Please Help with Topaz Memory management / Memory Leak !! - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Got a Branded HTC Touch Diamond 2 (aka Topaz) from SFR (Vodafone) France upgraded to 6.5 official ROM.
Versions are as follow :
ROM Version 2.16.163.3 (67041) FRE
Windows CE 5.2.21854 Build 21864.5.0.80
Total Memory 185.92MB
Manila Sense version 2.1.19192532.5
So System about tab shows 185,92MB total memory. (thought it was much more than that but, let's assume a certain amount of memory is reserved for manila or whatever ..)
After a soft reset, HTC task manager shows approx 50% Used memory.
At the end of a day use, used memory grows to 90% !!! EVEN WITH ALL PROGRAMS CLOSED.
And there is no way to recover memory (using cleanram, oxio or whatever).
Now what I don't understand :
* gwes.exe seems to be the culprit as its memory grows very high (more than 34MB) but how can a standard winmo 6.5 process can have a memory leak ???
* Now the funny part, taking all processes shows in Fdcoft task Manager (the best ever), and summing all process used memory, I have the following :
Process Name Memory
gwes.exe 30594
cprog.exe 7141
filesys.exe 5404
device.exe 4581
Pocketwit.exe 4222
Opera9.exe 2753
manila.exe 2070
services.exe 1788
shell32.exe 1719
Audiomanager_eng 842
tmail.exe 802
PhonelogService.exe 444
lumos.exe 333
connmgr.exe 115
TaskMgr.exe 114
AlbumSearcher.exe 63
ResInfo.exe 56
batti.exe 4
SAPSettings.exe 3
MFDownload.exe 3
NK.EXE 1
TOTAL 63052
Taking the total memory (186) minus the memory used, we have
186-63 = 123
So I should have 123MB free and looking at free memory amout in Task Manager or ResInfo, I have only 24MB FREE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Question, where are the missing 100MB ???????????
Somebody, please Help !!!!
Thanks a lot !!
Thomas

Perhaps Ram Sweeper could help u, if u don't try it before

I update my topaz with official ROM, and I've seen the new Rom eats more RAM, but no so much

New Rom 1.40 on FTP (Baked 1.40.110 & Radio 1.12)

