not working.
Anyone can give me advise on where in the registry to detect the browser version ?
The previous mod as below which is not working now with the new firmware.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent
edit the "default" string as below:
SANYO-S103/1.000 UP.Browser/7.0.2.1.sn.1.222 (GUI) MMP/2.0
At the point I am I need the help of experienced Users from the community.
I flashed a original HTC Wings (S730) with WM 6.1 ROM. It runs perfectly until I got a hardware problem (radio) . This is the reason I have to send it back to the official service.
Therefore I tried to go back to an official ROM from the http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WINGS_WM61_Alcaline
At first I flashed the earlier backuped Bootloder via sspl-0.91-wings.exe. This seems to be okay. But as I tried to flash an official ROM from the site mentioned above, during the flashing process I've got the note 'ERROR 294 Invalid vendor ID'. What was wrong? Did I forget any step?
Please, is there anyone who can describe the correct way back to 'warranty' for a newbie?
Thanx a lot.
have you tried all the ROM's? there is one prerelease and two release ROM's.. try both of the release roms, they might be for different production models/locations.
I tried both official released ROM's (signed as 'Ship'), not the prerelease version.
and if you first flash the shiped rom (with hardspl) and when done flash the back-up of the spl
With reference to an earlier statement of bigflavour in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=383617&page=17
I flashed back the original SPL at first.
Too bad It seems to be that I have a new problem now. Few minutes ago I have tried to reinstall hardSPL on the device via the well known sspl-0.91-wings.exe running on the Wings. But as I started the sspl, the device shows on the display that 'Access denied....is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate'.
Thereupon I thought I had to 'application_unlock' the device. After running the SDA_App...Unlock on my PC the display message shows succesful unlocking process. B U T, the sspl doesn't run as before.
Now, I'm totally confused. What has happened??
It's flavor, and unfortunately, I have no idea how to help you.
Probably tried the European english's spelling hehe.
Also This does seem like an odd problem, have you tried for kicks doing the factory reset to see if it will reset some of the registry and maybe fix your issues? I dont know anything about the spl's since I have no need to upgrade to 6.1, I wouldnt imagine it causing any more damage but again I dont know what all was done. I havnt followed those threads for a long time.
Thanx a lot. Apparently, the hint to make a hard reset hits the mark. Now I flashed back the HardSPL. So I'm back at the starting line . Does anyone knows if the official ROM from the http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index..._WM61_Alcaline is the latest one and can I use it for the warranty return?
Or should I look for an original German HTC ROM?
I was a little bit to fast. I will need a German ROM definitely, because the ROM from the Wiki doesn't include a the german language option.
Is there anyone who can help me with a original HTC S730 ROM for the german market?
Thank you in advance.
Hallo HSN,
if you give me a introduction how I backup my ROM, you can have my one. I own a German HTC S730. But I am confused when I read all threads about flashing etc....
One page introduction how to back up and you can have my one.
But I think that the Repair center here in Germany, doesn't care about the Rom you have installed.
Hi all.
Has anyone found using their original ROM that sometimes you go to phone out and there is no audio? I find the fault is typified by when you dial, you hear no dialing tactile tones from the key entry. Then the phone rings out but I hear nothing. A reboot fixes it.
Any comments?
Thanks,
Alistair.
Maybe found the fix posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=779152#120448
I've applied the CAB hope it sorts it thanks.
Have you tried switching to WM5 or 6?
I never had that problem as i changed my ROM when I first got my BA.
try this link

Well the problem seems to have gone after the previous cab install.
Re WM5/6 yes, I am quite keen but the FAQ for upgrade is unfortunately not so clear for me. For example:
The wizard takes one through the process with one ROM, no problems but other information:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...0.ROMx20.thatx20.willx20.workx20.forx20.mex3f.
Advises that I need to find out system information and search for my ROM before upgrading. So its confusing do you do the wizard and forget trying to find the correct ROM or search for your ROM - in my case I did, and its not there although my device is AU/NZ/Vodafone, so will be a very common GSM model.
Cheers,
Alistair.
Hi
just after installing windows live messenger italian (0410 on the .cab) i got some annoying keyboard problems.
When i press g it make gv
when i press . it make m.
and so other.
i tried to configure my registry back to my code (italian -> 0410 hex) in every way. no way to reset it.
I also used shap's advanced config and selected it to italian. no improvement. i tried some cab fix(at&tilt kayb fix, italian keyboard fix), same either. i'm going mad.

