I've tried both and got a question :
Why the interface of miri's WM6.5 is worse than Dutty's ? Isn't WM6.5 more latest than WM6.1 ?
Could anyone please make it clear here ? Thanks in advance !

Which interface are you talking about?
I do prefer WinMo 6.5 interface over 6.1.
There are two main changes (visual wisse) on WinMo 6.5 which is the main screen where you have Titanium and the start menu.
On WinMo 6.5 things tend to be more finger friendly than in WinMo 6.1.
As I said before, I do prefer how things are going from 6.1 to 6.5.....
Duttys uses HTC components and they've made an effort to make everything more finger friendly. They've been at it a while, we're currently @ version 3. A good effort i must say Manilla especially the newer versions w/ the new start menu are truly a pleasure to use and have made a considerable difference to the overall experience of the Touch HD.
It's biggest flaw i feel personally is that HTC didn't think to make Manilla customizable at even the basic level of allowing backgrounds on all the level 0 tabs.
Miri's wm 6.5 is straight from Microsoft, who are just now attempting to make the OS more finger friendly and though its newer it is sadly not as refined or cohesive. If we could get a 6.5 rom w/ the new manilla minus the new htc start menu, but with htc notifications & menus, htc dialer, htc calculator ( lets just say all the htc apps) we'd have a really refined looking rom.

Why is a modern VW Beetle slower then an old Porsche? Because they are different cars...
Main difference :
Duttys 6.1: Uses latest, finger friendly HTC Touch Flo software. HTC sell phones. So they (kind of) care about the customer experience.
6.5: By Microsoft. The Windows mobile team totally lost the plot a few years ago lost touch with modern smartphone interface design. 6.5 is a deperate stop-gap until they get 7 out. I think that's enough said, isn't it ?
I tested almost all ROM's from here and the one i found with not so many bugs is that from Laurentius26.
Miri's ROM it's nice but have many bugs , last version i try it's V4 Premium and as you see in his post have many bugs but it's faster (33-35%)
That from Laurentius26 it's not so fast (40-45%) but doesn't have so many bugs so untill miri will improve his version i'll stay and old wwe 6.1
I think this thread should be closed. You are comparing two different operating systems so they are not the same and to put them into a comparison is doing any thing good for either cook.

Thanks for your valuable experience LuCkYaN, maybe I should try Laurentius26's, Dutty's still has ringtone problem...
And Laurentius26 still have bug on ringtone, you can not change ringtone.
p.s. somebody a little up said this thread should be closed in my oppinion have right and not
1. yes users should enter everyone rom thread and see what bug have and if he want will install if no should search another one
2. no because as i did i don't find a thread like this on this part of forum and start to flashing with all roms to see what's new what that have and don't and was good for me but for a new user who join and don't have time to flash all the time and want one good and stable rom to know where to go
On Miri's thread a guy said he want a rom simple without nothing that who came from HTC without bugs but isn't here something like that. In my oppinion if somebody have that ROM i want to post here because came a time when i'll be bored to flash all the time and i just want a rom who to be stable (as i allready said this is my oppinion without upset somebody all ROM's Dutty / Laurentius26 / Miri are good and i apreciate they'r effort )

DRTigerLilly, say's it here, quite right. We must remember also these are Beta's. Dutty has done a fantastic job, both have to test and make the best of Widows and HTC interfaces.
I think you are right to ask and we struggle on to make the perfect ROM
Well done people!
I tested both as well and while i LOVED the 6.5 interface there were still too many bugs. So i switched to Dutty 2.3 (Winmo 6.1) but the one thing i HATE there is the new start menu.. i mean the old drop down was the thing i was really used to...so please can any1 tell me how to get that back on without changing roms? and also the new camera app is and duttys installer for old camera isint working .... any fix for that?? well, unfortunately what he told you is just his opinion, and I think he is wrong. I think it's actually the other way around. TouchFlow was a sort of temporary fix by HTC to bring up a GUI that can compete with Iphone until MS has their own solution. With 6.5 it's not necessary anymore. The newer 6.5 versions such as Miri's V5 easily beat TouchFlo and whatever 6.1 has to offer. The new 6.5 GUI is not a "curtain" like TF, covering up something, but a genuine new interface. I don't even load the manila with TouchFlo anymore, the generic 6.5 GUI is clearly better.