I recently discovered that there is now a file in the Uploads/Blueangel/ directory of the xda-developers FTP named BA_1.40_radio_1.20_untested_extrom.rar
The file (and the contents extracted) can now be found here:
ftp://xda:[email protected]_Updates/BA_1.40_radio_1.20_untested_extrom
(EDIT MDAIIIUser: Moved file and corrected link)
This is a Generic 1.40 Rom with cabs from 1.40.110 Extended Rom.
I would like to thank whoever put this file up.
Note that the extrom folder in the archive contains some cabs that would not be included in a standard extended rom (eg SPB GPRS Monitor, the Extended Rom unlocker, etc), as well as some updated HTC cabs, so it is a requirement to cook your Extended rom yourself.
The cabs not natively a part of the 1.40.110 Extended Rom are:
AudioPatch_Media.CAB
CprogHook.WM2003_2577.CAB
dsp_en.cab
GPRSMonitor_2.20_WWE_BA_20041011.sa.CAB
TotalCmd.arm.CAB
xda-developers_Unlocker.CAB
Examples of HTC Extended Rom Upgrades found in this archive:
Old Album: 2.51 Build 16894
New Album: 2.51 Build 18454
Old 1.20 Photo Contacts: 1.20 Build 17957
New Photo Contacts: 1.20 Build 19167
The new Album now opens Photo Contacts 1.20 with the assign to contact command, where it previously did not.
The radio rom included in the archive is 1.12, it seems to be MDAIIIUser's 1.12 Type I Radio Rom.
The 1.40 nk.nbf is seemingly Type I: it will work with the old xda3nbftool.
This rom has Windows Media Player 10, and it seems to be a bit better on the battery. Mamaich (in a post below) has already found some issues, however. (Typical)
UPDATE:
The MMS cab file (CAB-ArcsoftMMS-20022-Magician-Generic-ENU-08Mar05.cab) included in this update causes the hardware phone end button to lock up many people's blue angels during a call. It is highly recommended that you do not use this new cab, and install the older version instead, accessable here:
ftp://xda:[email protected] Media Messaging/MMS_2.0.0.16_BA_1123.CAB
Just flashed the NK.NBF (CE ROM) portion on my PDA2k.
Boots up fine as 1.40.00 WWE on diagnostics screen.
Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition, version 4.21.1088 (Build 15045.2.6.0).
Device Information page shows:
ROM version: 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/10/05
Windows Media Player 10.0 build 15045.
Camera applet integrated in ROM, version 2.21 (build 19307)
Broadcom Bluetooth 1.0.0 build 3900, same versions across all Bluetooth files.
Single "G" icon.
All seems well.
Now, I'm going to piece back the Extended ROM with my customizations and get it going.
This ROM has several minor problems. For example ringer.wma sounds ugly, backlight is maximal after you leave camera app, but it seems that this ROM drains battery a bit less then previous versions, even with 1.12 radio ROM.
To fix camera you can replace camera.exe with a version taken from old ROM, I use EXE from 1.31
And this ROM supports 2 different camera chips: ADCM2650 (old, my device has it) and OV7660. So maybe it is designed for new BAs with an improved camera. Though both chips are limited at 640x480.
Album_BlueAngelAKU26_Generic_WWE_RC20.CAB, Album application
AudioPatch_Media.CAB, changes audio priority to 80
BA_OEM_PA_Remove_WiFi_Logo.sa.CAB, remove extraneous Wi-Fi logo from top status bar
BA_Version_140.CAB, embeds version number for Device Information applet
Broadcom-Corporation-BT-PPC-AV-Upgrade.cab, apparently upgrades Bluetooth stack
Button9.CAB, programs extra button on slide-out keyboard
CAB-ArcsoftMMS-20022-Magician-Generic-ENU-08Mar05.cab, MMS add-on for Messaging applet
Caller_ID_BlueAngelAKU26_Generic_WWE_RC20.CAB, IA Caller ID
CprogHook.WM2003_2577.CAB, related to Phone applet (?)
CV2.41.386_wwe.CAB, ClearVue PowerPoint and PDF Viewer
Default_JMM101257_WWE_1004.CAB, Java Midlet Manager
dsp_en.cab, "Bass & Trable [sic]" (?) (likely customized)
GPRSMonitor_2.20_WWE_BA_20041011.sa.CAB, GPRS monitor
KSE_Fax_v2.09_BA_WWE_0720_unremovable.CAB, KSE Fax for CSD
MIDI561.sa.CAB, MIDI ringtone support
SetDefaultSMS.CAB, default to SMS in Inbox
TotalCmd.arm.CAB, Total Commander (likely customized)
VideoMMSB12_BA.sa.CAB, Video MMS applet
xda-developers_Unlocker.CAB, Extended ROM tools (likely customized)
So what improvements is this rom supposed to have?
(I've installed it now)
mamaich, how can you tell what camera chip a BA has?
Broadcom-Corporation-BT-PPC-AV-Upgrade.cab - adds HID and high quality audio BT profiles
CprogHook.WM2003_2577.CAB - my program, adds "contacts" button to dialer, it is not the latest build
dsp_en.cab - adds "bass&treble" customization, it works on BA and Magician devices
I don't know what are the improvements in this ROM, except that it should be more stable (because it has a newer kernel build with MS patches integrated), it has a built-in 3900 BT, so you don't need to install it and lose about 1Mb of storage space, has WMP10, and this ROM is produced by HTC (or MS) and not created from other ROMs parts like I did with 1.33.51 ROM.
I have not tested the sound quality over BT headset, maybe it is improved.
how can you tell what camera chip a BA has?

