What can I do with bluetooth obex?
Anyone else not able to search xda using the stock g1 browser?
with bluetooth obex you can send and receive files via bluetooth as long as both devices are rooted.
both devices have to be rooted? Perhaps I am reading into that too much but you can't mean we can only share with other android phones right?
I saw it says bluetooth FTP... which made me wonder if I was missing something, like if I could do stuff with my computer remotely. What is the significance of FTP on this apps name *when you open it*.
Sorry, would be nice if you could search on here using the G1s browser.
Bluetooth File Transfer Protocol meaning its a program used to transfer files over the Bluetooth Frequency.
so it is android to android only then?

Nope, I connected to my iMac. It can share with any other device that has the bluetooth file sharing enabled/available.

connected to my friends nokia 6265i ... its a regular phone not a smartphone .. was able to view his files and everything ... loving the new bluetooth app
ok so then how do you enable the file sharing etc on android ? I was trying to test with a friend of mine who has an android, and was unable to find the setting any ideas? thanks!
Yeah, my buddy has an iPhuckinsuck, we let our phones become available, we scanned, we paired, but then we could not connect, even after I entered the correct PIN for his phone.
Perhaps I just don't know how to connect, but I have yet to connect with a phone correctly. Same scenario with my wife's BB. Could not connect.

Is it at all possible to connect the Hero to a computer and transfer data via bluetooth so I don't have to connect the cable every time? I have searched but not been able to find anything relevant. One form said that most roms did not have the capability but just wondered if it was possible.

Well, I'm not sure what type of data you want to transfer. For me, I just needed to copy files and install/uninstall apps and not sync data since I just use the Google cloud for syncing. So, I use WiFi instead of Bluetooth via the 'ADB Wireless' app. Then, i use third party tools like 'Android Commander' for example, to copy files back and forth and native ADB commands to install/uninstall apps over WiFi.
i have nokia nuron (5230) and it allows sharing of the internet via bluetooth. does the tab have any bluetooth profiles that will connect to my nuron and allow the it to get to the internet? i cant actually try it right now since i am on CM7 and bluetooth isnt working properly. let me know if anyone has tried something similar. thanks.
android does not provide reverse DUN or PAN bluetooth access to other devices
however
I had another tablet that you could use an app that let you connect to other phones using the DUN capabilities.
I could connect my old nokia to the tablet and it really worked, but I couldn't do the same on my X10 nor my G1, I suspect the Gtab would be the same case(mainly for the lack of bluetooth profiles on the tab)
If you want the apk I could send it to you if you or another member want to test it and figure it out how to make it work
willing to try anything at this point. PM sent.

Anybody have any luck with this? I have a G Tablet and having a similar issue..
I'm following this thread, anyone success with this solution. I'm using galaxy tab of verizon.
I have searched this topic but they all centered on Macs or got off topic or someone gave an answer that didnt even solve the solution. So i thought i would ask myself. Is there any way to share my LAPTOPs wifi TO my DROID3???

to the poster above; i dont like smarta**es. my post said i already searched so if you found something then post a link.
to everyone else i want something via usb or bluetooth. preferably usb. i have googled it and all the results are either hardware specific, need unbunto [i have windows 7] or dont have a solution. If you ever owned a zune [who has? lol besides a few of us] or a windows phone, they can do it from stock.

I have a bluetooth usb adapter on my laptop I am not sure how it does it but it allows me to get online with my droid 3 via the bluetooth link, I click on connect via access point and it works. Sometimes it works and sometimes the signal gets killed, but try connecting through a bluetooth usb adapter.
I know you said preferably over Bluetooth or USB but have you considered trying something like a virtual access point for your PC? It would require WIFI but you could run a software app on your PC that broadcasts as an access point that you could connect to from your phone.
You have a phone that is wifi capable, but you want to thether to your pc to use the wifi connection.
Oh and I hate smartasses too.

ASUS bluetooth adapter I got it from meritiline a couple years ago, just been using it recently. And all I did was turn on the bluetooth on my phone and it worked, didn't download any software or anything.

Ifnyou have windows 7 just install connectify
Google it (smartassingly probably just add a .com to that..)
It adds an AP virtual. That sjould not spend alot more of power as you have already wifi running.

If you laptop has Bluetooth (It should, I thought all Intel wifi chipsets in laptops were also Bluetooth) then what you want is a PAN "Personal Area Network". I thought the basic bluetooth stack in Windows supported this out of the box. (The Toshiba BT stack I used with Windows XP did, I don't know for sure about the MS BT stack in Windows 7 though).
Then you just turn on Internet Connection Sharing for you Wifi adapter to the Bluetooth PAN adapter.
Something like that anyway. I'm going from memory on the Windows side, and assuming the Droid 3 (etc.) supports PAN on its Bluetooth setup.
Doing it with USB though is trickier. On Windows 7, my ME863 appears as a network device with IP address, but I don't know if it'd work if I simply used ICS to share a link to the device because I don't know that the phone would be looking for a DHCP server. (It _is_ a DHCP server at this point)
Are you sure your not using the phones 3g or wifi. Did you try turnin on airplane mode and seeing if you still have internet

I just had a play, and I don't think my bluetooth solution is as easy as I'd hoped.
My Milestone 3 was able to join a PAN with my laptop and form their little adhoc network.
The best phone-side instructions I could find are at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=666988 however a look around suggests that Windows 7 ICS won't let you share a network connection _to_ a BT network. I certainly couldn't see a way, although possibly it was because my phone is exporting a default gateway, rather than because of any inherent limitation of Windows.
It's a starting point, but not a particularly promising one. Whether ICS can be made to share Internet to the bluetooth PAN or not is really the only sticking point for "possible" versus "impossible" but a root-enabled App or possibly custom ROM would be needed on the phone to move from "possible" to "easy".

http://social.technet.microsoft.com.../thread/84731dc8-0b23-433b-a58b-a0a2d41d93be/ suggests that a third-party Bluetooth stack would work though, just not the MS stack.
Okay seriously!! I have not been able to share photos with anybody at all via BT, WTF? What is the use to have this feature at all? I am however able to receive from other devices but that is it. Like today I was able to receive content from a cheap Cricket Wireless phone but not send to it???? I've tried various phones including a Blackberry and an iPhone (which I know that iPhone blocks this). The only way I can send and receive via BT is from a laptop and that's it!!!! This is worse than the DFT hack version of BT file transfer.

