Get old market back? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been running Cyan roms for a while....I have issues with the new market which was included in his 4.1.11.1 rom (not getting updates), and would like to go back to the old market. I nandroided back to 4.0.4 which had the old market before flashing to 4.1.9999, but when I did that it had the new market again for some reason.
Is there any way I can just delete the new market and install the old one, without reflashing? Is there just an apk or something I can install it with? I asked this in the Cyan ROM thread but it was never answered.
Thanks in advance for any help.

if u can get a copy of his old rom flash it...or just use someone elses rom

4.2.1 is out. You might aswell flash that to see if it solves your market issues.
This is not due to the new market if you're using Apps2SD. Download aTrackDog and it will check that all your apps are up to date.

You can use the CM updater to change ROMs. 4.2.3.1 is the latest rom though. CM updater will notify you when updates for both roms and themes are available.
update 4.2.2 showing on CM updater...
Can i you this or do i have to download on to my pc and re-flash it that way.
Please advise.
hit download and then apply
trust me, it works, i should know, im the cmupdater project leader
the only issue there ever was was when cyanogen had to stop including google stuff etc
Works well...
I updated 4.2.3.1 to 4.2.4 with it. Worked like a charm.
Plus I like how it verifies the download before flashing to avoid bad downloads.
Couldn't get it to work. Kept going back to the recovery screen??
had to load 4.3.2.1 again...
I tried wiping it and re-install, same outcome.
Any idea's??
Thanks
Ignore last post.
I rip it off the net and re-installed it from the SD card.
All good now.
Slightly quicker now one thinks as well.

Dire need of some help guys. Just Rooted and Installed Eclair 2.1

So I just rooted my G1 and installed Eclair 2.1.
For some reason I can't download anything from the market? Everything just sits at the 'installing' section of the app market and never really starts.
I would just install everything off the SD card but the ROM didnt even come w/ a file manager
Would I be better off installing a different rom or am I missing something? I am not recieving text messages either, but I was told that is because the G1 isnt compatible/working w/ the default message system and I would need to use a 3rd party app (Handcent, ChompSMS, etc)
Any help is appreciated
I have a retarded issue with it on my 1.5 Dream. Try signing into Google Talk. Not much of a fix... but if it works...

First, we need to know which rom you're using. Eclair is the version name of 2.1, not the rom. At that point, we might be able to help you. Also, roms generally dont come with file managers, you have to use your own. An alternate way to install your apps would be to install them through ADB.

Whomever told you that the G1 doesnt work with the default messaging app on 2.1 was lying. I can think of three roms off the top of my head that run it just fine. Hell, i've got it working on my G1 as I type this.
So once you get us some more information, perhaps we could help you out.
like the other guy said, i have heard that signing into google talk fixes the market download bug, also try rebooting, if i have this problem a reboot and about 5 minute wait will fix it.

My market is same 1710 and woks well no issue so far.
Thnx. for me it doesn't. it's not really slow but it takes it time to show the content.
before someone is gonna reffer to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687578 it tried it but no luck.
How about restore old working nandroid backup then wipe just cache and flash over latest cm rom.

Mediafire is a real good Hoster to download directly to my cellphone, but for now, it downloads only with 5kb/s . Just boring :S
I hope this Version works for me, until it's down in 6 Minutes^^

are u running 2.2+ android ?
honestly I'm running CM6.1 final with 2708 kernel/hack
I never tried installing manually and created the flashable update and it worked like a charm on CM6.1 Final 2708
It simply replace Vending.apk to the newest version and chmod 644 /system/app/Vending.apk also...
You do need a recovery that accept test-keys AKA rooted & unlocked BUT why aren't rooted yet ?
Thank you
This looks great. No problems I just flashed and it works great!
I got this to work by going into "Titanium Backup" and on the MARKET app, chose the wipe data button, then un-installed the old version of "Market".
Then I rebooted and ran the update.zip and it worked!
Hope this works for you!

I did even release a 2.3 sdk port to G1 since so much ppl were kindly asking for it
Nothing worth a mention IMO lol
I'm gonna give a few of my spare time to G1 dev <3 paste your adb logcat on pastebin so I can check
That would really help

ok it didnt work for me...im using mytouch 3g...it flashed but the market says loading then goes white...i didnt nand (noob move) but i know froyo will just reinstall all the apps but i dont feel like going through all that.
does anyone have a flashable version of the froyo market so i wont have to wipe? thanx in advance
I'm wondering how to flash this onto a phone o.o
I'm new to the flashing, rooting etc stuff ><
Edit : Continued searching and found out it has to do with recovery mode. Just cant figure out how to switch to recovery on galaxy 3
Did a nand backup, flashed the zip, rebooted, FC on Market before even launching, launched Market and a white screen. Restored from nand to get back up. Running OTA 2.2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=811620)
Any ideas? Manual installation via ADB?
To save you the trouble of putting the adb method , you can refer to my post .
It does the same thing but manually and its working for sure (Eclairs and Froyo ) : )

Cheers !
I just got this OTA update for market. I just backed up my old market, then installed this from the SD like a regular app. I didn't have any problems or need special permissions. Maybe someone could try this if they're having problems with the flashable or adb.
Two threads?
Ok so someone else started a thread for this in the development section which I thought to be weird, just wanted you to know, here is the thread. Personally I would rather just have one, yours : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872526

did exactly what he did here, nd works like a charm
is this flashable to sd card? I have cyanogen 6.1.0 android 2.2(froyo). Its probably a dumb question. But I'm asking this because theres another thread which indicated on his post that he didn't make his flashable. And its similar to this except that one runs on adb. So I'm wondering if this is flashable?

same rom..same problem
even doing adb doesnt work
Okay. So i have my g1 rooted. With froyo 2.2 cyanogen 6.1 ROM. As you may know, it doesn't come with google apps. So market isn't available. I've been looking all over the web. Trying each and everyone's market.apk and market.zip . All doesn't work. I tried normal install from a file manager. Nothing. Tried adb process. Pushing it. Still not working. Tried android command, still not working. And finally, your file, which i flashed. Still didn't work. All of them I got the same. When I open market, I just get a white blank, then after 5 seconds, goes back to the desktop screen. Any ideas to help me? Would really appreciate it.
Or I was thinking of doing this. Reflash the stock android 1.6 with root and then try the market. If it works, use nandroid back up. And then flash cyanogen 6.0 froyo 2.2 and restore the backup that i made with the market. DO you think that will work?
succesfully installed on my g1 cynogenmod but the market get fc when i try to download

Just wanted to post, thank you. Running SS4.9 on a droid, was having problems getting this app to work until your post. Downloaded and renamed to update.zip and so far is working like a charm.
Thank you very much.

[Q] help with market.

OK so I have been flashing the new Roms on my phone for a long time now and recently I've noticed that the market doesn't work on the newer Roms. If I go to the market and try to download something it will just say downloadIng and will stay that way. I had to keep an old version of a Rodriguez Rom on my phone, flash back to that, update my apps and then back them up to put them on the newer Roms. Long story short, the market doesn't work for me on newer Roms. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
What new rom? You doing full wipe when going from one rom to the next?

all of them. Well the Miui Roms. Cyan is the only Rom that doesn't do it. And I do wipe. 5 times like it says. Still doesn't work.
Possibly a sign of corrupt data on the SD. Try running ScanDisc from your PC on the SD card, and fixing any errors...