A quick Question, if I install the radio and rom, does it clear out extended rom as part of the upgrade, or do I have to do that manually first, so that it doesnt restore all my old 1.2 cabs

It does not touch your extended rom. I would recommend cooking your rom first, then installing the upgrade.
Thanks, mamaich for your answers.
could someone be kind enough to advise
I have tried to read through pages and pages of threads to sort out my problem....
I have been helping pass on the knowledge I have learned from you guys to others when I see them ask... and understand how it must frustrate when people ask already answered questions..
BUT.. I cannot find the answers and I am sure the answer will help many people....
I have downloaded this ROM and would dearly like to use it. I have however a number of questions if I may..:
1) I like what I see in the extended rom on this download can I just use it.. if so how and can you see any problems?
2) I cannot seem to use the rom as it sais wrong country error. I have read may threads and have downloaded xda3nbftool as described by them but cant seem to understand how to fix the file for my country code.. I have the information and this is as follows.....
Model = Ph20B
Minor version =OB
Language code = WWE
Minor = R
Operator code = O2_001
Rom version =1.31.00
Minor = 00
Extended Rom version = 1.31.139 WWE
Radio version = 1.12.00
Please help guys I am sure there will be many people struggling as I am.
thanks in advance
Stay happy
Magpie2000k
magpie2000k, I do not recommend using the current extended rom. Some of the cabs are retail software, and unless you are willing to pay for them, you will be installing time-expiring trials. One of the included cabs is even corrupted. That doesn't even take into account that carrier customization is missing, among other things. I would recommend taking the time to understand how to cook your rom properly and then make your own rom using some of the cabs included so that it properly fits your needs.
As for installing the CE Rom upgrade, I can be of help to you for that. First, since you already have the 1.12 Rom installed, remove the radio_.nbf file that is included in the archive, so that it doesn't unnecessarily upgrade again.
OK, now extract the attached rar file and put them in the same folder as the upgrade, then run fix.bat. Then run BAUpgradeUT.exe and voila.
One again, however, I stress that you should cook your rom before doing this.
Thanks
You are a star.. I take it using the fix bat you created for me the change from my details.... very kind of you..
I have tried to cook the rom. have read and thought I understood all of what was on wiki I have read every page, but when I do what I think it sais it doesnt work.. for instance I want to put the Audio patch enclosed in the supplied extended rom and it doesnt happen when I try and change the config text file it wont save it.. I have unlocked extended rom etc etc etc..
I feel that when I eventualy learn I will write a very very simple version of how to do it and put it up as reference to all...
If you can help in any way on that I would greatly appreciate it..
To all that dont know THE LASTONE is a star
stay happy
Once again thanks

The ugly sound of ringer.wma is caused by the new album application. I tried installing another Album version (older) and the sound of ringer.wma is different! So, maybe they think that this sound as we hear it is more beautiful????
Funny that the Album messes with .wma files...strange, but funny.
But oh well, we all know how funny the BA can behave sometimes...
Jep, I really don't get it right, but it seems to do with any of the dll's installed. Something about that, but why??? Eat me.....
By the way, Happygoat and others. Today I talked to the dealer right here in the Netherlands and the told me they would send me the upgrade on CD to me tomorrow or monday. They confirmed that the version was
ROM1.40
Radio1.12
Ext ROM 1.40.110
Hope I will receive it soon!
That's good. I guess we can use it to ensure we have all the proper extended rom stuff.
Thanks, j_metselaars.
As allready mentioned, there are some minor probs with a few applications in this Extended_ROM.
The most annoying bug is the camera. When used, it sets to the highest brightness, and doesn't set back to your default brightness after use. I cooked the FixCamera_18157.sa into my Extended_ROM, it sets the camera-app back to the build 2.21B18157 from the 1.33.51-Mamaich-ROM, but it works allright.
Remember, when cooking, that the CprogHook.WM2003_2577.CAB (by Mamaich) and the AudioPatch_Media.CAB will need you to tap away the "This was build for a previous ...". Don't disable your touchscreen in the case you will be using one of these programs (= don't execute the "EXEC:\Extended_ROM\TPDisable.exe" in your 'Config.txt' hidden in your Extended_ROM).

