Need help finding these apps... - G1 Apps and Games

I updated to Cyanogens 4.something and with it came with a bunch of apps like Log Collector, and one that I really liked. It was another virtual keyboard with QWERTY, Compact QWERTY and T9. Does anyone know what this other key board was? I really want that back I liked it alot better than the stock virtual keyboard. Oh, they all went away because I had some problem where the phone kept reseting it self so I just wiped it and reinstalled Cyanogen-mod.

Touch Input Keyboard
When you go to the text message screen do a long press on the part where you input the text, a pop up should come up stating input method. Select input method, and then select touch input and voila! there you have it.

Duttythroy touch keyboard/HTC touch keyboard

Hi all,
I've finally narrowed down where all my sytem crashes are coming from, and it appears to be my installations of "duttythroy HTC Touch Keyboard" and "HTC Touch Keyboard + Keypad"
Both are installed (HTC one first, then duttythroy), and when I come to type something, the options are there in the pop-up menu ("Touch Keyboard" "Touch Keypad"), however if I select one, the normal keyboard appears and the selected entry jumps back to "Keyboard", so I'm guessing thats because it failed to access/load the touch keyboard?
So I then go to uninstall, and it cannot uninstall either of them, it sits forever with the little spinning icon as it tries to uninstall, eventually failing by either locking the device needing a reset, or by popping up saying it cannot remove the application at this time.
Can anyone provide me manual removal details for this application, I'll need registry, files, etc to remove it as cleanly as I can if possible.
Thanks in advance
I dont know about your system crashes, but the solution to the keyboard and keypad problem is found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271008
Hiya,
Thanks for that but I don't believe thats the actual issue, as its not between resets that it won't permit me to select the touch keyboard, its actually when I manually select the touch keyboard it cancels that and reverts back.
So, I really need to manually clean/uninstall these applications that appear to have become corrupted somewhere along the way.
That is the actual issue with the keyboard, it wont let you select it at all - if you read back through the post linked above it's not aimed at setting a default selection, it's to make it work at all!
I had the same issue, clicked on either and it would just stay on keyboard and so have many others. Installation of SIPchange sorted it. Maybe then you can rule out this being the problem for your system crashes?
Good luck
Software Keyboard (seems fast)
Try FingertouchPRO, the layout is customizable and so is the keyboard height, I was able to make this as big as fullscreen and also little as I liked.
The cab resides on www.fingertouchpro.com , just click the big CAB button.
There is a movie showing this toy in action, the speed (if it's real) is incredible!

Keyboard keeps sticking on number selection

Has anyone else had this. Using the touch diamond qwerty keyboard (not the tiny MS one) I go to enter information and the keyboard is stuck on the number and symbols page. No amount of pressing ABC will switch it back to the text entry mode.
I had had this error on two seperate Daimonds. One with world wide english and now one with the UK rom. It is driving me mad.
I've the same problem with both keyboards (the full one and the compact one). But until now, no solution
Regards,
Flossi
I have purchased the cootek keyboard based on someone elses suggestion. It is hugely better. They have a qwerty one as well as some other faster input ones all part of the package and it was only $12 with free trial.
I have this problem too. To get the keyboard back I have to select the compact qwerty keyboard and then the full qwerty again. But that only works until I have to open the input panel again. It's very frustrating and has only just happened. The last think I did was install the Live Mesh application but I don't see how that could have effected the keyboard like this. Is there a place in the registry where I can set the default settings for the keyboard?
Have you got PCM keyboard installed. Mine only did it when that was installed and as soon as I uninstalled it fixed the other KB's. I have had the same problem on two different phones but only when PCM is installed.
I haven't installed any other keyboards, this just seems to have happened all of a sudden. However I thought I would search for forums again using different keywords and I found this thread;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=412234&highlight=keyboard+stuck
It suggested a registry location where keyboard settings are located, I set them to the values suggested in the thread and so far my keyboard has worked normally. I hoping that it's going to stay that way.
oh right thats weird because it is the same problem I had but it was because of this third party KB. I wonder if there is anything else you have installed that could have affected it. I would try uninstalling a few 3rd party apps and seeing if that fixes it.
If it happens again I'll give that a try, as it is I have my phone just the way I like it.
Thinking back I did make some keyboard changes, it was ages ago so it slipped my mind. I used a registry hack to turn off defaulting to T9 on the keyboard.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2482780&postcount=12
Looking back it makes use of the same registry settings. This could have been the cause, but I made the changes ages ago and the current problem only happened recently. Still, it's fixed now and I'm happy.
Life saver!

