Hello everyone, This is my first post even tho I have been a member for quite some time.
I have an ATT HTC Tilt.
I have installed a WM 6.5 ROM from this site. I have added some additional apps and registry tweaks. Everything works just like I like it...now my question is how would I make an exact image of my ROM?
I have, in the past been learning and tinkering with it pretty much bricked it a couple times. Starting from scratch has begun to frustrate me. Can anyone Help with a link or some info on how to do this?

First off, I think it would be prudent to have a copy of the original Cingular 8125 ROM lying around, just in case anything goes wrong.
Since it's been removed from the HTC site (and is unavailable...I asked HTC tech support), I would like to ask if anyone on this site has the original WM5 Cingular ROM for the 8125?
Second, I have been researching ROMs, and like what I see. It never ceases to amaze me, the effort that is put in by the volunteers here in the XDA community. My sincerest thanks to you all, for keeping these wonderful devices alive and kicking!
In fact, I saw one that I really like the looks of. It has a "drop dead gorgeous" today screen that is inspired by WM7...and then there's the unadorned one that includes the Office suite.
Is there a ROM that combines both? I would cook it myself, but have *no* idea how to do that, yet. I do know that I'd probably run out of space, if I even tried.
My requirements for this phone are simple. I don't do MMS or any of that multimedia crap...I will use it for business and contacts management, and to diagnose/access wi-fi networks. The ability to use the Office suite would also be nice...otherwise a viewer suite. Is there any ROM that would work better for me, than any other?
Thanks!
Chuck
First, you can download the official cingular wm5 rom from this link:-
http://download.america.htc.com/RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship_1.exe
Secondly, all the cooks build roms to the best of their efforts and include applications/programs they like and are commonly required and used,so if you want a clean rom, then simply flash a vanilla rom and install programs/applications of your own wish and requirement or you can always remove any program which you don't use or desire to have, after you flash an upgraded custom build rom
Well, thank you! I found the official ROM last night, with a bit of searching (always search before asking a question...) but wasn't sure about which ROM to start with.
I did the unlocking, flashed to the TMobile ROM, then chose one of the TouchFlo ROM images. VERY nice. Only significant bug (so far) is that the camera button doesn't work...have to go in through the album and activate it from there.
WM6.1 looks NICE! I'm genuinely impressed with the progress we've made in just a few years, and on the identical hardware! I just wish Microsoft was half as talented as the volunteers here, on this site. It's amazing what y'all have managed to do.
Thank you for such a quick reply.

Thanz!
You are most welcome, glade you liked the efforts of cooks here
Grrrrrrrr8! kick ass cookers.....
Hi Chuck,
when you did the unlocking did you downgrade to the button rom first to unlock it? I am having so much trouble trying to get activesync to connect after i downgrade.
Activesync 4.5 on XP Pro. 8125, G3 device.
I downgraded to the Button ROM, then unlocked it. I then reupgraded it to my original Cingular WM5 ROM. (hadn't downloaded the TMo ROM yet). Then, I upgraded to the first of my WM6.1 ROM choices. It worked perfectly.
The instructions are all online...found them all on a single page last night, but I can't find it right now. Didn't bookmark it.

Check out this guide:-
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wizard Windows Mobile 6 for newbies
THAT'S IT!
That's the guide I used to do the downgrade/upgrade. They work perfectly, if you follow them. The only thing I didn't do was use the TMo ROM when I reupgraded to WM5, because I didn't yet have it...I used the Cingular WM5 ROM.
Worked perfectly.
What problem are you having with yours? Perhaps, if you were a little more specific, someone here could help you figure it out...details are always welcome.

SO...here i am...another newbie with another question which probably has been answered a thousand times... what can you do...
Anyway...just had to hard reset my HTC Touch Diamond and thought that maybe i should freshen it up a bit...ive read that there is a "new" update for touch flo...is it called manila or am i misinformed?
And how the hell am i supposed to install it on my precious mobile?
Is there a thread with a tutorial? Would greatly appreciate it if anyone could answer these questions...feel free to call me newb or slow!
TF3D...
Manila is HTC's 'project' name for TF3D (TouchFlo 3D). You can't officially get a newer version of TF3D without updating your ROM. Having said that, there are some manila mods knocking around this forum, but they're taken from Touch HD, or Touch Diamond 2 (work in progress).
The best thing to do is just make sure you're using a recent ROM, either official or cooked - that way you'll get the latest manila. It won't be any different than the one your device came with, though it may respond better (ie. faster)
Read the 'Themes, applications and software' & 'Diamond ROM development' forums, they will give you the most information
wiki - http://wiki.xda-developers.com/ for all such info
thx a lot guys! i just downloaded the ROM update from the support page...
it actually feels a little smoother now! and finally a good solution to the answer and hang up buttons when the phone rings... hated to hang up when the phone isnt out of the pocket yet
Apologies if this has already been asked before but it's tricky to search for stuff relating to "6.5" as it returns no results (and apologies if I'm being stupid and just doing it wrong!!).
I've taken the plunge a couple of nights ago and started trying different 6.5 Roms (haven't flashed my HD before), thanks to the superb flashing for dummies guide.
Problem is that I've now tried to add in SPB3 as it's one of my favourite apps and at least on NRG's rom it wouldn't open at all, and somehow mangled the contacts as well.
Does anyone know of a 6.5 rom where it will work ok?
Thanks & keep up the good work!
Jim
I haved allready used many different ROMS, Dutty, Miri, some Germans, and SPB3 runs on all of them.
Dont have any issues.
Look if the problem is something with your configuration. Do a hard reset and install it again. I dont believe, that WM 6.5 is a reason for the problems.
have a great day.

