Facebook Status Updates Not Working - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys,
Whenever I check on mine or other people's status updates from their profile pages (not from live feed) all I get is some garbled syntax instead of the proper update.
Had this issue with 2 different ROMs so far, anyone else have this problem?

Used the microsoft app and m.facebook.com, no problems for me. Haven't tried it with the FB panel yet.

same here my option for the 'show status updates' is greyed in the sync menu and cant activate it. running 2.3.3.
ive all the sync tabs checked and facebook syncs the photos etc but never been able to see status updates under the contacts
anyone experience and fix this yet ?

[Q] Facebook notifications

I have everything in my sync and also configured in my facebook settings to receive the notifications....But so far, I just receive one time...Is set to sync every 30min...But it worked one time only....
I know that is a know issue, I just would like to know if someone know how to fix that...
I wanted to receive notifications when i have messages, comments and new requests....
I just configured everything in the facebook settings on my phone...is still not working....
You did know you can activate your phone through Facebook to receive sms notifications.
Sign into Facebook>Account>Account Settings>Mobile Tab
See if that will do what you want. Facebook sync is meh at best.
Added: "Standard messaging rates apply"
Facebook notification is badly broken across all android phones and there's no excuse for it

yeah i wish we had the iphones facebook notifications..the only good thing about the iphone lol
So still no fix for this? My notifications worked before the most recent Facebook app update. Way to go, Facebook.
If you use Hotmail for facebook, Just sync it via EAS in
Settings > Accounts and sync > Add account > Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
You will get notifications via hotmail instantly.

Guys, I know this is an old thread but I want to see if someone can confirm that notifications work with this facebook apk.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200174
It is a blacked out version which I honestly think is better without notifications, but I started getting them after installing. So if anyone could confirm it works for them, great! If not, I got lucky and at least we have a cooler looking version of facebook.

Problems with Google Calendars?

Tonight my Google calendar events in every calendar bar the default calendar stopped appearing in the phone. I can still see them in Google calendar via the web browser but they no longer appear in the calendar app. I've checked all the settings within calendar and the various Google calendars still appear there and are ticked to sync and show in the app but events from other calendars do not. Any ideas?
I had the same problem before. I fixed it by following the instructions from the quote below. This is from the google mobile help forum posted by BSteck. You should backup your default (on the phone) calendar before doing this.
Don't know if this is the best way to solve the problem, but this has worked for me.
On my HTC Phone (running Android 2.2), I went to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Running > Calendar Storage. I then pushed "Clear Data" and then "Force Stop" (because I wanted it to reload).
The phone paused for a brief moment when returning to Home and then the calendar was syncing to my gmail calendars. I figure that as long as all your information is backed up at gcal, you should be fine. Good luck!

Thanks. That worked.
No problem =]
Dunno why this happens but at least this fixes the issue. Annoying when you don't have calendars showing up.

Issues with Calendar on Blinkfeed and lockscreen notifications

Hello guys
As it is written on the thread name I just cant get my Calendar entries to show on Blinkfeed.
Furthermore my eMails from my Gmail account arent showing up on the lockscreen despite having it setted as "Productivity"
I hope some can help me, becaue those issues really bug me a lot.

Are you using the stock mail and calendar apps? Blinkfeed and the productivity lock screen only pull data from the stock apps.

Ok I use Gmail for my Mail account. That explains the lockscreen issue.thanks for that!
Is it right that with Android 4.2 we can use lockscreen widgets,so i can customize with Gmail?
In case of the calendar issue I am using the stock app, which was preloaded on the HTC One. Any more suggestions why it doesnt show up?

for the first question that'll depend. android 4.2.2 stock comes with lockscreen widgets. whether HTC decides to add them to their lockscreen setup is a completely other issue lols.
as for your second issue. check the blinkfeed topics and services section. scroll to the left and see what services you have toggled on. you have to have calendar on for it to show. it shows fine for me. also it does not pre-show events you have coming up only when the event is happening at that moment. so i have my calendar setup for my classes. say i have class at 3pm. blinkfeed will not tell me i have a class coming up at 3pm if i update it at 1pm. it will show up though when i update my blinkfeed around 3:20pm though. An interesting tid bit is if you have way too many topics and facebook stuff your calendar blinkfeed will get pushed down and you wont see it. (IE it wont have priority space on the blinkfeed area)
hopefully that helps explain it a bit.

Thanks for answering, but it still doesn't work. I guess it's my blinkfeed, which is bugged somehow and I can't see a way to get in working despite trying hard. Maybe I just have to live with this and adapt to it or wait for an update to fix this bug

Are you on a stock ROM? Or custom? I'm on ordroid 5.0.0 and it works fine. Are you sure your Google calendars are updating? Do you see stuff when you go into the calendar app?

It seems that Blinkfeed only show the calendar entries that is due for today. Try adding something in your calender for today and reboot your phone. It should show then.
Hey guys,
I know that this isn't a new topic, but I having some problems with my HTC ONE.
My calendar doesn't show the events, events is in it`s data base, but still not showing in application.
When i use search i can found my events.
My HTC is updated to android 4.3
I've tried to reconfigure the accounts, but have no effect.
I using the default application, that came with the phone.
Someone knows what I need to do for correct this issue?
Below some screenshots.
Same issue
I have "Contacts Birthday's and Events" calendar subscribed in my Gmail and I maintain the birthday dates of all my contacts in Gmail [format: December DD, YYYY]. In HTC calendar [Accounts] i checked the Google option and in that i checked "Contacts Birthday's and Events" option, which takes the birthdays dates from my Gmail contacts and sets reminders and notifications. But I am not able to see any notifications from the calendar.
Now, i have another option in HTC Calendar Accounts called "People (Birthdays & Anniversaries)" and i have no idea where this option came from and from where it takes the birthday data from but it displays the birthdays. The annoying thing is when an event is about to occur this People thing displays 4 reminders for the same event, which is irritating.
I want to know where this People option came from and from where its taking the data and why the hell cant i see the Gmail contacts birthdays through the "Contacts Birthday's and Events" option??? :crying:

[Q] Facebook active display

Does anyone have any problems with facebook notifications not appearing on the active display? Everything else seems to be working fine like my sms, email, calendar, but i'm not getting any facebook notifications to it. Also is there a way to extend how long a display shows up on a screen?

not sure about the 2nd question. Are you sure you have facebook set up in touchless controls to show up. You can select which apps show up in touchless controls and which don't
I think i found the problem. Facebook was checked in the settings. I did two things, not sure which worked. I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it. And I changed the account from my phone number to my email address and its working now. Maybe i added facebook before i set up the active display and it didn't get added properly.

Facebook contacts not syncing to People app no matter what I do.

Anybody have any suggestions? I have tried just about everything and I cannot for the life of me get it to sync properly. I go to accounts and add facebook. I check the sync contacts thing. I then go to contacts and try to link one and while the option for facebook is there it does not show any contacts. I have tried 3rd party syncing apps to no avail. I think it is a facebook issue/setting. Any ideas?
After tinkering around with some stuff I found out the issue is actually with the Facebook app. It seems they removed the feature to sync contacts. After some extensive research I found the latest version that they actually have the option in. The option itself is located by pressing the menu button then going to settings. It is the last option and has the name Sync Contacts. The last version that has this feature that I was able to find can be downloaded here.

I hope this helps somebody else.