You are a fricking life saver (as is studz who originally gave the solution). I thought I was going to have to reflash my ROM. It happened to me after installing the TouchPal SIP. I decided I didn't care of it, so I went back to compact qwerty and suddenly it didn't work! The part that was messed up on mine was HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e001 0409\
"Layout Text" and "Ime File."

Text entry problem

Thought I move the thread to here to see if I will get more help:
Have had the phone for a few weeks and learning lots. All of sudden yesterday when trying to make a calendar entry, the full QWERTY, compact QWERTY, and phone pad can no longer be used to enter text. It's stuck on numeric mode. Tapping the "abc" key on the bottom of the full QWERTY keyboard doesn't change anything. Can still use transcriber and full keyboard for now. BUt when switched to Note program, all entry methods work. Have not installed any new programs lately (besides a few games and new calculator). Have been using S2U2 and Diamond tweaks to help with a few other problems...Help please since this is now my primary calendar and runs my life so need to have this working again!!
I"m using the GSM version with the latest ROM version. The problem also seems to be "periodic" in the sense that everytime I change mode of text entry to something else and back to QWERTY, it lets me enter text, but the moment I change it to numerics, I can't go back unless I change mode of entry again.....Argh.....
I suffer from a similar problem sometimes. Sometimes the keyboard doesn't open at all. I can't type anything. Perhaps it's because of TouchPal, dunno. Gotta reboot the device then ...
Sorry for abusing your thread, but it's a similar problem.7
Have you performed a soft-reset? Did it change anything or have you been suffering from the same problem ... ? Actually a stupid question
Done a soft reset once, and didn't change anything. Like I said it has a mind of its own...when I change the mode of text entry to full keyboard, everything works perfectly so I've been defaulting to that...then when I change from full keyboard to QWERTY, it would bring back the alphabet screen..but the moment I tap the 123 button to change to numeric pad to enter something, I CANNOT go back....I'm unwilling to hard reset for a problem that I have a "work around" on .....hence the post to see if others have similar problem, and HOW THE HECK did it happen???
ya i'm also facing the same problem, but now my COMPACT QWERTY keyboard stopped working completely, it was only taking no's, please suggest solution for this
Thanks in advance
same problem here. a complete reset to factory defaults was the only solution to that problem.
full querty worked normally, but without T9.
compact and phone pad numbers only, equal if i selected ABC or 123. Symbols worked normally

Is it possible to force keyboard choice screen on the NC?

I have installed a Scandinavian keyboard, but since I can't get the keyboard choice screen to appear I can't use it. I do get the screen to appear when I click on a button after installation, but that only shows the standard Android keyboard. I think it's because I need a reboot after installation of the Scandinavian keyboard, but I can't be sure until I find a way to force this screen. On other Android units you can press and hold in a text box to get it or press and hold on the keyboard icon when the keyboard is visible, but none of those work here. I looked for an app to choose keyboard but couldn't find one. Any ideas?
If you have Twitter installed, I've found that you can long press on the text box for writing a new tweet, and get the input method popup.

This method works on the Nook Color?
-CC
Have you tried this app?: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830177
It was made to allow the choice of different keyboards for different orientations, but it'll probably do what you want (kind of). Only negative is that it's an extra process that needs to run, but big deal.
sombody managed to doe in the general discussion by uninstalling the defualt keybord and replacing it with a different one or something...
here's a little app i wrote that allows you to switch soft keyboards

[Q] Disable Shift + Space = Lang on Keyboard dock?

