Hi all,
I've finally narrowed down where all my sytem crashes are coming from, and it appears to be my installations of "duttythroy HTC Touch Keyboard" and "HTC Touch Keyboard + Keypad"
Both are installed (HTC one first, then duttythroy), and when I come to type something, the options are there in the pop-up menu ("Touch Keyboard" "Touch Keypad"), however if I select one, the normal keyboard appears and the selected entry jumps back to "Keyboard", so I'm guessing thats because it failed to access/load the touch keyboard?
So I then go to uninstall, and it cannot uninstall either of them, it sits forever with the little spinning icon as it tries to uninstall, eventually failing by either locking the device needing a reset, or by popping up saying it cannot remove the application at this time.
Can anyone provide me manual removal details for this application, I'll need registry, files, etc to remove it as cleanly as I can if possible.
Thanks in advance
I dont know about your system crashes, but the solution to the keyboard and keypad problem is found here:

Hiya,
Thanks for that but I don't believe thats the actual issue, as its not between resets that it won't permit me to select the touch keyboard, its actually when I manually select the touch keyboard it cancels that and reverts back.
So, I really need to manually clean/uninstall these applications that appear to have become corrupted somewhere along the way.
That is the actual issue with the keyboard, it wont let you select it at all - if you read back through the post linked above it's not aimed at setting a default selection, it's to make it work at all!
I had the same issue, clicked on either and it would just stay on keyboard and so have many others. Installation of SIPchange sorted it. Maybe then you can rule out this being the problem for your system crashes?
Good luck
Software Keyboard (seems fast)
Try FingertouchPRO, the layout is customizable and so is the keyboard height, I was able to make this as big as fullscreen and also little as I liked.
The cab resides on www.fingertouchpro.com , just click the big CAB button.
There is a movie showing this toy in action, the speed (if it's real) is incredible!

Hey Guys,
Few Keyboard questions:
1) How do you set PCM Keyboard as a default keyboard to pop up.
2) How do you disable PCM Keyboard from poping up when you have the Kaiser in the slid open position (actual keyboard exposed)?
Thanks
Dmitriy
1-Search for sipchanger.cab, it allows setting the default keyboard, even thru a soft reset.
2-don't know
#2- you have to turn ClearType off in landscape mode. You probably did a tweak that turned that on.
Save you the trouble of searching. I use PocketCM Keyboard too and when i start typing on the qwerty keyboard, PocketCM just hides away on it's own.

I do have it off. I use KaiserTweak and its off by Default
Am I logical when I feel that there is almost no need to install a whole program to set for example PocketCM as my default CM when just tapping PCM on the popup menu is enough, at least till the next restart.
Installing another program is just something I have to worry about that may need either updating, takes up memory, may get corrupt, adds weight.

Nope, your logic is sound. I weigh the size of the app's memory footprint and the benifit it provides. Sip Changer is tiny and seems invisible and does a great job of keeping the keyboard you want always correct even after a reset. So I merrily add these great little apps till I kill the phone, then start over But in reality I've got a first run TyTN II and have yet to need a hard reset and I have several "must have" apps running without issue.
It's a Pocket PC and as such is made to be tweaked and far as I know, this is a forum of tweakers for tweakers.
Hi have upgraded my orange tytn ii over the weekend but i am having a few issues. Used the official wwe htc rom.
When i go to send a message and open the keyboard the menu is blank. Yet if i close the keyboard, the menu is there.
Also when entering the text the suggested word box is either blank or comes up in japenense or chinese. Again when i close the keyboard the words are in english?!!
The on screen keyboard is also different to the 6.0 build. The numbers are no longer present across the top. Is there any way of reverting back to this.
So far i'm not that impressed, i'm thinking of reverting back.
Any help would be great.

U need to disable cleratype in landscape. U can do it in KaiserTweak or Advanced Config Tool.
U can istall another keyboard, just find the one u want and install it.
"press OK to continue loading the contents of this page"
Is there an official, supported, safe way of going back? For now I am not recommending the upgrade:
I installed it on my TyTN II. Not good. Several problems, most seem related to Pocket Internet Explorer, an intermittent "press OK to continue loading the contents of this page" message pops up when loading some pages and when opening some email messages in the built in messaging client.
Sometimes the device enters a state in which it stops responding every few seconds, with a window of about two seconds of responsiveness. When this happens, control of the device can be regained by using a program like FdcSoft Task Manager (TaskMgr.exe) to kill PIE.
There is some difficulty in switching the phone from automatic WCDMA/GSM to GSM only, the phone setting application seems to hang.
I tried using PIEPlus to disable scripting and KaiserTweak to turn off threaded SMS thinking that it might help, but the "press ok" bug persists.
Googling around this problem seems to have popped up (pun intended) previously, well... years ago. Scary.
If anybody has found solutions to this issue please post. Thank You.