How-To build a ROM:
Extract the DEV folder
Extract one ROM to DEV
Extract one OS to DEV
Extract one LOC to DEV
Extract all OEM Packages you need to OEM
Run CreateOS.exe and click the button
Run CreateROM.bat
Done, your new ROM is located at DEV/Temp/NK.nbf
How-To build ur own OEM Package:
An OEM Package is just a simple folder containing files and registry settings for the ROM
First of all you'll need a GUID number for your Package.
Go to http://kruithof.xs4all.nl/ uuid/uuidgen to get one.
In my case:
283b9db7-cb03-4c1b-820e-ca49b2c3b5db
Necessary steps:
1. Create a new folder:
Dev/OEM/[Your package name]/
2. Create a empty text file:
Dev/OEM/[Your package name]/283b9db7-cb03-4c1b-820e-ca49b2c3b5db.dsm
(CreateOS.exe will finish this file for you)
If needed:
3. Create an UNICODE text file:
Dev/OEM/[Your package name]/283b9db7-cb03-4c1b-820e-ca49b2c3b5db.rgu
This file could be used to add registry entries to the ROM
First line is:
REGEDIT4
...
and there MUST be a empty line at the end!!
4. Create an UNICODE text file:
Dev/OEM/[Your package name]/initflashfiles.txt
This file could be used to create folders or copy files on the ROM.
Example: Open Dev/LOC/initflashfiles.dat using a text editor
Copy all files you need to Dev/OEM/[Your package name]/
First Big Thanks to MAMAICH for his great tools that makes this possible, and BEPE for this briliant method of buildin rom that make it really easy for everyone and also BIG Thanks to indra9110 for lot of help, thanks dra...really appreciate it bro...
This is still on test stage, so trust me, something might be wrong or anything, I'm really need an input on this method, since I'm not so familiar with bepe's briliant way, he'll do it better I supposed? hehe....
Midget_1990, xplode, Black6spdZ, thingonaspring, logout , tautara and others input and help will be a huge help for make it better.

Hi helmi, this is real good stuff.
What's the intention however? I quite like the current state of affairs with everyone focussing on one ROM. One ROM to rule them all etc.
Is the idea for people to start creating their own? I'd rather see everyone pull together to produce one fantastic BA WM5 ROM. We aren't all that far away from it just now. But if we start to fragment the effort, it'll slow things right down.
I made many packages for my Himalaya. It would be great to make some place on ftp to share them. This place shouln't be device specific (as I remember some of packages are uploaded into BA or Wizard section)
But better place would some wiki page, where people could write which package works on which hardware.
Also it's good idea to notice in package name which version of software it is, and if it's UPXed or not (I'm UPXing almost all packages gaining about 50% of space)
I have:
AKU 2.2+ Title Bar Clock
AutocompletePL
Call2Contact_1.0
CamRecSvc_by_ADX
Cambridge_bluetooth (Himalaya)
Compact_Framework_2
DKToday 1.80
DSP
DorucenkaSMS
ExtROMUnlock_UPX
File Support
FlightMode (Himalaya?)
GB-SOFT Tweak
MagicButton_2.0_UPX
NetCFVersion
O2_Operator_UPX
PQView
Regedit_PHM_0.70+TRE_0.90_UPX
Reset
SimMessaging 0.04
SoftKeyAppletEx
TaskMgr1.6
Tcpmp_0.72RC1_UPX
TodayAgenda
Toggle
Total Commander 2
TreoSpeedDial_UPX
VJVolubilis_0.41_UPX
WM2k5 SMS Alert Fix (Himalaya?)
WM5 NewMenu_1.0_UPX
WM5torage 1.7 (seems 1.5 is more stable)
XCPUScalar
idiffce_0.3_UPX
Personally i miss AEButton package but can't do it.
Some of them are unfinished (NET CF2 is the most important of them), some of them are untested because i'm still in process of converting new packages
And it would be nice to group packages by type, maybe place them in submenus

its still early stage, we need more people involved, but maybe with thingonaspring here (I believe he ready to put some nice stuff here), midget, blackspz, logout, tautara, xplode , everyone who willing to work as a team, for me its doesnt matter who build/make the rom, I believe we just want a ROM that we can use right? so working together on the fix / update issues would produce a "Best" or "less bug" rom, plus with ability to customizing it for personal use. well, at least that my intention. hopes we all can work together.

