Hello Guys, I was trying to figure first of all what's the different between HTC Dream Build number DRC83 from all the others, because I didn't find any procedure how to become root with that build number, can anyone give me a brief if this is possible ? and if there's any different between that build version from all the others?
Thanks,
I've been having the same question running through my mind lately, and I don't want to get doubtful just yet. :] so if any one does know about this subject, I'm sure their are other members like us that are in need of an answere to this question.

Hello,
First post and allready asking stuff.
I'm starting on making themes and although I have read a lot of stuff I can't get it.
Major questions:
- Do I need to have a custom rom to make themes? Can I install a theme on a standard, factory clean android magic?
- What are those RC33, Rc30, etc... And how do I know what do I have?
At the moment I have a stock HTC magic 32A. The only non standard thing in it, is it's rooted.
The build number only says: CL#33743 (no RC stuff...).
Any help would be appreciate.
take a look at this thread...

Hey smurf... thnks for the answer.
I've allready readed that post (and most of the links in it), and still got the same questions.
They only talk about G1/dream and all those RCXX... The problem my magic says CL#33743. Am I missing something here? Do I need to install a RCXX image?

afaik you have to be rooted to install themes, an exception is when you are using a home replacement.
RC stands for Release Candidate and its just a version numbering thing i guess...
Hello again...
Yeah, I tried instead of just asking.
After a few more reading I realise I was making some confusion. I have a rooted phone so I just adb pull the files I needed to theme (framework-res, htclauncher, etc...) changed the drwable files and adb push them again
It's kinda of what a update.zip does but with more files. Nothing better that trying
Now I just don't know why some people ressign apk's, but I guess a little more reading will fix that too.
Thnaks for your help smurf.
Hi I'm a newbie.
Just wanted to see if I can upgrademy ROM to WM6.5?
I have search a lot and dont' seem to be able to find a thread that I understand.
Been also looking at threads on how to fix my CallerID problem. The HTC support download doesn't support my ROM version.
If someone can help me it'll be great!!

Please READ HERE, that's where all the answers are, and keep in mind that only ROMS made for TOPAZ/Diamond2 can be flashed
Or the saffest way is to go HTCSUPPORT, insert your Serial Number and get the Official ROM to your device, read your Manual also
Hi All
I have a Tmob G1, firmware 1.5, baseband 62.505.20.17U_2_22.19.26I, kernal2.6.27-00392-g931baf [email protected] #1, build number crb43. I have a 1GB sd card.
I am looking to maybe run the a Hero/Touch/sense?.android 2 on it, but am REALLY confused about what is what.
Honestly - I have tried looking at the forums, googling, etc, but there is so much stuff out there that I cannot see the wood for the trees.
Can any one either let me know what I have to do to run the latest stuff, or at least point me to a link where I can get that information?
Thanks in advance...
Well there are lot's of good rom's out there, it might seem overwhelming at first but the dream android development section would be the best place to start, it is recommended you have atleast a class 6 SD card otherwise the hero rom's will be running very slowly, you could always try out cyanogen, it isn't hero but I love it. I recommend you do a lot of reading before you start out, as you could brick your device, if you didn't know this already. Just read, and read some more when you find a rom that fit's what you want and like what you see make sure you follow the guide to the T. Most of the threads in the android development section are rom's and have screenshot's on the first page. Oh and if you have any other question's just ask me, even though I am new to this site I am not new to G1, and the modified rom's.
Thanks Plasma!
First of all, hello. I am basically a very, VERY huge newbie that just bought an Samsung Galaxy S I9000B and I would like to start to understand specific terms used in this forums (for example, XXJBA ROM, rooting). Can anyone give me a starting guide about this ? I intend to update my phone to android 2.3.3 but I don't know if it's possible (it is a customized one from a Brazilian Carrier called VIVO and if possible I want to remove everything). So I don't know even where to start. Any guides, specific threads, advices, tips, anything to start ?
Thank you,
Amid
Download an app from the market called 'root and me'. It's a great guide for beginners

Okay, thanks. Let me read all those threads and guides than I will be back for more. Thank you again.
BTW, not wanting to rush things but very curious: will I be able to update my phone I9000B to Android 2.3.3 ? Will the B in the end of the model destroy my hopes ? Just a quick answer, don't need to detail it at this point.
Hello again,
I've read the suggested threads and some other material, included the root and me app information. Now I know that the first step to clean my SGS is to root it. The application don't exactly specify which method should I use: SuperOneClick or Z4root. I understand the SuperOneClick is the old method, more dangerous and Z4Root is a new app that does the job but required USB debugging or something like that. So here is the next question (this way, I will be able to create a stick for all newbies, just by tracing my steps): Which method should I use ? Repeating myself, I have a Samsung Galaxy S, Model Number: GT-I9000B, Firmware version 2.2, Vivo Carrier (from Brazil), Baseband Version I9000BBVJJPD, Build number FROYO.VJJPD.
Thank you very much again.

Hi again guys,
No answer yet ? Really ? Am I doing something wrong ? Am I in the wrong forum (I was directed to this forum from androidz.com.br) ? I've tried to find the answers searching other topics but the search function is not very useful in forums. Also, there is no sticky here to help newbies.
The reason I was asking here is because I can't find answers in other places. I don't dare to simply trial and error, which is what I normally do when I have multiple choices, because I am afraid of bricking my phone; It's not that I am lazy to look for answer in other places; I simply can't find them.
Can someone help a newbie or at least point me to an updated guide ?
Thank you very much,
Amid
First things first, I want to say hello and I want to apologize in advance for asking questions which were probably answered at least 100 times so far, but I just can't find my way around this forum. I also want to say that today is the first time that I got an Android mobile phone of my own, so bear with me.
I have spent 3 hours on google trying to find out things by myself, but it left me with even more questions than answers.
What I want to know is how to make my phone as fast / efficient as possible.
I just got a Samsung Galaxy GT-I9000, running 2.3.3 Firmware version and I9000XXJVO Baseband Version.
Which is the newest version of firmware I can use and how do I install it? What programs does it require, and how much time does it take to do?
Even just linking me a step by step guide / thread where it was explained would be GREATLY appreciated.
Again, I want to say that I have 0 experience with Androids, but hey, there is a first time for everything, right?
Many thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to help me.
Android 2.3 is "ancient" now.
If you want something more up to date, and faster, you'll need to install a custom ROM.
Don't rush into it, especially if you need your phone as a phone every day. Take some time to learn.
The latest custom/AOSP ROMs are Kitkat 4.4.
Most popular is CM11. Start reading here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2526478