I just bought my Galaxy Tab yesterday, and it's pretty awesome. I also bought the keyboard dock, and it's excellent except for one super annoying problem: If you hit space while holding shift, it changes the language. In my case, it doesn't do anything (Just says ENGLISH on the screen), but it's really annoying to have that pop up every time I type a sentence with caps or punctuation in it.
For example: Typing "WOW! THIS IS AWESOME!" would be easy. You just hold shift while typing the whole sentence. On the tab, at every space it acts as though I have pressed the Lang key on the keyboard. This only happens with the hardware keyboard.
I did some mucking around in system files (/system/usr/keylayout/), and noticed p1_keyboard.kl, but only the actual Lang key is mapped to LANG. When I commented that line out, my Lang key was disabled, but the Space+Shift still "worked" and popped "English" up on my screen. The Freedom Pro drivers have an option to disable shift+space, but the regular samsung keyboard does not. Any idea how to get rid of this incredibly annoying behavior?
Edit: I just noticed that this "feature" is documented in the manual. No way to disable it is mentioned.
Just a quick update: I've contacted Samsung Support via twitter, but they didn't have a galaxy tab available with a keyboard dock. Seriously. Samsung Support didn't have a galaxy tab with external keyboard to even test the issue. I'm trying e-mail next. Frankly, having shift+space change the language when there is a language button RIGHT NEXT TO THE SPACEBAR is insane.
I think I have to make my own solution to this one. Of course, I can't post in the developers section yet, so I can't really ask for help there either. I'm fairly certain that the solution isn't /system/usr/keylayout/p1_keyboard.kl because, while there is a LANG button mapped, disabling it merely disables the actual LANG button on the keyboard. Shift + Space continues to switch the language.
This is literally making me not use the keyboard, because if I type "I", and hold shift a bit too long, ENGLISH shows up on my screen. If I'm typing a sentence with lots of caps or acronyms, ENGLISH is on the screen pretty much the entire time because I'm holding shift. Any help at all would be appreciated.

Did you by chance get any answers to this issue? I am having the same issue and it's driving me nuts. Almost every sentence that I write I have to backspace and start over.
Hey everyone, I came across this post while searching for a way to disable the SHIFT+SPACE keyboard shortcut (Stupid!).
So, while it's default in Samsung Keyboard, other keyboards allow other options. I installed "Google keyboard", and now everything works great, and I don't have the annoying popup everytime I hold shift too long before a space!
Hello, I'm resurrecting this thread because shift space is still an issue in Samsung Keyboard. Gboard (what Google Keyboard is called now) solved this problem for me, too. -- Ronald Althenn, former Samsung call center analyst
I've installed GBoard, but Samsung Keyboard shortcuts still work. When I look at keyboard setting for my physical keyboard, I can see that both keyboard layouts (GBoard & Samsung) are present. I can't seem to find a way to force my device (Note 8) to only use GBoard layout.
Thoughts?
Sorry for the late reply. I dropped my phone recently and started having that same issue. Even with gboard installed, I am never going to need to change my language using shift space, ever, and yet even when I'm using sidesync just so I can see my screen, English pops up all the time and eats up my space. I am trying to find other ways of fixing this. I will post again soon.
---------- Post added at 02:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:27 PM ----------
Okay, I think I've got it. When there is an external keyboard attached in sidesync, you must use the Select Keyboard notification and choose Gboard. This is where the proper command hooks get installed. Shift space comes out as a space when I type using gboard. If you have a "Select External Keyboard" notification, don't change it there, because shift space still popped up English for me until I used the first notification.
This is insanely complicated, I know. I wish I was a Samsung dev; I'd submit a change to fix that. I'll have a job soon, I hope.

This issue is now more annoying than ever thanks to DeX forcing you to use the Samsung Keyboard.
You can manually disable the Samsung Keyboard via ADB, but doing so results in either:
* phone screen waking/blurring whenever clicking into a type field in DeX
* DeX hard crashing and requiring a wipe of app data via ADB if you try to force the on-screen keyboard in DeX from "phone" to "monitor" while Samsung Keyboard is disabled
Keep reporting this crap to Samsung until they at the very least add a simple toggle to disable the shift-space "feature."
OMG I HATE this stupid thing!!!!!!!!!! so much, I don't understand, if ctrl+space is switching lang already, wtf do you put something like shift (very common)! I HATE this so much to the degree I might retrun the whole thing
Finally they've changed that stupid thing. Now you can go Settings->General Management->Language and Input->Physical keyboard->Change language shortcut
Using a bluetooth keyboard with my S10+. I disabled the toggle you mention here, but shift+space still does nothing (literally nothing too, it doesn't say "English" or anything like that on screen when I push it).
My primary touch keyboard is G-Board as well.
