Here is a concept I came up with for a custom lockscreen on android. Basically all you do to unlock it is to connect the two rings using multi-touch (basically pinching them together). Of course I haven't made it cuz I'm not to good with making apps and such, I mostly do graphics. If a rom cooker such as Cyanogen, Jester, justanothercowd, kingklik, ccyrowski, etc. wants to try to make it useable in one of their builds feel free to PM me. Again this is not an app or a finished product that can be used right now, but is an idea or a concept of a custom lockscreen. idk if it can actually be made or anything. Please post some feedback and maybe we can discuss a way on how to get custom lockscreens. I will b willing to make some more too.

Nice concept, would like to see this developed.
Free bump for you.
I created something similar with but with only one circle like the ophone unlock. It would not be hard to make work with multitouch if only i had multi touch hardware.

so it is perfectly possible?
Having to pinch those two rings together every time I wanted to unlock my phone would be a nightmare.
lol i like it... but i wonder how close u can truly pinch!... lol..but its a nice idea.. maybe just to have the circles touch...
its like a drunk test lol..
I don't *think* its possible because the G1 is not true multi-touch. The multi-touch we have is emulated and doesn't detect the position of two "touches". Instead, it detects the distance between the two touches allowing us to multi-touch zoom, but not much else. Sorry if I rained on your parade, but I might be wrong!

Is this available anywhere?
It is not. i did not know how much interest there would be, so i never polished it. I guess i could wrap it up for release.
As for the pinch idea it depends on the hardware, it is not possible on the g1 becuase the screen does not support multi touch, only very very crude one.

It'll require both hande to unlock, one to hold phone & second to pinch.

Yeah but how cool would it be to show it off, and be like "Try and find this app on the market!!!" lmao. It's merely a concept of what would be cool to have as a lockscreen.

Yeah, you can chop, sample, mix, effects, and just about anything else you can do with a full sized drum machine. I know this is an extremely complex app, so chances are, we're SOL. but here's to wishful thinkin!!!
Yes this could be good, plug your TP into a mixer, brings a whole new capability to the device.
I also think though, that to port such an app would be an enormous task.
+1 on wishful thinking
Close thread
I think it's safe to say we can go ahead & close this thread. It's not getting too much interest, so i'm assuming it's either damn near impossible to port, or none of the dev's are really willing to give it a shot. Hopefully someone will drop a similar program from WM.
can somebody please port this i need this in my life.

no my friend... while these are all nice apps, they are NOT beat maker. None of the afore mentioned apps have a full functioning drum machine built into it. Not to mention, NONE of the apps allow for 3rd party plug-ins like Pro-Tools export, rewire, t-racks, etc. Beat Maker is the real deal. I'm seriously debating buying a iTouch SIMPLY for this app!!
Maybe you should contact the maker of the App and see if he would port it himself. Maybe he's already making a WM version to sell on the Windows Marketplace.
For the record, I would also be willing to pay to get a port of this app.

damn, why on EARTH didn't i think of this myself?! i might have to look into this.
i have this app "phoenix Studios" and i love it but its not vga and i stop using it because i didnt have enought memory to keep it going on my old ppc6700.
i almost got an iphone just to get that drum machine apps.
Wouldn't the fact that Raphaels do not have a capacitive touchscreen really hinder this Apps original functionality/awesomeness?
Our touch screens are resistive, and are thus incapable of multitouch like an iphone or g1 for example. (I have seen a demo of multitouch on a supposedly resistive screen around on the nets, but never seen a resistive device with multitouch capabilities released) http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/19/stantums-mind-blowing-multitouch-interface-on-video/ here's the vid
Just a thought, hope your dreams aren't too dashed.
no need to multitap and such.. we just gotta contact the maker of beatmaker and see if hes brewing a version for WM6.1 platforms!
so is this thing ported yet?
Omniano the Band, is the closest thing to date. The other would be Little Snazzy Drummer, which has a free Lite version as well as a paid version. Neither of these are quite as complex as the app. you mentioned, though I find them both very usable and entertaining.
Anyone seen this yet?