I totally agree with you!
Please don't close this thread yet!
Perhaps the chef names should be removed as roms based on 6.1 with Manila v3 are only subtly different and the same goes for 6.5 roms (IN MY OPINION...)
It is interesting to compare experiences side by side.
I know it is quite shallow but although I like Titanium it doesn't have the same wow factor as v3 Manila does and on a day to day basis, I don't really need to go much deeper.
I also feel that 6.1 has so much support here that I can revive the wow factor with regularity.
6.5 will continue to be installed every couple of weeks though
Hi
I have tried many different roms and are currently at dutty 2.6.
How far has wm6.5 rom come?
I wish to start a thread where we discuss what is best of 6.1 or 6.5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=500523
you guys rock
The way you take no prisoners with people who might not have time to trawl through a couple of thousand posts before asking a genuine question. You guys really are as hard as nails... no scratch that, maybe youre inadequate teenagers struggling to find a meaning to life beyond a slightly disappointing smartphone?
Hi there,
Don't judge everyone by some people's attitude on here...
It is a tough question though, but it would be good to hear peoples views on whether they prefer wm 6.1 or wm 6.5 - and why
I'm just changing from Miri's 6.5 v 5.2 rom back to Dutty's 6.1 v2.6 EXTREME, purely for the simple fact that I love the customisation that Dutty has done to Manilla and the integration to facebook/contacts seems better on Dutty's rom than Miri's.
Don't get me wrong, both roms are constantly being developed and both roms have their advantages, but for me, Dutty's 6.1 v2.6 hits it (and 2.7 will be better!!!)
I'm sure there are more features to 6.5 and it is supposed to be better screen operations for finger rather than pen, but the only thing I really noticed is the new start menu, which is good, but not very customisable.
Been round 2-3 times with these 2 roms, but think I always end up going back to Dutty's.
Give them both a try though as it is each persons perspective on what they prefer from their HD.
I am not being hard and I don't mind helping, just look at some of my posts, but the problem is every couple of days someone asks: Is this rom better for me? Is X rom faster than Y rom? Can you recommend a rom for me?
Just do a search in this rom forum to see how many have been asking the same thing OVER and OVER, or better yet just look at the last few pages!!
The thing is we are all here for the same reason, we all want the fastest, greatest etc, but it is all subjective. The rom that is perfect for me is maybe not even close to good for you....
As for being a teenager, lol, I wish
tru and i feel all of u but the question is which rom do u prefer .... i havnt tried 6.5 but i would like to read reviews on the differences....and no opinons on wat u like for urself who cares wat u want this post is basic info on the differences between 6.1 and 6.5.
its funny cause u sr and jr members are here to help us newbies out and u dont... i had to teach myself how to mode my hd and how to change the roms now im teaching myself on how to mod and create my own rom.... i do wana thank u guys for creating these roms but u guys are here to help not talk slick but please everyone google ur questions first before just postin anywhere... but i feel this is a descent thread
i havent tried 6.5 and im not going to
when 6.5 is released properly then the good version will be properly put on the hd
until then its 6.1
My goodness, lets everyone just start a new thread for no other reason than laziness to read and experiment, dont encourage this kind topics as it sets a bad example!
seams to me that "IT" guys have a chip on there shoulder, all we are looking for is a bit help. We are not all computer experts. We all want the same thing though. The best and fastest rom. It does not matter what is good for me is not good for you. We are simply asking a question. And you are the guys to answer the questions. Yes you could do a search and get about 10,000 answers. Do you have time to go thru all them for the one you are looking for. COME ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Once again this is heading down the path of another useless thread as everyone is talking off topic again.
This is why MOD's delete threads like this as they just go round in circles with people complaining etc etc etc.
If you want this thread to remain open, start talking about the topic again, otherwise thread will close very soon. I'm actually surprised its still open.
Anyway, ON TOPIC, all 6.5 is a facelift to 6.1 with no real great improvement.
Thats my 2 cents!!
So true am new to all of this, I've been trying to put the 6.5 rom on htc hd and finding help is not easy.

I don't understand why everyone decline the question. In my understanding the question just ask about the advantages of the 6.5 in comparison to 6.1 ROMs here.
May be this question question the high-number-must-better attidude of many of us but for me this question is adequate and reasonable. No reason to harm somebody.

