This is technically an apps related question, but i figured that the cooks may no the answer. Is windows marketplace for mobile going to work on all devices that run 6.5, for example t-mobiles touch pro 2, or ONLY for devices that are officially supported for a 6.5 upgrade (at this point the t-mobile version isnt).
Thanks to those that can help.
All device!!!
Windows Marketplace is a service, it isn't a feature of the new OS....
may ,in future, be issued to install the program anywhere!

Does anyone have a link for this download? I have the new AT&T Tilt working with BB Connect, but cannot find the download to the BlackBerry Application Suite for Windows Mobile 6.
Don't think the app suite is released as of yet.
Why would you want blackberry suite?
As mentioned above, the Blackberry Application Suite does not exist. Its never been released. not sure if it ever will be.
But if you are looking for Blakcberry Connect for WM, that does exist. See my post on this thread. And in the future, you might try searching some.

HI, I have been battling with BBC against to our BES due to policies and I heard from a very reliable source that the product will be ready for our deployment Q32008... So its is coming and I think will support the encryption etc and will be support friendlier since the interface is a propiraty BB interface. Plus, there aren't many security risks around virus etc since it will be a virtaul application suite that supports any BB application and doesn't integrate to VM mail client etc.... So, you can have your WM as a standalone OS once you minimize the BAS... These are great benefits for enterprise adoption and really simplifies the risks around the device support when compared to BBC running on any WM device (or symbian etc)...
as of 2009, it hasnt been released. At least its been showcased and that bring a hope for it to be soon.
it been 2 years since when RIM Compeny said they gonna release it but they haven't released it yet!
its a vaporware.. playing on our patience...
it would make WM so much more powerful... and blackberry so much more popular... when will the two organisations ever realise it?
Here you go (for the Touch Pro): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=626456
Upgrading to Windows Mobile 6.5: We know of a few phones that will be upgradable from 6.1 to 6.5, and Microsoft is clarifying this position a little. Mainly in that if they meet a minimum hardware standard — 128MB RAM, 400 MHz processor — they may be available for an upgrade. But that's still up to the partners (read: Manufacturers/carriers) to choose to do so.

It would be AWESOME if we can upgrade to windows mobile 6.5, and so be able to use marketplace. We need 128MB RAM and 400MHZ processor, which means our Diamond should be suitable for 6.5!
Doubt it, but unofficially; yes we will get 6.5 on our phones. But we will not thank HTC for that.
Well yes, ofcourse we will be able to receive 6.5.
But i hope HTC will make it official for Diamond users. But i dont think that will happen...
I hope so too, but let's be honest: if it wasn't for the good folks here at xda-devs, our phones would be pretty mediocre. So I don't see it happening officially. But I'd be very happy to be proven wrong.
The Touch Diamond does not conform to the WM 6.5 specs, HTC are not allowed to release it for the Diamond.
Perhaps we should start an online petition to get HTC to bring WM6.5 to the Touch Diamond officially.
Windows Mobile 6.5 MIGHT be available for Diamond!
Yes it will be.. but some advanced featured will be unavailable..

which features do you mean?
I thought no hardware Start key = No WM 6.5?
Funny that the previous generation phones had hardware Start/OK then they stopped putting them on after the iPhone came out.

It is handy to have the Start Key but that is not a showstopper. Having said that I do miss the many hardware buttons that were available back in the days of Hermes.
I believe the MS home key is required to allow htc to put wm6.5 on their devices. So I don't think there will be any official upgrade for the diamond or any phone that doesn't have this key. Also MS wants to change the name 'smartphone' to windows mobile phone :S Don't think this applies to the Diamond though but still..
What I'm still wondering is if tf3d2 will be available on the HTC update of wm6.5 on the diamond2..
this would be awesome to have 6.5 on my phone

I heard this too, but then practically no phones would be able to upgrade, and wouldn't the dude in the quote at the start have mentioned that?
Diamond and WM 6.5
I think any hardware key can be set as Windows Key, it's simply a software setting; it needs only mapping it in the ROM.
The new phones is coming with full touch screen, Microsoft is very stupid to pretend a special hardware key!!!!!