What do u mean by that?
About the screen freezes: did u install the latest spl?
"press ok to continue" SOLVED
I meant reverting to 6.0.
SPL? No. I just used the official download from HTC to upgrade the stock 6.0 that came with my Kaiser to 6.1
Anyway, I found what seems to be the solution for the annoying "press ok to continue" problem. Using a registry editor, navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main and make sure BlockStaticActiveX is set to zero.
And after hard resetting the device and a full reinstall the lock-up naver came back. Very strange.
So in general I am doing good now with 6.1, except for the same garbled text problem if I slide open the keyboard when Pocket Internet Explorer has the cursor in a text field.
Hi folks,
I have gathered a few questions you might be able to help me with.
Using: O2 XDA Diamond, Olinex 2.4 unsigned, Radio 1.09.25.23, Panosha Simple 1.1, the usual tweaks
1)
GSen. It might be useful to some, but I just don't need this flipping anytime I move the device. I renamed the gsen.exe to prevent it from being loaded on startup. This works, but I get a nasty error message, of course. That doesn't bother me, but I'd still like to know if there's a more elegant solution to this, like a registry entry disabling GSen altogether.
2)
Is there a way to make pressing the little "cross" button (top right corner in most apps) close applications instead of minimizing it? To finally kill a program I have to use the task manager. Any idea how to add a little more power to this button?
3)
About composing messages: Entering a name in a new message used to make the corresponding contact entries popup in formerly used ROMs. That's no more. I now have to open the adress book, choose a contact and select "Send Text Message". How can I get the lost feature back?
Regards,
ziphi
Not sure about 1 & 3, but for 2 unless it's been altered in the ROM your using, goto Start>Settings>System>Task Manager>Button, you can change the action the small cross does.
Thanks,
but this seems to have been changed in Panoshas ROM, there's no "task manager" option in the settings.
Anyone else got an idea?
Managed to solve problem No. 1)
Deleted shortcut file for GSen in /windows/startup/
Problem No. 3 is what disturbs me the most, now. Any ideas?
My phone crashed so I had to perform a hard reset.
After that I tried to reinstall everything that I earlier had in my phone but when I try to install Skandinavisk_ppc_tastatur.exe, the installation goes really well but when I restart my phone the HTC logo will appear and after that the whole phone freezes = won't boot to "Windows 6.1" screen.
I've now performed head reset twice because of that problem but I really would like to restore that Scandinavian on screen keyboard to my phone.
Any hints how to solve the problem? Any other freeware on screen Scandinavian keyboards that would do the trick without "freezing" my phone?
Any help is highly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
i'm not 100% sure, but you might find luck with a little utility called "SIPChange". search for it and download it.
install SIPChange and then install your keyboard. DO NOT LET THE KEYBOARD INSTALLER SOFT RESET YOUR DEVICE!
goto Settings->Personal->Input and make sure the MS keyboard is set as the default keyboard.
now start SIPChange and set it to change your keyboard to the desired keyboard after a safe timeout. now you can soft reset your device and see if things get better. the expected outcome is:
a. your device should boot completely.
b. your preferred keyboard will popup when needed as if it is set as the default keyboard.
the idea is as follows. there are certain keyboards that you would like to have as default keyboards. these same keyboards often cause boot problems if they are set as default. what SIPChange does is that it leaves the regular MS keyboard as default when your phone boots up. after 30 or 60 seconds into the boot up, SIPChange will set the keyboard of your choice as default.
i'm not 100% sure about what i just wrote but its something off the top of my head that might help. good luck.
I have installed a Scandinavian keyboard, but since I can't get the keyboard choice screen to appear I can't use it. I do get the screen to appear when I click on a button after installation, but that only shows the standard Android keyboard. I think it's because I need a reboot after installation of the Scandinavian keyboard, but I can't be sure until I find a way to force this screen. On other Android units you can press and hold in a text box to get it or press and hold on the keyboard icon when the keyboard is visible, but none of those work here. I looked for an app to choose keyboard but couldn't find one. Any ideas?
If you have Twitter installed, I've found that you can long press on the text box for writing a new tweet, and get the input method popup.

This method works on the Nook Color?

Have you tried this app?: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=830177
It was made to allow the choice of different keyboards for different orientations, but it'll probably do what you want (kind of). Only negative is that it's an extra process that needs to run, but big deal.
sombody managed to doe in the general discussion by uninstalling the defualt keybord and replacing it with a different one or something...
here's a little app i wrote that allows you to switch soft keyboards
