Hi,
What is the best video converter, which can convert DVDs. And also which has a time required indicator. Any ideas???
Thanks
i'd say that very much come down to what you wish to convert dvds into
Oh sorry, i meant to convert it to play in my wizard, probably wmv or avi, with good quality.
Go for DVD Catalyst, work perfect, and you can try it out for a few rips, and I think there is even a free version too. I had tried a few others, like Spb's app, but it had problems, like no audio in the end result.
But, currently I'm in the process of ripping my collection. Not to mention, there are tons of settings and features, more than any other app I've tried, only about $20.
DVD Catalyst GT
Nice app to RIP videos and dvds but dont support vcd...
But also you can try the SPB mobile DVD nice app too. and it lets you to chose one piece of the entire DVD!!! amazing isnt it?
MEncoder is a great app that is free. I must tell you though if your looking for something that is brainless this is not the application to use. However in my opinion it is the best app for video conversion.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MEncoder
I use Total Video Converter. TVC. It's not free, but it's pretty cheap and gets the job done easily
I use DvDFab Platinum+Moblie; perfect 1:1 copies (erm i mean backups) disregarding for what the protection is on the dvd (CSS, RipGuard, SecuROM SafeDisc (version 3), Sony ARccOS, TAGES)
I like it b/c of above (obviously ) but also b/c you can chose to remove any part of the movie, unwanted audio channels, menus, previews etc.
Has preset and quality options to convert for devices, ie WM, zune, ipod, psp, nds, etc..
About €70/$90.
I work on SONY mexico
Does you copy!????? Dvd's
Cracking secures?

Hey all, first post here. I have what should be a simple question but I can't find a clear answer. I'm going on a trip and want to watch a movie on the awesome Captivate screen but I'm unsure of where to find any. Does anyone know if there are online (legal) sources where I can purchase/rent & download a movie or TV show? Does Amazon movies work on the Captivate?
Thanks for the help in advance.

I am not that sure of the technical details of the formats but I have used anydvd and handbrake (high profile settings) to convert my personal DVD collection. The screen is incredible on this phone.
I always watch disney movies on youtube by typing disney name and part 1
They're magical
Sent from my phone so excuse the spelling errors
Alright, I guess I'm sol until I have a chance to convert some videos at home. Thanks anyways guys!

I've yet to run into a format our phones can't use (I hear there are SOME issues with 1080p mkv). As long as it's capable of supporting the license files if something is DRM locked, it should open in the video player.

And if the phone's default player can't play it, there's always RockPlayer and a few others available in the market that will do the job.
Just curious, I just got a sprint tab with data. Thought I would use it more, but my epic 4g does every and it more portable. So do you use for work, play, school or something else.

I use it for getting my emails (work mainly), some games, movies i've ripped from my dvds, storage for my photos from my htc touch and my galaxy s.
Sometimes i use it for twitter, facebook, and even browse once in a while .
Oh, XDA forums too
I have a GalaxyS as well, and while i agree that it does everything and is more portable, i still prefer the bigger screen when typing (now that i have the thumb keyboard on the tab, it is so much easier to type with my thumbs now)
all daily tasks, including phone call, sms/mms......
I use mine just like I would use a laptop. I have my desktop setup for remote desktop and I like using it to browsing the web for extended periods of time. I take classes online it's great for watching/listening to live chats (since it has flash). I also watch streaming videos and dvd rips...and now I can watch Netflix and do Skype!). Download torrents on it...use it as a stand alone GPS receiver (use Co-Pilot for offline maps) . Play games on it (as I don't really like playing games on my Evo b/c of the smaller screen... I prefer the 7's)
I rarely use the camera however with this latest Gingerbread update I may start using Skype more. I hope they update the Google Talk to include Video soon, then it might be enough to keep me from getting a larger Honeycomb tablet as soon. I still want the 10.1 version...but for now the 7" Galaxy Tab is perfect for my needs.
Oh...and I use it as wi-fi only (the service was cancelled since I can tether for free from my MyTouch 4G)
I totally replace my old xperia x10 mini with this beauty... i use it most for play ps one and some gameloft games... also as a notebook replacement, as a phone... enjoy music and videos... some chat too.

This tab already replace my laptop and my htc sensation..2 in 1..lol love it!!
do the daily works... emails, sms, phone calls, browsing, game and XDA
I use mine for browsing the internet in the living room, or reading/writing emails. The most used app is actually the IMDB app as I find the initial screen with trailers for up-coming films very useful (and a joy to use!)
I recently got a SGS2, so the tab has been sat round not doing much for a while, but I'm slowly coming back to it.
It's also great for long train or coach journey. It's the size of a portable DVD player, so great for films/TV, and gaming is lovely on it! Especially with the great Gameloft games that came for free when I got it.
I use my tab a lot for reading. I have a lot of books and articles in various formats like pdf, djvu, kindle and the tab is small enough to carry my library everywhere and big enough to comfortably read and browse.
The big screen (compared to a phone) is also a plus for watching videos, gaming and browsing desktop version of websites.
I also use it to listen to internet radio and mp3, record photos and videos and as GPS device. I use my laptop now just for things where I need special software (like Odin ;-)) or a real keybord.
I really love this device and it clearly exceeded my expectations.