Maybe this helps: ll you need to know about Windows Mobile 6.5
Relating to this article:
1. Windows Mobile becomes Windows Phone
Surely no reason for our choice.
2. All new menus
6.1: Manula, manila menus, new start menu etc. from HTC
6.5: honeycomb today screen, new menus etc.
Both solutions are more finger friendly -> Its you choice.
3. Flick gestures
Like HTC with manila and some other options on 6.1, microsoft try the same with 6.5. -> Its you choice.
4. Better browser
Most 6.1 ROMs here use Opera and 6.5 the new internet explorer. -> Its you choice.
7. Better looking lock screen
There are many 3th party applications which allow this also on 6.1 ROMs. -> Its you choice.
8. Improved e-mail and messaging
I didn't check this with current 6.5 ROMs but it seems to be, that HTC (on old 6.1 ROMs) made the same.
So, after all this points, for me there is no big advantage between the new 6.5 ROM and the old 6.1 ROMs with HTC applications like manila.
It's only your choice, if you prefer manila or honeycombs, the solutions from HTC or Microsoft.

For me it was the lock screen in WM6.5 that sold it to me. I used to use S2U2 but found it a little bit buggy and would sometimes crap-out when using flipit/gyrator etc etc. The default WM6.1 lock does a job but it's exactly pretty looking.
But the WM 6.5 lock? 'Tis glorious! I'm loving being able to jump straight to different notifications and it just looks so good as well.
Other aspects of WM6.5
I was using Dutty's v2.6 (and had been using Dutty's ROMs since the first Xtreme Test came out) and couldn't recommend it highly enough; it really is a fantastic ROM. I am missing a lot of the nice little features the the Rhodium Manila brings in.
I'm currently using Miri's v6.1 Premium (and thinking about upgrading to the new v7.0) with TF3D running on top of it. I ran with the Titanium interface for a bit but Manila if definitely better for me and the way I use my phone.
But part of me thinks I might just go back to Dutty's v2.6. As I mentioned above, there a just so many lovely little features in the Rhodium ROMs cooked by Dutty that I'm missing. No sleight on Miri's work you understand; there are many bugs reported when trying to integrate Rhodium with WM6.5 so I think the final advice has to be that if you want all the niceness of the Rhodium ROMs (and believe me, they are nice!) you need to run WM6.1 underneath.
I guess we'll just have to wait for the Diamond2/Touch Pro2 to get their WM6.5 upgrades in the Summer to see how Manila3 works alongside WM6.5.

That is exactly what I wanted to hear! Magic!
I used Duttys 2.4 ROM earlier, loved it.
I installed Davideucks wm6.5 rom yesterday, I love the speed of the Titanium menu, feels really smooth, so does the start-menu and mail inbox.
But like dom_mitchell1 i miss some small stuff from manila/duttys ROM.
Things I dont like about WM 6.5 is that I dont think we cant customzie the main Titanium menue, yet? For instance I would like it to launch Opera instead of IE.
I liked the new Manila calendar better.
Today screen only shows one appointment. I dont know why they dont use all that empty space they left in the lock-screen, its perfect for showing multiple appointments.
Moving icons the way you want them in the new sart-menu is a hassle.
Hearing that Dutty is moving to 6.5 is really great.
I bet he will bring great stuff to it.
OFFTOPIC: IMO, the biggest factor for chosing either wm6.1 or wm6.5 is personal choice, based on several factors: functionality, looks, speed, customization, compatibility. Thats why it is really difficult to chose the perfect ROM for everybody. This debate between newer members asking this sort of questions and older members becoming sick and tired of answering them is old and it will last forever, I guess. No matter how many times you say to a new member: go read wiki, etc, there will ALWAYS be smb. new coming and asking the same question tomorrow. I, personally, prefer to help instead of suggesting: go read, but sometimes I am way too lazy to present a proper answer, hence I just ignore the question. I believe this should be the solution to this, but everybody treats it differently.
ONTOPIC: I have tried 20+ ROMs for HD, most of them wm6.1, but now i'm on Davide wm6.5 rom and i dont wanna go back. why?
at the beginning its the looks. I guess i just grew tired of the dark, black HTC customization. Also, manila was not suitable for me, i didnt use 70% of the features, i guess: didnt use favourite people tab (its easier to dial directly from phone app.), didnt use financial info tab (not interested), didnt use internet tab (i can easily just open Opera from programs) etc.
Wm6.5 is finally moving at an acceptable speed, the Start menu looks great (although it lacks customization mostly), and from the home screen i can listen to music, see photos, see the wheather (by using titanium weather 2.2) and I can use some HD-quality pictures as background. Also, email, sms lists look neater, more classy. the softkey menus are bigger, more finger-friendly. These are reasons enough for me to use wm6.5 and not come back to 6.1. Not to mention being a smart-ass among my friends with HTC HD and stock ROM.
So if you go rather towards new, imperfect technically-wise ROMs, I advice you to go to 6.5. It is fully utilisable. I actually used the previous Davide ROM for a week!!, which is quite a lot of time in my recent days. If you prefer much functionality and perfect, 100% reliable device, go for wm6.1 roms..