You can only transfer from WP8 to WP8 and expected to support all other platform free support in future updates.

What the? Are you serious? I don't know anyone else besides myself with a Windows Phone; and I am not just saying that. So who am I supposed to share content with via Bluetooth? OMG, out of the 600 + employees at work I'm the only one with a WP8 device.
Are you kidding ?????
I can send any pictures via bluetooth from my Lumia 820 to any device with bluetooth. You first need to pair your WP8 phone with the device to which you want send file and accept data transmission. Before the moment I checked with the Nokia E52 - works as it should.
I just sent a Picture from my Lumia 920 via Bluetooth to my SGS2 and it worked just fine. I actually don't know what issue you are running into but the OS and Nokia device support this just fine.
What's not working is initiating BT File Transfers using NFC with an Android device. If you use regular Bluetooth for sharing there shouldn't be any issues. Another problem ist the iPhone but that is due to the fact that the iPhone does not support the standard OBEX object push protocol for Bluetooth (which is what basically everyone else is using).

Hum, that is strange. I don't get it then. It must be specific to the 822 or something.

Yea, on this last phone it tried it on it even had the option to enable OBEX; I paired the phones and everything and the other phone was able to send to my Windows Phone but anytime I tried to send something it would say error, the connection was lost even though they were connected.
I didn't even pair the phones - just set the SGS to be visible via Bluetooth, on the Lumia selected a picture to send via Bluetooth, it found the SGS and I said send. The SGS then asked if I wanted to receive the data which I confirmed and some time later the transfer was done and I was able to open the image without any problems.
What have you been trying to send?
I have also been able to send photos. Have you got bluetooth turned on before trying to send the photo? I've found that if bluetooth is off, then it's not an option to share.
The key for me is to make sure that Bluetooth is enabled before trying to share. Once that's on, then tap and hold the photo, tap share... and then select bluetooth (other options being messaging, mail, facebook onenote, twitter)
It then shows me any discoverable devices weather they are paired or not.
Option for share is "touch and send" for picture this is not NFC but BT.
Touch and Share is NFC. It uses NFC to initiate a Bluetooth Transfer and this currently does not work between an Android device and Windows Phone. Activate Bluetooth in Settings and below Touch & Share you will get the option Bluetooth which works fine.
Hello.
How to block permanently the MAC address for one bluetooth device on rooted phone with TASKER?
You are looking to make sure your device never connects to that device?
Android will only pair with a device if it's been manually paired with to start with. Just don't pair that device and it can not connect to your phone.
Androidauto automatically connects to bluetooth after plugging the usb cable. I want to block the bluetooth connection to the car permanently (block MAC address)
I don't use Android Auto. A quick search on Google help pages seems to suggest the same thing. Go into Bluetooth settings and "forget" the car.
This solution not working (android auto automatically connect phone with car radio when plugged usb)
Well, yes, that's how Android Auto works. If the car or at least the radio is Android Auto, then when you plug in the USB, Android Auto launches and streams media and navigation through the USB.
However, the phone should go over Bluetooth, so if you remove the car/head unit from the phone's Bluetooth ("forget it"), then calls should go to a headset or some other Bluetooth device.
Are you trying to avoid having AA launch at all when plugged in?
You are rooted.. just disable Bluetooth completely. No Bluetooth for Android Auto and for everything  .. kmm how to do it in tasker is the real question
I disabled Bluetooth on my 2nd phone (connected to Android Auto, constantly connected, I just leave it in car) and my main phone is connected via Bluetooth (for calling, music, etc).
That's just one solution.
second solution is cloning mac adresses (both phones have same mac). But it doesn't work on all HURs (restrictions).
Good luck

Hi. I am also looking for a solution to the bluetooth problem.
In my case, I cannot disable the bluetooth services, since I need the bluetooth to connect with the ABD2 Adapter.
Is there any other solution?
I have looked for information on how to change to put the same bluetooth MAC on both phones but cannot find it.
Could you help me?
Thank you

Go search in Android Auto section there you'll find multiple threads about 2 phones connections. Basically 2 phones have same MAC but in some HUR(radio media system) fails. So, there is no universal solution. It depends on your HUR.
Good luck.

Hi. I have searched several forums. In one of the threads, where the MAC change is discussed, they do not explain how to do it. Editing the EFS / Bluetooth / bt_addr file does not measure the mac address.
Changing the MAC is the only thing I couldn't prove yet.
You know how to change the mac I would be very grateful
Thank you

Omfg really?? ? https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/android-auto-general/aa-phones-t3741671
Whats this link do? ? search is working I guess.
And you don't need to change MAC but you need to spoof it. Use (ed)xposed module to do so or you can try manualy ?.
Good luck.

Thank you very much, but for you to see that I use the search engine, the last one that wrote in that thread is me.
I tried exposed, but it was not trivial, since Edexposed and magisk gave me some problems. I tried some exposed modules but they failed. (of course I'm not the most expert).
I'm going to look for how to do it manually ...... I look for it with the term spoofing? some other search term?
Thanks for the patience and don't be mad !!!!
