God! this is too much!! I've had this damn problem pretty much fromt the start (since I bought x1). Sometimes (in fact loads of times) x1 gets stuck and I'll have to soft reset it. When I do, it gets stuck when it says Windows mobile 6.1. And nothing else happens and then i'll have to soft reset it again!! Today it happened again and I had to soft reset it nearly ten times before It got normally switched on!! What should I do??! Plleeeeeeeeaaaase help. I'm getting fed up with this.
I also did a software update using SE. followed by a hard reset. Problem persists.
Flash another ROM? Sounds like some system file was corrupted to me.
That still happens to me - 6.1 or 6.5 ROMs made no difference. Though I have noticed now that the less you install on the phone, the less chance there is for the need to soft reset over and over again. I also noticed that if I turn wifi off before I turn off the phone, it's easier booting back up.
does this happen the same with the memory card removed?
Happened to me. Hard-Reset fixed the problem for me.
I already did a hard reset: Wouldn't do ant good. I haven't tried with mem card removed.
BTW it happened again but this time It came good at the 2nd attempt.

I've never tried. Do you get an error when you use it as drive mode? I sometimes get an error saying that the card is corrupted.
Corrupted memory cards might cause issues too, so try another card or remove the card, as another poster suggested.

I know this is my first post here but I've done my best to search the forums and I haven't found anything that looks like it helps me.
I just got my AT&T Tilt yesterday. It came unlocked (I'm using it with T-Mobile) and has an HTC ROM installed as well as various other apps (Ms. Pacman, TomTom 6, SuperDoku, etc.). I had some issues with it locking up yesterday (similar to what I'm experiencing now but to a much, much lesser degree) when I was playing around with it but those issues somehow corrected themselves.
This morning I installed the Tilt keyboard fix that TaurusBullba posted on here back in June to fix some mapping issues. Since I installed and soft reseted, everything has been going kinda haywire. The Wi-Fi turned itself off and I can't turn it back on. When I slide out the keyboard the orientation stays in portrait mode. When I try to shut down the phone using the power button it hangs forever. Now, actually, half the time I press the power button nothing happens at all.
I've tried uninstalling the CAB but that didn't fix anything at all. I'm afraid to try a hard reset because, from my understanding, I'm going to lose everything that came pre-installed on my phone for me. I should probably also add that last night I installed the Google Maps CAB with no problems whatsoever. Is there some simple solution I'm overlooking? Thanks much!
I would advise that if you have tried soft resets to try and resolve the issues and it hasn't worked, then perhaps a hard reset?
It sounds as if the software you have installed as either caused the problems or exacberated them (ie made them worse).
With hard reset it wipes everything back to when you got it. If you are able I would suggest that you plug it into the computer and make sure ActiveSync backups up your contents. You may also want to use this get all the files on the main memory either to the storage card or to you're PC.
As this is yo're first post I don't know how au fait you are with the above that I have mentioned
The preloaded apps will be reloaded again. You won't have an empty ROM if you do a hard reset. It will be as if you just flashed the ROM again.
Thanks for the replies guys. I went ahead and did a hard reset and it looks like the only thing I lost (or at least the only thing I miss) was TomTom. I've already reinstalled that using a link I found on here, and everything seems to be good to go.
I still have no idea what might have caused the problems though, so I'm afraid that they might come back or I might repeat some dumb mistake I made. I guess I'll just have to live with that for now.
clear storage / hard resets no big deal, just expect to do it every other week while you're finding all the cabs that work (or dont work) for you..
I generally clear storaged every week when i first got my tilt until I found all the app's I liked that didn't have side effects
Hi,
In the past couple of weeks, i have had to perform a number of soft resets as my Kaiser was hanging. I didnt think much of it, putting it down to probably low memory.
However today it hung again whilst in IE and so i did a soft reset. Then it would boot only to the 'smart mobility' screen showing
R 1.27.12.11
G 22.45.88.07H
D 1.81.00.00
I started to get worried as it would not proceed past that screen. I tried several more soft resets and then decided to remove my 2gb microSD card, which helped it boot to WM6.
It would not show that the phone was connected to the network although the wifi was connected ok. I tried disabling the phone in the comm manager but that made no difference.
I then removed the SIM and it recognised that it was missing and shut down in 10 seconds.
I re-insterted the sim, but it still saw no network.
Then a number of other errors came up, such as quickdial.exe is missing, as well as a few others.
When i inserted the MicroSD back in it started to load and most recently 'should we disable phone alarm' at next start. Which i could not click as it had hung again.
Now, with or without the MicroSD or Sim it is back hanging at the 'smart mobility screen' again.
What should i do?
Thanks

First thing in such cases is a hardreset.
Yep, just doing that as you posted.
I really wanted to avoid doing that though.
Well, its done now, and now to re-install everything.
What do you thing was the fault? or cause for the hang ups.

