Hi I tried it but when I go to settings > Lock; the dial pad will automatically pop up. In other words, I can't get to see the tick box to untick it. Please help.
The lock pad appears as you have to put in your lock code to be allowed the options of turning it off. Hope this helps

Uhm let me see if I got this right:
For example you set face unlock, when you try to unlock the phone, the phone asks you for face unlock instead of the default unlock?
If that's the case, then yes. It's supposed to work that way.

u now using x z and it happens to u?
yeah i set for example face-lock mode, then the default disabled! and then i cannot return to default mode cause disabled by credentials and
i should factory reset it.
that default lock mode is not important but i thought it might be a problem or mistake by me!
Got it!
it s about Credentials that disabled swipe mode (default)
I removed credentials and then swipe became enable.
as in if you "clear credentials" at the bottom of that menu the default swipe unlock will return? does face unlock remain too?

it s about the level of security (in my experience)
if u choose high level for example pattern then the low level security will disable.
after i cleared all credentials all kind of lock screen return but for example my vpn connections losts
after that when i set pattern again and create vpn connections now i don have swipe again.
it seems logical rather than a bug.
I have a pattern lockscreen, and there used to be an option called vibrate on touch so the phone vibrates on each dot of the pattern.
after the update my XZ still vibrates fine, but my wife's XZ doesn't vibrate on the lockscreen when drawing the unlock pattern anymore and I can;t find the option to turn it back on.
anyone able to help?
thanks!
The option is under Settings -> Sound.

Hello
It is not this Option.
We mean only the Vibrate setting in the Lookscreen

Perhaps your wife has broken her vibrator in some way? The phone is waterproof... Jokes aside, I found the setting on mine (CyanogenMod 10.1, 4.2.2 as well) under Settings > Lock screen > Screen security > Additional options... but it is greyed out!? #noidea

I checked and no other option to set vibration except for the one I said above. I also tried setting a pattern unlock and there is vibration on each dot of the pattern. Perhaps you can just tick the option under Settings -> Sound and see if it works?
I have attached a screenshot I found which shows the setting.
It used to be under security settings prior to 4.2
the option is no longer visible after 4.2.2 update.
it seems my wife turned off that option before updating, and it kept the setting. but now it's not possible to turn back on as the setting is no longer there......

I have had my S8 Plus set with no lock screen & I like it that way. Goofing around with the settings, I accidentally re-enabled the swipe to unlock & now it won't let me set it back to none instead of swipe.
WTF am I missing here??

Works fine for me.
Settings --> Lock screen and security --> Phone Security -->Screen Lock Type --> None.
VZW S8+.
Never mind, whatever was wrong fixed itself & now it's working fine again.

Can't Disable Password Lock Screen on S8+
I cannot disable the screen lock!
I believe it is a result of that fact that I just enabled the Find My Device feature via google.com/android/device manager. I set up a password there. Then my phone locked, and I had to enter the pw to unlock it. Now, I always have to enter that pw to unlock the phone. I tried to turn off the password lock in the phone settings. Under Screen Lock Type, it says password. I am required to type in the pw, to turn it off. It temporarily changed to "Swipe", No Security. But then as soon as a navigate away from this screen on my phone, it goes back to "Screen Lock Type" - Password. I can't disable the screen lock! It's driving me nuts. So, I turned off the Find My Device feature. I also went into Phone Administrators and removed the radio button next to Find My Device. That didn't do it. I restarted the phone. I disabled google smartlock (I don't know if that is relevant). That didnt' work either. I read something about selecting Clear Credentials, but that option is grayed-out on my phone.
Please Help!!!
Hi, on my S7 I did deactivate the notification bar on my lock screen.
But I cannot find the setting on my S10.
When my S10 is locked, I do not want to get the notification bar by pulling down (to change Wifi, mobile connection, bluetooth and so on).
It's just, because the kids play with my phone and they do not know how to unlock it. But when the notification bar shows up on the lockscreen, the can change the settings of all my sensors and stuff
Quite annoying.
Thanks for your help.
Settings -> Lock screen -> Secure lock settings
Turn on "Lock network and security"
Thanks, but this doesn't help. It was already checked.
The bar can still be pulled down.
On my S7, this wasn't possible at all. I could deactivate completely.

Yes, but it should ask for you to unlock it to change any settings. Give it a shot.
It only does that for wifi or mobile connections. But you can still switch off auto sync and other stuff.

Try Cerberus. It has that option. But it has so much more.
This one is much simpler

There are both paid options I think.
Do the kids just grab it or do you hand it to them? If you hand it to them then in the same menu there is an option called "Show lockdown option". From your Lock screen, holding down the power button will give you the option to lock it down. That should prevent everything you're worried about. The only thing is that you'd have to manually do it every time.
arrggg...it works, BUT....the fingerprint requires the android lock screen mode. And the fingerprint is needed for my online banking. So I cannot use another lock screen app. Damn it...it would have been a nice solution.

I use face unlock including the setting Direct Unlock and Raise to Wake. I don't know what I just did but now every time i lift the phone to unlock it I get 'Smart Unlock successful. Slide up to open.' It didn't do that until an hour ago. It used to go straight to the last screen I was using. Searched everywhere but cannot see what I did that changed it. I am on the Beta but I don't think that makes a difference. Any ideas?
TIA
In the end I did a reset of settings and also wiped the cache in recovery and that seems to have got it back to normal. Unfortunately, meant I had to redo all my settings again.
I have the same problem, it's very annoying any better solutions then reset...??

Just to be clear - it wasn't a full factory reset, just a reset of Settings. So no apps or data was lost.
