With some cab: Installation not successful - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I'm trying to install CSDevCtrl and .net compact framework 3.5.... But everytime I try, also before the choice of the location (main memory or internal storage), I get this installation not successful... Why???
Is there any kind of protection? With other cabs I get no problem at all...

i see your using one of the beta builds of winmob 6.5, that mite be your problem, as with any new os there are always software compatability issues, i suggest you try a normal 6.1 rom or one of the newer com5 builds of 6.5

I have the some problem.i try some roms ,some of the can install, but others cant,i think it must be rom's problem.

Nope, I'm talking of HTC Diamond official rom Ita, the first old rom...

phone memory error?

I have updated my Diamond with the latest Unsigned SPL (dev. editon)
and had for about 10 versions of 6.5Rom on it.. (over a couple of months)
last time I did get errors in the filesystem (of the phone mem)
all sorts of random letter dirs, sometimes (3 gb) big, and undeletable (with total commander ect..)
when I tought that it was a rom error, I reflashed the rom, but the problem remains (with 3 different 6.5 roms) (they did work before..)
when I Installed 6.5 on it, it also skipped some setup , like I didn't get the screen alignment, then it asks for the time and date, and after that it just skips the password question.. None of the roms work like they should, when installing to device memory the phone often hangs and instalation doesn't complete...
and now for the strangest thing: when i decided to send the phone back for maintance, and i put the original signed SPL and a official 6.1 rom on it, the phone functions normaly! no errors whatsoever...
as soon, as I install a 6.5 rom again, the same problems show up again, the same 6.5 rom that worked before!
what can this be??
I think i might have the same problem on my diamond. I installed a rom based on the new 23001 kitchen floating in the forum. Didn't add anything to it, just 6.5 with tf3d2, nothing else, all i wanted. No custom icons/skins, just plain old vanilla.
After a while i get a similar problem to what you described. File system errors and sometime it even resets the rom to 0 so i have to realigned the screen and set time and date. Then i get memory errors. Really annoying.
I shall try a 6.1 rom later and report back to see if it fixes mine also.
would also like to know why 6.5 seems to do this!

doubts regarding the diamond..

guys, i have few doubts regarding my diamond..
i went thru the link for the ROMs which i got from one of the members..i had few queries in mind..i would be glad if someone could clear them-
1st- y do v need cooked ROM anyways??is there any significant increase in the speed of the device? if yes, which ROM should one go for??
2nd- will overwriting the original ROM with the cooked ROM erase the existing data/contact loaded on my device?
3rd- as i personally feel that the system which HTC has provided over the existing 6.1 is great( those contact and weather stuff), will overwriting the device with windows 6.5 erase all that system??or will that retain and only 6.1 will be replaced by 6.5? i have a frnd who says that 6.5 is way too good than 6.1 and i should put 6.5 in my device..mind u, he does not have diamond. he owns a asus p320.
4th- i also use wi-fi device very frequently on my device...the problem is that the device gets heated up very speedily, the battery life while using wifi is PATHETIC..i just wanted to know that if its normal. also, do i need to use any antivirus for my diamond??
i would be greatefull if somebody would clear away my doubts...thnx..
2nd- yes
3rd- updating the rom will replace anything with what the new rom bring to the table for better or worse only way to go back is to flash it with a rom of the pre version
"do i need to use any antivirus for my diamond??

Because (depending on the chosen ROM of course) :
You may have significant performance boosts
The included software is different, especially if you had a carrier branded rom (for example, the Orange stock rom I had with my french diamond didn't have any Google Maps or Youtube software)
Using so-called "light roms" will free space on the main storage area

Yes, but it won't wipe the "internal storage" (that replaces the SD memory card). Depending on the software you have installed to the internal storage, you will want to wipe it also (after having backed up you data of course) so that no conflict arrises with software coming along with the new rom

Everything is replaced when you flash the new ROM. However, many ROMs exist, some have the "HTC system" (actually called Touch Flo 3D or TF3D) and some have only the Windows Mobile 6.5 "Titanium" user interface. You must choose the right ROM to go with.

This device heats up a lot compared to others, whatever ROM you use. Some Radio ROMs make the device heat a little less, according to some people out there.
Hope this helps.

