dont know if you guys experienced this or not, it seems like i cant get my phone to be fully charged after the 1.5 firmware update, it takes like 10 hours to get it fully charged. So i thought it was my phone, but after i get the replacement from t-mobile, its the same thing, so i thought its the battery, but after i replaced the battery which i got from HTC, it turns out to be the same....what do u guys think what happening to my phone ?
for example, if i charge my phone for 2 or 3 hours, and it says its 60% charged...then i reboot my phone, the battery bar becomes full, and i check the battery info, its 100% or 99%.....so you guys think it's the software issue ? maybe my phone is already fullly charged, but it just cant recognize it ? but this cant happen to 2 different phones with different batteries right ?
This happens to my phone even i flash it to the cyan 4.0.4
CyanogenMod-4.0.4
HardSPL
2.22.19.261
Please Help !!!!
weird, have u tried to UN-root?
ya...tried...was back to normal once when it was at 1.0 firmware, but then after i root or updated to 1.5 firmware, it happens again...i dont even know why this is happening
Anything running in the background sucking up battery power? Bluetooth enabled? Music/Video player "stopped"?
There is a file you can delete to make the phone forget its battery charge settings and start over. I searched but with the old Cy threads gone I can't find it. Try searching the forum a few different ways. Maybe it is also in a different rom thread. If I come across the file name I will post it here.
if i delete the file, would it indicate how much battery is left ? or how much battery has been charged ?
i think the directions on what file that needs be deleted are in the experimental thread, i remember reading about it as well. basically, what you are doing is deleting the old battery readings and the files that tell the phone how much juice the battery has left, and when you reboot after deleting them, it causes the phone to create new ones.

Try deleting batterystats.bin in /data/system if you upgraded without flashing. This will recalibrate your battery...

they don't want it to turn into another "I hate google" thread. i am pretty much sure that is the reason they locked it.
so if i delete batterystats.bin , the battery indicator would back to normal ?not just going up by only 1% for every 10 minutes ?

i put the command up in the first page of this hread ,and it was still there when i looked a minute ago.
so after i deleted the file, and i go to the recover console and type the commands and thats it right ?
i tried....didnt work....
i rebooted to recovery mode, then select console..input the commands....reboot the phone...problem still not solved....hmmm
If I remember correctly wasn't the procedure for resetting the battery to completely drain the battery till the phone shuts off on it's own, then charge the battery while the power is off till charging light turns green, then when you boot your phone use the terminal or adb to remove batterystats.bin

Yes those are the proper instructions. Don't do this very often though, its not good for Li-ion batteries
What an interesting problem. I have never run across this problem before.

Hey Guys i have a couple of problems I was wandering if any of you have the same problem or something similar?
My accelerometer is off about 5-6 degrees to the left on all the sides. This is driving me knots. Any body know if there is a way to calibrate it? Or i have to send it back to HTC?
And i do have some other very strange problem. Wen I'm on unlocking pattern screen and battery charge 19% or less. It is showing me 19% but if i go to settings and status it will show me actual percentage. If I will restart phone or plug charger in it will show me actual percentage on the unlocking pattern screen and it will grow wan being charged. But if i will unplug it wan it is below 19% it will get stock on the number and will not drop. But Wan I'm going to the settings/status it is showing me actual % of charge witch is correct. I did try many roms and it is same on all of them. Is it a hardware problem or every one have it?
The battery problem only happened to me once, i just let it run out of batteries and charged it again, and it fixed it.
First of all, the is the DEV section... your question has no relation to any dev discussion... this should be in Q&A... mods please move!!
How did you figure out the 5/6 degrees slack on the accelerometer? If it's using a particular app, try another app... try reseting the phone to defaults... otherwise, you might have to send it back... looks like u have a root phone though, don't knw abt the send back to HTC part...

I don't know how to move post.
I have lots of games and programs that uses accelerometer and same off set on all of them. And i have tried many ROM's and i have reset about 6 times same thing no changes. I have got replacement phone from HTC and it did had more problems than mine. So I'm sanding replacement back.

Thanks for recommendation. I can't use this ROM do to unreliable Bluetooth. This is my work phone and I'm driving a lot so this is out of question.
Everything should be fine with CM 5.0.4.1 as well. I suggest re flashing a ROM of your choice with full battery via Anons recovery. fastboot via Volume down + Power, and go into recovery to flash the zip. then after this, dont charge it until the battery is low.

Hi guys,
Since i recalibrated my Samsung galaxy s Battery it seems like the battery is dropping even faster then it used to.
Just wondering if it would be possible to Push this batterystats.bin file manually into adb push ( File ) /data/system and the restart the phone..
If yes, could someone please upload there batterystat.bin, only people with a healthy battery life please, my phone at the moment can barely survive 8 hours with minimal use....
Thnx guys
Hope it works / is possible
Battery stat is only a logfile. Search for a process that is draining your battery or reinstall your rom again.

