Changing MMS Sounds - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do I do that with a cooked Rom? Is there a specific file to rename? If so, what is it and where? I figured out how to change my ringtone, but there is nothing showing SMS sounds.

Put your sound file in windows folder
Then go to settings -> sounds and notifications -> notifications
When you are here, it is simple:
-change MMS sound by selecting "new MMS"
-change SMS sound by selecting "new text message"

Been there, done that...there is nothing there for me to set my SMS sound to unlike my ringtone.

How to change ringtone

hi there, can anyone helpme, i want change the default ringtone for calls and for sms's. Do i have to change something in the registry???
Thanks
Andres
No, go to start--settings--sounds and notifications--notifications--then choose which sound you want to change and change it. If you want to add your own ringtones then transfer it to the phone and find it using the above method...scroll down the list and click to use it.
Next time read the manual...it will tell you how to do certain things.
Settings > Sounds > Advanced
Choose the Notifications tab
Pick the Event - ie 'Messaging - New SMS Alert' and set 'Ring Tone' as you want.
If you have a custom Ringtone, you can simply use File Explorer and find the file... hold the stylus / finger on the file and choose 'Set As Ringtone'
Already did it but ringtones only works for Incoming Calls, not for New SMS
Solved, if you want to change for a custom ringtone for SMS, Email or something different of Phone Call all you have to do is copy and paste the custom ringotne on to c:\windows and then select it from: Settings > Sounds > Notifications tab.
Thanks to all for your support.

Hmm.. Vibrate doesn't apply to messaging?

Hi guys..
I have a question about the profile setting. When I slide the volume key down to "Vibrate" setting, it only applies to calls and not text message for example. I have to go in the advanced menu for "notification" select "New Text Message" and then select "Vibrate".
Is this the only way?? I want that vibrate for calls also applies to messages.
Anyone know a fix for this?
Thanks a lot

[QUESTION] Notification Tone?

Is there a way to add some notification tone for message?
coz i want to have my own tone on messages that i will receive..
is it possible?
I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean a custom notification for received messages? It should be configurable in the default messaging app, but I'm not completely sure since I use handcent SMS which allows you to customize the notification sounds and a bunch of other stuff.

so i must use handcent messaging for me to have my custom tone?
You can create a new folder on your sd card -> DCIM -> media - > audio -> notifications and put your customs notifications in this folder.
You can do the same for your ringtones and alarms by creating new folder on your sd card -> DCIM -> media -> audio -> ringtones and alarms
You will be able to find them in your message app settings.
Hope it helps you
PS : sorry for my bad English

[Q] Set Individual Ringtones to Contacts - WhatsApp issue

After I assign a custom or different stock ringtone to Contact A, the ringtone also gets played when a WhatsApp message is received from that contact. How can I stop this from occurring? Please guide.
Found the answer:
EDIT: go to whatsapp setting -> notifications -> uncheck contact ringtone (use contact's ringtone as notification ringtone)

Notification ringtone will not change

I have changed my notification ringtone in both the Sound settings and the Personalize settings, and it still plays the default tone when I receive a text message, instead of the ringtone I have changed it to and applied. Any thoughts?
Go into the Messaging app, tap the 3-dot menu button & select Settings. Go into Notifications and under Notification sound, select the tone you want. If Default Notification is selected it uses the phone ringtone for calls. At least that's what mine is showing. I don't use the stock messaging app though so I never noticed which tone would actually play.