----------------------------------------------------------
lol i agree most of em look the same, but i do believe future phones will be in a form of whats in the pic, remember the futuristic vehicles which were just concepts a few years ago? 2009 those vehicles are real, just imagine what the phones will look like in 2015, who thought that we would have gps, cameras and be able to watch movies on our mobiles lol, i welcome those flat buttons anytime, once the keyboard is decent... razr had it, but what blown the razr away was the fact that all motorola sold was a thin phone with no functionality, now they wanna play catchup with the razr v8 and v9, too late now...
once the designers and makers get it right, i bet flat buttons can be just as great as raised buttons
its a nice concept, i bet if this was revealed by SE the entire universe would be drooling on their keyboards over this, but hey, its only a concept
haha~flat?thin? Because some one just fabricated it by "photo shop" ,not by CAD,
remember the razr flat and thin style was the wow back then, when every phone was a 'brick'... now what? the iphone is thin, i wont be surprised if apple doesn't release an iphone with a flat keyboard either...look at the kiki, u can bet those buttons are gonna be kinda touch surface of some kinda new innov...
if it can be a thought, it was either done or it can be done

What do you think about it? Is this is a really revolution?
I think this phone looks very nice with a stunning UI. The technical specs are nothing special, but this could be quite a hit i think.
thats a savage ass phone, you kno what would be sick tho if you could change the color of all the LED's on it two from blue to like purple or something. It's linux it should be fully customizable like that
I love the look of this phone. Very appealing. I will be interested in seeing more about it.
This would be the perfect MP3 Player. But for a smartphone, I do not know if it will offer the extreme flexibility of any of the four TRUE smart phones: Symbian S60, Windows Mobile, Android.
Does this phone have a file system, etc? Also, does Palm Pre and Palm Pixi have a file system and file manager too?
But I've seen this phone before, and I was excited, and still am.
I just don't expect it to be smart-centric. I expect it to be more like a Zune HD experience with some "quasi-smart" features like on the iPhone.
Original Poster, I think you should compile links on the first post and make this the official ELSE anticipation and discussion thread.
More Links http://else.bz/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amk7XzgMcTs&feature=related
But there are a few things I would like to know more about this phone.
*Judging by the Flash Videos, the keyboard on the phone sucks (but there are some pretty cool features). But the reason why it sucks is mainly due to the layout and size of the keys both in portrait and qwerty.
*I haven't seen any file manager. Will it be on this phone, and how complex is it?
*Speaker quality?

He was talking about the buttons being on the right side of the phone. Easier for us left-handers to use. I don't think you can change hardware location in settings
Use it upside down maybe!! too bad for you!! Does look interesting, but not entirely better than tab bars and such.. it does have that added sliding left feature and I guess it being capacative would not require much tension from the thumb. I am always up for new technology to push the limits.

Wow, maybe the device will not only have rotate orientation buy also flip orientation. That would be awesome!
It's all going to come down to how they market this phone. It looks great and definitely has appeal to those of us with a technical background and who love customization. But what carrier will they market it to? Can it be customized to settings that people find interesting such as led colors, programs, etc? and the biggest one: WHO will they allow to carry the operating system. Getting google to back this would be great, getting Nokia to make a phone able to support this would be great, but which one will have the advertising budget to challenge Apple and the like to the duel that will occur when this and the next generation of iphones is released? A small company like Access is going to have a really hard time trying to compete with Motorola, Nokia, Google, Samsung and Apple especially.
I'm sorry for reviving a dead thread, but does anybody know the name of this phone and the maker? I think the phone failed to launch and the maker went out of business and that's making it hard for me to find any information on this. A name should help, thanks.
The Linux based smartphone have actually been out for awhile. I think (Don't hold me to word on this) there is one called tuxphone. But I'm not sure if that's Linux based when I think back on it...

The most thing about Android that is Linux based is it's kernel but a lot of it is actually Java, especially the apps.