this is exactly what I want.. people share their stuff.. and make our BA more rich with feature/option on spesific stuff... yes u might modify anything if u thing necessary (as long u didnt delete it ...lol) and inform about the update, so others know about it.

hmm... maybe that could happen, but I beleive if we make it together? maybe it'll slow a bit, but more bug will be fix/resolve, share experience, it doesnt matter about who makes the rom. well, we'll see about this proggress...
About ROM Kitchen and 'the One ROM'
The ROM Kitchen is a wonderful idea.
IMO, things should walk towards stabilizing a base ROM with all features working (including WModem ).
But we also shouldn't leave to the users the effort to create their own ROMs, that's too troublesome.
Maybe all devs could get closer together and agree on some tools to integrate to it, and call it the 'XDA ROM', instead of Bepe, Helmi, TuMa or whatever.
So, we could have a 'BASE ROM', meant to be used on the ROM Kitchen, and the XDA ROM supported by all devs, built from the BASE ROM with tools which were agreed to be useful, so the less geeky can have a nice working ROM to update their BAs with. With things like PHM regedit, ability to choose between BT stacks, GB Soft Tweak and other useful stuff.
That does not stop the devs from having their own name branded ROMs placed on the site...
Agreed, a base ROM system is the best of both worlds. Say I was to pickup a base ROM and build on it, is there anything I can do that can't be done using ExtROM installers? Sure, you get to put stuff in the ROM, but it's already stuffed full it would seem!
I remember reading about an anti-theft application that you could put in the ROM. If the phone number changed, it would start sending you text messages telling you about the current owner/thief. Is this an option for the BA once we get a kitchen?
I will test it tonight after work, , i will test my latest SAP package and maybe if it works OK i will post it in this thread
i still have to dump some devices roms to see what can i get from them, at this moment i have new versions of CommManager and WlanMgr and maybe fix for wifi integration, but first should test it...
Once again i want to thank everyone involved in WM5 development for BA
It will be a very long list .. so i will mention just a few names:
mamaich, bepe, helmi, logout, tuatara, Midget_1990 and many more
Right way to roll in UPXed system apps?
OK, I have just decompressed all files, but I have no OEM packages rolled int yet.
I have tested many UPXed system dlls and exes, and I would like to roll them in to save space, in place of the original ones.
Where do I put them?
Attempted to build a base rom from the files provided and i am getting an error after clicking on CreateOS. The error is "Error: OS\2849e391-1e39-4a98-87b9-53932dec51d3 is not listed in packages.sof". How do you add or remove packages listed in the sof file or is that possible? How can i remedy this error?
Thanks in advance
i have 3 errors for 3 folders in os folder, i just moved them into oem folder
more results soon
I had the 3 errors too, and moved the files to OEM. The ROM image was built (apparently) was successfully built.
BUT, the million dollar question is:
How much free space do we have without adding any OEM stuff at all (a BARE ROM)?
We need to know our KB budget to know how much we can roll in...
I have the same error. What did you move exactly?
OK i have it.
It's:
2849e391-1e39-4a98-87b9-53932dec51d3
e3055288-19cd-4317-9125-a63654628fb3
fb30fdba-23d9-4a92-af78-041b1ee1d46c
Move them from the OS directory to the OEM directory

