ok im holdig out on getting the iphone as someone on here told me last week that flash is being incorporated onto android
what are we going to see in benefit terms of flash being available ?
i think it will be mostly be web browsing .so many sites req flash players .so hopefully soon we will have it .
so were not looking at any leaps in apps or games ?
sure some good flash games could be made, why not anything is possible, but it will probably take a little bit. xbox 360=games. g1=hacking/modding. iphone=fail.

Would this game be possible for the G1, assuming you have a rooted phone with multi touch? Just curious cause I love DDR and its a fun addicting game with great music

In all seriousness: Stepmania is open source, so it COULD be ported. It would be a lot of work though, since you'd be using the android sdk instead of c.

I looked it up awhile ago that Tap Tap might make an application for the G1 as long as its demand is high enough.
There's the Guitar Hero app that came out when the paid apps were released, however, there are few songs and it's pretty buggy. I'm just going to wait for that one to (hopefully) get released.

all Android will get flash 10 by the end of the year.
its currently in development by adobe. they have said that theyre hoping to release it this winter.

yeah i believe it's flash 9 right now. doesnt work on all pages yet but better than nothing.

its not the best but it good enough for now...... it can load most pages that have flash, but its flash heavy site u will have hard time interacting with that page.
Its been asked quite a few times so hopefully searches will point to this thread in the future. As kusotare has mentioned, Adobe are working on it and even made parts of Flash open source for others to work on it.
Hero has it but its only Flash 9 but soon enough (most likely on better hardware) there will be much better flash support in terms of speed and usability.
Is it just me but i rilly don't care about flash on my phone.

since the rogers rom has a lot of htc framework in it will the hero browser be able to work on it?

Just try loccy's better browser in the dev forum, it's quite similar except it doesn't have flash, which is flash 9 which doesn't allow you to watch **** except some flash ads, must sites, almost all sites require flash 10 so you can't watch from anywheres like hulu

Hey guys, just wondering what the best 2.1 hero rom is for my G1. I am looking forward to using the flash player.

To tell you the truth, I don't feel like reading every change log on all the roms to see what features there are. I just wanted to see what rom someone might recommend. Wasn't really trying to find the best rom. And on Flash Player, yeah I know its not the best, I just wanted to show off to my friends
also, could I ask if I will find more success with a Desire rom than a Hero rom?
No. The Desire is 2 times larger then the G1 it's impossible.

You don't have to read the change log from every rom, only the few that say hero/desire/eris (of which there are less than a handful).
If they are impressed by 15fps web games...
I don't mean to drag your topic down, but this keeps getting asked over and over again, when all you need to do is look and try a few roms on your own.

I wish people would take this to heart.
I just got my first smart phone lol and its I guess the newest version seeing as I bought it new today and none of the jailbreak guides are working I would enable debug and open the bat file and it would say failed.........can anyone tell me how to check my version and where to find a guide for that version.

Please make sure you know what you are doing before you end up with a brick. First there is no jailbreaking in android. Second you can find what you are looking for under settings about phone. And dont assume it is the newest version cause you bought it today. Alot of the device being sold still have 2.1 on them and not 2.2. So do yourself a favor and save some grey hairs and do a few hours of research before you do anything.

Im honestly as noob as it gets with this never jail broken/unlocked a smart phone before so Im running in circles on what I need to do....Cant you get free apps once its unlocked? and get things like Zelda Ocarina of Time for the DS etc.....thats mainly why Im wanting to do it and I've seen some people with downloadable background and icon skins I'd like to do that too basically make it look flashy? I know it sounds dumb and I'm probly gonna get flamed but none of these guides have worked for me

So what are you trying to do? Root your phone? alot of the android apps a free. There are plenty of emulators for games, never use them myself but they are out there

Well I was under the impression if you unlocked your android all apps would be free, I mainly want a emulator yes to play games like Pokemon and such and if I can Ocarina of time, but another thing I wanna do is get a snazzy looking layout on my phone I've seen alot of different types I assume its to do with computer to phone and what not
and I have a 2.2

No not all apps are free. Even if you root it the apps will still cost depending on the apps. I am not sure of the games that you can get as like i said I dont play games on it. As for the themes they are mostly for custom roms and few will work on a stock rom.
Once again before you do anything head over to the dev section and read up or you will end up with a paper weight.
The problem here is that you cannot jailbreak your phone.

He is right. Jailbreaking doesnt appy here. What you need to do is root and enable non market apps.
There's no ds emulator, only gba, ps1, snes, etc, but no n64. Also we don't talk about getting paid apps for "free" here since its...illegal :0. 2.2 is "froyo". We pretty much call it "rooting" and not jailbreaking. Once you root your captivate, you can install custom roms and you can make your homescreen flashy without having to even root it if you want. Android is wayyyy more customizable than iphone(sounds like you are coming from that)

The community here is helpful lol thanks for everyone pointing these things out for me, I apoligize for my noobness again but I read how to install custom ROMs but titanium backup wont even run on my phone it errors.... how can I remove the other unlock app I tried and didnt work either? I definately atleast wanna root my phone and worry about getting a gba emulator later on, so we know its froyo?

The reason it wont work is because you dont have root. Here is a link to some reading. I implore you toread up. If you go to fast you are gonna be real mad when your phone wont even boot up anymore. if it is 2.2 then yes it is froyo.

Start here.
Go to settings-> about phone and look at the "firmware version" if its 2.1 then its "eclair", if its 2.2 then its "froyo". 2.3 is "gingerbread" and you don't have to worry about 2.3 until after your more acquainted with this whole rooting business.(don't try getting gingerbread right now)

yeah its froyo and Im trying to do the super one click, but everytime I plug my phone in it looks for something to install to my pc but it came with nothing =/

thats what I dont get how to do I got nothing to install anything with and I clicked the recommended setting my vista gave me and it couldnt find anything
And yes I read what you gave me I went to the new captivate users link and Im taking it slow I just wanna get it rooted and the drivers on so I can put music and get more accessibility with the phone

Can I ask why exactly you want to root? Or do just want to lol
Just asking because some of the things you want can just work without having to root, just remember rooting voids your warranty.
