I have looked all over for either instructions, pictures, videos, etc. for help in taking my phone apart safely to replace this. Any information would be greatly appreciated as I have searched the forum and I don't know if I just can't think of the right words to search for a thread on this subject or if just a rare few exist because I have looked all over. THANK YOU
in my case i had an extra kaiser and i just replaced the boards and that wasnt hard at all. i no you can google and find a how to take apart guide. ill go look for u
did you look in the WIKI?
everyone says the WIKI is a great place to start for ANYTHING related to your kaiser...and i just went there and saw a sub-heading for "Disassembly Pictures" that link to Mike Channon's Service Manual and Disassembly Guide.
its probably what you have been looking for all along...the sticky at the top of the general forum says "Before you post start here!"...and the WIKI is one of the links there, go figure!
hope this helps

Hi all,
There was so much information all over the place (different threads, wiki, etc.), that I decided to create one page to pull it all together. The page can be found here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wizard Windows Mobile 6 for newbies
If there's something wrong, something I missed, something you want to add, etc., be my guest and put it in. However, please do not link to other pages. I want to specifically avoid a proliferation of links that will leave a newbie pulling his hair out. I also want to hear comments. Thanks all.
Great abd easy to read
Thanks for putting that together! I wish I had found this earlier.

Actually its quite good but you could add also the instructions on how to update a G4 They can now be CID Unlocked by HardSPL, meaning we can flash a ROM that doesn't have any IPL/SPL info on them like in G3, using the RUU.

GREAT TUTORIAL!! Something like this should have been written up sooner.
Now to get the newbies to actually read it...
I have posts all over this forum so I am going to add a link to your tutorial in the Wiki to my signature. Maybe that will get it more exposure.
EDIT:: I took the liberty to add tutorials to your WIKI page for HardSPL, SoftSPL, and how to Remove HardSPL. All credits for the WIKI page are still yours.
dharvey4651,
Thank you for your contribution. I own a G3, so I have no idea about G4's, which is why I never put that portion of the tutorial in. I want to put in a few other things (i.e how to change the bootscreen, etc.), so I'll do that over the next couple of days.
EDIT: I took out that bit about the shelltool because I didn't think it's be relevant to a newbie who probably won't know what a shelltool is. He'll find out more about it once he starts reading the forums.
The rest,
Thanks for your kind words. Just giving something back.

Well I also have a G3. It's completely fried, but it's a G3.
I used to have a G4 and I know how hard it was to find a good tutorial for G4 devices so that is why I took it upon myself to create one and add it to your already outstanding tutorial.
I put the link to this tutorial in the front page of the wizard wiki. Hope people read it. :?

One could only hope. Unfortunately, I don't think it will happen. Now if the Wiki was the Home page and you could acess the forum through the Wiki that would be ideal.
Ok i'm new to the pda phone software customization, and the acronyms nd short hand has got me turned around, upside down and backwards.... i've been reading about the cooked roms and apps, and it all looks cool and i'm psyched about being able to get rid of the ATT rom on my tilt but how to go about doing it all can be quite confusing..... PLEASE HELP! i'm lost
thx in advance
Read the wiki and spend time reading these threads - it's all here. Start with the ROM Upgrading section - people have spent a lot of time laying it out for you. I got from where you are to cooking my own ROMs with just the information provided. Once you've read all that, if you are still having trouble, feel free to PM me.

kewell... it will prolly take some time considering i'm on a borrowed puter with a borrowed wifi connection, but i will give it a shot and see what i can come up with
oh look, someone made this just for you, title says it all.
to be honest, I know we harp on people, but knowledge is the key, without it your bound to screw your phone up. Read my sig... This is truely all you really need to get your phone flashed and even fixed if you think it's bricked. I can't say 100% that it won't happen, but I would say that if you read this and search through the threads for any questions that you may come across, you should be ok. It seems over whelming but it's easy.
Sticky: Have a question? Read this before posting! All answers here (see post 3 for FTP lnk)

I was scared at first.
read the wiki..it really helps i remember i had my tytnii for a few months before i actually decided to flash and i remember searching everything about it and reading all the relevent posts/stickies to grasp a good general knowledge so i dont have to search and stuff while i flash...its better to know beforehand
Has anyone purchased a new housing kit for their Kaiser/tilt who may be able to provide a do-it-yourself instructions to do so?.. if so.. please link me some reliable instructions so that i get it right the first time
Was the teardown that is already out there not complete enough?

where at? are you talking about the actual device or a page that shows things in detail?
The one that shows you with pictures how to take the phone apart.
Gamergee: Generally, most guys out here just plain hate newbies. I guess they were born with a kaiser already stuck in their butt and rather waste their time posting useless teasing crap instead of helping out or pointing the newbie into the right direction.
You can find the complete disassembly instructions here: http://www.pdacenter.ru/razborka/razbor_htc_kaiser/
This link was taken from the XDA-Wiki under Kaiser Devices. Check it out. It has tons of useful stuff.
Good Luck and let us know how it went.