When you get the error, move the folder with that name to OEM.
Another subject:
Hey all,
I have unpacked the ROM (nk.nba), replaced all folders ending with .exe and .dll with the actual file contained in each, and UPXed all exes and dlls.
Suspicious files are automatically skipped by UPX, and I compressed them with 'upx -i --compress-exports=0 --compress-resources=0 --strip-relocs=0', because when I was testing compressing (Office) with the default options, it didn't work. All compressible files worked, with these options.
The 'dump' contents went from 52,3 MB to 30,6 MB.
The catch: I don't know if the nk.nba generated from them will work
I haven't tried repacking it into an nba and flashing a ROM. Does anyone want to experiment with this file?
EDIT:
After BuildImgfs.exe finished, it reported the following:
Total Sectors: d2a8
Used Sectors : b984
Free Sectors : 1924
In decimal: 53928,47492,6436.
How big is a IMGFS sector? 512bytes? 1KB? more?
/EDIT
i did it with a few files
simply deleted them and created OEM package with UPXed versions
My Himalaya is flashing now AKU 3.2!
It flashed ok, hovewer entering BT settings hangs device
I will wait for Bepe
EDIT: BT stack is my fault cause by UPXing it
i create my rom ... very fast
but when i turn off my 9090 , it don't turn on ( display is balack)
any solution?
hi,
how to build a SD-Card Images?

T-mobile wing/herald keyboard layout research

I have been reading many threads at this forum about the WING issue with keyboard mapping for the ALT function symbols. It looks like several rows of key mappings are different between herald and wing.
herald

http://content.modaco.net/nedge2k/images/15-Mar-2007_02-terra-main.jpg
ALT function HERALD:
1st row: @ ! ? / # 1 2 3 ( )
2nd row: _ (some char) % - + 4 5 6 = ENT
3rd row: Cap ‘ & : * 7 8 9 PageUp Enter
4th row: ALT ; CommMan Sym Space 0 , PageDown Launch-Button
wing

ALT function WING:
1st row: ( ) = / # 1 2 3 ! ?
2nd row: _ “ % - + 4 5 6 @ Del
3rd row: Cap ‘ & : * 7 8 9 PageUp Enter
4th row: ALT ; CommMan Sym Space 0 , PageDown IE-launch
I am using the v4.12.07.10 PDAVIET Touch Flo Pro
After digging around I see that there is this file (\Windows\ sym.0409.txt
) that contains the symbols in the following format:

I wonder if changing around the symbols that are miss mapped would fix the keyboard issue between wing and herald ROM……
One problem, I can not modify this file because under properties in (Total Commander) it stated that the file is Read Only and it is in ROM.
Any ideas how to modify this file?
I guess if you have CID unlocked your phone you can uncheck read-only....no?????
If that doesn't work get your favourite ROM kitchen (check out HyperCore) and load up the ROM so you can edit the file on your computer
That won't change anything.
That file is used for accessing extra special characters. For example, hitting a left paren, holding in ALT, then hitting space will give you the next character in the list, a left bracket. Changing that will change the order of this special character feature.
It's also used for accenting characters. For example, hitting "r", holding in ALT, then space will give you ®.
There's just something to the files. Is there a way to cook a ROM off of an RUU? I could just cook a ROM with TouchFlo off of the official Wing RUU and host it if I can get a guide or something.
I have actually already posted a reference to as what the beta of touchflo's buttons do on the wing in my thread. in hopes it could be fixed, just as you. you give more detail though, good job!
Anyone has an OEM \Windows\keybddr.dll for wing?
Should that not fix the issue?
Anyone tried this approach?
I just ****ed up my phone by simply overwriting the ROM with that one, though, so I wouldn't recommend it. It rendered all buttons but the soft reset button useless. Enjoy.
EDIT: Hard Reset does nothing for me, need the RUU. *sigh*
Ive got 10 bucks for anyone who can figure out how to get this working right on the wing using itje's Touch it 1.1.....hopefully more will also be willing to contribute.
Check out default.hv . BTW. Ive already got TouchFlo working using the Wing original ROM. Just need to get the Music link on the cube to default to "Windows Media" and I'm totaly done.

Here's the TMO Wing original ROM with TouchFlo added. After the screen alignment, the TMO customization app will run but it doesn't install anything. Give your phone some time to initially startup after the install before trying the TouchFlo. Use at your own risk. Thanks to the PDAVIET team for the install process, anichillus for the kitchen And I think??? Tom Love ??? for the TouchFlo process itself. If I've used something of someone else's. I'm sorry, let me know and I'll remove it.