WM6.5 ROMs working for ~1 week

Hey guys.
I have a mysterious issue with my HD.
After flashing Dutty's WM 6.5 R8 Turbo ROM the problems appeared.
The freshly flashed and installed ROM works with all programs and changes for approximately 1 week. After this period (without reboot!) suddenly all contacts are gone, all pictures are gone from the album and the SD card is inacessible (like this thread: Thread), today there was just a bug that a notification was repeated 95 times instead of the supposed 1 time, once it just froze.
When you try a reboot, the booting will take a lot of time just to show the WinMo start screen. At this point the boot process gets stuck and you have to hard reset to get back access to your device.
In today's case with the small bug it endep up worse: Instead of trying to boot the system automatically did a hard reset! Fortunately there were no important data on my phone.
First I assumed that this was caused by the SD-TuneUp driver by tyynt. But after hard reseting under Dutty 6.5 R8 T for the third time I didn't install this driver and guess what: 1 week later it froze anyway and made a hard reset necessary.
After this ROM I tried Dutty's 6.5 R12 Revised with the same result. As mentioned, the device performed an automatic hard-reset today. Now I'm back on WM 6.1 HD V4.1 Final to if this is ROM dependent or not.
Do you guys have any idea what's causing this? It's pretty annoying to reconfigure your HD every week

most probably it wll not..
I have thesame problem with duty's latest roms (R9,R12)
After a few days it gets very slow. So slow i have to do a soft reset. But then the device loads very slow, it dont shows the htc animation. After a few minutes (1 or 2) it gets stuck at the orange windows mobile 6.5 loading screen.
Somethimes it does automatically a hard reset after the soft reset. All messages, appointments, contacts are gone. Only time and date are restored. Sometimes it does absolutely nothing, it just freezes at the orange screen, even after a few soft resets. In this case I have to do a hard reset. With dutty R9 mostly the freezes occured, sometimes automatically a hard reset. With dutty R12 most of the time (3 times so far) It does automatically a hard reset.
So I have to restore everything 1 or 2 times a week with pim backup. Does someone have an possible explanation?

I had the same Problem after flashing from Dutty's WM6.5 R5 to R6. I tried Flashing back to R5 but the same thing happened.
I resolved it by up flashing the HTC stock ROM, and then R6 again. Now on R12 and haven't seen the problem since. No idea what it could be though.
I've had the same problem. Flash a stock rom like ManiGo says and than you can flash one of Dutty's rom. Worked for me. Good Luck.
The problem doesn't appear to be directly related to the rom as countless others have used Throys roms with no such issues. As Svenvdmeer stated above, the general solution which appears to have worked for all would be to restore stcok rom and then follow guidelines to flash Throys rom again.
Alright, I'm going to try that and one week later we will see if it worked for me, too
Thank you for your help!
Edit: Is there a certain stock rom you would recommend? Otherwise I would just flash one of those provided by Dutty.
Edit²: Could be an indication for a bad flash that all WM6.5 ROMs I tried were noticeably slower and not that smooth in (e.g.) TF3D in comparison to 6.1 ROMs?
Its weird, today i had the problem with dutty's R2 (great rom )
I will try soon to flash a stock rom.
Had the same problems with the first 6.5 roms. Thought that the problem was a CAB I installed (SMS extension from Dutty). Flashed back to 6.1 (not a stock, but a Dutty ROM) and after a while I tried out a other 6.5 ROM and didn't had the problem since then. Still didn't know if it was the CAB or just a 'random' other problem.
This time the WM6.1 is still the most popular choice
try NOT to sync your contact with any of the server after initalizing your machine. (You may restore contact and disconnect all sync service)
Test it for a week and see if it goes right.
I only use PIM Backup, I never updated with a server with Winmob 6.5. Only with 6.1 I updated to my gmail and hotmail server, but that 1.5 months ago.
Similar problem for me with me.
Dutty's WM 6.5 R9 Turbo
Radio 1.14.
It freezes at least 5 -6 times a day.....driving me nuts! It's a shame cause I like the start menu so much more than on Dutty's 6.1 ROM.
I'm flashing Energy's ROM as I type this. Hope it's as good as other peeps say.
I'm sorry for probably being dumb but where do I find a WinMo 6.5 stock ROM?
Searched this forum and got everything about ROM's but one single stock ROM.
The official ROM's by Dutty seem to be based on 6.1 as well.

So then the already given advices were in vain? Or did I get something wrong about the meaning of a stock rom?
I guess the best solution would be that people who already solved this problem will post which ROM's they exactly used for stock-reflashing.
Thank you

Here you can find all the stock ROM's:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_Ship_exe
None of them are 6.5 ofcourse.
I think im pretty screwed then. My usb-port doesnt work anymore. I already bought a new cable, used different pc's, different roms, settings but it just don't work. I think its a hardware failure. So i flash my Roms with the micro sd card method (copy blacimg.nbh to card).
But to flash a stock rom, i need a stock spl. And as far as I know you must have a working usb connection.
Well it doesn't have to be a stock rom to fix it but i think that's te safest choice. I (accidentaly) fixed it by trying some of Miri's rom (because i had trouble with dutty) after a couple of roms from miri's i tried a dutty rom again and it worked.