Yes, like 6.1 was a facelift to 6.0, and 6.0 to 5.0. So what? The latest beta versions of 6.5 are clearly faster than 6.1 and you do not need TF anymore, which by itself slows down WM.
fair question. my advice is to sprite backup ur data. try out each new 6.5 rom cook then, if u don't like it, go back to ur previous rom & do #1 spritr restore.
personally, I found early 6.5 roms really slow & unresponsive so I too abandoned the concept for extreme 2.6.
I have decided to wait til it's officially released. I don't think it's anywhere near ready. oh, and it didn't recognize my sdd card.
the big improvements for me were the big X in top right corner (close button) and the opera like IE browser.
Hey everyone
I am trying to figure out which version of WM is best for the my phone. What are the pros and Cons of 6.1 vs 6.5?
and what are the best builds I can get for both? I have 2 Kaiser phones (HTC 8925) and would like to install 6.1 on one and 6.5 on the other to see which works best for me.
Thanks

6.1 is official and stable, 6.5 is unofficial and beta therefore there are some stability issues . Some roms more than others.
Beyond that , with two Tilts, lucky you. Put a stable 6.1 on one to use everyday and with the other, try every rom that looks and sounds good until you find the one that works for you.

Yeah I don't recommend 6.5 anymore. It screws up all the time.
wow, Intresting I have been playing around with 6.5 currently and I do really like the new Start menu in 6.5 (the larger buttons are fantastic) over 6.1 start menu.

so what is the most stable 6.1 I can get?
or should I keep the 2nd one on 6.0.....?

Don't stay on 6.0, you might as well use two cups and a string to make calls. There are a lot of really nice things about 6.5 that I like a lot. Finger friendliness is one of them. But since we don't have an official version yet, everyone is experimenting and pushing the limits. " let's take this puppy out for a spin and see what it'll do " kind of thing. Chefs are not going for a nice safe stable version of 6.5. They are leaving that up to M$.
I use stylez' Black rom ( check sig ) it is as good as 6.1 gets. But I have also used shifu's v17, abusalza's X v.9, TPC's Elite v6 and mbarvian's Solice v3.1, also all good roms. Flash them all and see wnat you like best.
I ran duttys last rom for almost a year with only having to reset 2 times. You can't do what with a 6.5.

Soft or hard? If that's soft, did you have routine soft resets and you only had to manually reset twice, or do you just not actually run anything.

Alright so I am now on "tylez' Black rom" and so far it is my favorite Rom.
is there a user manual for Touch Flo some where?
I installed the M2DC and am getting ready to play with differnt Themes. but I am having hard time customizing the touch flo.
but my main Question is under the "Programs" Tab in touch flow I would like to add a button that links to a certain File Directory. I can add File Exploer there, but not a set file directory. I created a Shortcut to the file and tried to add that but it didn't work. any Ideas? Ideally under that "program tab I'd like to add a link to the "Games Directory"
any help?
I ran all sorts of things, and all I did were a couple of hard resets.

Funny you say that. I was going to comment (And know I guess I am) that The 6.5 start menu is the only thing keeping me from using 6.5. The 6.1 start menu self organizes. The programs I use tend to stay at the top of the list. If it's not there, then I can go to the programs tab.
I wouldn't rule out HTC WM 6.0 ROMs

Maybe this is an AT&T Tilt ROM or network specific thing because I've found WM 6.0 to be the most reliable hands down out of the numerous WM HTC WWE ROMs I've evaluated and even one WM 6.5 Customised ROM. My calls are reliable and clear and there don't seem to be the same 'screen flash' issues coming out of powersaving mode and occasional silent ring tones that the WM 6.1 ROMs gave me.
It's not the fastest in terms of GUI performance but as far as GPS performance is concerned people may as well use a sextant, almanac and maps to navigate because it'll be quicker than many GPS equipped ROMs using WM 6.1 and 6.5. This is because WM 6.1 and 6.5 ROMs require different radio firmware than the original WM 6.0 ROMs and these new Radios are weaker at/allocate less power to receiving the satellite signals.
It depends on what the owners priorities and intended uses for the phone are, as to which ROM is most suitable.
Nothing to do with the actual topic

We've gotten some pretty entertaining people in the last several months. I'm just catching up from missing half a year, and you people are pretty damn funny.
Alrite -- who amongst y'all is using 6.5 with SPB MS3? What can you report regarding its performance?