And in regards to statistics it always seems to be my display which is at like 80% ....
SO i thought that if the batterystat log is replaced with another whereby the recalb is better it'll function longer. From what it looks like altho the battery physcially has battery whenever the reader reaches 0 it turns off, and charging only seems to take 30min to get it back to full????

Got the file, going to give it a go and leave feedback here.
If anyone else wants to try i have attached it
People still confuse batterystats for something else, this only keeps the HISTORY of your battery usage and will not dictate the %, if you want to calibrate your battery find a way to empty it and charge the phone will its OFF, then remove the charger and power ON the phone.
Well that might be the case, but strangely enough today i have had the phone on for 13 hours and still got 22 percent battery left, which before was not the case. So seems to have made a difference for me.
If anyone else wants to try and get back with there results that's fine.
Kind regards
Styla
Hello
I can't use my Galaxy S more than 3 hours, after that the battery is on 0 %. I've tried some of the guides here, but nothing helps. My phone is running Darky's Rom 9.1 Extreme Edition. I would be thankful if some of you could help, so i can use my phone without it should be plugged in the charger!
- Mosawer
I also got some issues with darky's 9.1. Did you tried 9.2 version? it solved most of my battery problems. but still i can't wipe battery status from the CWM.
No but i would definitely try it. I've also had Darky's rom 8.0, and the battery life wasn't the best on that also. To be honest, my phone has never survived a whole day without i should plug in the charger. I've also tried the battery wipe, but it didnt work, actually it just got worse. Before i tried the battery wipe, it could hold 7-10 hours, but now i cant use it more than 4 hours.
you could calibrate your battery, as flashing ROMs all the time can confuse the battery and make it think it is at a different % than it actually is.. try this
1. Run the device down until it turns itself off.
2. Turn it back on and wait for it to turn itself off again.
3. Remove the battery for 10 seconds.
4. Replace the battery, but leave the device off.
5. Charge the device until full and then for another hour.
6. Boot into recovery and reset battery stats (or, go to console and type “su” enter, followed by “rm /data/system/batterystats.bin”)
7. Run the device’s battery down until it turns itself off.
8. Charge to full while off.
9. Restart and use as normal.
when you have done that you could try a battery saving app i use juice defender its free, but there is a paid version with more features. what this does is everytime the phone sleeps (screen off) it disables all connections like 3g wifi data mode etc but still allows you to receive calls and texts..
also get your self a good task killer, and place a icon on the home screen to kill running apps quick, i do this everytime i put my phone in my pocket, making sure nothing is eating my battery apart from me when im using it.
try them methods and post back with your results in say 2days time ?? good luck
EDIT: another thing to do is use automatic brightness, this adjust the brightness of the screen depending on the ambience of where you are. e.g if its sunny the screen dims down, if its dark it brightens up... great for saving battery.
Thanks man, i will try calibrating my battery this way, but dont think i'm gonna download the task killer og battery saver, but i'll sure post my result after i've tried it !
well there is samsungs own built in task manager its good, you will be suprised what apps open up on their own and start using your connections and running processes without you even knowing. all that drains battery. but just see how you go
Well it didnt work dude, the battery life still sucks as much as before

Hey... first off, what sort of things are you doing with your phone? Casual browsing, youtube, streaming? Wifi, GPS on?
If the battery is not defective, there must be some program instance that is draining that battery.
Wifi, GPS and that sort of things are off. I'm browsing a little bit, and then just use my apps and games, and of course i write some sms's. and hear music.
Thats the thing i'm doing on my phone.

Nothing have worked, but i finally remember how the battery drain started! It was when i decided to calibrate my battery. After i did it, the extreme battery drain started! So it has nothing to do with Darky's rom or something else, i is the battery calibratings problem. Anybody knows how to fix it???
Having seen so many posts on calibration of battery, i have decided to make this thread so to make it easier and useful for you guys. This thread can also be used to share your experiences with calibration and usage of milestone's battery.
Note: This is done using a the motorola milestone 1. So if you're using any other phone, pls ask abt them in this thread b4 you do anything!!!!
Intro:
The calibration of the battery is needed when you want to switch/install roms. This will make sure that the battery is really fully charged, thus preventing the battery life from dropping too drastically in a matter of hours.
I know there are some other methods to help calibrate your battery, but this is the only one I am sure of the steps. Please inform me of the other methods so to share with everybody.
Steps:
1. Before flashing a new rom, use root explorer (with read/write set) to delete the file "batterystats.bin" stored in /data/system/.
2. Charge your phone with it being turned off.
3. After it is fully charged(100%), take out its battery without plugging off the power supply.
4. Wait for a few moments, and a ? sign will appear.
5. Put your battery back in. You should see that the battery percentage increases quickly to 60%. If it increases to 100% with seconds, please skip to step 6.
6. If it stops increasing at 60%, let the phone continue to charge until 100%(takes quite a while)
7. Once it reaches 100%, let it charge for a further 15-20 minutes.
8. Once that's done, you can boot to OpenRecovery and flash your rom!!!
Alternative way of calibration(thanks a lot zeppelinrox!!!):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11803458&postcount=10
This method allows you to calibrate the battery and use ur phone at the same time!!!
I hope this helps you people, because it really helped me!!!!
Note: i m not responsible for anything bad that happens to ur phone. Perform the calibration at ur own risk!!!(though it should be perfectly fine, unless u do something wrong or extra)
Btw, i am just writing things that i assume to be correct, so if anything needs to be edited/added, pls inform me through this thread or sending me a pm.

