How hard is app creation? - Hero, G2 Touch Themes and Apps

Ive seen apps for the iphone that I think are quite good and want on the HERO. the waitrose shopping app looks great. wondered how hard it would be to get an app that would access tesco or what have you and allow you to shop?
I could do my grocery shopping on my commute home - be a sweet use of my downtime.

Amazon launches cloud music service 5GB Free

Pretty freaking awesome especially if you already have an amazon account. Important to first enable it thru your account and then install or update the app on your phone

Also if you purchase 1 mp3 album from them they will automatically upgrade your 5GB to 20GB for free for one year. And songs purchased from them don't count towards your data allotment. I bought an album that was 3.99 and got upgraded instantly.

As usual Australia gets shafted
im all over this. thanks for the heads up
Yeah this could be pretty cool. I love Pandora, but there are plenty of times I want to control what I listen to. I can fit an "ok" amount of music in the 5GB. Pretty good idea to buy an album for the 20GB. Still will not come close to holding all of my music, but good enough for the road.
I think I'll stick with serving up my own collection with Audio Galaxy. Good find on the one year 20G deal, though.

so after I opened up amazon mp3 and looked at the top albums, I noticed there was a cheap one for some glee song, I figured I get it to see it if it would give me the 20gbs. so I picked one my wife would like, and for a $1.39 or whatever it cost for the 1 song album I got the 20gb drive.
yeah I bought the top selling .69 song and got the one year free trial too

+1 for AudioGalaxy, my (relatively small) music collection is 12 GB, so it won't fit on Amazon's 5 GB free solution. But, there is no need for Amazon Cloud - with AG, I can stream my entire music collection from my computer to any other computer, my phone, my G-Tab, etc. Without having to upload it all to a server. For free! AG rules!
Got this couple of days ago and am loving it

But does that mean you have to leave your computer on all the time to use AudioGalaxy?
I'm mainly thinking when I'm traveling this would be good. But then again, why wouldn't I just have an mp3 player with me? I'm mainly thinking of using this as storage ala drop box. Just one more place to store stuff. And maybe my "emergency" playlist.

Yeah the computer has to be on, that's true, but I leave it on all the time anyway.
Be very careful WHICH mp3 files you upload to this service.
By using it, you have agreed to allow Amazon to inspect, analyze and report to the authorities what music you have.
In other words, unless you bought the music from Amazon, be prepared to prove you own it. In court possibly. That would be federal court, btw.

Are you just speculating or have you actually heard of someone getting tagged?
yeah they need to inspect it to be able to add the tags and cd cover for the player.

Not sure bout your country but here we have prepaid visa, you go buy one with a certain amount on it and use it like a normal visa, we also have visa debit, which can be attched like a normal account that uses your funds but uses the visa network to process payments.
I am sure there will be some kind of solution for you. Some carriers also allow purchasing on your phone bill.

Guitar Hero 5 Free on Amazon Appstore Today!

At market price of $8, it's a pretty good chance to save some money!
Just thought I would give everyone a heads-up.
It requires you to have an Amazon account with a payment option, but it doesn't actually push through any money. They have a free app that usually costs every day, but this is the first time I've seen anything over $4 listed as free.
Check it out if you don't already use Amazon AppStore.
EDIT: Not the best game in the world, but hey, it's $8 saved!
Like I always say to my wife... It's only a savings if you were going to buy it anyway!
does it actually play well and fullscreen on the xoom?
I would love Rock Band to work, like I had it on my Evo, but it's never worked right...so I didn't even try GH.
any comments welcome!

No its not compatible. It takes up about a fifth of the screen and the game is just not up to par, even if it were high Res.

Do you think about Call of Duty map pack pricing?

Article here: http://www.callofdutymappacks.com/news/the-price-is-right/ We have just gotten to the stage (or more xbox 360 uses have) where if they purchased all map packs, you'd have spent more money on the map packs than the game itself for Black Ops. Have a read! What do you think, is it too much?

I hadn't played Black Ops for a loooooooooooong time, and started playing again last weekend. I knew there had been map packs, but hadn't paid any attention to them, but when I had a look I was shocked at the price. I think they're WAY too pricey. I got the game for about £35, so it was relatively cheap for release day, but all the maps will total near on £33, so yeah. It's like buying another game!
I'm not buying them - simple as that. They'll drop the price and sell them as a bundle at some point, probably for about £20. I'll wait for that. Besides, I'm a noob all over again and I'm getting slaughtered! I need to learn to play it again before learning to play new maps
Definitely way over priced.