Used with TPC's and Abusalza's 6.5 naked or stripped versions, and the performance was very good. I wouldn't try to use it with full versions as it will have to compete with , Manila, MotoHome, and or Titanium/cHome for resources.
I've been using this 6.5 rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=519715
It has been much more stable than the default 6.1 AT&T rom that I used for the last two years. Reception is even better.
hello
as i surfing other phone threads i saw many WM 6.1- MANILA 2.5 cooked rom for X1 TP2 and diamond2 and... is there any thing for Blackstone ? as in my opinion WM6.1 is much much faster than WM6.5. I almost tried all wm6.5 roms but they are buggy and slower than WM6.1.
the only one for blackstone found is Miri Wm6.1 with manila 2.5 which is fast but rather old and it is DISCONTINUED!
The problem with the buggyness is not due to win 6.5 but Manila 2.5, the problems would be at least the same with 6.1.
I suggest u try some of the win 6.5 + manila 2.1 that there are around such as miri v30, they're very fast and very stable.

Guess why? Because in contradiction to your opinion, almost everybody here regards WM 6.5 as fast, more user friendly, better looking, and bugfree.
As he said: Try 6.5 with Manila 2.1, because it is 2.5 that is slowing down things with the slow Touch HD processor, not 6.5.
yes . tried those V30 and V12 also. they are acceptable but not running smooth. I think Blackstone lack of drivers for WM6.5 causes that. they freezes randomly so not good for daily uses. I almost lost some of my important information using those roms but they are good things to experience things coming future! how ever I think manila 2.5 will run better on Blackstone. now I am switched to miri WM6.1 with manila 2.5 but the version of manila used there is older manila 2.5 one which is buggy and the rom is also discontinued.
-I am also thinking of overclocking the blackstone processor as the last solution since I damaged my htc prophet one because of overclocking

Why don't you try it. I'm using her for more than a month and I'm really quite happy. And, since I don't use Facebook nor Twitter, everything is working well. I can even send a 160 crt SMS that with all the others 6.5 Rom's wasn't possible.
At least for now, this is my Rom, and will be the backup Rom if I decide to restart flashing new ones.
Ciao

for sure! I am now playing with this rom. its fast and smooth. manila is working as what it should be and smooth as i saw in the demo of HD2. however since this rom is discontinued the manila is rather old 2.5 one which having some problems. how ever i am now forget about some broken things and I am happy with this rom.
is miri V3.0 the only WM6.1 and Manila 2.5 available? is there is any other please provide me with the link. thanks
i am using toopix and it's the best. i tried all 6.5 with manilla 2.1 and 2.5 and always had to come back to toopix. i just need an application that does the work of footprint and it will be perfect.

I agree with you. All WM6.5 ROM I tried are slower then WM6.1 ones.
Now I'm using Miri's WM6.1 Manila2.5 and it's fast, very fast.
I have also update some packages. The only bugs I've are: Facebook and Footprints. Also the default WM6.1 is very bad... but I'm working on it to replace with a third part action screen.
ReX
i agree, it is fast but it is rather old and have some bugs
can some one upload the ROM file and post the link here? the one on the official thread doen not have any free user download slots left.
please