Some software or setting you've done, or it was simply Murphys Law:
When the mistake could happen, it will happen
Should i upgrade the radio at this point?
Its like with PCs, u need to reinstall your operation system from time to time.
Hei all,
My Kaiser just the other night did something very strange and has not been able to fix it.
I turned it on, it booted right through then just like a stuck button it started to cycle through most programs starting and closing. The search engine starts up then it starts to write mmmmn.nmnm.mnnm. eee. and then stops .... ok this is just a few of the things it does.
Ok first I have soft booted and the same thing ... then I tried a hard reset ... guess what it will not hard reset. Yes two soft keys with the soft reset pushed in ..... but nothing!
Is there any other way to do a hard reset. I have no clue what is happening??
Thanks for the help!
Chris
Well guess what ..... after two days of trying to hard reset it finally worked .... perseverance ..... I guess fat fingers

Hi:
You can go into start/settings/system/clear storage. That will hard reset your device.
EDIT: Oops, sorry I missed your last line. Please disregard my post
Help plz. Im having a strange prob. It seems to happen about every 24 hours.everything runs fine then all the sudden things start to stop working my program files just go away it happens with diff roms its happened when iv not instaled anything and when i have a bunch of things instaled. Its like somthing is just eating everthing. And if i do a soft reset when it restarts its like i just did a hard reset and its a 1st run. Im totaly lost
any ideas plz
bump back up
are your programs installed on internal storage or on sd card?
happened to me that programs installed on sd card "disappeared" when power management disabled the sd card slot...
just a thought.
nope everything is instailed in phone mem i dont even have to instail anything its happened 3 times today its like something eats the files even system files just vanish and im forced to soft reset but when the phone restarts from its soft reset it is just like i did a hard reset and have to wait for it to set back up
I am afraid that there is something seriously wrong with your phone if this happens. Can't be a virus, since it happens also straight after a "hard = soft reset". I am afraid your internal memory is damaged by something, or was never right to start with. Bring it to service.
this started happening randomly about 2 weeks ago now
I've tried 3 different roms, but the problem still exists
it first started happening when i had the eneryrom flashed
but now i believe its not the roms thats causing this, i think its the hardware in my x1 or something, im not sure
what can i do to fix this?
basically my x1 restarts by it self, randomly at random times
maybe every other day, and sometimes even twice in a day
its really weird and not looking good at all
any help is appreciated, i just want to fix this

Did you install any kind of softwares or applications? Could be due to an unstable application
Also, does it restart when you are using it or doing something on your phone? or does it just restart while sitting on the table?
If it just restarts when the phone is in your pocket while walking/running (when u r not using it), then it could be possible that your battery is loose.
Check to see if you battery fits perfectly. stick in a folded small piece of paper at one of the bottom side of the battery to tighten the battery if your battery is loose.
Let me know if this is the case.
I would suggest flashing back to stock rom and see if the problem still exists....sd card could be a factor also...

WC

i;ve been using roms for months, it never happened before just recently
its really hectic for me to flash back to stock but if thats the only option i will do it
also if its sd card,,,how could i fix that, should i reformat it or something?
This has happened to me in the past when using an HTC Touch Diamond. I think it has something to do with not wiping the device or doing a hard reset before flashing a new rom. Does it hard reset when the phone restarts?

nope just a regular restart
i've installed my rom's with the right procedures, including a hard reset its not that
any other solutions please?
I mentioned the flashing back to stock to rule out its not a hardware issue....but a software issue....remove your sd card copy the contents of it to your hard driver....reformat the card....Im not saying this will solve it...but i have seen the sd card becaue of reminants of other flashes mess some things up...

reflash your stock rom.. if your phone is not functioning as normal, then i suggest to check with SE
I would download the ROM and re-flash your phone. Could be possible that the download got corrupted. Wouldn't hurt.

Remove the sd card and see what it does...other then that...your device may be giving up the ghost and may need to be sent to a service center....

tried everything, im sure there something wrong with the phone
cant do anything about it, but thanks for the help guys
my stock nexus one becomes highly unstable after booting up. im running strock 2.2.1, and this issue started apearing recently (after 2.2.1 update). the phone has never had any problems in the past.
whenever i turn the phone on, if i touch it it becomes really laggy and freezes, requiring me to pull the battery. however, if i let it sit for 15-20 minutes and then play with it it works fine, until the next time i shut id down (which can be days). i have performed a factory reset without reinstalling all of my old applications, i have formatted my sd card, and i have checked all the applications that start on boot up, but none of them seam to be the issue (when there was nothing on the phone it still reacted this way)
any suggestions? should i contact htc? this is really annoying.
Before you do, you could try to root and check the logs for anything suspicious (logcat and kmesg). Also you could try to install custom ROM and see if the problem still exists.
If it doesn't help - you should contact HTC.

Factory reset with formatted card? Has to be something wrong with the phone.
Go to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache, and try to boot phone again, often that helps.
tried wiping everything i can through recovery, yet my phone still freezes soon after start up. any chance htc will fix this? i dont want a refurb
Because when system has just booted up, it needs to check SD card and mounts all App2SD applications.
Try to boot your phone without SD and SIM card, see if it solves the issue.
tried removing sim and microsd and all th possible combinations.
it runs great without the microsd, so im guessing that was the issue. ill try another microsd to make sure its not a hardware/software bug related to sds in general but rather an issue with my specific microsd (which isnt the stock one).
thanks for the suggestion. i was very close to sending my phone in to htc (already had a ticket open and a fedex label)
that sounds good perhaps your SD card was corrupted. Connect it to your computer using a card reader, and do a disk check in Windows, see if it can fix any problem. Also try to degragment your SD card.