How to install WM 6.5

I tried to instal 6.5 by theese steps but it wont work! gizmodo.com/5281397/how-to-install-windows-mobile-65-right-now
how to do this?
I wanted to install ROM something like this forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517300
what is the problem occurs? explain
When i go to step 15. in this manual: gizmodo.com/5281397/how-to-install-windows-mobile-65-right-now
My HTC stuck in load screen with 0% loaded!
I tried it lot but nothing!
You need to update ur hard spl with - SPL-1.40.OliNex
see
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211
I tried it but it`s not working!
I started ROM Update Utility... next..next...then shows my image version (2.03.414.2).. Update To 1.40.OliNex..next.....next....then starts update.. 0% .. and ERROR The Update Utility cannot connect to your PDA Phone....
Don`t know why it`s not working
"Because you're an idiot"
It's Vital that you READ the guides on XDA for flashing your phone.
All your problems are answered in the forum so you really didn't need to post this. Upgrading your phone from a WM5 to 6.5 is a big leap and Don't expect it to magically fix any issues you may already have with the current version of WM.
You will need to learn how to MTTY if you plan on flashing your phone after a 6.5 rom upgrade because it's not as easy as it used to be.
There is a helpful serach function on the forum I suggest you use it before anyone else wastes their breath.
I have bad in english that`s why i cant find the correct answer in search!
And i dont understaand all the abbreviations like XDA MTTY and lots of others.
I don`t have WM 5 but WM 6.1 and its not so big leap ti WM6.5
That`s why i post this!
And i have no problems when i upgraded my last phone to 6.5 and i dont know why i have problems with HTC Diamond!?
SPL & MTTY
You should have used Olinex SPL before even thinking about flashing your phone
Thinking about it now... you should have bought the diamond unlocker as it's a better solution.
You have to use the MTTY method before flashing with a 6.5 rom as your memory space can be changed to acommodate more/less modules for the ROM. If you don't use MTTY then your phone will fail.

How to upgrade from 6.1 to 6.5(xperia x1)

kinda newbie here in terms of custom ROMs or flashing but could somebody give me a step by step procedure for me to be able to upgrade my xperia x1 6.1 to 6.5? just don't want to brick my phone.
i know that there are lots of tutorial here but i can't find which is the best & stable.
every one is quite stable, if you charge your phone 100% and don't plug your cable out of the phone nothing will go wrong.
After hardspl use SD-Methode to put your 6.5 rom on your phone it's the simpliest way, there you cannot damage your phone with putting a x1 rom on your x1 (with roms from other phones it could damage your phone but i am not sure)
1-unlock yr phone with spl 0.78
2-connect phone with full charge(20% is enough)
note: DON'T use task 29 if u don't flash yr device everyday!
3-try romes to find yr best choice
there is nothing in a simple regular flashing to brick the device
thanks for the replies, im trying to consider this ROM but when i read the thread i found that there are some bugs.
is it possible to revert to 6.1 if you're not satisfied with 6.5? could a simple hard reset do the job?

it's good rom but I suggest this one....It's stable & up to date.don't use htc rom just download GTX 2.2.0 & enjoy!
about the question.no the rom is not a program,It's the os of device.like your pc.it's like that you install windows 7 instead of XP so if you Decide to go back to XP you neet to install it.
if you want to go back to WM 6.1 you need to flash the stock rom again(that is simple).but I think you'll never go back to 6.1
the link for rom I proposed
Dynamics 2.2.0

thanks, will try that & give you feedback
another set of questions....
these are the instructions in flashing x1 to 6.5 but don't understand most of it, sorry for the stupidity =)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing:
0) Make a system backup!
Useful apps: SPB Backup, PPC Pim Backup, Sprite Backup
1) Install Hard-SPL 0.78 by OliNex!
2) Put needed cabs to \Storage Card\autocfg\.
Supported formats: *.cab, *.provxml, *.reg, *.rgu.
*.CAB: by default they will be installed to internal memory. Cabs with "_ui" in their names will have an opportunity to be
installed to storage card.
*.EXE: AlphaUC can install *.EXEs from \Storage Card\autocfg\exe\. If you add "_nowait" to filename, customizer won't wait
until it finishes
3) Use task29. !!! Put kovsimg.nbh to storage card !!!
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649230
4) Then flash needed ROM as always (via storage card or via CustomRUU). Make a Hard-Reset.
5) Wait for the end of customization. You will see message about it on the second launch.
After that make a soft-reset.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
help, the link for task29 is missing, how can i continue?
for number 4, how will i do that?