WM6.1 (Avis) kitchen based on C_Shekhar WM6.1 ROM

I've made WM6.1 ROM kitchen for Himalaya on the base of c_shekhar's WM6.1 ROM.
It's 3-rd beta version (for testing)
- .NET CF 3.5 / 2.0 optional
- SQL CE 3.5 / 3.0 otional
- new Touch-like Dialer optional
- other packages sorting
- some OEM-soft removed
- offset for PagePool change (HEX-edit): 0x004575b8
- offset for RAMDisk change (HEX-edit): 0x00456250
Here is the link (re-updated at 19.03.2008)
http://www.4shared.com/file/41258519/5557caa1/AvS_6_1_Kitchen_b3_clean.html
p.s. Many thanks to C_Shekhar for the base ROM!
And thanks to all that guys, who makes ROM-tools!
Avis.
Hm? Made ROM, flashed, now the screen stays white, though ActiveSync conects without a problem and thru it i can even browse the file system. Since this is my first time at this, will someone please tell me what i did wrong?
I deselected most of the options, kept the following:
- .NET CE 3.5
- SQL CE 3.5
- Office 2007
- SMS Alert Fix
- no RAM Disk selected (i suspect this is wrong)
Nice efforts Avis! Hope it works fine for the people.
The kitchen is full of too many packages and option to select/deselect them as well. But since the Hima ROM size is very small (32MB only) and the OS of 6.1 is very big in itself, then you have to deselect most of the options to have successful cooking.

I haven't tested SQL CE.
And if You deselect RAM DISK (or select any other, then 48 Mb - it's default in this kitchen) - You HAVE to edit nk.nba (in the tmp folder after runing BuildOS) with HEX-edit and set proper size (search this forum for correct values) on offset 0x00456250

I hope too.
Thanks to You for XIP-porting and registry making
p.s. It looks strange, that cprog.exe is in XIP-section now...
Thank you for clearing that up.
Isn't it the SQL CE required for contacts and sms database? Or maybe there is SQL CE 3 built in anyway? Then the SQL CE 3.5 is simply upgrading it? Sory about the many questions, i still have lot to learn
I also noticed that if WMP selected, the BUILDIMGFS crashes - there is a "send/don't send" windows error message. Thou it would seam that it happens after it is done it's work.
10x in advance.
P.S.: At this point I had no luck in cooking a functioning ROM, no matter what options I use, not even the default ones.

No, contacts & sms don't use this databse.
I don't know what th SQL CE for in my PDA and I don't use it

This Crash appears only if You select too many packeges in BuildOS. Deselect some of them and try again. And look carefully for free sectors after build (after running createROM.bat).

And maybe it would be useful for You to read thread about AKU 0.7.0 kitchen.
This kitchen is just the same, except core files.
10x about clarifying about SQL CE.

The crash ocured even when WMP was the only thing selected. 2 times i tried making ROM with default settings, one time the crash ocured, second time not. Every other time there was crash, and free sectors never went below 8F. I was trying to make clean-lean ROM.

I read it, didn't understand all of it, but as far as i can understand i didn't make anything "bad", but simply I don't get working ROM. It's probably my fault, i must be missing something. As I said before, it's new to me. Hope I will not be too much of a nuisance. I'll continue reading and try to understand it better. Thanks again.
P.S.: Practiced some on the 6.0 kitchen and had no problems there.
P.S. 2: I used the Syed Ather's WM6.1 AKU 1.0.0 and xda2nbftool.exe from your kitchen:
xda2nbftool -x nk.nbf nk.nba 0x20040304
hex edited nk.nba at offset 0x00456250, from FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF 00 00 00 07 to FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF 00 00 00 08
xda2nbftool -c -u nk.nba
xda2nbftool -x nk.nba nk.nbf 0x20040304
flashed the ROM and the result was similar to the cooked ones witj your kitchen - XDA boots into white blank screen, conects to PC ActiveSync, even the file system is browsable, but no interface on the screen.
Is it possible that there is a problem with xda2nbftool.exe or might the 0x20040304 be wrong?

