OK so I have been flashing the new Roms on my phone for a long time now and recently I've noticed that the market doesn't work on the newer Roms. If I go to the market and try to download something it will just say downloadIng and will stay that way. I had to keep an old version of a Rodriguez Rom on my phone, flash back to that, update my apps and then back them up to put them on the newer Roms. Long story short, the market doesn't work for me on newer Roms. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
What new rom? You doing full wipe when going from one rom to the next?

all of them. Well the Miui Roms. Cyan is the only Rom that doesn't do it. And I do wipe. 5 times like it says. Still doesn't work.
Possibly a sign of corrupt data on the SD. Try running ScanDisc from your PC on the SD card, and fixing any errors...

Ok i have the cm6 rc2 rom on my nexus right now.. this is my first rom.. i rooted last night..
so anyways, i have a couple questions for you guys..
1. if an update comes to my rom, how will it be shown that it came out? how do i update it?.. yes i have rom manager.. will it be like a app update (in a way)? i wont lose anything right?
2. if i morph some "goodies" to my rom right now, and when an update comes, will i lose all the goodies i morphed??
thanks guys for ur help!
to update your ROM you can just use ROM manager. most major cyanogen releases appear on there, and its easy click to install. or you can just grab the new ROM manually and place it on your sd card and flash from recovery (which is exactly what ROM manager does for you, it just automates it for you).
when you apply a morph and then update your ROM, you usually have to re-apply the morph. i keep mine on my sd card since its the first thing i do on a new ROM.
Can this new recovery be used to flash CyanogenMod 6.1.1??? I just got the new recovery update on rom manager and was going to flash cyanogenmod 6.1.1 and just checking. I thought the new recovery was for flashing Gingerbread roms?? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Vinny
I don't see why not. You can try and if it don't work you can flash an older version in ROM Manager

I am not sure about that. But one thing for sure is it is not good for MM's CM7. I have loop-reboot problem with this. I cannot even restore to any custom roms except my froyo stock. :-( Now, I have to downgrade to 2.5.x.x to see if my custom roms work again.
See development section.
EDIT: I successfully restore other custom roms using lower version of Clockworkmod. But the loop-reboot problem of MM's CM7 remains the same.
I guess I won't find out until I try. Newly rooted and going to give CyanogenMod a try. Know I am going to be happy as hell with it.
Thanks
The new recovery should be fine with flashing any roms. As for any standing problems with it, im am uncertain. You may want to wait 2 weeks or so to see if their are any problems from people using it. Personally I like Amon ra so i cant say.

A full wipe is necessary to upgrade to gingerbread roms from any lower android versions. Did u full wipe? + Dalvik cache wipe?

Yes. I did full wipe on everything. I even fix permission. No luck at all.

I used it to flash and install tonight's build successfully...
I have a "side question".
To flash any GingerBread flavor, do we need 3.x.x.x ou 2.5.x.x is working?
I haven't give CM7 a try yet, but I'm not sure if I need/want to upgrade to 3.x.x.x, 2.5.1.4 work well for me.

I got it too. No more crazy rebooting. I solve it by reformatting my SD card and recreating ext3. I guess 3.0.0.5 recovery messed up my ext3 partition. Now, MM CM14 is working pretty well. FYI, I am using 2.5.1.4 recovery.
Yeah it was working good till I try to do a restore, lets just say I;m up all night trying to restore my phone. I think my EXT partition messed up too as DTa2sd is giving me all kinda of headache.
doesn't work with MIUI for me!
don't understand that, but luckily its not a big deal flashing older versions!

I hear you there! That was me last night! DON'T USE 3.0.0.5! The only fix I found to actually work was to completely format my SD card and then re-partition it, then use RA and a fresh install. What a pain in the arse!
Same thing here. Switched to 3.0.0.5, and the next thing, my ext was fried and I had to reformat the entire card. Could be coincidence, but...

I don't like ICS on my vivid i was going to put HoliRaider on my phone. But I have some questions, Do I just install the Rom over my ICS or do I need to uninstall it and then install holiraider. I just need to know the steps, or what to do.
Please help me
You can just CWM it on top of your current ICS setup. Remember to wipe data and cache after install.
Are you sure?
And if I do just put it on top of ICS can I download it on my phone and install it, then export it to my ad card or will I have to put it on my sd card from the computer?
You should be able to. HBOOTs are backwards compatible.
You do need to fastboot-flash the appropriate boot.img on your computer.
Put the ROM on your external SD, somehow.
Ok so what Rom would you recommend? Besides ICS