Calibrating Without Downtime!
Edit: If this doesn't work on your device, try the Die-Hard Battery Calibrator Script to ensure a proper charge
This is proven to work with Motorola Milestone so I would imagine the Droid as well.
It works with the Milestone 2 but you may need to get the phone booted up manually (step 7) instead of the easy reboot in step 6.
If you have a different phone and this works, please let us know!
You probably won't believe that this will work but try it anyway.
The big benefit of doing it this way:
It's great if you don't plan on changing roms and just want to calibrate your battery without downtime so that you can just use your phone as you normally would.
Note: Be sure that the phone isn't running hot (feel the back)
1. While in Android, charge up to 100% and leave the phone plugged in.
2. Delete /data/system/batterystats.bin
3. Remove back cover
4. Press Power and choose to reboot normally.
5. When the screen goes black and the lights go out, pull out the battery before you get the M logo. It will probably still work after the M logo shows up but that's how I do it.
6. Surprise: The phone will boot up without the battery! - Mine does - every time
Note: Batterystats.bin is recreated when you see the M logo - even though the battery isn't in the phone.
Go to Step 8 if the phone booted up as described.
7. If it doesn't boot up and you see the battery with the ?
..........a) Put the battery back in (you will see 60%),
..........b) Power off the phone (press power until LED light goes out)
..........c) Power on the phone (press power until you see the M logo)
..........d) Remove battery... and watch bootanimation...
8. a) After the surprise of seeing the boot animation without a battery, you will then see the lock screen along with a "No SIM card error" and no signal.
...... Put the battery back in - the SIM card error will disappear, you will get a signal, it will show 60% full and the icon will show the battery charging.
...... Go to Step 9 if this works as planned. If it doesn't, reboot (again without the battery) and use step 8b instead of step 8a.
... b) Put the battery back in during the bootanimation, but after the haptic feedback/vibration (and the buttons along the bottom light up).
....... On a normal reboot, you can actually slide and unlock the phone when you get the vibration during the boot animation. You knew that, right?
9. Use your phone normally while you calibrate the battery
10. Let it fill it up to 100% + 15 minutes or so. When it is truly finished charging, the battery should be cool.
11. If the phone is running hot, weird things can happen. For example, you may get no signal when you put the battery back in or the battery doesn't begin charging (the status bar battery icon doesn't change). Just let the phone cool off and it should work next time.
100% full is approximately 4200mV
As you can see in the cap below, it's showing only 60% at 4241mV (This was after booting up without the battery and putting the battery in)
A few minutes later, still plugged in, it showed 100% at 4225mV and then it went up to 4230mV.
Finally, I then unplugged the phone and I got a reading of 4196mV
Notes:
Now, when I charge it up, it will go up to 4230mV everytime. I leave it plugged in an extra few minutes after that.
I highly recommend Battery Monitor Widget
Batterystats.bin gets recreated if you unplug your phone and plug it in again. So don't do that. Let it get recreated on the M logo (Step 6).
Thanks to pcphobic for a couple of important tips and to pcphobic and sileshn both for confirming that my phone isn't possessed!

Recently I follow Azhad's way to wipe the battery.
When I delete the file (ie. cc_data) under that folder and go back in it, the file will be regenerated. And the batterystats.bin is updated according to the timestamp of the newly generated cc-data file. I don't know if this is the same as the step 6 from zeppelinrox's method.

the myth about the batterysoftware needs some real facts. payce from german forum did some measuring with real astonishing results.
I have seen that article before.. thanks to you of course
I'll quote the conclusion of the first post:
That is, the stone over-estimated the voltage at the battery is full by ~ 60 mV and underestimated the power of up to 100 mV with an empty battery. The intent is well-battery protection (which is good too). It is pretended that 3.0 and 4.2 volts to discharge until it is loaded. In reality, there are more 3.1 volts and 4.15 volts (which by the way of battery manufacturers also better unanimous opinion!).