Do you mean after flashing the rom the keyboard is still screwed up, or do you mean flashing the rom was unsuccessful?
Did you try uninstalling live 1st?

second, edit the registry, making all the thing i found in the forum: no improvement
third, revert to other 6.5 rom : no improvement
4: revert to 6.1 wwe rom: no improvement
5: revert to 6.1 stock italian rom: no improvement
i'm just going mad: the registry, when i hard reset, or install a BRAND NEW ROM do not delete itself? goin mad.
it's about 10 hours i try to configure what's the problem. I really goin mad because all the things are configured well...
Just for update: there is the situation on my keyb
qwertyuiop works well
asdf also
g make "gv"
hjkl works well
canc work but insert after the canc a return
caps lock works and stay capped on led (on/off)
z works
x works but also do "ok"
c works
v make "gv"
b make "b and space"
n works
m make "m and ."
pgup and return works
fn make "; and shut off the status led"
the windows symbol also do that
ok make "x and ok"
tab make c
space make "b and space"
. make "m."
the arrows works
It's unusable, i hope someone will suggest something!
Well as you have changed roms several times, it's going to be a hardware problem.
If its the physical slide out keyboard then it sounds like something is causing improper keypresses, maybe caused by water damage or some other liquid, so try opening up the device and cleaning the keyboard out thoroughly.
the phone is brand new, just 3 days of life... never got water or something else.
It's still covered by warranty, but i will prefer if is possible to do something via software...sure if is an hw problem no way..
i will revert to stock rom (is a v1615 vodafone) but i lack information on stock radio rom (italian version) :-(
keyboard fix
i noticed in your original post that you mentioned doing the AT&T Tilt keyboard fix .... are you really using a Tilt, or a "Kaiser"? There is a different fix for the "Kaiser" keyboard.
(I just flashed this weekend and incorrectly applied the Kaiser Keyboard fix and wondered why my Tilt keyboard was still typing the wrong values)

A brand new kaiser?? Do they even still make this phone? You sure it's of the kaiser family? What is your phone?
it's new because it's a return of an rma.
every piece is "new", but ,what a shame, the keyb must not.
i was wondering how to reinstall the stock spl and lock the cid... i can also buy a new keyboard, but i will lose warranty...
however, yesterday, i messed around with settings, and in some manner, restored all the keyb functionality...but i not get all the special characters like umlaut chars..so i continue to mess around and the keyb stop working...so i thinked on a sw problem, but i can't figure how to repair it...

In my opinion you should go back to your stock rom, leaving your phone "as is" and go for the warranty. Since the problem can be the keyboard hardware.
Messing with it and not knowing what are you doing could end up with a "no" warranty coverage and a useless phone for the momment causing you first ;a headache and second; a couple of $$ for getting a new keyboard. If you send it and you get warranty coverage you can end up with a new kaiser, tilt or whatever phone you have and no headache at all for spending a lot of hours messing with the registry
Cheers and good luck

If it's a replacement phone then most likely it will be a refurbished device, and not actually "new", that you have there. Perhaps it was sent back for the exact same reasons you are stating now. It might be worthwhile getting in contact with the supplier and finding out what was wrong with it in the first place.

Did you followed these steps? There are clear as water....
5. Download NBHExtract and follow the instructions in the link to extract the NB files from the ROM (essentially just copy nbhextract.exe to the temp folder where the nbh file is and run it from a command line - like so C:\temp\kitchen\>nbhextract.exe RUU_signed.nbh
6. You should now have several .nb files in that directory, the one we're interested in is the 01_SPL.nb.
7. Now you have to create an NBH file with just the SPL, to do that download htcrt (HTC Rom Tool).

