Hello there! I just rooted and installed CyanogenMod a few days ago and have been loving it except for the really small font size on the Lock Screen. Stock 1.6 was much bigger for me. I spent a little bit of time on #cyanogenmod and from my interactions there I've gotten a little confused about where the problem/feature/change lies. Bear with me for a second and please note that while this may seem entirely cosmetic to some of you it really does affect the way I use my phone. I understand if many of you won't care about such a small thing...I'm admittedly anal about these kinds of things and now curious, too, and I'm sure some of you themers out there can relate:
On my myTouch 32B T-Mobile Stock 1.6* before I rooted, the lock screen font size was large and quite visible from the distances I desired reading it from. My memory is blurry on whether it got bigger from 1.5 to 1.6 or stayed the same size (please comment if you have any insight).
After rooting and installing CM, the first thing I noticed was the reduced font size of the lock screen. I'm surprised that my googling and forum searching didn't yield anyone else curious about the font reduction...maybe it bothers me more than it should.
See for yourself:

The shot on the left was taken by me and the one on the right is borrowed from the Contact Owner website (the first shot online I could find that matches what I was used to in 1.6).
So the reason I'm posting this up here is to ask:
How big is your font size in 1.5? 1.6? CM? Was it weird for me to have such a large font? Do your experiences coincide with mine or differ? Do you also desire a larger lock screen if yours is indeed as small as mine? Devs: do you have insight into what kind of steps I could go through to make the font bigger? I have not yet taken the plunge into the SDK or taken a peak at the AOSP source, though I'm planning on both at some point, so pardon the naivete. I'm also aware there are complete lock screen replacements like Stericson's, and that could be an eventual solution if I don't turn anything up, but the stock screen has suited me just fine up until this point.
It seems a shame to not be using all those wonderful pixels to there fullest when my $500 smartphone is acting as my timepiece!
Thanks if you have any info.
*Pardon me if I'm in the wrong place, I know there's a Sapphire section but I felt inclined to post in a place that is a little more Cyanogen oriented, a little more Q&A oriented, and besides I really don't think this has to do with hardware.
Hi, I've just found this post having the same issue. I've moved from 1.5 to CM and that was one thing that I miss from stock... Did you find the solution?

Unfortunately I did not. Just learned to live with it... It's reassuring to see that someone else noticed the change, though.
Any updates?
Nope. Anyone have a suggestion for a better place to put this post? I'm thinking maybe Android Development and Hacking > Android Themes now that that exists.
Is this something I should just repost manually over there or does a mod want to move it for me?
Thanks!

where did you find the clock ?
I'd like the clock numbers as well, did you find them through the Home Customizer?
The background is likely just a wallpaper. Why don't you ask the source of the photo you displayed. I personally havn't ever seen this one. It is pretty nice.

He means the background of HTC Home itself. Not the windows wallpaper. There are 3 parts to HTC Home: Numbers, icons, and background.
Probably through HHC then. I am not sure. I havn't seen it; however, have not checked out what is new in quite a while. Still might want to ask the source of the photo though where it came from.
and i would still like to know where i got the clock
did you search HHC?
It looks like a Diamond Style clock but I can't tell from the pic whether this was customized using HHC or not.
OK. I've searched HHC Database and could not find this clock or background; however, this does not necessarily say that it isn't one. I havn't searched; but there might be a thread in these forums with additional HHC backgrounds, clocks, icons etc.
I found the theme. I havn't read the whole thread but I believe that Battery Status was used.
Same background, Icons, Clock
Check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392998&page=22
Sorry, I wan't really paying enough attention. It is the same background, but different clock still.
Check the third pic on this link
It looks the same to me as what you are looking for.

I havn't read the whole thread, but your answers are probably found there.
Good luck, hope this helps
Thanks hotrod, exactly right.
I got the numbers and the background. I traced down the image to pdaviet forums. It's a screenshot from a kaiser rom. I DLed the ROM and ripped the HTC Home images out (and that awesome battery meter).

Mind sharing?
Where should I post this? I don't think this is kaiser specific. Also, for the battery meter all I have is an OEM package.

So, I've been very intrested how the SENSE UI was designed so I decided to give it a whirl and rebuilt it from the original wallpaper.
It took 20 minutes to design the user interface, and here is a basic artist impression. I've been quick reasonable pleased with my results and
hope to continue building up this mockup. If you have ideas, or maybe we could team up and create our own app that fits along the SenseUI!
Ahoy!
[NOTE]: This is designed not an actually application/framework that can be used on your Hero.
//More will follow.
//For design enquries of your own applications, please pm me. For example if you are intrested in hiring me for freelance work then pm me. Thanks.