I haven't bought any of them and don't plan to. The new COD will be out soon enough. Also the new pack that just came out is only zombies.
I never bought them. Higher priories then map packs
Please lengthen your message to at least 10 charters
If your an avid COD player you will end up drinking the Cool-Aid just to be able to stay in the game. If you don't purchase them - you will end up being in less and less lobbies.
Its extortion sure - but I like the new maps. I do wish they were $9.99 instead of the $15.99 - or get at least more content for the price.
And.. by the time they introduce lower pricing the community will have moved on to the next installation of COD: Steal Your Soul edition leaving the old ones in the dust.
I try not to think about the money... the movies nowadays are $9.99 a ticket, a Blue Ray is $24.99, and even a new hardcover book is more expensive.
For me its a decent price vs. value thing.
Im just waiting for my maps to download, i wasnt going to download them but all my mates have who play online. Yea they cost way to much, it should be a one of price for all downloadable content.
Once MW3 comes out they should drop to an almost reasonable price but who will be playing at that time?

Google Play Music in the UK and Europe & Linux Music Manager

Just hit the UK and Europe and it's pretty awesome, it has a lot of offer and since I usually illegally download my music, I no longer have to (I refuse to use iTunes, I know there are alternatives). This is great news and its about time too. What do my fellow Europeans think? Pricing is also more competitive than I imagined. Good job Google :good:
Note you can't buy anything yet but you can browse and see the pricing.
One other awesome thing to know, the Music Manager is now available on Linux!

I've been using it for a while, just hadn't had the ability to browse the store and buy stuff.
Single tracks look a bit expensive compared to the cost of the full album but I like the look of the album prices.
Similar artists had some weird suggestions, I eventually had it giving g Mark Owen>Debbie Harry>Victoria Beckham. Still a nice feature even if it did recommend Victoria Beckham.

I've been comparing Play Music to iTunes and Googles offering is much cheaper.
Single tracks on both iTunes and Play Music average at about £0.79 to £0.99 with the occasional iTunes song dipping to to £0.59 and peaking at £1.89. This is from what I've seen so far. Play Music is a lot more consistent.
Albums seem to be cheaper on Google Play, most of the albums I have checked seem to be about £1 to £2 cheaper. That's a huge saving if you by a lot of music. I anticipate to spend at least a hundred quid over the next week, buying all the music I pirated.
Wasn't play music supposed to release in Canada as well as Europe?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Google said Canada and Australia are coming later this year or early 2013.
I like it. Prices are ok, and encourage album sales, and play store is nice to browse.
Was expecting it it be 'meh'. May have to get Floyd dsom first as is just rude to buy anything else before it.

Have you compared to Amazon MP3? For the sort of music I buy amazon is consistently cheaper and offers the same cloud playback functionality and tune matching (although you have to pay £20 a year for a lot of tune matching).
Another potential benefit of buying from Amazon is you can download the tracks, then upload them to Google Music and enjoy the (more reliable) cloud streaming
Yay finally they release it to the UK.
With regards to your Amazon questions, Amazon sells tracks cheaper however buying the whole album is usually about £0.50 - £1.00 cheaper from Play Music.
I think it does depend on the sort of thing you buy, every album I looked at was cheaper on amazon also but I guess we might have different tastes!
Worth shopping around either way, they both support matching music so can just upload to your cloud streamer of choice.

Yes and I think a price matching script would be in order from someone.
I have a problem with the new UK service, suspect its down to my account being previously activating via proxy to allow me to access my music account and upload music for streaming some months before the service went live here in the UK. I cannot now purchase anything from the site, it takes me from the UK site in £GBP to the US site to complete the transaction in US$ and then won't accept my UK credit card or UK activated Google Wallet balance.
I've contacted Google support and their answer today is that "I must be a US customer to buy music..." clearly the support agent doesn't know his arse from his elbow
Anyone else got this issue and worked out how to solve it? I've got over 5000 tracks uploaded and so would not want to lose them if I had to create a new account.
Would also add... I'm not getting the 'music match' service... music is still being uploaded track by track (music manager version 1.0.51.1573)... only 17k tracks to go to my limit!!

OK so I fixed this - turns out my US credit card had been changed to default somehow?
Still not seeing the 'Music Match' service - has anyone got this working?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Been looking for that.. a lot of the mp3s I have are a bit ropey and music match is ideal for sprucing them up. I can only find the standard upload service.
Is anyone else having issues launching the Music Manager app on OSX? It doesn't do anything...
South America??