Hey, do you mind tell me which version you are using?
I'm using miri wm6.1 + Sense 2.5. I gotta say, I love WM6.1 better than 6.5. I find the battery life is better. Also, the speed is better than 6.5. I'm not saying 6.5 is slow, just 6.1 is faster than 6.5.
hey Jakkkk, Do u have the zip/rar file of the miri's ROM with you?
i can't find any working download link for the same..
the dedicated thread is closed as well
People still use 6.1? There is a reason noone puts 2.5 on 6.1
Its so OOOOLLLLDDD. Live in the NOW! once you go kinetic you can't go back! Once you made that move the next one is clear, once you go 6.5.1 + 2.5 there is definitely no going back! Unless you don't commend appearance or usability high on your list.....then you can stick with 6.1
MAN UP, PUT UP WITH THE EXTRA FEW MILISECOND LAG WITH 6.5x ROMS AND ENJOY THE AWESOMENESS!
I am a fellow topix follower, but I love the new 6.5.1 far too much to worry that it takes a few more miliseconds to do things. BOOHOO
P.S, do you still use windows 95? Cos its ALOT faster than xp, vista, and windows 7. I use windows 7 cos it looks god damn gorgeous (and way more features lol) - catch my drift?
I get ur point.. but i still wonder why u r still on HD, i am sure there alot of newer phones out alreday. HD is so OOOOLLLLDDD!!!
anyways, everybody choose whatever they are comfortable with. I'll request you to refrain yourself from passing such remarks(n making such posts) on what others choose. Let them live in the primitive era if they wish to.. Rest its up to u.

the twitter tab is not working on this ROM, i want manila 2.5 for that only.
else i m very happy with my current ROM
hi i just got this phone and i love it. i have read a lot about upgrading the rom, but all these seperate roms confuse the heck out of me . Say i just want to upgrade to win 6.5 is the christians clean rom the best one? will i lose features and will i lose all my data and saved stuff if i flash it? sorry fot the noob questions. thanks for looking
there is no such thing as the best rom. u will have to find out by your self flashing all the different roms you are interested in and test them out if they fit your needs. i think christians rom is a good start. its fast and he offers different versions.
all your data (except those on the sd card) will be lost. but there are programs to back them up.
Ok, thanks. Going to try out a few now, just got the phone Hard SPLed or whatever (neardly died of a heart attack when it stuck at the bootloader and the program failed... just ran the program again and it worked phew lol). Thank you

ithik every 1st timer of flashing can relate to that one..
enjoy flashing..
you can back up your contacts/SMS/email, etc. with PIMBackup, SPB backup, or Microsoft MyPhone before you flash so you won't lose your data

I'm in the same boat.
What ROM did you eventually go with? Are you impressed with the result?
I have tried alot of different roms, however I have one clear preference.
IMO the best Windows 6.5 Rom is this one: http://826x.blogspot.com/
I would get the version without HTC Sense.
I am currently running the "ROM 826X Windows Mobile 6.5.5 build 23519" version, and am getting 2-3 days battery life with moderate day to day use.
ANY other 6.5 rom that I have tried has been 1-1.5 days, however these have all been HTC Sense / TF3D roms.
If you do not mind about battery life then the Agent_47 / itje / NRGZ28 roms are all excellent, and offer additional eye candy.
Happy flashing.
i've been getting 2 days battery out of the latest agent roms! thats with sense 2.5 on too!

Just briefly - what is HTC sense & TF3D?
I could probably find this out myself if I google, but I'm being lazy.

Tried Christian'd clean one and I thought it was ok, currently using the xperia x1.5 one and i like it, but im going to try some of the fancier ones before i settle.
Hey buddy, I was very much like you sometime back(a couple of months, to be precise) but if u want a plain ROM 6.5 just like ur current 6.1...then the best is Spike's Unoff...NOT the 1.5, it again has some goodies...http://pocketnow.com/html/portal/news/0000008936//xasense.jpeg
this is ur HTC Sense UI, 2.5 build...if u want this, then u wont have the basic 6.5 look..because ur home screen wil be like this..hope it helps, if u have any worries, PM me..CHEERS!

^ good advice. It's a nice ROM.
Do you know how to resize pictures for MMS? My 6.1 ROM gave me the option to compress a picture before added it to the message. 826X's ROM Doesn't.
just a suggestion: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6114197&postcount=88
I've settled with the Energy ROM, but am now trying the 23554 build to see if it's any better. With my extended life battery, I get upto a week of casual texting, and it's got HTC Sense 2.5 which I would now insist on having on the phone at all times
Thanks for the replies guys

First thing to save battery life in the NRG ROMs is to set the backlight settings. That can save a lot of battery.....

I'm currently using 23545 (non manila). I really like it. I'd like to try the Energy ROM, but I don't like manila. Plus, swapping ROMs every few days gets tiresome.

^ cancel request. Managed to find the menu to decrease picture size for MMS. Blairingly obvious too - MMS option, Photo resolution, VGA.