I would be very interested tu use this UI.
The screenshot does not show a lot but i love it
uhm, all you did was making a rectangle bottom bar, which we've seen already, and the clock got changed a bit? for me the clock is out of proportions, and the rectangular bottom is not my taste, but it is not actually ugly. can you make without that dark veil over it? as if it was the regular homescreen view?
I like what you did there. The font is nice and the shading/colouring is very well done for the sense ui.
Would you be changing the sense ui clock or making your own widget? I only ask because I didn't think we could theme the clock.
I would love to see more of this actually. Here's me hoping you will do something with your idea
Looks great mate, just wondering what the name of the font is?
I love it!
Please make a final version.
you love it??....you didn't even see it whole, just one pic...and even if you did those are only pictures made in photoshop/corel...the guy himself said it's only designed and does not exist
any update on this one

seems like the "dev" has vanished...
FYI - I'm currently working on something similar to this.
really amazing sense ui re-design , i'll be glad to use it
lads, this was never a theme, the OP was just showing you how he would have created rosie, instead of the htc way.
i agree on that one,and i didn't expect to get a skin, just to check if he designed other screens
i cant wait ;( i love it...
An update to this impression will be released within the week. A lot of changes applied and multiple samples of MySensaeUI. Some are a lot more developed then the one I posted 2 weeks ago. Look forward to it
Hey one and all, I have searched the forums and was unable to find anything along the lines of what I'm looking to do. Perhaps I'm just not using the proper keywords here, or I'm simply not understanding what sense is to android. I'd be grateful if somebody could direct me in the proper direction.
I'm looking to recolor the Sense interface, I'm not talking about the android theming that's going on here (or am I?). I've rooted my phone and have been looking through a dump of the file system, but so far I've been unable to find what I'm looking for.
back back in the day, I did something similar on my organizer. The theme files where basic vector graphics I was able to edit. I have a feeling things wont be as simple here?
Am I looking at metamorph or will I be flashing the device from recovery mode? I am right to think that sense isn't simply a theme, correct?
*edit*
I've been able to just adjust the phone look, just can't find the proper archive I suppose?
Just exploring
*edit again*
/system/framework/com.htc.resources.apk <- yay, partly anyway
Htc's Sense is a UI overlay for vanilla android, found on google experience phones like G1,MT3G,etc....It's like its own theme though.
You can play with the rosie.apk. I have very little knowledge on sense otherwise I'd offer more help haha. I basically only know how to change the launcher a tiny bit
Everybody seems to want to drop back to the normal android interface the moment they're faced with HTC's sense
I actually like the interface, but haven't been able to find any information on modding it. So I suppose I'll spend my time documenting it, perhaps make a post on it when I figure things out.
If anybody has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. For now, it's back to digging through apks
most image should be in either rosie.apk or framework-res.apk. i couldnt find the images for the launcher but if i remeber correctly there was a script available quite a while ago that allowed you to change the colour of the launcher. i will keep looking for the images though.

You guys are great! I'm slowly building a template with all stock images so I have something to work with, from what I've seen we might be able to reshape things. For now, finishing the template.

Good to hear I guess you found everything you needed then?
I have not yet rooted my Samsung Galaxy S sadly so I cannot do this myself. My PC is also broken so I cannot do much of anything at the moment.
I am basically after a simple screen capture of the standard status bar, including most importantly the UK English O2 network in it.
Basically like this (but perfect capture quality, not poor camera shot like mine ), the O2 instead of my T-Mobile network. So I can fool people into thinking I am on O2 basically when I show my phone, they wont know its a picture.

Hopefully it is a simple thing to do and it would really help me out I would usually just look about and find one such screen and edit it in photoshop to O2, but as my PC is playing up its a bit hard at the moment.
Thanks for looking and keep up the frankly amazing work, I love reading this place, but have yet to dip my toes into the actual forum. Guess this is as good a time as any to start.
J.P.
Is there something I have missed in this request?
Ahhh it is for priority cue jumping at O2 music events. I have an old never use anymore O2 Nokia phone and my new T-Mobile Galaxy S, so I have to take 2 phones to do the cue jumping at the moment.
If I just port over this screen to my Galaxy S, then I only have to show my Galaxy S screen.
Strange request I know, but it should save me a lot of time, and more importantly not needing to carry around two phones

OK, it makes sense. Not a bad idea.
I did hope there was an App out there that could change the Network to a new name, could not find one sadly. Mind you I may get more response if I asked that question as I think I worded this one a little oddly
Took the screen shot but can't upload it cus its a png file.. Soz
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

Thanks, that is so kind of you.
I have messaged you with an email link if you would kindly send it to me.
Sorry if it was explained already or this is a standard gmail.apk feature, but for me it seems random...
I have a flipfont (helvetica before frutiger both the same issue even on eclair) installed but I think I had it on stock too.
And thanks for any help
Froyo 2.2.1 JPY
Bump
Another thing is. I cant read it almost. The font (even the stock one) its not solid. I can see on the small texts thats is almost translucent kinda, dunno how to explain this, like pixels are missing. When its bold its fine.
When I put 2 phones together, both with the same font.
1. Hero with only on DPI 120
2. SGS with 240
The hero despite the fact its smaller and has a much smaller DPI is much better readable as the SGS and no "pixels" missing.
Anyone encountered this? Is my SGS faulty?

No your SGS isnt faulty, it has to do with the S-amoled screen,
instead of a regular RGB , it has PenTile matrix. The Nexus One and Desire have that too (the amoled ones) look at the bottom picture of this Wikipedia page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PenTile_matrix_family
Ah thanks and now explain the gmail thing . You have it too?
I dont use Gmail so I don't know
Okay thx anyway
Sorry to bring this topic again after so long.
I think this is a problem happens if you are using custom font (e.g. flipfont, font installer, font changer) and when there's a new email in your Inbox, all the "read" emails will become bold too. I am using Gmail version 2.3.5.2 (Latest). Any fix yet?
Below is the screenshot of mine.