So the reading I get via Battery Monitor Widget aren't that far off and perhaps exactly where they're supposed to be.
After fully charging (showing 4230mV while plugged in) and then uplugging the phone, it will ideally show between 4150mV and 4200mV vs the 4.15 volts (ie. 4150mV) quoted above.
My phone will power itself off between 3150mV and 3200mV vs the 3.1 volts (3100mV) quoted above. Actually, I just checked BMW's log and today it powered itself off at 3162mV after 19.5 hrs.
I found it interesting that you use less power while downloading overclocked versus downloading at stock speed lol.

Of course it would calibrate either way.
The difference is that I found a way to do it more conveniently.
You can do it anytime, use your phone normally and actually monitor the voltage as well.

I am using MS2 and there isn't an option of "reboot" when pressing the power button. Can this be done by using the "quick boot" app? thanks
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.siriusapplications.quickboot&feature=search_result
it seems to happen only when it gets high load (high app usage..).. when some cpu intensive app is running, 3G is on, etc..
it shuts off (does't restart automatically), and when I turn it on again, the battery meter is always awful lower than before.. it does NOT happen if it's charging or plugged in usb cable..
I've made some tests with it already, before posting:
- it happens with stock kernel and with cocore 6.8 or 6.2 (I think), so I think it doesn't matter the kernel
- it happens with stock ddul? firmware and dxamd1 (pure vanilla), so I think it doesn't matter the rest of the SO
- it ALWAYS happens while stress testing with AnTuTu with less then 80% battery
- it won't happen while charging, no matter what. (AC or USB)
- it happens a lot less if POWER SAVING mode is on... (I think it's because it won't let cpu goes to 1ghz, sucking less energy from battery)
so.. MY verdict is: my battery is failing.. right? have to replace it, right? 13 months of use only... any tests I could do before buying a new one? is there any really trustable site where I can buy a good one? fake battery are ALL AROUND and they SUCK
This is absolutely normal because this is a function of android. It automatically shuts down when the cpu high loads to avoid hardware breaking.

What? so is it normal to turn the phone off IN MY FACE whenever I try open foursquare and instagram at the same time?
it should restart normally.. not shutdown..
it defeats its purpose as a phone when auto shutdown..
I think I'm missing something here.. why are you both saying the phone SHOULD restart or shut off itself? of course it shouldn't. There IS something wrong.
And today, after like 6 consecutives shutdowns, I put it on the charger.. and suddenly from 6% of battery it got to 60% !
I've read about battey discalibration.. and it sometimes fit.. but not the sudden shut off.
I've tried the method of trying to turn it on many times till it can't even display the logo.. (MANY times it displayed the logo, tried to boot, but shut down afterwards).. then I fully recharged it.. boot, recharge, boot, recharge, boot recharge.. but no success..
Whenever the battery is lower than 80%, any heavy app I try to use (like foursquare), it just shut offs in my face. It's like I pulled the battery off!
edit: today it happened again.. the battery was 20%.. I was using it normally.. then suddenly POOF: black screen on my face! When I turned it on again, it said 5% battery.. and 5 seconds after that: black screen on my face!
maybe is there any LOGS about what is going on .. ??????
I don't think it's about the battery. Maybe something's wrong with the device. Try taking it to the service centre.
I wonder if you can provide me a dmesg log?
In Terminal Emulator, you can try:
su
dmesg > /sdcard/dmesg.log
"All lights must fade, all hearts return to darkness."
here.. just after a crash.. I turned it on and plugged in usb cable for adb shell ..
I would recommend you completely go back to stock and test. If it does work, you know where the problem lies. If it doesn't, it's time to use your warranty

I downloaded I9070XXLQG_I9070ITVLQ3_ITV.zip and installed via odin (on PDA section).. it seems that nothing has changed..
In "About", every version is XXLQG but it continues to crash if I use it for more than 10-20 minutes (without the charger/usb plugged in)... lol
and I don't have warranty...

If that's the case, your phone is suffering from a terminal illness. I wish you the best of luck.

don't you think it's "just" the battery? it seems it's not charging enough never.. it says 100% but it doesn't handle the load.. also, is there a way to REALLY reset everything? even a "factory reset" keeps many files on /sdcard.. and "re-partition" on Odin crashes it
ps.: pardon me but don't you think your signature is too big? you waste half the forum's page with it..

If anyone step by this topic.. I found a solution to my problem.. I replaced my battery..
it was "swollen".. I thought it was kinda normal to be like that but IT ISN'T. If your battery isn't *completely* FLAT, you'll have to replace it...