I bought the EVO Shift in part because I wanted to play emulated games. A company called Game Gripper makes these pretty cool attachments to use with physical keyboards. It is basically a button overlay that is shaped and functions like a console controller. I put a picture of one below. They have gotten pretty good reviews. If you are interested in the attachment you should head over to the Game Gripper website and put in a request. I don't know how many requests they need before they produce a Game Gripper but the more they get the better the chances they will produce one. The EVO Shift is actually listed on their request form so maybe they are developing or getting ready to develop one already. You don't even have to enter your email or anything.

Looks like they won't need to make phone specific versions anymore.
^ Shift Faced
Wow, that's cool. The only turn off for me would be the normal one is $15 and that one is around $50. I would definitly be interested in it if I didn't have a keyboard though.
True. But you wouldn't have to buy a new one if you got a new phone. I like that.
^ Shift Faced
But I'd much rather have a cheaper piece that just snaps on to the keyboard, then it doesn't require an app/having the bluetooth radio on. Emulators burn enough battery as is.
I put in a request for this this morning before even seeing this post. Looks like great minds think alike. I came from the EVO just so I could have a keyboard for emulated games...
I sent a request for it a while ago and they told me to keep checking that it would become available at some point.
Anyone have an update at all on this? I am dying to get a game gripper on my phone.
I just got a shift, coming from a Samsung Moment, and was trying to remember what the company was called making these. I don't think it took long for when they had the Samsung Moment request form up and when they started to make them.
I was looking at these earlier this week (I fell in love with psx4droid) and there is probubly no chance they're going to make one of these for the shift. I mean common, this isn't the most popular phone, I wish it was though.
Btw the emulators gensoid, n64iod, gameboid, every ____oid have all been removed from the market, but they are FREE on the slideme appstore. Don't worry they were put on by the dev, not pirated.
Pls click 'thank' if this helped!!
No I'm not using Tapatalk... I'm using the XDA Premium app, cause I got balls.
I have been using the Tiger emulators since they are free but allow you save states. They are still available.
I like the tiger ones better. And fpse is a far better ps emulator. Stuck with N64oid though.
Put in my request for one this would really be awesome.

Nice, hopefully they eventually make one for us. The Epic had one at this point in it's life cycle so we'll see.
Don't Think...
To my knowledge, when I play emulated games, it will only register 2 keys at once, I can push a third, but it doesn't do anything, even if I have it registered. I don't think a physical one is possible cause of this, but a bluetooth one (assuming we can find one that sends the correct frequency for those still stuck on the gb update) would work just fine.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I may just have a faulty unit, or there is something we can do like the epic users did to stop them from dropping keys when they typed too fast, that might help us here is I'm not the only one with this problem.
Ive been making a few custom Live Wallpapers and Im looking for people to test them on there phones.
Please let me know your make and model and any other info that would help me with any trouble shooting issues.
Thank you..

First one to test I guess.. I tested this LWP on my SE Xperia Mini ST15i which has a mdpi screen. My first impression is that what i saw on your post is really what it looks like as a LWP. I thought it would really look like the plasma crystal ball thingy, when you touch those it would create electrical connection.
When I move or switch panels in homescreen and appdrawer the LWP pauses. I don't know if that's really how it works.
I suggest it would look like those plasma crystal ball thingy where at the center of the screen is a swirling small plasma ball then when users touch the screen it would make like a electrical connection effect. And maybe the users could also change colors or define where the swirling small plasma ball would at the screen or change the background not just black, that would be awesome! You can sell that at the android market and a make a fortune!
I hope this helps. Just try it step-by-step.hehehe.

It's a good start. I don't even know how to do those stuff. My suggestions were a user's/consumer's point of view. I'm also new to this mobile development, heck I haven't even start developing something. I just got my first android phone last month. Anyway I also tried the LWP on my default home launcher, launcher 7 and Go Launcher EX and it works. Though I can't test if how much it consumes battery cause I don't know how do those stuff. Also after unlocking the screen (I'm using Widget Locker) it won't start immediately, it takes a few seconds or when touching the screen to start the animation.