If You want to change RAMDisk size on some cooked ROM You have to do 2 things:
1) HEX-edit nk.nba (You did it correctly)
2) decode "default.hv" into ".rgu" file - this is registry. Find and set correct size for RAMDisk
(in case of kitchen this done automaticaly depending on selected value in BuildOS)
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RAMDisk] --> 00 MB RAMDisk
"Size"=dword:00000000
"Address"=dword:98000000
p.s. and try reuploaded kitchen
p.p.s. btw, I have 06E3 free sectors if cook with all options unckecked
Thanks again. I knew I was missing something. I'll try what you suggested.
Kitchen reuploaded.
Boot-init bug fixed.

After the boot-init fix I finaly have my own home-brewed, cooked and working ROM. So you might be tiresome to hear this over and over gentlemen, but thanks again for your wonderfull work, you wonderfull people that made WM 6.1 possible.
But ofcourse as a newbie I would bore you with some questions yet again, sorry for that.
I have two isues with the cooked ROM:
1. It would seem that the keyboard is now a floating "window" and by the way, me and some other people on the forum apparently, don't like the new keyboard skin. Is there a way to fix either of these?
2. The Office (Word and Excel) apear to go outside of screen boundaries, there should be a toolbar at the bottom, but it isn't there and the text and scrollbar do not end at the bottom menubar, but go beneath it.
I would apreciate if you answer, if you find the time. Thank you again and in advance.
Edit: Here are some screenshots:
- The keyboard is in a floating window, you can see the titlebar
- The keyboard floating window is draged and moved
- Another shot of keyboard moved around
- The scrollbar is beneath the menubar, office apps are outside screen boundaries
- The scrollbar is missing a button, it is outside the screen boundaries
- The toolbar is enabled but is out of sight
Doesn't anybody have any idea how to fix the floating keyboard?

Yes. This bug come from one of the ROMs, that I used for kitchen...
You can fix it in registry
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip]
"DragStyle"=dword:0
Anyway - this is fixed in new version of kitchen.
Kitchen reuploaded
fixed:
- floating keyboard
- .NET 3.5 conflicted with Phone
+ new dialer added
Thank you! You're the best
Great work...i have my self built a new kitchen for the hima's..its coded in C++ ..but its for very advanced users...just yesterday ive been discharged from the hospital..
Hey AVIS,
thanks for yor very well work. All my trys with your kitchen are working without any Problems. One Question, what are your Z-Fix-Tweaks for ?
- are they Bug Fixes ?
- do you need them for your Russian-Version ?
- are they for your personal preferences ?
thanks in advance, dkamin

This pack contains some optional registry-tweaks.
- moves Internet cache to Storage Card
- sets "SMSDeliveryNotify" flag
- turns On "ClearType"
- adds Operator Names, that works on exUSSR territory
- and other small tweaks (You can look inside .rgu file in that package for full list)
Being new to the forum and only having my device for 2 weeks i have tried all kitchens and roms , i used your kitchen to build a very light rom and have added most of Poorlyduck's Vista Suit and Slither SCLPC++ Cube with the Vista graphics i have came across a small problem though,i was wanting to add SpbELF_CalculatorSkin Vista style graphics but cannot replace SpbCalc_L.gif with SpbCalc_L.png and SpbCalc_R.gif with SpbCalc_R.png ,mabey there is a configuration file for this i duno , i just don't want to have to start again just to remove the SpbCalc stuff, anyway of making a flashable backup of my current image so that i can edit the nk.nbf/nba ?
I have actually used a combination of kitchens from you and Syed to make my image and installed the above on the device, there is still a bit i would like to implament to make it really nice

the solution is very simple..i too faced it..just open the gif file in Photoshop or any image editing software..and convert it (save as) to PNG format or vice versa..this should solve your problem

[SOLVED] [Q] Total amount of ram

Looking the current apps running I can see the following:
289 MB using
354 MB free
Altogether 643 MB. Assumed that the phone has 1 GB of ram. ¿Where is the rest?

Already searched ("ram amount" and "ram available") but no matches for those terms.
Either way thanks.
