Help with K-9 alerts during the night - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use K-9 as my phone based email client. This weekend I changed ROMs from
Cyan's latest to Dwang 1.11. Also, I updated k-9 1.010 ....so I am not
sure what caused this change...
For my job, I must keep my phone on 24-7, and I have always used "close
everything 2" to close the k-9 process whenever I go to sleep so that I
don't get email notifications all night.
Last night, I closed k-9 as usual, but it kept giving me email
notifications. I finally had to open up k-9 and set the email check
frequency to "never"
Does anyone know a good and SIMPLE way to kill k-9 or its notifications
without setting it to never check for mail since I have to do this every night?

I use my G1 for work and I need a rom that has push email. I have tried almost every rom that i can find enabling push gmail and push exchange, and they both lag. Does anyone have any suggestions on either a rom or an app to make either gmail or exchange come to my phone almost instantly, like my old blackberry did?
Have you tried K-9?
Yes but there is no push function in k-9
Set update frequency to always update. It'll kill your battery though

Anyone use K-9 Mail? If so.... help!

I'm currently running ZenEXP and K-9 Mail because it does push and Zenulator hasn't got push running yet on the stock client. K-9 is cool, I like it and it is fast but I have two issues:
1) I get notified every time a new email comes in and this bugs me. The stock Gmail push client will notify me once when a new email comes in and then quietly collect any new emails until I check them, then it starts over. This is great as it let's me sleep without hearing the "new mail" notification all night long. Has anyone who uses K-9 figured out how to make it work like the stock client and only notify once until I check?
2) Is there an "unread Mail" widget anywhere I can put on my main screen? I used to use one called "Gmail Unread Count" from the market but I can't find one for K-9
Thanks folks....

[Q] K-9 doesnt notify about new mails (Android 2.2)

I've been using K-9 for a while and it has been working great, but since I upgraded to 2.2 it doesnt seem to notify about new mails.
I have of course checked the settings in K-9 and it should notify.
When I have K-9 open it receivs mails instantly and if I do not have it open when I get a mail it seems to download them anyway, cause all the new mails are already downloaded when I open it up.
So I think it's more about the notification rather than K-9 not getting the mail.
I have reinstalled it but still the same.
Any ideas?
Edit: Now it suddenly started to work. Dont know why or how but I'm happy.

[Q] why did mail auto-sync stop working since 2.2.1 (JPY)?

ever since i upgraded to 2.2.1 (JPY) my mails in the e-mail application (not the google one) stopped being synchronized automatically, no matter what i set as mail checking interval there. i have tried without security settings and with "SSL (accept all certificates)". 3 accounts, all standard IMAP accounts (no exchange), fetching mail from them manually is working just fine.
when i watch "Running Services" for some time i see an email fetch background task appear and disappear every now and then.
i had stock 2.1 rom before and there it was working just fine.
synchronization is also turned on, although at least in 2.1 this wasn't necessary for automatic mail fetching to work, so i think it isn't related.
any ideas?
thanks already.
Same thing happened to me
I would really appreciate if someone would have a solution

Gingervolt email notification

I'm sorry I'm a noob, but I've searched and read a lot and I don't seem to see anyone with this exact issue....
I have a few email accounts. Before I flashed to gingervolt, I had messages from both accounts accessible in the same list and notifications worked for both. Now, I must choose which account I would like to access at a time.
I really can't find any settings to adjust this on the phone. Does anyone have a clue what may be wrong or is this just the way Gingervolt behaves?
Thanks.

If I'm the same as you you mean 2 accounts in Gmail. You will get notifications for both but you have to view each account seperately. I've never seen it any other way.
Sorry, I know I wasn't very clear. I've got a gmail account and then another non-gmail account that I get via POP/SMTP. It seems I only get notified for the account marked as primary and I have no way to change the frequency with which it pulls from the POP server... I believe it's set to around 30 mins, but I can't find a way to change that at all.
Does anyone know how to (using GingerVolt):
1. Change the polling frequency of a POP account?
2. Set the notification to work for both gmail and another account, regardless of which is primary?
Thanks!
Ok... So, I think K-9 mail is going to give me more frequent polling. Still testing....

Glad you're getting it figured out
I thought the stock email client did this... Not the gmail client but the AOSP email client which allows 1 centralized box. You can also specify how often it goes and checks for new mail.

Which is exactly why I posted... I thought those capabilities would be in the mail client after flashing to Gingervolt.
K-9 still seems to be working well enough for me.
Ok... I have figured out the proper imap settings so the sync time is no longer an issue like it was with POP, but I am sticking with K-9. It is really well done. The ability to set the notification quiet time and a unified inbox are worth it alone.