More like we worked for the knowledge and rarely had someone hold our hands through learning.
So just because you had it hard so lets make it hard for the newbies. That doesn't work for me. I appreaciate the Wiki feature but it isn't the answer to all things or this forum would be dead quiet.
This isn't personal. This thread has 4 posts and 70 views. What does that tell us? In my view it means:
20 newbies looked into it because of similar doubts hoping to find an answer that didn't come thru.
20 senior members looked into it and gave a crap about this newbie and didn't even bother to answer
20 variate members just browsed through it without any particular interest or knowledge to answer
the remaining 10 views are probably you, me and Gamergee
Something is wrong here.
You can download the HTC Service Manual that I have uploaded here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/148077399/HTC_Kaiser_Service_Manual.rar
It has a lot of things and how to disassemble the Kaiser.

Where did you buy the case for tytnII, and how much is it? I have to replace mind too.
I just feel like the main rules to this forum should be followed, just as most senior folks have done. At least when I tell you that you didn't search I know the answer is out there.
Read and search before posting.
Reply to an existing thread before creating a new thread.

i was in this site before, but i cannot find something usefull in it. The only tutorial i found there it's in a language i cannot understand and don't show anything about that front keypad...
Please does anyone know something to help me?
If you are talking about the sticky in one of the subforums of General section on XDA-DEVS. Seems doesn't need to read the language, reading pictures should be enough.
Hey all,
So rather... inconveniently my Dream has died and the replacement that was sent to me is already flashed with the new retard-o firmware.
I have been reading and re-reading everything on the forums and think I understand what I need to do to get root access again, but I want to ensure I am going down the right path.
If I understand correctly I need to create a gold card. Is this right? Is there another way I should go about this? Can someone break down what i need to do now (or point me in the right direction)?
Much appreciated, and yes I do realize all this info is already out there, but these threads are full of pages and pages of people complaining about rogers. While I can understand, finding this exact information is now near impossible because of the flood of off topic posts. I don't my phone to die... again.
Thanks in advance.
you are asking in the wrong section
questions go in the QnA section - and even then, this question has been asked and answered numerous times
funny...i have just found the answer in 3 seconds flat by googling "root rogers dream"
little tip - try it some time
Moved as not Android Development.

First I already made it clear that I was having trouble picking out the information and am looking just for some simple confirmations. I apologize for it being in the wrong spot, but really did you need to spam the thread with two posts just to be a jerk?
If you are going to gripe about my post then perhaps you should follow the rules and not uselessly double post for emphasies. Do as I say not as I do?
And to be clear, yes Ive read the 82 page long how to post, its so convoluted and filled with whining that I am just looking for some clarification. Its called looking for help, I was under the impression that is what this forum was for.
Hey, this is the guide I used to root mine: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4280573#post4280573
Don't know if it will work with the retard-o-rom though. I didn't upgrade. Just told them it was done, they asked for the build number and I told the technician "Ohh my phone restarted itself sorry....Just need a moment....What number should I be looking for?" He then told me the number...I waited a few seconds and then said..."yup, that's the one" lol. He said okay and did the network refresh and i have my data back.
Thank you for your response TheDong, unfortunately the latest ROM does not allow for fast booting or flasrec. I am under the impression that I will need to downgrade my phone first, but this is where I am a bit sketchy on the process and if is in fact the right step. Or the path to having another broken phone.
So just to be clear; I have a new rogers HTC Dream with the most recent Rogers ROM. My data is active as I have the latest ROM (forced upon me because its a replacement phone.) I have previously rooted a phone, but that phone was replaced by rogers due to a hardware defect.
This is something that is going to start coming up a lot, I imagine. Rogers does not ship the phone without the latest firmware. I have yet to find something that is clear on the post-force upgrade solution.

Hi Soundwav,
Double-posting occasionally happens when the forum is slow to respond and a member clicks Submit Reply a second time assuming that the first submit did not register the first time around.

Yeah, think you're right. But try to understand that there are lots of new users asking questions that have been asked lots of times... Allthough, i think your question ist legitimate.
And: garok89's is no accidental doubleposting.
But anyways, keep cool. Hope, you will find adequate help, dude.