Honestly, I'm a fan of stock debloated ROMs when it comes to HTC Sense. If you want the top of the line with respect to GB-based ROMs, go with HoliRaider. It's by far and away the best available. Plus, not built on putrid ATT base or themed with ATT's faux-G rubbish.
Thank you I really appropriate your help
be careful when you do that since now you have the ics radio, i had some issues when going back to gb, biggest problem is that i cant use the speaker phone because it keeps causing an echo and everyone i talk to keeps hearing themselves back many times. i didn't have that issue before i ran the ics ruu and i dont have that issue on the ics roms, i think that's the reason for that, can't think of anything else. if u downgrade, let me know what happens with u
I've had my Bell I9000m for almost two years now. I've loaded lots of roms (at least 8) and right now running hacksung v17.
My phone seems to be working just fine, but;
After all this time would it be worthwhile to flash back to stock rom and then mod again? I am just thinking all those older roms I flashed must of left junk behind on the phone.
Will I have to root my phone again?
I have never done this before, I have read lots of threads and have the stock KG3 rom ready to go.
I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure that you would have to re root but I don't know if it would completly format the phone.
If every thing is running fine there is no reason to return to stock,it is the stock firmwares that contain the "junk", as long as you clear caches, data every once in a while when flashing a new update or new rom then you will be fine , and yes if you go back to stock you will have to re root it before starting again.
Ok, let me put it this way.
Is there anyway I can completely wipe out the phone (all the folders.. etc) without going back to stock and then flash Hacksung 7 again?
thanks
Format SD card?

Has nothing to do with the internal memory. So really is pointless.
You would just have to wipe cache , data and dalvic then reflash rom and gapps( nadroid backup first tho.)

[standard flashing disclaimer here]
Wipe everything in the mounts and storage menu in recovery, except sdcard and emmc. Then flash like any other rom.
DOWNLOAD ODEXED - MD5

If you want a little more customized and tweaked rom check out Touch Of Blue, also updated to 4.08.605.15. Touch Of Blue v2.2

Correct, i think. It is probably safest to wipe everything, but might be able to be flashed over wildstangs rom.
cool
I'm gonna wipe everything. I've experienced 1 too many bootloops and hicupps specially with cyanogenmod. My Dinc just never seems to like those Roms
Thank you for this. Been thinking of going to a more stockish rom. The latest roms just have too many bugs and quirks for me.

I literally flashed over wildstang83 Rom . I'm gonna attempt another try but wipe the cache and delvik 1st. Wiping everything didn't do anything. I'll report back soon
Not booting..
Not getting to boot animation... I have tried 3 times now.. Wiped everything..Format boot/storage etc... Anyone get it to work?
I was actually surprised and excited to see this update this morning but thought it would be ICS.
Long ago I rooted my phone just for gaining control and removing bloatware but ended up flashing my first rom with WildStang's Gingerbread OTA. After that I applied the "Warm" theme and been happy with that thinking there would be no more updates to this phone.
To the point - my question for you all is what do you mean by flash over? When the OTA is pushed is it just a patch or do they somehow send and entire install which removes the previous version, saves your data, installs the new version, and puts back your data? I don't have a problem with wiping and starting fresh, and it sounds like that is what everyone is recommending, I'm just trying to understand how it would even work flashing "over" my current version.
Nobody has replied to my post and I have not seen anyone report a trouble free install here so I'm gonna sit on the fence for a while
Did a full wipe and all seems to be working well
?
Just downloaded VR superwipe. I'm gonna redownload this Rom and give it another shot.

Flash over is just how it sounds. Literally flash on top of your current rom without wiping your data out.

I have a question.
I am running an ICS ROM how does this affect me....
Well my QUESTION is this:
What are the procedures to installing this and can I just reflash the ICS ROM I was on before.
The only updates with this push seem to be SMS and Bluetooth, is it even worth it?
Thanks for your time guys....
I performed a data/factory reset, cleared the cache partition as well as did a dalvik wipe but after installing it gets stuck on the white Incredible screen. Any ideas? Perhaps my kernal/radio? I honestly lost track of what kernal and radio I have so I am not sure.
So what's up with this ROM, I flashed like 3 times And it boots up.....then it starts a random reboot and just bootloops continuously. Is there any fix?
EDIT: seems the OTA update was a bust check this out........

So guy - you put this out here and it seems like everyone is having problems. How about some feedback. I'm getting ready to sell this phone in two weeks and want it to be on the current version but I'm not touching this ROM until I hear it freakin works. There are always a few people with issues but I'm not hearing anyone saying "flashed it and running with no problems". Appreciate the effort to get this out there but if your gonna take the time follow through on your commitment.