There is already a thread on SPB3 in Themes, Applications and Software forum.
If you look at the sigs of people a lot are using wm6.5 roms, so it sounds like your configuration or installation is wrong. Try asking in that thread please.

Hey i'm new here and I could use some help =]
First is that I currently use N95 but next week i'll get my first HTC which is Diamond, and for the first time i'll be using WinMO6.1 instead of Symbian.
So the first thing I do is research, and then I found out this place which I can already see that i'll be spending some good time tweaking my diamond, but after reading countless threads about ROMs and RADIOs and such I still don't get a few things, if you could explain it to me, I would be grateful.
1.Which ROMs are better? cooked (which I understand are user based) or the HTC ones?
2.I Currently live in israel, so hebrew is an important part of my day, so it goes without saying that I need to be able to read and write english. I Don't want the OS to be in hebrew, but atleast beeing able to read and write, so my question is, if I'll flash another ROM instead of the offical one i got from Orange (which contain hebrew), will I lose this option? and if I will, will i be able to install it again?
3.I Understand that the basic UI provided with the diamond is the Touchflo3D, but I also read something about Manilla, and another shell I can't remmember, would anyone care to explain to me about these shells? I Saw one shell that looked exactly like HTC Hero, but it wasn't Android OS, just the UI, Was that Manilla?
and my final request is this, this phone has been around for a long time , so naturally there are alot of ROMs for it and alot of tweaks, softwares and stuff like that, if someone can direct me to the most updated, trusted and stable releases i'd be very grateful!, I need the diamond to have decent battery, good signal, good music player (very important for me) and if possible, i'd love the Theme that looks like the HTC Hero OS .
Thanks to anyone who spent time on reading all of this and I can't wait to get my hands on the diamond
P.S
Sorry for my english by the way.
hey guys my names marc and im pretty much completely new to flashing cooked roms. ive flash oem roms on my tilt before but when it comes to trying to find a good crooked rom or even really just how to do it correctly without bricking my phone im at a lost. Reading all the stuff is starting to make it highly confusing lol. Im really just trying to find a good stable wm 6.5 rom maybe with a couple tweaks for my phone bc im so tired of this basic 6.1 i have on my phone right now with all the gayness that insuades from it with all the bugs and lags. If any of you guys could help that would be awesome. Please help im
So you're saying that the step by step guide is too hard for you to use?
I'm not sure how someone else can help you better, 7 steps aren't that many. I would suggest you not even try to flash roms on this phone if the below link is too difficult to use.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433835
I've only tried a few cooked ROMs with my new (only slightly used by previous owner) Kaiser, but flashed quite a few onto my Elfin, and those experiences give me a good sense of when a WM phone is 'happy' and when it's not. I've settled on following development by ahmedfikry, as his bare-bones WM6.5.3 ROM are really snappy in response, and allow a lot of flexibility for the user to install, or not, any software into main memory (Windows folder) they like. Installing to that folder, rather than the usual \Program Files or onto microSD, is preferable to maintain smooth operation for some kinds of programs, especially important for Today plugins and system enhancing plugins such as SPB shell stuff, etc. Using his fairly simple guide, I found it dead easy to flash. The only hesitation I had was in selecting from the sometimes un-described enhancement CABs in his XDA_UC folder (placed in the microSD root directory, installed automagically on first boot after flashing without any user initiation), as being new to the Kaiser I was not yet familiar with some of these. But there seems nothing overly difficult there, just a bit of research perhaps. I'll tweak my selections further next time I have a few hours to flash and manually customize per my preferences.
His ROM thread is here:

I really do highly recommend this version. I need my phone every day for work, and cannot afford a buggy ROM or I'd annoy customers too much. My Elfin sort of kind of died, so the Kaiser is it for me. With this ROM my Kaiser is happy. Next flash, I'll be putting a host of my long time favourite apps into that UC folder, as the Kaiser has plenty of main memory I otherwise don't use.
hey thanks "GerardSamija" yeah i use my tilt for pretty much the same deal. my phoneis my job pretty much i use it to keep up contacts through and make many business related calls and such. so exactilly what i was looking for is rom without to much bloatware and wasnt buggy or laggy so this seems to be a good fit thanks again
