I've been using igo with my topaz since a long time without problem.
I upgrated with the official HTC Rom WM 6.5 Fr
I upgrated igo with the latest 8.3.4.102680.
Everything works but impossible to hear the sound...
i tried several uninstall and reinstall but without success...
i tried several release of the french tts voice ( 2.2 to 2.6b...)
In fact i heard the voice only one time but never since...
Does anyone ever have this problem?
Does anyone know how to 'activate" TTS ? i remember that at the really first install igo ask me "are you agree to install ttsloq..." but it never came back since.
despite delete all igo files on sd + soft reset + reinstall
Sorry for my poor english but hope that someone can help me because...
...a gps without sound is like a car without wheels... or like ppc without xda...
Many thanks by advance..
Does iGo8 work for you with a non-TTS voice?
If it does, then I have the same problem and I think it is caused by the memory requirement of the TTS voices in iGo8 being quite high.
In WM6.1 I would sometimes lose the TTS voice while a non-TTS one would be OK, and after closing applications and freeing RAM, or a soft reset, the TTS voice would work again.
In WM6.5 I cannot get the free RAM high enough for TTS to work.
Regards
Filbert
i have the same problem here... it works with no tts voices
Hi, I have same problem, at the begining, program work OK, and with TTS sounds Ok, but after that, only time to time it work.
I have check that if we disconnect Manila, (you know config, sytem, home, uncheck htc manila sense). then we have more ram available, and IgO work OK, with TTs voice.
Just an option for me.

After messing around with numerous reg tweaks etc to try and get my headset button to initiate Voice Dial I could not get it to work, in fact I recked my install of WM6 in the end. So yesterday I did a complete re install of WM6 (Orwell Edition) And set everything up the way I like it.
Then I installed the latest MS Voice Dial 1.6 and BOING it WORKS!!!
No reg hacks needed. This is the first time ever I have got my headset to work with MS Voice Dial
Now my life is complete! This was the last little annoyance I had with WM6.
I am happy to say this is with out a doubt the best rom I have ever used.
Jules
Whahahahaha OK i found one bug. And I laughed so hard I almost fell of my chair!
I press the headset button and say "What Calls Have I Missed?"
Wizard Replies "2 Million Six hundred Thousand and sixty eight missed calls!"
Wow but Im one popular guy huh
Jules
Edit
On the next missed call request all seem fine again "You have no missed calls" hmmm gues no one loves me afterall :-(
I have tried reinstalling the cab file and, although it works, it actually causes problems with the SIP! Following the re-installation of voice command, changing the SIP takes for ever! Does anybody have a better solution or a solution for the SIP delay after the CAB Installation? Thanks
I just checked and there is a delay, I only use Resco Keyboard as my SIP so this is not an issue for me. Hope someone finds a solution for you though
Jules
Here is something really wierd! :S Installing the cab solves the BT activation problem but causes the SIP change to be dead slow. I then proceeded and exported all registry entries. Hard reset the machine and import the registry entries previously exported and copied the VC files into C\program files. Soft reset and BT works and also SIP change is as fast as without VC! :S Can anyone explain this?
I would like somebody to cook wwe crossbow rom without Microsoft Voice Command because it's not licensed.

I supose that this rom not is in english..true?¿
Norwegian language with Norwegian keyboard I will guess.
Tore: Tested it out yet? More stable then the other versions?
Hey
Installed it last night.
Norwegian language, wordbook, etc..
I can't find the "voice commander" to start programs anymore, only the voice dailer.
The rom works great, GPS works great too.
Have't had any problems at all so far, but i did't have much before either
Two problems...maybe related
First, after upgrading to the new norwegian ROM, GPS on camera came up, but nothing happened. Tried it outdoors, waiting for 15 minutes.
Second problem I believe has less to do with the GPS. After installing, running (beutifully!) and closing GPS-Tuner, it would not restart. The message was "files corrupted - please reinstall". So I did, this time on the hard drive, not the mini-SD card. Same thing happens...exactly.