Hi gurus,
I'm using a software (designed for my company) working only with netcf1.0. So i cannot use it on Wm6.1.
I have made tests and this software works well only on WM6.0 and less.
So to avoid compilation cost and time, i wish to cook a custom rom like this.
Download kaiser WM6.0 rom : important --> i dont think a WM6.0 jade rom exist
Download Jade WM6.1 rom
replace kaiser drivers with jade drivers
rebuild rom and pray
do you think this can work ?
i know, its a risky business to play with fire
waiting for your opinion about the feasibility of this process
thank you in advance for all your reliable help and feedback
from a developer's point of view:
why not going to get an update of the desired app?
it's quite difficult these days to get 6.0 devices.
NETCF V2 supports NETCF V1 applications with high degree of compatibility.
if it's a clean programmed app, there should be not more to do, than taking the vs2003 project, convert it to a vs2005 project, and run the 2.0 compiler.
I'd rather ask the app's developer for update-costs, than hunting for a ROM with limited functionality (but even more bugs).
ME TOO
I have the same problem with a piece of software for our field engineers, we are a sub contractor and have no control over the software developer. What i have found however is many 6.5 cooked roms work ok
Is there such a thing as an original ROM from Microsoft? Would this work on the T2 or would I still need to load drivers and other items to get it to work on AT&T 3G?
6.5.5 or any other similar branch hasn't RTMed from what I know yet. These branches will end up as WM6.6 (WP6.6).
And they are mostly for capacitive touchscren phones, not for our resistive.
Thanks for the reply. Let me re-ask. Where can I find a virgin 6.5.whatever ROM that is close to the base OS from Microsoft before the chefs add their touches? Honestly, I am minimilist and I want to run Titanium with the built in IE and not much else.
Looking at all the ROMs, even the default from HTC, I cannot tell you what is native Windows Mobile and what has been cooked in.
Thanks for your help.
You're gonna have to cook
Get latest build from MS here at Chef Central in huge "Last SYS" thread and dump some stock ROM (2.07) to get drivers. Don't forget to add the base OEM packages as well, like Camera, SensorSDK etc, otherwise most of the stuff like GSensor, ... won't work

This is as close as you'll find.

There are a number of stock ROMs in this forum, do a search. However all of these were designed for a specific carrier, and will have the carrier bloatware. MS does not sell their OS directly to the public, so you have to use what the carrier or HTC puts on there.
Actually, it is very simple to remove sense from a stock ROM and rebuild it. Check out the kitchen software programs. The difficult thing about building your own ROM is trying to ADD stuff - that gets complicated.
Is there any way to install windows mobile 6.5 on HTC HD7?
WP7 has not many classic windows features and is not realy windows like as we used many years ago. As I read, incoming updates will not contain basic windows components and it is wasting time to waiting updates.

If you wanna change ur device on mine I have an HD2... wanna trade?!
What is this answers like NO and BUY some other models. If you haven't answer than you don't posting like this.
If I knew that WP7 is not avdanced continuation (as expected) of WM 6.5 I didn't buy this phone altought has great thechnical specifications.
I read this forums and I saw I'm not alone affected by this problem.
I am familiar with pocket PC and using it many years ago. Now I have not file explorer, bluetooth file transfer, task manager, cannot create folder, download files from internet and save where you want. There are no software tool for digital compass even it is exist in technical specifications.
I just ask for solution without these limitations.

And when did MS say that any of these features were gonna be available in wp7???
yet another person who didn't do his homework, then doesn't understand when he gets flamed for it...
Unfortunately there isn't a solution. IMO i think the features you require will become available via apps before anybody ports wm6.5 over.
How come you didn't research the phone before buying may I ask? It's been well known since long before release throughout the XDA community that WP7 is definately not a continuation of WM6.5, i'm surprised you didn't know.