I just buy one new in France for 150€ without contract (very very good deal), and I'm very please with it.
I use it as my primary phone with a Sony MBW600 bluetooth headset.
Lot of game (just finished plant vs Zombi) and multimedia use : 3 episodes from Games of throne, with subtittles, and it was very nice.
So I root it, put overcome 2.0.1 and desimlock !
I go often on the web and check my mails with the stock Samsung application which is very nice.
One of the best thing i ever had...
I us it mostly for couch browsing (I'm too lazy for powering up laptop), emails, youtube and kindle
I rearly play games or other stuffs, but I will probably use it for skype video calls when upgrade to gingerbread

The Tab plays movies you can get from torrents just great with no conversions needed. Getting them converted to play on my iPad is a royal pain. So my Tab goes with me on the airplane as my portable movie player. Also works great for email but for browsing the web I prefer the larger screen of the iPad.

Well I have an old plan with Sprint since 2002 which is sinfully cheap and they'll force me to triple my bill if I want any current smartphone (using a Treo Pro) right now.
So I scored a Verizon Tab 7 new on Craigslist for 200 and get my Android fix that way. Actually at the doctors office right now tethered via wifi. Use it for web/email/music/so forth.
Might invest in the $20/1gb plan down the road.
Actually prefer it this way. The 7" screen is big enough yet size is pocketable to carry around.

love my tab for reading all my ebooks and digital comics, streaming slacker and youtube when i'm running around, and the occasional angry birds..
Everything i can do with a phone and a laptop.
But have passed the tab on to my wife now.
I use it in my classroom because much of the internet is blocked, to show video, or pictures, and to show calculator useage lessons.
I use it in Mexico to interview families using an app I wrote. I take a family photo, and get the gps coordinates, record the answers to the interview, then save the data as an .xml file, and export it to our database, where our families are posted to a google earth map for American churches to select and commit to the project of building a free home for these very poor families.
Quick browsing at home
Remote desktop when commuting
News weather etc commuting
Soduku commuting
Browsing etc.
Extensive email....you guessed it: commuting.
Purchased vzw with intent to cancel data...but use it easy too much. Would never get one without a wireless data plan now.
On train 2+ hours every day.

I use mine for:
Remote Desktop (via PocketCloud)
Reading/Editting Word & Excel (via QuickOffice)
Reading eBooks (via Kindle)
Watching Movies (DVD/Blurays Converted using DVDFab)
Playing Games (too many to say)
Email
Hiking GPS (via Gaia GPS)
Browsing Web
Streaming Netflix (now that GB update is out for my Sprint Tab)
Ill b using my newly acquired Tab 7 as my in car entertainment ill still use it around the house for browsing n playing games though. Im in the process of removing my current stereo, starting to be impractical to have to remove subs n amps when I take my car onto the racetrack. So having a tab will be great, covers my music n video, n ill only have to run a small amp for the speakers. Ill post up pics when I get it all done

Yesterday, my Chromecast was delivered to my office via OnTrac. I was showing it to a friend and trying to explain it. We couldn't see it in action and I was only talking about it via what I'd heard on the Internet. I had a hard time explaining it and she just waved me off and said, "I can do all that with my BluRay player and it only cost $65 for a lot more functionality."
At the time I didn't have a good comeback because I hadn't used it. Then I took it home and saw why this is better than any "smart" BR player or TV or AppleTV or Roku device. I've kinda made a mental list to help me explain it to others. Here's the list. I was hoping you would help by adding to the list....
- No keyboard needed. Have you ever tried to search for something via a smart TV or BR player? Using a remote as a keyboard is a pain in the butt. People do it once or twice and give up. Using the ChromeCast (CC) eliminates the remote and lets you do all of the typing on your familiar phone or tablet.
- The ChromeCast picture quality in Netflix is 1080p. It's the first Netflix implementation of 1080p. Picture quality is stunning.
- You want to see Facebook on the big screen? Especially for photos and videos? Just use your laptop.
- What's that? You're in a hotel and want to watch a streaming football game on the Pac-12 network but the hotel doesn't offer it? Whip out your PC and stream the game via CC.
- It only cost me $11
- Open for developers. The possibilities are limited by hardware as opposed to some company's rules and need to keep things closed.
basically, Chromecast is an extension of your phone. (media) things that you want to do on your phone, you can "forward" it to the big screen (aka your TV)
it has a simple interface and little to no learning curve if you know how to use your phone (and these UI are typically better than your smartTV remotes)

only if you discount the netflix cost(i.e. you are already a netflix subscriber paying)
you can't get the deal anymore

Love gear vr but I was hoping to be able to at least download and watch movies that are semi current. At least I thought I could watch Google play movies in vr.
After watching the demos, there's not much else to do (not into games. Just movies which is why I purchased)

Huh? Didn't mean to be an ahole but is downloading movies from certain sites the only way? Is there a plan to have some kind of store. Not judging anyone here just hoping there is a way I can purchase easily lime playstore. I'm paranoid about putting myself at risk for a 7$ movie. Lol

This is why they reiterate that this is for developers and not consumers. There's no reason to be disappointed if you read what it could do right now before buying. The consumer wish list might come true tomorrow, or might not happen for awhile or ever on this edition.

It would be much easier if one of the VR video player supported Ultraviolet DRM (most Blu-ray releases let you download an MP4 with this type of protection).
Until we have that or a native store, you could always pay for the movie, then feel alright with downloading it. If you prevent seeding (by setting an upload cap of 0 perhaps), you're not contributing to others downloading without paying. It's totally a moral gray area, but something you could consider if you're really dedicated to buying movies to watch in VR (in a roundabout way); and definitely something for torrenters to consider now and then (paying for discs or downloads, that is ).
There's probably going to be more free content out there as time goes on, too. It's a small trickle now, but I've been seeing more and more 360 video interest, manufacturers, and content over the past several months.
Finally burned a cd and converted to mp4. Works well but takes too long. I'm not the type to spend 30 mins making a compatible movie.