Hey Tore! The norwegian version of roms normally do not include the Voice commander software, nor the letter recon. software...
3rd day with this rom now..
The radio-rom does't seem that 100% when it comes to wifi.
With this rom the wifi works, but sometimes it just stops sending packages.
Had to soft-reset to fix it each time..
never seen that with the other roms.. :\
Added to wiki and uploaded to rapidshare. Lazy norwegians
I once had a PDA, or should I say, it once had me...
It showed me its ROM, isn't it good, norwegian wood?
(I should stop drinking while posting!)
Allright then

Hello again, another problem with the official HTC 6.1 Rom update ... IGO 8 does not work anymore ... I re-installed the whole software but the problem is the same : when I launch IGO 8, nothing happens ...
Does anyone else had this problem ?
i had this before with previous wm6.1 roms. you need to use kaisertweak to disable assisted gps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=370884
Thanks a lot for your answers ...
I had to disable A-GPS and the "HTC Home" on the today screen.
But it only works if after having disabled the "HTC Home" I soft reset my device.
That means I will not use IGO 8 anymore, and this is a big issue for me because that was my favorite GPS application.
use Ultimate Launcher...and activate HTC Home in the today plugin of UL...
Works fine...

Thanks for your answer. I will try it but I don't really like this kind of applications. I tried one of these "cube" applications, and I noticed that it was slowing down some other applications using the touch screen like "pencil box" for exemple.

OK, I tried : Ultimate Launcher does not affect the performances of the other applications, very good point.
IGO 8 works fine. But when I try to display the HTC HOME inside UL, IGO 8 does not work anymore ... So your solution does not work for me.
bizarre bizarre...
perhaps you have taskmanager bigbuttons installed?
perhaps you have sync kaiser and launch igo just after? try to perform softrestet before launch igo
I tried all of that, but still unsuccessfully ...
Try disabling the HTC Home music tab. That worked for me.
I had the same problem. Here are the fixes, choose which one suits you best (no need to use them all):
Disable HTC Home. Sometimes it's enoughto disable only some of its plugins (weather, music etc.). I like HTC home, though. This works, but i prefer other solutions.
Put a shortcut to iGo8 in your /Windows/StartUp folder. Pro: After you reset once - yuou can work with iGo8, close it, restart it etc. - no probs at all. Con: Every time you reset, iGo8 starts (so you lose a few seconds in life). This is what I use, and it works gr8.
Just heard that the June 2008 version of iGo8 works well with WM6.1 and HTC Home. My version is older. Didn't try this one yet.
Good luck!
latest patch of igo8 (24 june) version fixes the problem with htc 6.1 / home editions...
But i have 6.1 and TF2D Manila installed and iGO 8.3.2.xxxx and it works fine.
How come?
I have IGO 8 working on my Touch Pro/ Fuze. I have installed the TTS voices but it does not work, only the non TTS voices are working. I have tried 3 of them and restarted and reinstalled. Still it does not work.
Does TTS work on the Fuze?
iGO8 TTS
I went through hell to finally figured out that the following programs are in conflict with iGO8 TTS.
-Touch Flow 3D
-TaskFacade
-Gyrator
Try to disable these programs or anything else that stays resident in memory and try TTS again. A soft reboot may be required.

I've got iGO8 8.32.71348 and TTS voices works perfecly without to disable anything. HTC TP ROM 5.05 ITA + Radio 1.11.25.01.
Try again ....
I completely agree. nothing disabled and everything works perfectly. Would be nice of you to state what version you're using of igo and also what tts voices (versions you are trying to use).
Yes thank you. Got the latest version iGO8 8.32.71348 and it works fine with nothing disabled.
Could you guys upload/tell me what the names of the voices are that work for you? I have the latest version and my TTS voices don't work
I am using several different versions of the voices. 1.84 & 3.3 all work on the latest version.
iGO8 8.32.71348 is the latest Try uninstalling and reinstalling or completely removing and transferring files back over
Since we are in the igo thread. I understand you can customize it greatly by changing the sys file, but there are no tutorials or available settings that i can find to guide me in editing.
I'm using the same version as others, and I occassionally have problems, but a soft reset fixes it.
TTS requires a lot of RAM, so you might have to close everything to get it to work.
Here's my sys.txt for your enjoyment and driving pleasure
here's my contribution to this thread.