Hi, if anyone could please help me i would be gratefull, i recently purchased a D2 but its already preloaded with WM6.5 rom version 2.53.405.5 (76952)WWE, But i really wanted WM6.1 as, among other things, i wanted to use the handwriting rec.
does anyone know what stock rom to reload? and where i can get it? sorry to ask such a basic question.
thanks in advance,

thanks for that, however it seems to have just bricked the phone
it seemed to work, all the correct messages displayed
but......
now all that happens is it turns on, shows the touch diamond2 screen, then resets
it has the following text in red in the lower left hand corner
r 3 . 43. 25 .19
g 61. 20t. 25. 10U
d 1. 39. 47382
does any one have any ideas?
Try to hard reset.
tried that before i posted
and a soft reset, and another hard reset to be sure,
i searched the forum but couldn't find any reference to that type of error either.
any ideas on how to retrieve it from paperweight mode?
Download stock ROM for your region
Unpack it with WinRar or TotalCMD
Rename RUU_signed.nbh to topaimg.nbh
Copy topaimg.nbh on your SD card
Enter bootloader (hold volume down and turn on phone) and follow instructions
edit:I guess for wm 6.1 you need lower version of SSPL
thanks dude, i used the bootloader to reinstall the latest rom from HTC.
Topaz_S2_HTC_WWE_2.53.405.5_Radio_Signed_Topaz_61.44etc.25.35_4.49.25.91_Ship
my phone is no longer a brick however i am back to square 1 in that i still have wm6.5, and i want 6.1
ive tried to reflash with the older rom fighter7139 suggested
RUU_Topaz_HTC_WWE_1.39.405.3_Radio_Signed_Topaz_61.20t.25.10_3.43.25.19_Ship
but it gives me the same rebooting error.
any ideas why wont the older rom work on my phone? or if theres an alternative to that rom ?
thanks
I've loaded hardspl 1.83 and extracted the file RUU_signed.nbh and renamed it to topaimg.nbhand,
i moved it to the SD card, reflashed the phone with the 6.1 rom,
but i get the same error.
any idea on what rom i should use to update from?
or what stock spl i'd need to run this rom's version of 6.1 ?
a thought
maybe i don't even need 6.1, all i want to do is to fix two things -
1) make the sms messaging work like on the old htc devices ie diamond or tytn ie not use htc messaging
2) add handwriting recognition
- would also be nice to have the taskmanger icon, the battery icon and the original windows start menu back too, but im not dependent on them....
so i guess any rom would do that allows these functions, any help or info on this would be much appriciated

thanks for that, however that was the first thing i tried, i saw the download for the handwriting ap just after i got the phone, not knowing it didnt have it when i swapped from my diamond,
the thing is the update only works on certian AP version control builds -
the message on the site is -
Note: AP version control -> The criterion will pass if the Touch Input for Pocket is equal to Version 2.1 (Build1919.1320), or lower.
mines a higer version, which i assumed originally had to do with it being wm6.5 not 6.1,
- i have tried downloading and installing anyway but it wont load.
does anyone know how to get this update to load, or how to change the AP version control back to a lower version ?????
any help would be much appriciated.
if it matters,
i'm running Duttys HG, and ive flashed to hardspl,
i don't mind flashing back to whatever, i just really need the handwriting app
The handwriting SIP is likey hidden.
There is a reg edit to unhide, just search SIP Reg Edit and you should find it.
If I recall it was under the WM general tweaks.
thanks for that, i got the letter and block rec working, but still not the transcriber the reg key shows it should be showing, but i think the actual file may not be there,
fixed after changing the reg, and downloading the update, you then need this transcriber cab

Any luck finding a way to get 6.1 working on this phone? I just bought the Pure from AT&T as a replacement for my LG Incite that had 6.1 on it. So far I can't stand 6.5 at all. My main beef is with IE, I really like the one on my Incite vs. this one. And my other problem is with the start menu, I also prefer the drop-down style in 6.1.
Thanks for any replies or help.

Start here.
Once you unlock your phone, you can flash to anything you want.
6.5 is hands down better than 6.1, there are 6.5.219xx builds that have the drop down start menu.
Thanks Bruce!
For some reason I couldn't find a good Pure forum, so that link helps a lot.