If you have the pda version with the program launcher then TTS won't work. The official version does not support TTS. You can install another version which will support it but you would have to launch the program through file explorer. I've done a lot of research on this and have modded made pna and pda devices. Navngo did that on purpose b/c many pda devices do not have the needed 64mb of ram to support TTS. I have installed both on my fuze and I am now running the non TTS with the program launcher (folder 2577).
I've been using igo8 with TTS on my Touch all the way till diamond. Previously everyting runs well on all stock wm 6.1 roms. After I flashed to Juicy8 WM 6.5 rom, my TTS suddenly would not work any more. All I got is a "ding" at each waypoint instead of pronouncing the street name etc.
I searched my a$$ off online and replaced all the TTS related files to the newest I could find online, still would not work. Asked in other forums, someone suggested that it may be the DLLs for TTS in the pack are not compatible with WM 6.5, but I do not want to flashed it back to 6.1 to test before I'm certain this is indeed the cause.
I'm using igo 8.3.2 series with up-to-date main program, the TTS packs are susanTTS high quality.
If you have any idea how to make the TTS work in Juicy ROM or generally wm 6.5 system, please share. TIA.
I'm not sure what TTS is. Is it TomTom Skin?
I am using 2.07.Gen.Y ROM with WM6.5. I have TomTom 7.915 and iGO8 8.0.0.44898 with the TomTom skin and they both work very well. The only issue I have is that I only have about 30Mb of RAM when TF3D is on, so I have to use TF Detacher to turn it off and this then gives me enough RAM for iGO8 to run. Perhaps you need a different ROM??
TTS is Text-To-Speech, it's almost a basic function now on all GPS units. All it does is to announce the street name and tell you to turn left or right etc.
re-flashed the phone to newer release juicy8 rom again. Before that I flashed back to sprint stock 6.1 ROM, igo8 TTS works fine. Then I flashed to the new 6.5 rom, and to my surprise the TTS worked for a while after I flashed it (with 54Mb available storage), but after a couple of programs installed and the available storage reduced the 30MB TTS stopped working again.
Tried to disable touchflo 3d to get some memory back, did not work.
BTW, TTS worked fine in 6.1 ROM previously when I normally have 20MB available storage memory. It might crash from time to time, but generally it was working. I don't understand why in 6.5 even with 30MB storage, it did not work. Or maybe it conflicted with one of my installed programs?
I had:
Resco expolorer
Hi-Cal
Phatenots ofr outlook
Phatpad
Touchpal
Others are built-in the ROM such as facebook, googlemap, opera etc.
With the rom in my sign and latest NeoS2007 drivers iGo is working perfectly.
To have TTS working good you need at least 50% of free ram...
Same problem on touch HD
I can confirm the same problem. It did work with TTS on WM6.5 23016,23017 versions. It did even work with 23037.
I have flashed to a new WM6.5 23041 version, and my TTS is mute. Also, trying to change regional setting crashes igo with message: "can't find big_flag_isl.bmp"
Any solution?
BigE
it has to be the rom because i used igo8 n a tts file and it didnt work at all, just liek u said all i heard was a ding sound, its defiantly wm6.5
Same problem on TD2 with official WM6.5 ROM
I'm having the same problem on my TD2:
WM6.5 ROM version 2.16.405.4 (67041) WWE
iGo8.3.4.102680
I also get the 'ding' with no voice after it.
Non-TTS voices work just fine.
When I first ran iGO8 after the upgrade from WM6.1 (where TTS *WAS* working), I did see some popups asking me to allow the Loquendo TTS DLLs to run. There are 4 DLLS but I only ever saw 3 popups asking for authentication. That's rather weird. Perhaps the 4th DLL is exiting silently in the background. I don't know.
What I do know is that it is ridiculous in this day and age of virtualised segmented memory models to design an application that requires such a big 'real' memory footprint! It seems that iGO8 attempt to load the entire 30MB TTS 'binary' in one hit when you start the application, rather than loading a small piece of it and reading from 'storage' when necessary. Maybe this is a Loquendo issue and not an iGO specific issue. Maybe there is a registry entry to tell Loquendo not to use so much memory on load. I don't know. It would seem sensible to allow dynamic tuning of the memory footprint of the TTS component to allow it to run under low-memory conditions. Surely it's not that hard for the developers!
Same issue here.
But the weird thing is that it worked twice for me in my TD2, regardless of the memory I used. But after hard resetting it stopped working again. So to me it's a mistery why it works say, 20% of the times.
Same Problem here.. till now
Device: O2 xda diamond pro (raphael)
Rom: Latest TAEL Rom (WM6.5)
iGO8 Version 8.3.## tested all from march to august ..
My TTS always works great in the past, untill now. Allready tested many different TTS Files, and voices. Bad luck
I saw the Post above, and i turned off tf3d. (before: ~54% ; after: ~44%) I also overwrite all the TTS Files (.dll) with other ones. (TTS-Fix found somewhere on the net.)
I attach the tts fix to my Post, actual they should work with other languages, too.
Try it and report back, hope it works!
PS: Copy/overwrite the new .dll s in iGO8 Folder (Maybe backup the old ones!) Sry, but the Manual is only in german..
copied the three files to replace files under \IGO8\ except the german one. It did not work.
